How long do these water pumps usually last? Is the water chlorinated?

The water does not need to be chlorinated. You can add some every now and again to clear up the water color if your yard has dust or debris but it is not required. The pumps are standard Pond pumps that include the same warranty but because they do not run 24/7 they last much longer. Essentially you have a timer or on/off switch you set for the pump.
