I own a 2017 Mustang GT with a custom Whipple at 700 whp and my wife owns a 2019 Scat Pack Charger with the 275 wide tires from the factory and I’ll agree with you that on the street the mustang rarely sees the pedal to the metal as it feels overwhelming whereas the Scat Pack is just right to focus on the fun rather than keeping the rear tires where they belong. They both have their place and time for sure. Great video.
Thanks for the videos you do, I really loved your 0 ~ 60 tire comparisons and the fact that you own both the Hellcat and the Scat Pack, you flat tell it like it is, with zero partiality! Thank You for that!

Nice points brother mang! While the 392 cars may not be the "end all/be all" in terms of all out horsepower like the Hellcats/Redeyes/Demons...but there is something to be said for the usability/accessability of the power of the 392. It makes enough power and immediate torque to be fun, entertaining and surprisingly quick, all while not trying to kill you. Plus the 392 sounds pretty damn good in its own right.👍👊
I have a 6 speed scat pack widebody. It's a boat, but it's a super fun boat to rip through the gears in. Not the quickest car I've ever had.....but arguably one of the most fun cars. Great video! I watched a bunch of your content before picking mine up. You weren't the deciding factor, but you placated me until I could take delivery. Your content is very good.
LOVE my SRT 392! Fully loaded like a Hellcat but with a motor more friendly to daily driving. But even with 275 Nitto 420V's, I can still get sideways no problem. Especially in the rain! I have to drive it in eco mode when it rains so it starts in second gear. That being said I'm thinking about going FBO, new cam, and a tune.
I'm not sure if more fun is the right way to describe it but the 392 is without a doubt the better daily driver. I've put 49,800 miles on mine since buying it brand new in February 2018 and she's been a bliss both in terms of giggles delivered and economical standpoint. The hellcat is better suited for weekends or the occasional road trip because it gets expensive going through a full tank every 150 miles (let's be honest, nobody gets behind a Hemi and drives for the mileages", a set of tires starts wearing out every 15,000 miles, those expensive six piston Brembos start needing new rotors and pads. We are looking at picking up a Redeye for my dad but I will hold onto my 392 for as long as I can, she's just perfect.
You forgot to mention.....there's an eco 500HP mode on the hellcat with a cute little green leaf that is displayed that I use most of the time that calms it down and therefore needs less driver power management. It pretty much makes it a scat. Bottom line...the hellcat demands a lot of skill to make the power useable...and a really good driver has no issue maximizing the 707 on the street with better than stock tires of course. I hear what you are saying though...its nice to have a car that you can mash that wont kill you....takes the thinking and stress out of it. It's just something that comes with having unaided high hp and rwd. I had an an E60 M5 and rarely felt out of control....its quite the opposite in the HC....and that makes me smile. Different strokes for different folks. Pun intended.
Who uses the black key on a hellcat? All I know is on my 2016 Hellcat red key when I choose 500HP a green leaf appears and next to it it says ECO...which is kind of comical. I also have a red key valet mode which I've never used but I think its 300HP Thats hillarious too. Either way my point was about the 500HP option.
Thanks for great videos....we were able to pick up a 2019 scat with the shaker....sold the 5.7 challenger which was a 2018 with a stick.. the 6.4 is automatic as writing this we had the car 24 hours we are in the north and weather is not to good in February.. .thanks again your videos are the best....
Love my 2019 scat pack Challenger !!! And after watching your 0-60 video. I keep watching my times. And to my surprise with the stock Goodyear’s I hit a 4.7 and I love to brag to all my Hellcat friends. Lol . Thanks for the great videos and this is Don not Grace lol. She is scared of the power . Hahaha
I have a modded 5.7 RT charger along with my hellcat charger, and I gotta admit that it's almost a relief driving the RT every now and then. It's just a little more relaxing knowing you can punch it without taking out the neighbor's hedgerow. BUT, it's a short lived feeling - Doesn't take long for me to crave the insane and addictive power of the cat.
I have a modded RT charger to. What mods do you got? I got a tune, cai, kooks long tubes with full exhaust and a stage two comp cam. I have 426 to the wheel. I can run with the 392's now...lol.
Yup! I agree. Supercharged muscle cars in general are awesome. But if you aren’t tracking or drag racing them they seem like overkill for the street. As a mustang guy I think the 5.0 with a 10 speed is the percent power plant for what I want. I’d only spring for a GT500 if I was making so much money that it was an easy easy buy (and even then would keep my humble GT PP1).
Manual Hellcat is my dream and I’m getting one soon. I’ll be deleting the mid mufflers and changing the cold air intake probably a day after owning it can’t wait 🤩
Paul Terzi ...😂... anybody? My 2018 Mustang GT premium Roush supercharged 750HP 😈would annihilate your pathetic scat pack... hell...a base model 5.0 would teach you a lesson😂
Great points man. Love your videos. I own a 2019 Charger Scatpack and I love it. Don’t quite a bit of mods to it and plan on doing cooks LT headers and cam in the near future
I saw Texas plates and then the neighborhood I was like, “I know where that is!” Then I remembered that most areas in and around the DFW metroplex all look like that. Badass rides.
I been a Chevy man all my life walk in dodge dealer 12/23/19 just to look & ended up test driving a 2013R/T black top package with only 13500 miles on it & now I owen it & LOVE IT. It's the only reason I look forward to going to work. But I live in the midwest snow & ice all over now😭 cant wait for the summer months
@@boostedhemi7118 was the scatpack not enough? And what wat ur mpg with the scat compared to the hellcat not that I'm worried but I surely don't want less then 12mpg
It's about the amount of power you can get to the ground. The 392 has just the right amount of grunt to get the power down. The HC has too much for the road, you'll find you're spinning your rubber when you really want to go. After a while it can get a bit tiresome, maybe that's why the 392 tickles your fancy.
I think you're onto something. When you want to rip it you don't want to hold back. You want to go all the way, and it's annoying when your choice is hold back or spin n die Playing nice with the pedal is not savage
Thanks for this comparison. I live in Ft Worth & just want to find a way to test drive both before I decide, it’s not easy! I love my 392 Challenger but I keep watching your gear head videos & want a move up before Dodge goes European on us!
Usable Power is the EXACT reason my I ride a 600 super sport bike instead of a liter bike. But it DEFINATELY doesn't hurt to have the extra power. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE both the Scatpack & Hellcat
Just picked up a TorRed widebody 392 scatpack challenger...still breaking it in, but wow, fun fun so far..have been VERY gentle with it..but took it on a road trip to Newport Beach, and all those Ferrari boys nodding respect was nice...great driving csr..
He needs to pin this comment lol. 392, punched it, able to continue his conversation half way through. With the hellcat, punched it, hold on for dear life, concludes with a laugh/smiles. I'll take the hellcat too lol
I purchased my 2019 skat off the show room floor in March & has been absolutely in love with her every since!lol An absolute PLEASURABLE THRILL to drive! I gotta say though now I want the charger He’ll Cat to compliment my 1st love.lol Thanks for the info.
I have the exact same scat you have. I've had a few people ask if it was yours lol. It's my daily and I don't mind taking the long way to and from work... every day....
I just recently purchased a 2022 Scat Pack wide body with the SRT 6.4l 392, I’ve yet to discover what this car can do for me😂, I’m still trying to get familiar with its power, any tips and pointers you can provide for me would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
As an owner of both (well I sold my scat) but you're right for another reason as well. I find it "frustrating" to drive my hellcat. I live in Minnesota, so you can cut over half of the year out of driving it, to pile onto that people drive so damn slow even in the left lane it's just frustrating to even drive it. Even merging onto the highway I can't get into it, my fastest 0 - 60 is in the 5s for christ sake. You maybe have spaces in traffic (that you have to create) just to get on it for about 3 seconds before some ass merges in front of you going super slow. So I find driving the car frustrating most of the time tbh. At least in the scat I could floor it here and there and hear the engine.
I have a 2015 Challenger Scat Pack with the Shaker and 6 speed. I have 45k miles on it and have just had a blast with the car since I bought it new. It really is an amazing value and perfectly set up for the street. While I haven't driven a Hellcat or even ridden in one, I've heard other people say the same thing. Out in the real world, the Hellcat makes so much power that you can only do small pulls here and there before you're going crazy over the speed limit and smoking tires. The Scat Pack's power is right in the sweet spot. It makes more than enough to smoke the tires but you can still use it and do some pulls without going totally insane. Especially if you plan on daily driving the car, I think it's the best option.
You can build the HELL (Pun) out of a 5.7! The door's wide open for performance mods. The 6.2 and 6.4 are already designed and built for their perspective performance and are very expensive to modify.
Hey Paul great vid I've had both the scat charger with] 305 m/t plants n goes !! Now on the hellcat same tire on rear is scary !!! Hey x you lose your hat?? Your subs getting up there!! Mine too past a milestone 55 lol !
Thanks Buddy lol.. still have the hat somewhere 😂. Your getting up there in subs my friend 🤜🔥🔥.. all seriousness it always is hard to get rolling in the beginning but you will get there. Keep doing your thing
I bought a scat pack for now and love every minute of it. Gets a lot of attention being Plum Crazy. In the next few years I’ll get a widebody Redeye in Plum Crazy with Sepia interior. So excited
I actually disagree with you. I had a 2015 Scatpack Challenger and now have a 2019 Red-eye widebody and it's way more fun just tooling around. The acceleration on the red-eye is instant and the supercharger sound is intoxicating. Scat was fun but red-eye takes the cake. Just my .02. Great channel man!!!
X, come on. LOL! I just got my 1100+ hp Hellcat out of the shop. Thus Scatpacks can not be more fun than our Hellcats. But all in all, great video and appreciate your knowledge sir!
@@RacerX9 You guys know about HWS (Hellcat Withdraw Syndrome). But you have inspired me; I need to go drive the Scatpack for a day or two and really appreciate that trim level.
Love your videos! It will be fun if you do a video driving the V6 and the RT 5.7 to see whats the deffrent for street driving, it will be interesting to get a hell cat / scat pack owner perspective, I got the V6 Challenger, wondering if I should upgrade to the RT or Scat Pack, but when I take the V6 out for drive 80% of the time I think its more than enough for the street and I will be in big trouble if I got more power 😏, that video will help a lot of guys like me who want to upgrade. Keep them coming!
I have a 5.7 and a scat. The 5.7 is definitely enough for fun daily driving/cost to own/reliability. The Scat is insane compared to the 5.7, but oil changes are more expensive, worse mpg (when driving spiritedly), and you have to use 93 octane.
RacerX I’m literally in the same boat and my car is a 4.0 v6 mustang w 210-220hp and feels quick to me and I feel the RT Will be a monster to me but UA-cam always says skip over 5.7 and get the scat lol, I think the scat would be overkill a bit tho lol
Appreciate the input, after weeks of researching, I decided to upgrade to the Scat Widebody when the time is right, the price difference is just not worth it getting the RT 5.7 over the Scat 6.4, it will be a real upgrade from the V6 305hp to 6.4 485hp instead of to 5.7 375hp, Also more braking power, I have been in my V6 doing around 120mph couple of time and let tell you the brakes couldn't stop this car fast! And the RT got basic brakes as well, so I don't want to be in the same situation after upgrading, also I don't mind the extra maintenance/gas cost, for me its my weekend car, I got the V6 for over a year now and it has 3k miles on it only, so am looking around this week and I did find two 2019 scats has 5k miles and they are asking 35k only! One of them is widebody!, so if you wait and look for a great deal you will find it, but if you are going to use it as a daily driver just stick to the V6, still faster than most cars on the Street looks great and cost less to own.
I just got my 2020 Challenger Scat Pack today. I can't sleep... Still smiling 😁 It's interesting how gingerly I have to use the pedal in a parking lot. It almost wants to tear out of the parking spot. I can't even imagine what a hellcat would do... On second thought, the hellcat with the boost lag probably isn't as jumpy at low speed is it?
Traded '16 SXT for '20 Scat widebody. The SXT was nice to drive, the Scat is fun to dive. I couldn't imagine driving Scat or HC without the wider 305 tires or drag tires. Even with the wider 305 tires on our WB, the Scat will spin them at 30mph. Probably couldn't drive a HC without drag tires haha.
The hellcat is an aggressive shifter you can really enjoy all the lower gears. Not really a daily driver car. Scat pack is little more fun and if you want more power you can always add the hellcat supercharger or twin turbo.
Man I'm so happy I'm getting the shake down. My frist American Muscle car since my 89 mustang back in 2001. Razer I think you would love the Honda S200 very snappy as well but yeah not as fast of course. Challenger had no handling compared to my s2k. 👍

Nice.. sounds like a solid plan 👍
Lol I drive in eco mode too in the rain. Thought I was the only one
That hellcat garage start is awesome !!! My neighbors talk about my RT hah
Just came across your channel. Love the content. I just purchased a 23 widebody scat pack charger.
Yall leave racer x alone he's cool asf and that's coming from a scatpack owner it's mopar against the world.
Thank you Jaiden 🤜🔥🔥
Thanks to you Racer X I got my grandmother to watch your videos now she wants to trade in her Cadillac for a Scat Pack
I love this comment
Thanks for the heads up! 🙂 Hellcat for me too! ❤
The ECO limits it to 300 horsepower 500 is without the red key or activated manually if you’re driving with the red key
Great video man.....love the sound of the scat pack when u step on it
Thank you Ivan Drago .. lol.. yes for a stock car I think it sounds great
Thanks for great videos....we were able to pick up a 2019 scat with the shaker....sold the 5.7 challenger which was a 2018 with a stick.. the 6.4 is automatic as writing this we had the car 24 hours we are in the north and weather is not to good in February.. .thanks again your videos are the best....
Thank you Steve 👍
Love my 2019 scat pack Challenger !!! And after watching your 0-60 video. I keep watching my times. And to my surprise with the stock Goodyear’s I hit a 4.7 and I love to brag to all my Hellcat friends. Lol . Thanks for the great videos and this is Don not Grace lol. She is scared of the power . Hahaha
Grace Hadix .. nice work Don.. it’s fun to try to better your own time 👍
You just made the Scat pack R/T my dream car! Thank you very much! Love it!
Just got a scat pack a few months ago. Definitely a wicked street machine. Funnnnn
This video was sooo good, you really described the 2 cars really well, my dream car is a Charger Hellcat:)
My wife and I both have scat packs. Her’s is a auto charger, and mine is a manual challenger. We love them both! So fun!
Yup!
Again another great video! One of the Best car channels on UA-cam keep the really good & informative content coming I'm definitely fan!👍🏾👍🏾
Hellraiser 707 .. thank you my friend.. much appreciated
Manual Hellcat is my dream and I’m getting one soon. I’ll be deleting the mid mufflers and changing the cold air intake probably a day after owning it can’t wait 🤩
I hope you get it my friend
❤ Me Two
My 2019 Scat Pack wide body Challenger is a blast to drive and can take on any cars on the streets!!!
I believe it.. just get the right tire set up and get your tire pressure right 👍
Paul Terzi no it can’t
anonymous 2019 is when Dodge make the widebody factory. I believe it’s around a $6,000 option.
Paul Terzi ...😂... anybody? My 2018 Mustang GT premium Roush supercharged 750HP 😈would annihilate your pathetic scat pack... hell...a base model 5.0 would teach you a lesson😂
Except for a Hellcat 😂😂😂
I have a T/A 392 and I don’t regret it for a second, it’s amazing to drive it pumps me up every time I punch it!
Absolutely my friend
Great points man. Love your videos. I own a 2019 Charger Scatpack and I love it. Don’t quite a bit of mods to it and plan on doing cooks LT headers and cam in the near future
CaRnAgE_4_Justin .. thanks man. Sounds like your charger is going to be a beast .. love it
I absolutely love my 2018 392 RT SCATPACK!!!
I agree . I smile whenever I drive my scat pack! Instant power is crazy with a 75 shot added. Makes it wild!
Yes it sure does
Do you have a hellcat now?
Jets Set . Yes
@@boostedhemi7118 was the scatpack not enough? And what wat ur mpg with the scat compared to the hellcat not that I'm worried but I surely don't want less then 12mpg
@@boostedhemi7118 I get 17mpg in the Rt but I race at every red light
It's about the amount of power you can get to the ground. The 392 has just the right amount of grunt to get the power down. The HC has too much for the road, you'll find you're spinning your rubber when you really want to go. After a while it can get a bit tiresome, maybe that's why the 392 tickles your fancy.
I think you're onto something. When you want to rip it you don't want to hold back. You want to go all the way, and it's annoying when your choice is hold back or spin n die
Playing nice with the pedal is not savage
Thanks for this comparison. I live in Ft Worth & just want to find a way to test drive both before I decide, it’s not easy! I love my 392 Challenger but I keep watching your gear head videos & want a move up before Dodge goes European on us!
I think you will love both.. You will just have to decide which driving experience you like better
This is a very good comparison of both vehicles good job👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
6:37 vs 3:35 tells me everything I need to know... I'll take the hellcat
He needs to pin this comment lol. 392, punched it, able to continue his conversation half way through. With the hellcat, punched it, hold on for dear life, concludes with a laugh/smiles. I'll take the hellcat too lol
🤣🤣😂 man I’m thinking wth is he really talking about? Dodge must have paid him to make this video bc scat packs piling up
Word! he damn near went cross eyed and lost all his bearings for a split second
Lmao🤣🤣😂
yeah but his is modded tf out
Just love my 2015 Scat Pack 6 speed that 392 just sings
I purchased my 2019 skat off the show room floor in March & has been absolutely in love with her every since!lol An absolute PLEASURABLE THRILL to drive! I gotta say though now I want the charger He’ll Cat to compliment my 1st love.lol Thanks for the info.
Absolutely Ethan 👍
Glorious exhaust sound.
I have the exact same scat you have. I've had a few people ask if it was yours lol. It's my daily and I don't mind taking the long way to and from work... every day....
You gained a new subscriber great content
first video of yours im watching, you just earned a new sub. i enjoyed this
I really love my 2021 Challenger R/T Scat Pack Widebody A8. A lot of smiles per mile.
I own a 2016 Scat slightly modified 6 speed and it is a absolute blast to drive puts a smile on my face every time i fire it up!
I still love a well sorted manual car 🤜🔥🔥
I just got a 19 widebody scat & I cant believe they make a car 300 more hp. Scary
Seems crazy doesn’t it
Thanks RacerX! My 2019 Challenger Scatpack sure is a lot of fun to drive; I really enjoy driving it. But I do not like riding in it.!
Yes the scats are a lot of fun to drive 👍
Got the 300c coming and pretty excited to have that as a daily. Coming from a glc 43 merc so I hope it’s going to be a good bit more exciting.
So scat is a good first car if you can afford it
Gonna upgrade to a scatpack when I’m done with my Honda Accord coupe really want one
Straight subbed with that remote start clip....
I got a 2021 challenger in April and I love it and it’s a wide body
So excited
I hope you get that plum crazy cat 🐈
Thanks man. In the meantime I’ll enjoy my scat pack and pretend that it’s supercharged
Great info dude! Thanks for sharing, and I agree. So fun to drive!!!!
1320Jay absolutely my friend
I actually disagree with you. I had a 2015 Scatpack Challenger and now have a 2019 Red-eye widebody and it's way more fun just tooling around. The acceleration on the red-eye is instant and the supercharger sound is intoxicating. Scat was fun but red-eye takes the cake. Just my .02. Great channel man!!!
REDZ32TT .. can’t go wrong with the Redeye either 👍
redeye doesn't come in manual, how can it be more fun??!!
By the way the 2019 skat pack charger top end is 189 that's not slow at all. Thanks for the saying big UPS on the skat.
Definitely not slow 👍
I just got a challenger wide body scat pack!!.. I love the body makes it look like the 😈.. I love it and I like how you talked about it..
X, come on. LOL! I just got my 1100+ hp Hellcat out of the shop. Thus Scatpacks can not be more fun than our Hellcats. But all in all, great video and appreciate your knowledge sir!
Haha I bet your glad to have that beast back 👍
@@RacerX9 You guys know about HWS (Hellcat Withdraw Syndrome). But you have inspired me; I need to go drive the Scatpack for a day or two and really appreciate that trim level.
Id daily either one..
But a Cammed 392 would be great.
I think the R/T can be a really fun package.. nothing wrong with it at all.. it just depends on the feel you like and what your wallet will allow 👍
All the platforms are great in their own right .. go with what works for your budget and lifestyle.. there’s something for everyone my friend 👍
I just got my 2020 Challenger Scat Pack today. I can't sleep... Still smiling 😁
It's interesting how gingerly I have to use the pedal in a parking lot. It almost wants to tear out of the parking spot. I can't even imagine what a hellcat would do... On second thought, the hellcat with the boost lag probably isn't as jumpy at low speed is it?
Finally someone gave ford the proper Recognition for the 2013 shelby that set the bar for the hellcat
The 2013 Shelby set the bar
@@RacerX9 I can't lie out of the hellcat line up I think the jeep trackhawk is the best buy. No other suv like it
Calvin Williams there are others, just not American.
juke nismo.
g65 amg and tons more European suvs
Really enjoyed your video
Your garage is goals
Traded '16 SXT for '20 Scat widebody. The SXT was nice to drive, the Scat is fun to dive. I couldn't imagine driving Scat or HC without the wider 305 tires or drag tires. Even with the wider 305 tires on our WB, the Scat will spin them at 30mph. Probably couldn't drive a HC without drag tires haha.
It’s not as crazy as you think it’s easy to get used to
The hellcat is an aggressive shifter you can really enjoy all the lower gears. Not really a daily driver car. Scat pack is little more fun and if you want more power you can always add the hellcat supercharger or twin turbo.
Yea if you wanna blow out your motor. The supercharger is made for a hellcat you can’t cut corners that’s too much for a 392 in the scat
If you have to start over knowing that you have the hellcat and scatpack. If you had to reset between both cars. Which one will you get.
Man I'm so happy I'm getting the shake down. My frist American Muscle car since my 89 mustang back in 2001. Razer I think you would love the Honda S200 very snappy as well but yeah not as fast of course. Challenger had no handling compared to my s2k. 👍
Very informative for us guys have the 5.7 I want to upgrade to a 6.4 little hemi
Love my scat pack. Actually own the same car you have with the shaker but in graphite. But I would much rather love to have a hellcat widebody challenger
Those widebody hellcats are sick cars too 👍
Love the videos bro .
Thank you Henry
Thank you for that I'm 66 yrs old but you have experience You can't put young people behind the wheel Your right less Hp Walk before you run Accident fixing to happen Thank you Sir 😊
Hey folks experience is everything behind the wheel if you are in that spot and most of THEM NEVER NEVER GET close Had to stop and wait for THEM where they now witch way I went That is practice Thank you God Bless and be safe
Racerx and B Mason are my favorite dodge brothers 💪🏾
Thank you Antwon 👍
Looking at getting a Hellcat or ScatPack in about 3 weeks (Charger), coming from a Porsche Macan GTS
Wow very different cars .. both fun for different reasons 👍
RacerX Got the Hellcat last Thurs. Best car I've ever had! I take the long route everywhere HAHA
As you should lol
