Just started playing this mod for a few minutes and MAN is it leaving a great first impression. Early-game progression has been completely overhauled with the new prize cars and reworked payouts, and it's a lot smoother while avoiding or softening a lot of the easy progression skips the original game had. The new events are a breath of fresh air with tons of new restrictions to provide lots of variety, and switching every car to road tires early on has been pretty fun to drive so far.
@@luchin027 Actually Arcade mode starts with all the cars and tracks unlocked instead of needing to unlock them through GT mode like in vanilla. GT mode is still GT mode though, buying cars with cash and winning prize cars from events, but there's been a good number of changes.
Awesome. Time to replay this classic after some good years of progress, both from the community and emulators. A great shoutout for both development teams!
GT was my childhood. Everything from the tracks, the music, the cars, the consoles I was playing on... it was mega. This mod will elevate those core memories to the next dimension, incredibly welldone.

I usually just use "Le Mans" when referring to the circuit. Like many may refer to the Nurburgring as with just that or just the Nordschleife and not both together.
I am still in disbelief about this. Like jesus i wasn't expecting gt 4 to be modifiable always assume pc games are only ones that can be modded but now people just surprised me. The amount of love, care, and hard work that went into the mod is immediately apparent. This is the version of GT4 that I always wished I had as a kid. Immense kudos to The Admiester!
As a big fan of the GT2 A-spec mod, I have to admit that you have done an amazing job. Thank you for all the players. 5 minutes ago I bought a PS2 console on Ebay just based on watching your video.
I just loaded it onto my PS2. It’s great. The adjustment to the analogue control for throttle and brake is excellent. I’m using a Dual Shock 4 via a Bluetooth adapter. On stock GT4, the entire analogue range is in the first 10% of the trigger. With the mod, it behaves exactly like you’d expect. 10% of trigger = 10% of throttle, 50% of trigger = 50% of throttle. This mod is worth it for this alone, haha.
You can thank Silent for that, he did the hard work finding what to patch for his PCSX2 pnach, I just found a way to make it work natively in the game Glad people are noticing it because it's a nice big quality of life upgrade

I'm glad the "racing transmission" volume is adjustable. I might want to adjust it all the way down. I often want to change the differential to some other factory gear ratio. Oh wooorrrd. I been waiting a few months for this after i started a playthrough of gt4. Absolutely legendary that we are updating PS2 games in 2k24. What a time. Gonna be checking this out asap 💯
We were still a 1 console household in 2004 and I had recently played Halo CE, so I skipped PS2 for Xbox after having played a ton of gt1 and 2 on PS1 the gen prior. Went back to PS and GT for 5, 6 and 7 but I've always felt that GT4 shaped hole in my heart. No longer! Didn't even know this was a thing til Jimmy B was streaming it the other day but I've already got a few hours in. Runs great on 3700x/6950xt and looks fantastic for 20 years old. Thanks to everyone responsible for this very thoughtful and tastefully updated classic.
I've played every GT except GT4 and GT: Sport. I just started playing with pcsx2 and this mod, so far this combo blows GT7 out of the water in terms of fun and variety. Thank you Spec II Mod Team!
Wow, that's really cool, I played a lot of Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2 with that boxy Cadillac CIEN '02, the graphics were impressive at the time, very realistic and it has aged really well, it's really cool that they made an expansion Mod for this game, long live the preservation of games!
Great work but honestly I'll wait for new cars and tracks. Imagine driving my love - '70 Cuda (from real 1970, not 1971 with that ugly black spoiler............) or some custom blowed muscles or hotrods/ratrods, Citroen GT, Batmobile? Hot Wheels cars like TwinMill etc. and TONS of unique cars AND driving it on some custom tracks that blow our minds by it's sick variety - from a real pro racing tracks to extreme custom fun tracks in hell/space etc... Man, it's so exciting what awaits us in next years... Waiting SO MADLY for this! And? who knows, maybe I'll create something for this too! We'll see... :~]
I just started playing the mod, it's VERY GOOD, I'm loving the new features especially the new cameras, the hood camera should be the default, idk why pd preferred the roof over the hood, but my favorite it's being the inside camera, it adds a very cool immersion, however, you can't look back when using the inside camera, that's bothering me 😅
I wonder if anyone at PD has seen this, they are probably both impressed and annoyed! Youve really taken it to another level and its all very classy and in their motifs
Been waiting for this for so long! Cant wait to try it out later today. The only option i wish it had was a way to make the "wind" sound effect on the hood view quieter
After playing this game for a few hours I can only write this: I've gone back in time! This mod has the same feeling that I got when I played for the first in 2005! 🎉🎉🎉 💯 😎👍
it’s weird while true autosims of the era like rFactor/GTR/NASCAR Racing/F1 Challenge having hundreds and thousands of mods and new content being forgotten, there are bunch of fans that working hell hard on adding some new sounds and couple of cars into a game from consoles/closer source. To the game that wasn’t so special even on release date, but still is being played. GT fan base has the passion and fanaticism i’d like to see in more worthy classic autosims.
Hi- new to PC (coming from console) and therefore new to modding. However, if i understand correctly; I download pcsx2, download rom (enhanced vers) download the spec 2 patch, use xdelta to create a new disc image, run new file on pcsx2 ...? Thank you!
I've literally just played 50% of the original/normal GT4 on my Steamdeck and had a "memory card failure" causing me to lose all my cars in garage before discovering this mod😭😭. Oh well time to start again😅. Big thanks to the developers it looks incredible!
The mod really is an awesome revamp, congratulations to its author! Known issue: you can't properly do more than 2 laps in arcade vs. mode (you can set it in the gui, but to no effect). I was playing local splitscreen with a good friend of mine and no mater what we did, we could not run more than 2 laps without getting "finish" after crossing the line a 2nd time. The new career mode progression throughout early game feels a bit off too: you do get more money, but you also do need more tunes (and cause of that, earn less A-spec points) to properly compete with the new AI. Also, many races began with a complete clusterfuck of colisions at the first 1~3 corners, while a single AI driver (usually the one already starting in the lead) took off, leaving you to close a gap of 3s~10s under 2 laps. My suggestion: make AI cars closer to each other (and to the player) in terms of power, such that if there are 3 AI drivers running 200HP-ish, 1200kg-ish cars, the other 2 are somewhat around 180HP to 220HP, and similar wheight classes, and not something as drastic as a Dodge RAM competing with a Viper in the same race as is currently (was the gap THAT large in the base game as well??) Overrall, if the game is a solid 8.5/10, this mods easily brings it to a 9.25/10, but it CAN still be improved I think! Awesome mod!
#1: Where's the driver side hood camera love? More immersive than normal hood cam, but without the issue of low quality interiors not made to be seen in a first person camera perspective (though I guess for those that have SOMETHING there at least, some texture mods on PCSX2 might be neat). #2: Could the event synthesizer work in an "endurance style", with a time limit instead of lap counter, so that races are more or less equal in length, with races in slow cars having few laps even on shorter circuits, but faster cars on short circuits would have more laps. I also feel that this could work as a nice refresh of the event synthesizer/manufacturer races in GT2. BONUS: 3D models for GT3 have been figured out already, right? Like with GT2. Can we expect some Ferraris and Lambos there anytime soon? Together with the cars that are being ported from the GT Concept games, and the great career that game had (in retrospect, I kinda love the different levels of same events, like it was in GT2, but extended to series or even championships), it could also be a neat new way of playing a good Gran Turismo game again.
1: Probably too much time to implement. It would need to be set as an option too. 2: Admiester tried to implement a lap count slider but it was way more complicated than it seems. Would be the same case with a timer. 3: GT3 formatting is completely different from GT4. Models from Tourist Trophy and most GT4 demos are the only things that can be ported to GT4O right now
The Lister is a conversion of GT2s Lister Storm Racing Modification. For whatever reason PD just ported the specs of the Storm Road Car from GT2, hence it being overweight
I would really like to have an analog tachometer like GT3. I find it so much better for understanding the behavior of a car's power curve coming in and out of corners.
I hope the corrected stats for certain vehicles includes the gear ratios for the Focus RS and the Neon SRT-4. I corrected them to the real-life gear ratios that anybody (but PDI) could look up on the internet, and they were noticeably faster. The gear ratios for a lot of old musclecars also bugged me. It's a road racing game, but those cars came with optional, extra-cost drag racing gears that made them reach their "rev limit" at about 100mph. Most of those cars would have been better off with their *standard* gear ratios. Like, the Chevelle SS had a standard final drive ratio of 3.31 in real life, but PDI gave it the 4.10 rear end made to finish a 1/4 mile drag race in 4th gear, near redline. 🙄
Two things i always hated about Gran Turismo is the vacuum like electric motor sounds. And the tire sounds (which for whatever reason never changed since GT1 (I'm talking about in context of GT4 and not newer versions of GT)). Now i liked how they set up the audio where it has separate intake and exhaust sounds, and changing the exhaust would change the exhaust sounds. But again the audio sounded nothing like a car powered by an internal combustion engine.
I bet the creator of GRAN TURISMO 4 "KAZUNORI YAMAUCHI" must be impressed with the most complete game he has ever seen. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU. You have made a GRAN TURISMO 4 "ULTIMATE" Edition.

Looks great. Thanks for the coverage, and well done to the moders for making this amazing game even better.
Big respect for those people that made this Mod ❤❤❤
Don't lie, we have ALL BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG!!! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Loving this! I would love to see a feature where you can put your cars in your garage against each other in arcade races, that would be so awesome!
I asked Admiester. He said he tried it and it's theoretically possible but tricky to make it work
@@RowdyGT That is something cheat engine can do, but we'll see if the game allows it, as well. Thanks!
@@tropixx_xlr1549 Yeah, some things that can be done in CE are more complicated than they may seem on the game side, and vise versa
@@RowdyGT cool
This needs to be the game of the year!!!
Huge Thanks for GT modding community👍
Ofc. wanna play only on my old fatty beloved console with epic blue vertical stand :)
Wow! So many QoL improvements. This is fantastic. This is my weekend plans.
Breathig new life into a game this old is just absolutely amazing. Big ups to the people who worked on this mod.
Shoutout to all the modder. It even more insane that this spec II mod also work on a original hardware. I can't wait to try the mod later on my PS2
I just started playing the mod, it's VERY GOOD, I'm loving the new features especially the new cameras, the hood camera should be the default, idk why pd preferred the roof over the hood, but my favorite it's being the inside camera, it adds a very cool immersion, however, you can't look back when using the inside camera, that's bothering me 😅
Known issue, will be fixed in an update later
great summary - much appreciated!
Aaaand there goes my weekend, or every weekend of the coming weeks :)
So exited that this finally released :)
God.... 😮😮😮😭👍👍👍😀😀😀😍😍😍 If there was a physical copy of the game like this, I'd buy that in a heartbeat... 😍💖💖💖
Now i need an excuse to don't go to work lol Downloading and gonna test it when i will be back from work!
I wonder if anyone at PD has seen this, they are probably both impressed and annoyed! Youve really taken it to another level and its all very classy and in their motifs
Valencia mentioned! 🇪🇦
Been waiting for this for so long! Cant wait to try it out later today. The only option i wish it had was a way to make the "wind" sound effect on the hood view quieter
There’s a PCSX2 cheat to disable wind entirely but not lower it for a certain view
@@RowdyGT you got a link or anything by chance? tried to find more cheats but all i found was the sensitivity fix and the camera changes
I don’t have a link but if you can find TheAdmiester’s GitHub they’re on there
After playing this game for a few hours I can only write this: I've gone back in time! This mod has the same feeling that I got when I played for the first in 2005! 🎉🎉🎉 💯 😎👍
This is awesome, if I were still playing the game, I'd be all over it, so many QoL changes.
I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I say "I've been looking forward to this"
it’s weird while true autosims of the era like rFactor/GTR/NASCAR Racing/F1 Challenge having hundreds and thousands of mods and new content being forgotten, there are bunch of fans that working hell hard on adding some new sounds and couple of cars into a game from consoles/closer source. To the game that wasn’t so special even on release date, but still is being played. GT fan base has the passion and fanaticism i’d like to see in more worthy classic autosims.
So dope! Thank you for the info!
My suggestion: make AI cars closer to each other (and to the player) in terms of power, such that if there are 3 AI drivers running 200HP-ish, 1200kg-ish cars, the other 2 are somewhat around 180HP to 220HP, and similar wheight classes, and not something as drastic as a Dodge RAM competing with a Viper in the same race as is currently (was the gap THAT large in the base game as well??)
Overrall, if the game is a solid 8.5/10, this mods easily brings it to a 9.25/10, but it CAN still be improved I think!
Awesome mod!
The interior camera mod is wild. The one and only thing I thougth gt4 was missing for being perfect
Wow, SO EXCITEDDD!!!!
This is some amazing quality of life changes.
Models from Tourist Trophy and most GT4 demos are the only things that can be ported to GT4O right now
@@RowdyGT#3: I meant if we can expect some new cars in GT3, not GT4.
The Game was great 20 years ago & this wonderful mod made it great again❤
I waited so long for this. Thank you so much.
Is there a way to donate to the devs?
Yes, Admiester has a donation link on the website

I still don't understand why Polyphony didn't use the same values for Vertigo and Lister as the real car.
The Lister is a conversion of GT2s Lister Storm Racing Modification.
For whatever reason PD just ported the specs of the Storm Road Car from GT2, hence it being overweight
we have this and gt2 a-spec, and i think gt3 has a few mods too, we just need a gt1 mod
I would really like to have an analog tachometer like GT3. I find it so much better for understanding the behavior of a car's power curve coming in and out of corners.
This is amazing. I hope we can get some new tracks. One new track is worth one hundred new cars imo.
That Looks Amazing! For sure i will play that!
We dont need remastered of this game its already perfect and remastered by community ❤
6:34 I can finally put R33 GT-R wheels on my cars that aren't a GT-R just like I've done irl, best feature.
GT4 remakes is still alive 🎉
been holding off from trying the game until this mod releases, can finally play GT4 for the first time
Two things i always hated about Gran Turismo is the vacuum like electric motor sounds.
Bom dia meu amigo Rowdy é venho aqui para acompanhar seu trabalho.
I bet the creator of GRAN TURISMO 4 "KAZUNORI YAMAUCHI" must be impressed with the most complete game he has ever seen. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU. You have made a GRAN TURISMO 4 "ULTIMATE" Edition.
Esses reajuste ficaram perfeitos. GT4 marcou muito minha infância !
