    I love how Andy has learned to play with his fingers and just uses his nails for pick tones, very cool and heaps of feel. A great player!!

    Added this to the board a few months ago to replace a tube screamer mini, wanted something more subtle. This pedal sounds amazing on any guitar. Really is the definition of transparent.

    After the pandemic, Andy should do a small club tour across the US where the does this live with 12 pedals; demoing live with commentary. I'd pay to see that in a small club where I can drink and enjoy good company. In certain cities, he can do "with special guests" and have people like JHS Josh join for a song/demo/commentary.

      Worse than The Crunge? Btw Houses of the Holy is actually my personal favorite (yes, I acknowledge II and IV are the best objectively) but The Crunge is right down there with Hot Dog in the tiny list of terrible songs they recorded, at least in my opinion. It just seems like a song they made up on the fly with no real direction or refinement and it has completely sloppy and amateurish vocals. It was a jam session that should have stayed that way. It still makes no sense to me that they recorded Houses of the Holy for the 5th album, cut it and released it later on Physical Graffiti, but didn't just cut The Crunge instead and leave Houses of the Holy on there. Speaking of Physical Graffiti, The Crunge would have fit well on the latter half though. I think if it had been released on an odds and ends album I would be more forgiving.

      I dunno. My bandmates hate The Crunge, but I love the drums (duh), and when I was learning Zeppelin on guitar it was one of the first so it still holds a special place in my heart.

    Does anyone know if this version still has noise problems with OneSpot type power supplies?

    • @arturorojasmora3177
      @arturorojasmora3177 7 років тому +2

      It's a digital pedal, so, it needs a lot of current to operate correctly. It ramps up the voltage internally from 9V to 18V, so you will need at least 100 mA. If you are going to use a OneSpot power supply, try to connect the morning glory First in the daisy chain (power, not your audio signal)... that way, the highest current draw is first. Then connect the rest of your analog pedals.
      Remember that when you use daisy chains, the current draw is substracted as you continue down the chain and keep in mind that the OneSpot type power supplies provide a maximum of 2000 mA.
      Let's say that you have a Big Sky (250 mA), a Morning Glory (100 mA) and a Fuzz Face (15 mA). Then you will have 2000mA-250mA-100mA-15mA=1635mA to power the rest of your chain... see how it goes?

      You can buy the JHS Double Barrel v4 and get this pedal + a ts808 in the right side of the pedal with a clean mix knob. It's pretty fantastic. You can dial in just as much as you want with the clean boost and get a solo boost with the red remote switch. Super versatile.

      @Nilly Sigger that's what I do. Green rhino (ts clone) -> Morning Glory. Keep the rhino low gain, and then crank the volume. Its great at thickening single coils, and you get to keep the mg as an always on light break up, but boosted at low gain it acts a lot like a tube amp, great natural break up.

    I’m sold. My only question is that some people have said that this overdrive is very noisy. That wouldn’t be good after spending 199.00 plus on it. Anybody know about this issue?

    Would you need pedals such as these if you have a Marshall? I'm a beginner.

    • @TheElectricCentaur
      @TheElectricCentaur 5 років тому +1

      You should definitely experiment with some nice pedals. Try and get some that are a good match for your amp and guitar/pickups.

      Stevie Ray Vaughn used Tubescreamers to goose his Marshall's and his Dumbles. It made his "clean" sound very full and thick.

    If there is one term I could ban from all descriptions of overdrives, it would be "transparent". The words "transparent" and "overdrive" are fundamentally incompatible. That being said, the MGv4 is certainly a nice-sounding overdrive. I only wonder why they don't simply put it in a bigger box with an integral gain mode switch.

    • @ericfricke4512
      @ericfricke4512 6 років тому +2

      I think people basically use it to refer to a drive pedal that retains the harmonic emphasis already there in the guitar and amp, instead of bumping the bass or the mids or treble a lot.

    • @d.j.ashley
      @d.j.ashley 5 років тому +2

      Nothing wrong with the term. It's just overused to describe pedals that have no business being called transparent. This isn't one of those pedals.

    Morning glory or soul food pedals? 🤔🤔

    • @elijahholloway3045
      @elijahholloway3045 5 років тому

      They are both very different beasts. The soul food is a Klon Centaur clone, and the Morning Glory is a Blues Breaker clone. They both sound great on their own. However, run together, you get a little something special. John Mayer is known for running a Klon into a BluesBreaker (I may have the order backwards, I don't remember), and for good reason! It sounds amazing. If you're choosing between the two, I'd go with the Morning Glory because it's got more tonal capabilities and dynamic range, but the Soul Food is much cheaper, so better on a tight budget. Eventually I'd recommend getting both to pair together.

  • @kilgoretrout321
    @kilgoretrout321 4 роки тому

    I find my Morning Glory cuts out the "body" of the sound from my amp. Some lows are lost, I think. And the tone knob just doesn't sound that good in any position. Makes me wonder why people like this pedal at all

    • @TheJofrica
      @TheJofrica 8 років тому +2

      annabelleshaus Ah, I can see that. Especially at higher gain settings. I wonder if it's cause it's a "transparent" pedal. I notice a lot of transparent drives doing that at higher gain, getting fizzy. I have a Timmy clone that does that. Maybe that's the trade off lol. Thanks for the response!

      The OCD is supposed to be a transparent overdrive and it has the same problem. I've heard a lot of Klones do the same thing and the original is supposed to be the ultimate transparent OD.
