Im loving my Xrt just as much as the x-maxx but the Xrt doesnt replace it.. Xrt is more suited for high speed open driving areas people with a lead finger and definitely handles better. It comes with taller gearing stock and a steeper power curve on the esc. X-maxx can do more in a smaller area, feels more punchy(lower gearing), definitely handles rough terrain, big jumps and landings better than the Xrt. They are 2 very different styles of truck tho, apples n oranges...

I have erevo 2.0 and love the handeling of it. Its is fast in turns etc. but damn now I bought a new xmaxx 8s. And I could say I would choose this driving style any day. With xmaxx suspension you feel like uou can drive and jump anything. I know xrt will be roughly the same as erevo but a lot bigger. But still the suspension will not match the xmaxx. You are 100 % correct a completely different car used for differenr things.
Very cool video ... 😎 In the last few years I have not only driven every Traxxas they have in their range, but also a lot of competitors - the XRT is the absolute No. 1 for me - handling and "jumping properties" are the best you can get for your money - my humble opinion
X maxx is still 1000% better for bashing. Xrt is cool for people who want stability and more race inspired.. but it bottoms out on every jump hard and we have broke 2 chassis already and I’ve never broke an x maxx chassis. The wing is useless. Looks cool but it snaps off within 30 mins and all the reinforced ones on eBay and Amazon are useless also. Tires are small for its size also.
@@chefbeardsly maybe you got a bad one? There is thousands out there not breaking lol. But yeah to each their own. All traxxas products need the same upgrades.. actual steel ring and pinion gears and loctite to hood the pinion on, use better glue on tires, get a quality high torq servo if you change tires to any of the heavier ones. Other then that it’s bulletproof if you know how to drive it. The xrt needs all the exact same things. Tires are too small fornit. It is 1” off the ground and smashes the chassis on every bump let alone jump, pinion is the same pot metal garbage, servo doesn’t even turn the tires of the truck is on carpet or thick grass lol. Good luck with it, hopefully you have a good truck and you enjoy it.
Now I hope you get why I think traxxas makes a better rtr even the xmaxx difference is gearing and the xmaxx has a hop on landing makes it flip a lot I feel your xmaxx was defective same shock caps and differential and shocks just a different spring and shock shaft length hopefully it hold up 👍👍💯
Thank you for the video! How do I go about changing the plugs on the ESC to ic5? Is there a plug and play adapter or do the wires have to be cut then solder to those connectors? Any instructions on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
You would have to cut the esc stock plugs off and solder new ones on there are a lot of how to videos on UA-cam on how to solder ic5 connectors you're better off watching one of those bc to explain it in text is hard. Thanks for the comment

@@chefbeardsly that's awesome, I'm pretty excited about it Mike, it looks to be pretty awesome. They kind of combined the best attributes of the sledge and xmaxx and made a great hybrid. The tires look pretty great too, that was something I mentioned to guy last week. That pattern and harder compound looks really good for multi surfaces!
I love my rustler 4x4 vxl but I also liked my stampede xl5 for clearance now if the price of the xrt is the same as the xmaxx when it drops hopefully which is better if I want a more bashed focused but also on road car as I use it on dirt grass sometimes small jumps then on road which way should I go I’m so stuck between the two choices.

There's a place about 1 mile from my house, but it's a business. They sell dirt, gravel, asphalt, etc.... dump trucks are in and out all day, every day. @@chefbeardsly Don't get me wrong, I do think that the XRT is going to be better than the Xmaxx in huge areas like where you run. I prefer the skatepark and big park areas, where the Xmaxx does very well. And yes the truggies are way better for long distance jumps indeed. 👍👍👍
Handling feels similar but not exactly the same do to the size difference build quality they both are built well but I need more bashing time on the xrt to really know how it holds up but I feel like it's going to be really good

XRT and Xmaxx is completely different driving style. Apples & Oranges. XRT is great but Xmaxx is also awesome. I prefer Xmaxx as it’s more suited to rough terrain.
How do you think the car would hold up using the speed gearing like you did all the time? Or would you opt for a different ratio for all around use? Cool vid👍🏿
@@chefbeardsly A great midway point is going to a 20/46 gearing which is a 2.3:1 ratio. Stock 20/50 is 2.5:1 ratio and the optional speed gearing of 23/46 is a 2.0:1 ratio. So the 20/46 is a awesome compromise between the two. Gives about 5-6 more mph than factory gearing.

How can't it? So you're saying if I get a running old muscle car and take the engine out and drop in a sick engine with tons of power and change the suspension geometry with after market suspension and it is now faster and handles way better than it did before the stock muscle car is still better? They both have the same chassis lol

Yes that’s what I said on my channel. I’ve said it first. The XRT is way better then a Xmaxx and faster then the Xmaxx because it’s a lower gravity race truck. Same size is the Xmaxx but little bit bigger then Xmaxx

I changed the plugs out because all the batteries I have have different plugs I dont use traxxas batteries and to change the gears it's easy remove 2 covers and the motor put 2 gears on and put back together super easy comes with instructions too if you're not sure but its just like how you do it on the xmaxx and my run time was probably 25 30 minutes maybe more I always forget to pay attention to my run time lol

I change the plugs on the esc so I can run my batteries I don't run traxxas connectors and I normally use a hose and then hit them with the air compressor to get the water off then gut the screws with wd40 so they won't rust but that's when I actually clean them lol

@@RomasNoreika yup my buddy has an e revo and I let them drive the Xrt. He said it's just like driving a more capable e revo.
They share alot of parts, essentially the same truck with different height settings.

for me my xrt is holding up better than my xmaxx did but people have different experiences with them both so hard to say

Newbie question, but did you vent the tires and/or tape the vent holes in the rims? Love the stock tires, so want to keep them in good shape
I did neither lol but one of my tire foams did break in the tire and bunched up on one side the tire stayed glued tho so super weird lol

I run 9000mah 100c probably get 30 to 35 minutes depending how hard I am on throttle. I wouldn't run anything under 7000 mah on these big trucks
