MCN have definately employed a new editor for their videos, I enjoyed that, Clear picture, no where near as much wind noise as on previous videos and overall a very good test.
Good job lads! : )
Thanks MCN for improving leaps and bounds on the video quality and camera shots. Felt brilliant watching them.
Love the way it was shot and edited together. Beautiful!
Filmed and edited by Ian Jubb. Keep it up! This was far and away the best video production you have ever done!
Can i just say to any of the MCN team these videos have some of the best camera work, and are beautifully shot, hollywood would be proud
I am a huge Motorcycle enthusiast (allthough I don't have a Bike yet), and this video, as well as other videos from MCN are fantastic. This kind of video transmits the energy and excitment of riding a Motorcycle!!! Congratulations!!!
I'll have to agree and stress how much more pleasurable it is to watch something that is obviously been put together with a lot more intelligence and effort than your previous video's.
I love MCN and I love your video's and I'll be very happy to see this level of editing continuing throughout 2010.
I test drove a fully loaded model today and IT IS AWESOME. Great feel on the road (you can feel every bump but it doesn't throw the bike off it's line) handles well and turn-in is quick (feels more maneoverable yet holds like better than some early 2000 600cc sport bikes). Pulls well from 3,000 to 6,000 then just takes off all the way to redline at 14,000 RPM!!!!!!! Slipper clutch makes aggressive downshifting smooth and quick, while the shift assist is nice.
I wanted to say great video. The cinematography and sound track were far better than other MCN videos in the past, good presenting also. Keep up with the awesome videos.
Awesome Video... Best looking MCN Video I have seen to date. Camera work, Music, editing, flow... excellent!
BEST mcn video ever!!! (crisp resolution & slick editing)
Rode the S1000RR at the Keith Code California Superbike School at Sears Point early this week. Great bike. Felt like I was sitting on CBR600RR. Corners like one too, but an ass load more oomph on the throttle. Didn't get to test it out in race mode, but sport mode was still impressive. Felt a little spoiled with the shift assist and other tech. Aside from the strange headlights and a constant problem getting to neutral from first - maybe a minor tuning issue - no strong complaints. I want it.
great test and absolutely super camera work, one of the best till date. Keep it up
i hav seen a lot of ur videos....but this is the best test u have ever done!!!
True, it's nice to see MCN's video in shit hot quality. It's amazing I watched it over and over again to see those beautiful bikes in HQ with the new camera man. Keep him, brilliant
I have to say that this video really sets a new bar for the lads at MCN - awesome work! The s1000rr seems to be a bike to count on from now on.
Wow, is this a decent quality MCN video. Whoever is filming...keep him. Great video content and quality!
Awesome, amazing bike! I bought mine about a month ago and recently go to run it out here in the UK on Silverstone raceway. Absolutely amazing compared to my other bikes ( 07' YZF-R6, 08' GSXR-1000) and my friends 1198SP corse. I have yet to give the new fireblade or the RSV4 a go but I don't think they will compare with the power and the features. Not to mention the amazing service you get with the bike, warranty included. Two thumbs up BMW, you definitely got it right!
The best part about the S1000 is that it is BMW's FIRST EVER 4 cyl. 1000cc super bike! Their very first time...and LOOK what they have made! A truly brilliant masterpiece! My friend will be in the market for a brand new liter bike within the next sixth months. I do a lot of research and know a lot about motorcycles. I was pointing him toward the CBR1000 for its light weight and super smooth handling and throttle response. I'm going to look into the S1000 a bit more though!
the best MCN video they have ever made!! finaly a good camera with good sound quality! but more engine noise would be awsome
jesus christ MCN, please please please make all of your videos like this, was excellent :D
Nice to see a decent video.
No noise from the exhausts, which makes a nice refreshing change.
Great video. Good quality and good angles. Great content as well! All your videos should be like this! Well done! :)
Sweet mother MCN, KEEP making videos like this! Awesome, awesome, awesome job Ian!!
finally something that doesn't look like it was thrown together in 10 minutes.. very nice editing!
amazing review. i have wanted the BMW s1000rr for a while and i cant wait to get one this summer (alaska) and again awesome review 5*
Ian Jubb Did a great job with the video and editing work...... I'm a suzuki guy my self but I can't wait to see that BMW in person
Nice camera angles, do some more in this style, just fantastic.
In the last scene I noticed where his elbow was leaning on a window ledge that there were some rusted bushes and nut's and bolts that look like they come from a 1976 T140V Triumph Bonneville (securing the top of the engine to the frame). Since that's my bike would you guy's be nice and go out there and pick them up and put them in a bag and send them to me as I could use the spare parts. Thanks Peter
@windi1982 the bmw has dry weight (183kg) and the gsxr has (176kg) we are talking about (16kg) difference, thats a very big divergence on a super bike.
Compared to some lots of MCN's other videos the way best edited one!! :D nice
First of all, congratulations on the quality of the film and editing. Did you get a dedicated high-end camcorder? Or are you filming using a DSLR? It's hard to tell. :)
Onto the bikes.. the BMW may be the best, but it is by far the ugliest thing out there. Is Chris Bangle in charge of motorrad design as well?
Best MCN video yet! Thanks so much! :)
183 rwhp is impressive. The goal posts have been moved in the same way the 1998 Yamaha R1 and 2001 GSXR1000 did. A stone stock 190-200 rwhp 1000cc bike is just around the corner.
You're a smart guy. The guys that thumb you down have no idea. The Honda Fireblade is the only thing that comes close to the BMW all around. BikeUK has a great test shootout between the 2 in their last month magazine.
This is the best video to date in terms of cinematography.
Like the new camara/video cam,lot better quality for viewing,i never thought i would see the day when BMW made a sports bike like this, ahh to be old..
Best MCN video review by far.
Awesome HD video and editing guys!
you can tell they have invested in a quality HD camera, makes a hell of a difference boys :D
keep it up.
Great video. Being a magazine and wanting to promote brands you use, could you please tell me what camera you have strapped to the bikes
maybe it's ok to leave out rc8 or 1198, but where is aprilia's rsv4???? It is a 998.9cc to be exact, wonder why it's nt included.....
Very Nice! Was this video shot with a Canon 5D?
tis is ur best test....define each bike neatly n given credit 2 each of them...de 2011 shootout sux..please do something like tis!!
1:09 what exhaust is that? and the year of that bike if somebody can tell me thanks !
I bet it was a 5D, makes a huge difference in the quality of these videos!
mcn used to have shitty camera work and the audio was also crap.
Now they have awesome camera work and audio and the review was top notch.
Thank you mcn
I totally agree with windi1982! What do you want 200hp on a road bike for??? Don't you think that Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki could put out a 250hp road bike on the market if they want to? Of course they could, they all have that potential. The difference between them an BMW is that they leave that to the racing teams, and instead build road bikes that are powerful and fast enough and durable, which is one of the most important things to someone who's going to buy a supersport road bike.
quality of this video is much better than your previous stuff
look at that video, i'm impressed. well done. and nice review of bikes.
hi....i'm french so my english is very bad, but i live at 20 minutes of the Route Napoleon , I like this road and I hope that you took some pleasure to run above.
thank's for this test and for your vidéo.
@++on the french road ;)
Much much better videos than usual.
amazing camera i have to say, it's a lot more clearer than before!!!!!
great video, whats the music playing in the background?
nice camera work! does anybody know which camera was used?
Good job on the video MCN!
Are there any new 1 litre sport twins?
loving this beemer more and more. It just seems to be the perfect machine for average rider like me
i am ducati rider, but you guys are good. bmw, is fab looking bike.
good job guys. i like the review as well you great riders. no bs, clear direct to the point. 5*****
@circumambulate you forgot the mentions BREAKS!!!!!! phenomenal breaks!
very nice roads, that places looks wonderfull. where ist that?
Why not test it against RSV4 or 1198?. I test rode BMW and RSV4 and preferred RSV4. My previous bike was 1098.
Awesome quality. Makes a huge difference!
Congrats! truly an amazing bike, you will love every bit of it. Ride safe.
Hi, i'm from malaysia. i've been wondering why Adam Child and Micheal Neeves has never shown up together. you MCN guys are the best. i've watched all of your post videos. i recommand you guys should ride in sepang. TQ.
do u hold the cluch while u do turns?
Bikes aside these are some of the best shot reviews you will find anywhere in the world, camera action, location, contents are all good.......but Bruce can you loose those shades next time
much better videos now good 1 MCN
@89powerup: All of these bikes are basically the same. The BMW just borrows some nifty little things from the BMW F1 program to make the most power. The truly different contemporary superbikes are the KTM RC8R, Ducati 1198, and Aprilia RSV4 because they use an engine arrangement that isn't an inline 4.
All of those tested bikes are great! You can't go wrong which ever one you choose. Just don't count in the TRIUMPH DAYTONA. LOL!
finally mcn got their act together after a bit of verbal abuse and put together a professional looking well edited video!!! bravo i say bravoooooo,
more like this, nice and long as well!!
@ivgood I believe it's the 2010 GSXR1000.
Wow...you guys got a new video team? kudos
Very nice! Keep up the great work!
what's the tune in beginning?
the bmw is miles ahead in price as well though! you also didn't include the ducati in your tests as well. I think the best bike for the money is down to the blade or the r1
Good review - very comprehensive.
Decent camera work for a change, nice.
Great vid. Top marks guys!
Top notch group test. BMW is the new bully on the block, but it's the rider that still makes the difference. Ben Spies could proberly win SBK with a bone stock R1!
I'm a Kawasaki guy but I will admit the new BMW Looks very good!
HELP! Ive had my 600cc for a couple years and would like to step up to 1000cc..I like the bmw and its price out the box but howzabout maintenance? Sure its better than the big 4 bikes but I dont want to spend double the amount for an exhaust, crashcage, and everything else n Id like to install myself. euro stuff (cars, bikes) seems to all be "need a special tool so have to take it into a dealer and spend another $500"..anybody have alot of experience working on eurobikes who could help me out?
what music starts on 0.46 ??
This BMW S1000RR is such an extraordinarily good bike! the only thing that is not perfect in my opinion is the light design. this bike with the ducati looks would result a bike of a century!
and never forget: this bike is made in Europe and not 6000 miles away in japan
now you guys use DSLR to shot the video?
nice camera work this time round, would still take the R1
He looked happy to sit on this great car too .. wish I was seeing them ... but I'm too far away that it is a pity ..
Its a good bike but needs some serious reving before it makes decent power then the top end is great, its more like a track wepon but it's not bad to ride.
The s1000rr has the most advanced technology inside!!!!!!!!! EXAMPLE? The weight of the Fireblade abs is 12 - 13 kg!!!! The BMW abs just 2,5 kg!!!!! The s1000rr has a full loaded weight (without driver) of 206,5 kg with ABS and DTC (traction control)! And the most power from the first gear up to the sixth!!! I tested the bike, you can throw the s1000rr from corner to corner like a 600ccm bike with endless power!!!
AMAZING!!!!!
@hosenhochable, I also didn't say that but I'm pretty sure it weight a lot on the guys at MCN's decisions.
whats the problem with its electronics?
Got to test it last weekend .. to be honest .. i loved the bike . to be more honest . i hate the Brakes. (the ZX6-R got better brakes ). love how smooth is the throttle hate how bad the kick at the on/off position of the throttle tho . handles better easier than my ZX-6R am not kidding it can fall so easy into the corners . dose not feel so powerful AT ALL .. it dose about the same as any 1000cc on our track end of the straight .. over all .. it an easy bike to handle . no BS in this . +10
0:35 was that Exhaust burning or something?
o_O
@ManiaCop100
about bloody time they updated their filming gear/editing!!
nicely shot!!
can everybody tell me what they say about the electrics?
i cant understand the uk accent!:(
I agree with resomer. The Bmw isn't that expensive when you compare it to other bikes. In Germany it costs the same as a R1 without ABS+DTC and I think the BMW is the best package for that money.
nice editing !
@anshumanabhisek
fireblade is still has the fastest lap, the bmw is behind by half a second or so..
fireblade is my favorite until the s1000comes out,
but i like both the cbr1000rr and the s1000rr
Hey I know you, I can't agree more Dan, it's almost as if the Top Gear guys came over for a job
