    Thanks for uploading these videos and please keep them coming! I'm planning on rearing my own triops soon. So far I have a filtered and lit 1 gallon which I will upgrade to a 10 gallon in the future. So far I'm only going to raise the commercial triop L. But I'll diversify in the future!

If you succeeded and would be interested in some cool other species that you can find on my instagram/UA-cam, feel free to contact me! I do ship to the USA. The eggs come pure and are offspring from the Triops featured in my video's! I dont have a website, so orders are by chat or mail: triassicparktriops@gmail.com 🙏 In case you ever need some help that isnt featured in one of my video's, feel free to contact me aswell!

    I I've hatched and raised triops on and off for the last 10 or so years where I have had to buy new triops every time I wanted to hatch more. I feel like every egg produced by the triops in the kits were sterile. I would go thru all necessary steps to ensure a healthy hatching environment to no avail. It may be due to the kits I bought as they were commercial kits from stores like Walmart. They dont sell very much so I know they sit for very long periods of time. I know time doesnt really matter for the most part. But maybe something with the packaging or something effect the eggs. But then again, those initial eggs hatch just fine. It's the offspring that dont hatch. I ended up giving up due to these issues. But now that I've come across your videos I have been inspired to give it another go. This time with my children. We have "sea monkeys" right now that they have been taking great care of. So I think they will do great with triops.

      @@TriassicParkTriops oh, I can't believe I didn't see your response until just now. Thank you so much! I wasn't saying the offspring not hatching due to faulty kits. I was actually asking if that could be a possibility because I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. So I was just trying to think of all the possibilities. I still don't know for certain what I was doing wrong, but I have been able to successfully get eggs drom my adults that ive raised to hatch finally. Perhaps it was my temp not being warm enough. I have since been hatching them under a grow light that I also use to hatch my brine and fairy shrimp, that puts off a tiny bit of heat and they all hatch quite fast. Tho and major difference is i am also getring my original triops from a different source. So, idk.lol. I'm so glad I found your channel. I have learned so much from you. Tfs!

    Great video as always! May I ask why you leave the light on 24/7 rather than just start off with a day/night cycle?

    • @TriassicParkTriops
      @TriassicParkTriops  3 роки тому +5

      It kinda gives a big advantage on the hatching part. The difference: 24/7=hatching within 24h with a light scheme=48-72h sometimes. But because the 24/7 scheme cant be broken off for 9 days (otherwise the switch can kill them) you might get an algae bloom due to the high lighting. (The 24/7 method is really for increased hatching)

    Hello! I am interested in starting my own triops colony from eggs, i know their lifespan is super short. How do i manage to grow colony when they live so short? Do they lay eggs a lot? Or will they guarantee to give offspring in their lifespan? Thank you!

    • @TriassicParkTriops
      @TriassicParkTriops  3 роки тому +3

      Their lifespan is pretty short indeed but the fun is in harvesting your eggs and hatching/ doing it over and over again, mimicking natural cycles of drying the eggs,hatching them. Taking care of the Triops and harvesting the eggs 👊

  • @snailsandfriends

    Very interesting, do you change the water inside the containers? Is it really necessary to keep the light for 9 days? Did you try to keep it not always on?

    • @TriassicParkTriops
      @TriassicParkTriops  3 роки тому +4

      Yes i frequently change some of the water in the hatcheries every 2-3 days depending on the colony size that's inside. A rather large colony, Lets say 25+ Triops in a 1L hatchery does pollute the container pretty fast.
      After a while its fine to start Transferring dirty water into the aquarium and taking fresh aquariumwater back into the hatchery ( You can also decide to throw away the dirty water and refill the aquarium, but I personally think that adding some "dirty hatchery water" to your aquarium might actually help while you're cycling your tank in the first two weeks :)
      I recently switched to 16 Hours light for hatching and after Lets say 6-10 days I switch it 12. In my next setup I want to try to even reduce it to 8 Hours. I found some information stating that this could add some extra days to their lifespan. Worth it to try out to say the least! 🙏

    Hey Triassic Park Triops, I have a few questions about hatching as I want to start my own colony eventually. As you pointed out in the video you need to hatch them in rainwater or distilled water with added minerals before you can add them into an aquarium with treated tap water. My question is, once their adults and start laying eggs of their own will I have to harvest the eggs and put them into distilled water/rainwater like the ones I started off with or will they be fine to leave and hatch in the main aquarium seeing as the adults have established themselves

    • @TriassicParkTriops
      @TriassicParkTriops  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Bubben, Really good question. The eggs need to go trough a dry-period. Triassic Park Triops has a Tutorial video on several methods to extract your eggs. After drying the eggs you can basically add the eggs to a new Hatchery and start all over again! You can also use this method to chain-hatch several generations in a row if you have some smaller (perhaps disappointing) numbers in each hatchery surviving 🙏

    So when I put some dried up leaves from outside into my hatchery, it released a lot of tannins into the hatchery. I presume this means more acidic water, so I put a small limestone in the hatchery to compensate. Does this seem like it will work to increase pH?
