After the pandemic, Andy should do a small club tour across the US where the does this live with 12 pedals; demoing live with commentary. I'd pay to see that in a small club where I can drink and enjoy good company. In certain cities, he can do "with special guests" and have people like JHS Josh join for a song/demo/commentary.
It's great watching one of Andy's videos after a while and remembering just how amazing he is. Not just at capturing iconic tones but playing them to such a high standard!
I love the Morning Glory. I play a Strat through all valve Marshalls. So many other OD pedals seem to turn the high end to fizz and the low end to mud.
Man, I was never a huge STP fan, but hearing that riff made me miss them. Tiny Music really was a great album. Trippin on a Hole has one of the greatest solos of all time.

I've been playing without a pic for years now it took a while to adjust but I'm glad I stuck with it I don't think it would suit shredding but I could never do that to start with but this guy really excels playing without one
as you can tell Andy loves pages playin style,and one of the things that makes page unique is the slop. Many of the old boot shows proves it , every concert page would change the tunes up just a little.Andy grew on zep and it shows here. Awesome!

Worse than The Crunge? Btw Houses of the Holy is actually my personal favorite (yes, I acknowledge II and IV are the best objectively) but The Crunge is right down there with Hot Dog in the tiny list of terrible songs they recorded, at least in my opinion. It just seems like a song they made up on the fly with no real direction or refinement and it has completely sloppy and amateurish vocals. It was a jam session that should have stayed that way. It still makes no sense to me that they recorded Houses of the Holy for the 5th album, cut it and released it later on Physical Graffiti, but didn't just cut The Crunge instead and leave Houses of the Holy on there. Speaking of Physical Graffiti, The Crunge would have fit well on the latter half though. I think if it had been released on an odds and ends album I would be more forgiving.
I dunno. My bandmates hate The Crunge, but I love the drums (duh), and when I was learning Zeppelin on guitar it was one of the first so it still holds a special place in my heart. I also think its a great lead in to Dancing Days and a great palate cleanser after Over the Hills.

I'd say so! I love Zep but it is a fact that Page can be a slopmaster. But that's not "bad" - The looseness of Page with the machine hammer of Bonham and JPJ is the magic secret sauce of the Zep sound.

No, def not. A transparent Drive based on the Marshall Blues Breaker circuit.Even eq across the range, with a second stage clipping option that can bring it up to almost Distortion. The BB is one of the 4 common clipping circuits, commonly called " transparent" because it dosent boost mids or reduce lows . IMO, the best pedal of it's type.

I would suggest listening to a J.Rockett Archer, the Ibanez 808,DOD 250, and the Morning Glory; gives you an idea of the 4 main circuits, then pick what you like.Everything else( except the Boss BD2) is a deviation on those circuits. Happy hunting.
It's a digital pedal, so, it needs a lot of current to operate correctly. It ramps up the voltage internally from 9V to 18V, so you will need at least 100 mA. If you are going to use a OneSpot power supply, try to connect the morning glory First in the daisy chain (power, not your audio signal)... that way, the highest current draw is first. Then connect the rest of your analog pedals. Remember that when you use daisy chains, the current draw is substracted as you continue down the chain and keep in mind that the OneSpot type power supplies provide a maximum of 2000 mA. Let's say that you have a Big Sky (250 mA), a Morning Glory (100 mA) and a Fuzz Face (15 mA). Then you will have 2000mA-250mA-100mA-15mA=1635mA to power the rest of your chain... see how it goes?
You can buy the JHS Double Barrel v4 and get this pedal + a ts808 in the right side of the pedal with a clean mix knob. It's pretty fantastic. You can dial in just as much as you want with the clean boost and get a solo boost with the red remote switch. Super versatile.
@Nilly Sigger that's what I do. Green rhino (ts clone) -> Morning Glory. Keep the rhino low gain, and then crank the volume. Its great at thickening single coils, and you get to keep the mg as an always on light break up, but boosted at low gain it acts a lot like a tube amp, great natural break up.

If there is one term I could ban from all descriptions of overdrives, it would be "transparent". The words "transparent" and "overdrive" are fundamentally incompatible. That being said, the MGv4 is certainly a nice-sounding overdrive. I only wonder why they don't simply put it in a bigger box with an integral gain mode switch.
I think people basically use it to refer to a drive pedal that retains the harmonic emphasis already there in the guitar and amp, instead of bumping the bass or the mids or treble a lot.
They are both very different beasts. The soul food is a Klon Centaur clone, and the Morning Glory is a Blues Breaker clone. They both sound great on their own. However, run together, you get a little something special. John Mayer is known for running a Klon into a BluesBreaker (I may have the order backwards, I don't remember), and for good reason! It sounds amazing. If you're choosing between the two, I'd go with the Morning Glory because it's got more tonal capabilities and dynamic range, but the Soul Food is much cheaper, so better on a tight budget. Eventually I'd recommend getting both to pair together.
I find my Morning Glory cuts out the "body" of the sound from my amp. Some lows are lost, I think. And the tone knob just doesn't sound that good in any position. Makes me wonder why people like this pedal at all

The OCD is supposed to be a transparent overdrive and it has the same problem. I've heard a lot of Klones do the same thing and the original is supposed to be the ultimate transparent OD.
I love how Andy has learned to play with his fingers and just uses his nails for pick tones, very cool and heaps of feel. A great player!!

You should definitely experiment with some nice pedals. Try and get some that are a good match for your amp and guitar/pickups.
Stevie Ray Vaughn used Tubescreamers to goose his Marshall's and his Dumbles. It made his "clean" sound very full and thick.

What did you not like about it?
The drive is a little too abrasive to me--too grinding and alot of fizziness.
annabelleshaus Ah, I can see that. Especially at higher gain settings. I wonder if it's cause it's a "transparent" pedal. I notice a lot of transparent drives doing that at higher gain, getting fizzy. I have a Timmy clone that does that. Maybe that's the trade off lol. Thanks for the response!
Totally agree
The OCD is supposed to be a transparent overdrive and it has the same problem. I've heard a lot of Klones do the same thing and the original is supposed to be the ultimate transparent OD.
