I'd use a kill switch over Carlock any day of the week. Get the RF Lockout. It's free at Dodge. Locks your car to YOUR two key fobs only. For those that don't know, your car comes with 4 key slots. 2 of them are assigned to your fobs, the other 2 are left "blank" in case you lose your fobs. Now that your car is locked to your ONLY your fobs, keep them in a faraday pouch at all times (except while driving of course). Don't let your signal get hijacked like Racer said. Get that steel box that covers the neutral strap and mount it with security screws. Get a newer model club, not the old one that only requires one cut to remove. The newer ones require four cuts to take off. Top it off with a brake pedal lock. Have good insurance and if you're still paying it off, get gap insurance as well. It's only a vehicle and not worth your life.

Ok here is what I have on my 2016 Dodge Challenger Shaker. 2 kill switches, one is done manually and the other one is done by two step process when I go out somewhere. Alarm that tracks my car and a train horn that when it goes off you can hear it from good long distance. Apple tag, destroyer 1320 plate with bolts that can only be removed by a specific tool. Trying to get a removable steering wheel which I have not had any luck. Maybe it can’t be done. It’s cheaper to keep her then buying another one. Oh yeah will put other deterrent mods very soon.
But the real problem is after thousands of dollars in damages and multiple inconvenient problems for the owners, when caught the scum bags get little if any punishment
They either try to clone your fob via an app or they just jump in it and drive off/onto a trailer. Friend of mine's Camaro got stolen during the lock-down covid times. Basically, he just walked to the end of his road (about 1/4 mile) and there it was doors opened in the bushes. They found out the limit on distance without a key fob lol Tech tip: Drive a car with a kill-switch (DONT SHOW/TELL ANYONE!!) with Carburetor, manual transmission, preferably 3 on the tree. Or just keep your doors and garage shut/locked and your 12-gauge loaded?
I’m from the treasure coast of FL and have a local performance shop that installed the Igla system and it’s amazing. It is something that’s soldered into your harness but prevents the car from turning on or even to be put in drive (with remote start) unless you enter the steering wheel passcode. That accompanied with a brake release cover really gave me peace of mind. Also debadged my hellcat too so any little bit helps. Ccw for anything event outside of the house too
I am putting a club one of the newer ones that goes over the horn so if they try to remove it is going to make noise and it’s going to take them time to remove it and I am putting the ring car cam so I’ll be notified that this motion or someone’s in the car or around it, and they better hope they’re faster than me because I’ll be coming running with my gun.
Lol. Nobody is going to say it, but I will. I am a Black man that owns a 2021 Charger Scat. I have ALWAYS owned muscle cars for the last 20-25 years. Mustang, Chargers, Trans Am etc. I once had a 2007 SRT8 Charger. Nobody was stealing the previous model chargers and challenges. These cars became popular for thieves when all of these rappers started putting them in their videos. Look at the timeline if you don't believe me. The Mopar is the new Thugs Ferrari/Lamborghini. It became a trend. Once these rappers started having them all over and in their videos, you tube, Instagram etc. Thugs also discovered that the parts are $$$. People in VA have been pulled over in Mopars that also have had removed VINS or changed plates. Everyone else wanted one or they would take yours. Sad but true.
i figured it must've been a rap thing, after even girls that don't know 2 shits about cars started saying "sCaT pAcK" this "hElLcAt" that, all the time... then I found out about the Texas A&M player that got suspended for blasting that song Supercharged and everything started making sense lol
Definitely a rap thing ! People love to do what they hear in music lyrics…perfect example other than cars is alcohol…when jeezy rapped about grey goose what was the hot drink ? Grey goose ! Same with ciroc…everyone was drinking it after rappers rapped about it…which was always funny to me because I was drinking ciroc in the early 2000s but people didn’t start messing with it till puff got on board
I think enhanced security mode was released and already recalled (not stable) last year. it was basically backpacking on the valet mode...essentially enhanced/dead valet mode. I'm looking at the tazer for pin and carjack mode features in addition to all the others you mentioned. Sad we have to take these precautions and forecast the environments we'll be driving and parking in.
I ordered a Faraday box/signal blocker for my scat. I tried touching the door handle with the key fob in the closed box and the headlights didn't blink. So that's a good sign. I'm in a rural area, and car thefts rarely happen here, but I still wanted a little peace of mind. Lately, I just drive my truck if I go to a larger city. It really is sad that we have to take so many steps to keep our cars from being stolen.
I spend 80% of my time in my Tahoe for that reason. I actually live in one state, and commute 200 miles to work in another. Sometimes, I actually feel more comfortable driving it to my job in a small semi rural area than around the large urban area I live in.
Got to kill the fuel pump, find the fuse or run a hidden switch somewhere inside, but that's your best bet, if it doesn't start it isn't going anywhere..
Although I agree that everyone should carry, it’s definitely not a deterrent unless everyone knows you carry, which defeats the purpose (i.e., concealment).
I use a CYCLOPS anti theft system on my vehicles, it’s a starter or fuel pump relay that replaces the original relay and uses a key fab to activate it, I’ve had it for over a year now and works great, about $150.00 , it may not stop them but will definitely slow them down
I started watching when I got a challenger, you broke my heart when you went with mustang, the only reason I watch is for mopar info, wish you would come back,
Aside from the neutral block off plate I'm also using a Ravelco System. I'm kind of surprised you didn't me nation that one. Regarding the Dodge factory system, Its not good. A technician at the dealership I use for servicing my car said he did all that stuff you mention as it was available to Mopar employees first. You guessed it, his car was stolen anyway!
Add a hood lock and a remote kill switch. Relocate your odb port and replace it with a fake wired all hot to your battery no fuse. Hopefully it blows their device. You can also lock your brakes so they will need a tow truck. Move or add an additional horn for the alarm, hopefully aftermarket alarm . The best way to defeat tech is with old school tricks. Nobody has been able to take mine.
05:17 awesome information and I have my old school club my friends laugh but now they go and get one. I also have car lock and some other little doodads here and there but I wanted to ask where can I find that plate that's pretty cool.
I’ve been using a faraday pouch for months and now it seems like it only works half the time. The other day I walked up to my car forgetting to take my fob out of the pouch and I was able to straight up open it and start it even though it was in the pouch. It has started to fail. Maybe I need to get a new one every few months??
Another way to deter thieves is to manually disable your ignition button. Basically connect annon/off switch to the ignition button and turn it off after the car has been turned off.
Good video RacerX and great advice. I just gotta say though that the Mopars really aren't the "preferred car for car thieves." In fact they aren't even in the 15 most stolen cars in America. From 2010-2022 the only American vehicles to make that list are full size trucks from Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge, and the Jeep Cheerokee/Grand Cheerokee made the list a couple times. Honda, Toyota and Nissan are most commonly stolen cars. So yeah definitely do everything you can to keep your Mopar safe, but just know that your Camry or Accord is more likely to get stolen.
Just got finished buying that OBD tracker! Great video! Love my Challenger and would hate to have it stolen I actually work at a Dodge dealership, and we’ve had at least 7 cars stolen from us in the past year! It’s definitely a problem in the MOPAR community rn, but videos like this help a ton! Thank you RacerX
Seen a few videos now showing quite a few ways to protect them. After Market alarm systems along with other hacks like the starter switches, plates to block the neutral pull switch etc.
Practically every car with an automatic transmission since the 90's has a shift lock release under the console. Not sure if it coincided with the release of the OBD2 standard in '96 or not, but it's been around a long time on console shift cars. Not sure how it works on column shifters though.
IGLA system is the best antifheft system. It connects into your main computer and harness. They cannot bypass it even if they hack your key fob code. I installed it in my Ram TRX and sleep much better at night
Excellent video Bro. Thanks for doing it. One thing I do is I put the Club on my Mustang GT every night when I'm done for the day. I also pull a couple of choice fuses from under the hood, like for the fuses for Fuel Relay and Starter when I plan on leaving town for a few days. It also helps that my Mustang is a manual. My theory is that the Mopars are being targeted is because they are going away. If someone has a better theory, I would love to know what it is. I mean, the Camaro SS and Mustang GT are both also American Muscle and are just as fast and, in some cases, faster than the Scat Packs and they don't seem to be as targeted. I don't hear about Corvettes being excessively targeted either. If someone can explain why without being a condescending jerk about it, I would like to know.
The other muscle cars aren’t perceived to have the same cool. If it was about scarcity or extinction, then Camaros would be targeted. I suspect it’s likely because of influence from rap videos, Dodge commercials, You Tube, and social media. The joy riders aren’t necessarily “car guys” who have an inherent understanding what a GT500 or ZL1 are capable of. They get overlooked by joy riders. The only people that ever comment on any of my Camaros is car guys at a cruise. No one else. But, the Hellcat logo on the side fenders is an instant attention grabber. Pull up to an intersection and look at how many people all of a sudden are paying attention. My wife has actually had old guys at the grocery store give her the thumbs up. One guy came up to her and said you should get a license plate that says “Hell yeah.” It’s the in your face attitude of the Dodges that makes them desirable targets by the wrong people...
Also lots of these young and new rappers include Mopars in their lyrics (Scats / Cats / Hawks) and car meets feature these cars with ppl "Spinning & Swinging" them all night long. Cops come they scatter like cockroaches and quickly and easily getaway. Many of them are stolen anyway so they couldn't care less about damaging the cars, hopping over curbs, doing 150mph down one-way residential streets in the city, revving the shit out the engine, doing endless burnouts & shredding thousands of dollars worth of tires they're never gonna pay for, and all while hanging out the sunroof & not giving half a f**k. Cops try to catch them but its embarrassing at most. Many cities and counties have a no-chase policy and these idiots know it. You can practically leave a Mustang or Camaro unlocked with the key fob in it parked next to any locked and secured Hellcat or even SP. They'll still break shit and desperately try to steal it, even if it's parked next to a GT500 & ZL1 , most of these guys are dumb AsF🤦🏾♂️
Hello, I discovered the other day that valet mode I believe is useless. I set in went into the store forgot and was driving down the road when I realized the display looked weird. Then I remembered valet mode was on. It's not very helpful if I can drive down the road 40 mph with 3 horsepower??? Oh boy so they can drive away at 40 instead of 80? Very disappointed.
Nothing will stop a good thief that really wants your car. The objective is to slow them down with too much stuff to hassle with. They need to get in and out quickly. Time is the thief’s enemy. If you make it harder to get at your car, they will move on to an easier target.
My 2018 Scat Pack was stolen a few months ago in Houston from the Cypress park-and-ride garage. The thief broke the driver's side window and then apparently programmed a duplicate key. These key programmers are available on Amazon for less than $100. I did get it back - because I had tossed an Apple air tag into the trunk I was able to direct the cops to it. There was a high speed chase and they apparently eventually stopped it with a spike strip (I assume so as all four tires were ruined). One $500 deductible and $8000 covered by Liberty Mutual and my car is good as new. Dodge can turn off the key-programming feature and I had them do so, Northwest Dodge charged me $179 to do this; I thought they should have done it for free. I also started using The Club so hopefully they won't break the glass before finding out they can't program themselves a key. Of course The Club can be defeated but I think all that's important is to make your car less convenient to steal than the next guy's. Thanks for the video Racer X!
Hey Racer X I know the sound of the new banshee sound is not unique to that car. In 1986 there was a movie the wraith that car was a dodge M4S concept and it made that sound.
I've always wonder about the weight distribution ratios on mustangs compared to similar vehicles. I've driven the newer mustang and although not a complete fan, I noticed alot of punch in the 5.O when it decides to kick in and kick out the rear a little if not in a straight line. But overall it's not a bad vehicle at all. Experience and really getting to know your vehicle and how it reacts when doing certain maneuvers is key. On my Mopar I went on a staggered set with 275/40x9.5 front and 295/40x10.5 in the rear. Get the grip, it goes a long way! 😄👍
I definitely need to do some security upgrades …… I drive a challenger scat around CHICAGO lol ……. I have it air tagged , and I use a steering wheel club and it has the on board “horn” alarm but that’s it as of now
My car was stolen from downtown Chicago 30 days ago. Busted driver window and video shows them gone in literally 30 seconds. Programmed a key im assuming. I would def lock it up
Those of us who own or will own the TRX or Rebels, thieves are hooking the horn wire, disconnecting it, thereby eliminating the noise. There are “old school” techniques like RAVELCO. New technology like IGLA or COMPUSTAR. These can even be layered for added protection. In addition, relocating the horn wiring is another great idea. Now that Ram has closed the order books for the remainder of the 2023MY, I am sure this doesn’t bode well for Ram truck owners.😢
I installed the IGLA system with the PIN code built into my dash. Great system. Probably the best for Mopars. Love my TRX and can’t afford to have it stolen
Could you also cut off the red neutral release cord and add a hose clamp or heavy duty zip ties to the neutral release in addition to the neutral release cover to add extra obstacles for the auto thieves? What about adding the IGLA PIN code system, Compustar alarm and Drone cellphone notifications? Adding hidden AirTags with the AirTag speaker removed modification would be back up tracking. There’s the modification to the AirTag to remove the speaker so the criminals can’t use the AirTag sound to locate the AirTags. Use a few AirTags, not just one AirTag. How about an alarm system powered by independent batteries that makes the sound level inside the car so loud that only a deaf person could tolerate being in the car?
Maybe if we would stop playing nice all around everyone and get back to cutting hands off to convicted thieves we might teach them to think twice before stealing something? Just saying...
@Monica from CarLock good car alarm also sends notification and does tracking and all the stuff CarLock does. But it's not as easily discarded as CarLock. Alarm is an important deterrent and must have part of any auto security system in my opinion.
@@DJGRoc Siren always helps unless you're in the middle of nowhere and nobody else can hear it going off - even then I still get an alert with drone mobile. CarLock is good but far from the best and very far from comprehensive is all I'm saying.
Sorry but that car lock gonna get annoying and your gonna end up turning it off The best thing you can do is get full coverage insurance then put your car in the garage and get a club or make a kill switch
The Carlock alarm seems redundant if you already have a good car alarm. Why would anyone design a security device that plugs into the OBD2 port anyway? It is the very place where thieves plug in their tablet to get the data to clone a new key. People get so many different notifications on their apps throughout the day, it's very likely they will miss it.
has anyone considered Ravelco? Its pricey, and it appears to require a few hours to travel on my end....and...the website says theyll install it within the parkinglot of a f***king Bass Pro north of Dallas,TX lmao.... but the concept sounds perfect. 12pin plug thats randomized installed under your dashboard, all ignition wires steelwrapped and made to look identical. Its like returning the vehicle back to a physical key start, no plug, no start. Can the vehicle still be stolen? yeah, but they arent driving it and are required to look like they're actually stealing it now. That plus a neutral strap cover feels like it could be a solid combo.
I personally wouldn’t trust GPS trackers. Idk how is it in USA but here in Central Europe thieves just have jammers that block the gps signal rendering such devices useless
I'd use a kill switch over Carlock any day of the week.

They found out the limit on distance without a key fob lol
Tech tip: Drive a car with a kill-switch (DONT SHOW/TELL ANYONE!!) with Carburetor, manual transmission, preferably 3 on the tree.
Ccw for anything event outside of the house too
Gearhead Fabrications
@@sickofitall392 you already know !
Another option is the Tazer, it now offers a "Pin" steering wheel button push combination or the car will not go into gear.
I've found that Carlock is less sensitive to vibration with the OBDII Y cable or if directly connected to the battery
No cap...Also the commercials from Dodge ain’t helpful. All the drifting and stunts in the commercials make people want to drive the same way...
i figured it must've been a rap thing, after even girls that don't know 2 shits about cars started saying "sCaT pAcK" this "hElLcAt" that, all the time... then I found out about the Texas A&M player that got suspended for blasting that song Supercharged and everything started making sense lol
Yeah, rappers hyped this car up for sure.
I pull the Fuel Pump Fuze when I go on vacation. 😁👍
@@thullraven1 No 🧢, Starter one too
@@ukayhemi6385 Yeah, that one too. 👍
Just got a scat pack and have been looking for something thank you
On my 2014 I have the key auto open set to off, and use an rfid blocker pouch.
Thanks!
Yes Get a CCW.... It's a great deterrent believe me...... Great video that's all great advice man it's getting tough out there.
Although I agree that everyone should carry, it’s definitely not a deterrent unless everyone knows you carry, which defeats the purpose (i.e., concealment).
You need more than just a CCW. You need to have a solid plan about when you should and shouldn’t engage.
@@robertc4311 Tint your windows, step out with it hidden, engage
I use a CYCLOPS anti theft system on my vehicles, it’s a starter or fuel pump relay that replaces the original relay and uses a key fab to activate it, I’ve had it for over a year now and works great, about $150.00 , it may not stop them but will definitely slow them down
I started watching when I got a challenger, you broke my heart when you went with mustang, the only reason I watch is for mopar info, wish you would come back,
How do I know I have the latest update on my challenger?
Wouldn't an Igla pin code system be better to prevent a car from being driven away? While Car Lock is mainly for notifications & recovery after theft?
Bought a CarLock and your discount code worked, thanks!
Good old hidden kill switch is still viable.
05:17 awesome information and I have my old school club my friends laugh but now they go and get one. I also have car lock and some other little doodads here and there but I wanted to ask where can I find that plate that's pretty cool.
Glad to see there are so many options available to protect our cars. Thanks for the information.
I’ve been using a faraday pouch for months and now it seems like it only works half the time. The other day I walked up to my car forgetting to take my fob out of the pouch and I was able to straight up open it and start it even though it was in the pouch. It has started to fail. Maybe I need to get a new one every few months??
I got one from Ticon, and it killed the batteries in the key fob, plus they only work intermittent. Read the reviews before you buy one.
@@robertc4311 that’s the one I’ve been using too. But I just bought some from a different brand.
Love my Challenger and would hate to have it stolen
I actually work at a Dodge dealership, and we’ve had at least 7 cars stolen from us in the past year! It’s definitely a problem in the MOPAR community rn, but videos like this help a ton! Thank you RacerX
Maybe they could make something where you pull up on that little neutral bar and it locks the doors and sends poison gas inside the car🤔
I bought a 15’ Challenger R/T back in August but I low key live in the ghetto in an apartment so no garage so I do worry all the time
The betrayal! You're wearing osu gear! As a buckeye I am happy to see it but that's brave 🤣🤣
Seen a few videos now showing quite a few ways to protect them. After Market alarm systems along with other hacks like the starter switches, plates to block the neutral pull switch etc.
I was not aware of this initially but the Durango also has the Neutral pull but no plates have been released yet to cover it.
Plates have been invented for Durangos just search UA-cam
Practically every car with an automatic transmission since the 90's has a shift lock release under the console. Not sure if it coincided with the release of the OBD2 standard in '96 or not, but it's been around a long time on console shift cars. Not sure how it works on column shifters though.
IGLA system is the best antifheft system. It connects into your main computer and harness. They cannot bypass it even if they hack your key fob code. I installed it in my Ram TRX and sleep much better at night
I'm assuming the neutral bar doesn't work on a manual transmission.
@@robertc4311 Everything you said makes perfect sense. Thank you.
@@LSp8 Shows their ignorance. The Mustang GT and Camaro SS are both faster than Scats in roll races and the idiots will ignore them.
Better theory is they are popular with blacks
Hello, I discovered the other day that valet mode I believe is useless. I set in went into the store forgot and was driving down the road when I realized the display looked weird. Then I remembered valet mode was on. It's not very helpful if I can drive down the road 40 mph with 3 horsepower??? Oh boy so they can drive away at 40 instead of 80? Very disappointed.
Fuel shutoff. Power shutoff.
My Scat Pack was stolen out of my driveway the day after Christmas.
Very informative video. Thanks again.
I take it the manual cars not as prone to theft?
They can be but the stats say they aren't because a lot of Americans can't drive manuals, especially the younger crowd.
I seen a video where they cut the wheel to get the club off.
Yup, can be done in under a min. Thieves have been doing that for as long as The Club & it's clones have been around.
A lot of thieves don't carry saws.
Nothing will stop a good thief that really wants your car. The objective is to slow them down with too much stuff to hassle with. They need to get in and out quickly. Time is the thief’s enemy. If you make it harder to get at your car, they will move on to an easier target.
@@robertc4311 Exactly!
Where can I get the neutral pull cover?????
Thanks for the info
Awesome content buddy 👍💪
How far back does the update go I have a Phantom Black 2015 manual Hellcat?
What about a Kill Device, something that just Kills the ignition. One good one is a Manual Trans! Also a manual Shifter Lock would be a great idea?
Hey Racer X I know the sound of the new banshee sound is not unique to that car. In 1986 there was a movie the wraith that car was a dodge M4S concept and it made that sound.
Where did you get that neutral plate blocker ?
Will this work in a trunk? You suggested that but it states to not install it under metal on the power cable adapter.
Does anyone know where to get a diffuser for a charger scat pack that’s aren’t from Amazon ?🥶💯🐝
american muscle
Wow I’ve seen car lock EVERYWHERE… ADVERTISED CONTINUOUSLY.. lol I already bought mine 2 days ago..Mustang gt 🔥😂
Keep your Mopar from being stolen, paint it pink
🤣🤣🤣
What do you do when the thieves reprogram your key entry system they plug something into the port to reprogram the car to a new key
Thank you sir good content
I have it air tagged , and I use a steering wheel club and it has the on board “horn” alarm but that’s it as of now
Put a kill switch on it gang u trippin
My car was stolen from downtown Chicago 30 days ago. Busted driver window and video shows them gone in literally 30 seconds. Programmed a key im assuming. I would def lock it up
That sucks ! I’ve also added CarLock also now
A good old fashioned "kill switch"
I pull the Fuel Pump fuse and take it with me.
Is there a way to disable notifications? I think it would be annoying to get alerts every time you open the door, start the car, start driving, etc...
It could be because the hemi V-8 engine is being discontinued- we had our track hawk stolen 😡 a few months ago
Where do you get the metal plate for the neutral lever?
.... The best one/thickest steel is from Tailhappys Garage
Maybe if we would stop playing nice all around everyone and get back to cutting hands off to convicted thieves we might teach them to think twice before stealing something? Just saying...
Is CarLock only available on Amazon ?🤦🏽♂️🙏🏽
So are these anti-theft features on the 2023 models by default - or not?
My cars getting a kill switch for sure
What do you think about compustar
X, what do you think of old-school car alarms with separate FOBs? Effective when they wail, or too easy to disconnect?
Hey @racerx why not recommend full alarm system with drone mobile instead of Carlock? My problem with carlock is no sirens or alarm to deter.
Sirens don't necessarily help. All depends on the area where the car is when it goes off. 😔
I cried after watching this
Sorry but that car lock gonna get annoying and your gonna end up turning it off
The best thing you can do is get full coverage insurance then put your car in the garage and get a club or make a kill switch
You can wrap your key FOB in aluminum foil.
The Tazer now has a PIN option on it now, wonder how effective that is.
I'm gonna have to update my tazer and try this.
Work Play Drive did a video on this about a month ago. Check his channel for it. Quite interesting! 😉
It works great. I'm very pleased with it.
Love the shirt👍🏾🌰
O-H
Go Buckeyes!
has anyone considered Ravelco?
Is a manual transmission a deterrent for car thieves?
It'll deter your average millennial for sure! LOL!
To an extent, yes.
What do you think of LoJack?
LoJack is still great, especially for recovery purposes. Plus insurance companies used to give good discounts for having it.
