I was extremely fortunate to have seen this musical Genius on his first tour as he performed in The Arie Crown Theatre in McCormick Place , Chicago ! I was enthralled then & remember my guests being totally overwhelmed by his incredible original performance & wardrobe that befit the young Master ! I still relish the thought of having the honor of a Rick Wakeman performance ...... Appears he does not age or have any decline in his age ! I pray Rick remins in good form & his health remains great. He really doesn't look like he's aged a year .......... Nick , NavyBlueSmoke , LST-1195
I saw the same show....what an experience... I must have been 17 or so.... Sullivan High School graduate....those were the days when we attended all the concerts in Chicago during the 70's
I know he will not read this, but thanks for loving and respecting my country when no other artist would come here. Thanks for 3 amazing performances that I saw, and for the ones fans before me saw. Love from Brazil
When I was stationed in the Air force on the remote Island of Shemya out near the end of the Aleutian Islands, we would turn out the lights in our dorm room and put on Journey to the Center of the Earth. It helped us survive a year’s assignment on this lonely, cold, windy rock in the middle of a the freezing Bering sea. It would take us to a whole different world inside the earth!
If correct spelling and grammar was a requirement on Shemya, he woodn't have being ther wering an aire force uniform. What have you done for our country. Scilly count!

I saw him decades ago in Toronto for the Six Wives of Henry VIII tour. He drank beer, told jokes and stories between the songs. Quite the entertaining evening!
My first ever concert in California, must have been 1974, was Wakeman at the Hollywood Bowl with the whole orchestra and choir on stage. Did the album live with dinosaur effects and all. It was something I will never forget. I must have been 13 or 14 years old. My 18 year old sister took me.
I'm the same age as your sister, and we had tickets to see him with YES right around that year or so . Well my friends that I was going with, dropped the acid we were gonna do at the concert the day before, and ended up in the hospital and nobody got to go. lol I'm lucky I didn't do any. lol Went to CAL JAM 2 a few years later.
Eu vivi isso aos meus 15 anos de idade, eu tinha todos disco dele (LP's). Inesquecível. Esse ano completo 64 anos. Hoje curto David Gueta, Alok e toda música eletrônica 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I saw him perform the whole album in Adelaide in 75? (I think), complete with gigantic inflatable dinosaur! At the interval he came out and said that he had a new album and was going to play it for us after the break. 6 Wives of Henry the 8th. What an amazing show! Will live with me forever. Thanks Rick!
I bought this masterpiece when it first came out I was 15 years old. Just listened to this. Amazing it actually feels more impressive with half a dozen musicians

ok so, i listened to the album journey to the center of the earth with my dad when i was about 7/8 years old, and hearing it again after many years has comforted my heart. I listened to this wonder on long car rides with him, and we tried to sing, both vocals and instruments with him lol anyway, I just wanted to thank you for the existence of this gem that helped me a lot on the path of life.
Even without backup accompaniment by orchestra and choir, this version of Wakeman's incredible, musical retelling of Jules Verne's classic is a stunning masterpiece! His mastery of numerous keyboards is unmatched by anyone I have ever seen or heard! It is like hearing the show for the first time! The vocalist handles the story well enough, over-emphasizing at points with notes not heard by the original singers in the album of 1974, but the entire performance, without the narrative script, is impressive and memorable! Thanks for this reimagined, stirring, visual upload on one of my favorite albums!
Amo e faz parte da minha história, eu era uma criança e aprendi a apreciar com minha irmã oito anos mais velha que eu. Pra mim é o rock progressivo melhor do mundo, minha paixão eterna ❤
I remember seeing the original production on PBS when I was a kid. How I wish I could get a video of that! Not just the size and pageantry, but watching Wakeman in his "fortress of keyboards". He would be playing one front of him, and a totally different part on a keyboard directly behind him, sight unseen 🤯
Saw this show in Dallas at least 40 yrs ago. Was remarkable back then. I had the 8-track so when saw the show was coming to us, I and a friend hit it. Little did I know it was just the beginning of a fateful night! But what a show. I got excellent seats!
Nothing like this could ever be played live on those early synths. They not only played one note at a time (monophonic not polyphonic) but could only be programmed to make one sound, and needed time-consuming rewiring with patch cords before another sound could be produced. People like Wakeman and Keith Emerson were not just musical virtuosos, they were part engineer too!
Rick Wakeman, o que esse fantástico músico fez em favor do pop mundial naquela época era pura obra de arte, aranjos fenomenais em sua ilha de teclados, a mistura da imponência do erudito com a irreverência do rock and roll. MAGO!!!

Hi warren from Australia I love the movie Journey to the Center of the Earth. I remember seeing Rick do this live in the 70s but this video is the best thing I've ever seen on UA-cam. Absolutely fantastic thank you so much
WHERE does Rick find his drummers? They're all so GOOD! That kid he had in Cuba was AMAZING! ....well ALL _those_ musicians were insane! As the show was!

That singer's voice reminds me of Greg Lake's voice more than the voices typically heard from Yes singers. Nice to know that there's room for baritones, and maybe even bass singers.

I think the Wakeman era of Yes was some of the best prog rock ever made .... I am partial to the Wakeman trilogy of Journey , King Arthur & the Six Wives the most I think
I'm guessing it was '77. Ricky and I had front row seats at Klienhands in Buffalo, NY. Couldn't see Rick, but the sound through the sound system went through us. Rick remarked about his guitarist having Hepatitis.

assisti esse show com orquestra, coral e narração de Pauo Autran, no ginásio da Portuguesa, na Marginal, 16 anos de idade PQP
I knew Rick when he recorded THIS album for the 1st time, in 1974. I was 15 years old and became a fan of his amazing work.
Well to be fair, it was pretentious drivel. The narration was great. This is much nicer.
I saw that show in Madison Square garden. One hell of a great time
So did I.
I think your mistaking ambitious with pretentious. It is a common mistake.
Me too. 1974= 15

I think it's Ashley Holt, who was one of the 2 original singers, on this live version. His voice got better with age, I'd say...

Wow, first time I've heard this version.....very powerful...Wakeman is a genius...and the singer (???), what a great voice!
Is that Alan Parsons?
The singer is Ashley Holt, who sang almost all of Wakeman's songs from the '70s through to his 2010 tour.

He bought his first MOOG from a guy who sold it because “it only played one key at a time “ and Rick played millions of notes onward . Thank you Sir.
That guy is none other than Jack Wild, who you might know as the Artful Dodger in Oliver!
@@MrTheBaron Also from HR Pufnstuf Sadly now deceased. Died penniless in a squat. I have such fond memories of the guy.

The first Moog was invented in Trumansburg, NY, USA. There is a historic placard in front of the building today.

Great to see and hear this very special piece of music soon in London again.
I used to have the original LP of this album with Wakeman wearing a bright white robe.
1975 in Toronto, Maple leaf gardens. There were not more than 1,000 of us there. Thanks Scott for this one.

Katherine Nicole DeLaO then again, he play this one on a synthesizer
