Great video as always! Guaranteed quality! I'm testing a list (Shield Host) that I'll be bringing to the WIT in November here in Italy. I've played about ten games with it, so it's too early to draw conclusions, but it's working well at the moment. (BladeChamp + 4 Guards) x3, (3Venatarii) x3, (Witchseeker) x2, Prosecutor(x1), (Land Raider) x2 Two blocks of Guards in the Land Raiders and the other one DeepStrikes with the 3x Venatarii. At first, I was skeptical about the double Land Raider. I tried them almost as a joke, but I soon realized they significantly improve the Custodes' durability. They don’t shoot as well as a Caladius, but they provide notable mobility for the Guards, take down screens, hold objectives, and score points.
@@Happykrumpingwargaming007 There are several answers to these questions: 1-I don't use Valerian because the 3-damage DevWound from the BCs are really useful for handling tough situations, especially with the reroll guaranteed by the Guardians. On average, they deal 3 to 6 mortal wounds, sometimes even up to 9. pretty Brutal! Three big men like that can change the game. 2- Additionally, the BCs provide much more mobility for the list. If I go first, I move the LRs and withstand the opponent's firing round with smoke and a bit of luck😜 then, on my second turn, I disembark, move, and charge (the disembark is like a 3" advance), without activating the BC ability, which is usually saved for the third turn, allowing me to move another 16" on average elsewhere (move + advance + charge). If I go second, I move the LR, disembark, charge, and replicate the above. This dynamic works especially well with the rapid ingress of 9 Venatarii and another block of Guards with BC. Sorry for the wall of text.😁
Thanks for the video Mr. Krumpin! I always think that the saddest thing when a faction is down bad is the disinterest from content creators...you're showing true love for the golden ones, hurrrah!
Ive started running a solo bike captain with halls of armouries and the hurricane bolter as a swiss army knife unit for secondaries and sitting on the natural primary objective He makes a neat 12 inch bubble from the objective that he can run off kill something then move back to it with his ability so i still score primary Edit: also totally forgot to mention the main reason why I started taking him, his ability is especially good at safely removing move blockers/screens and moving back behind cover
I'm glad you've bigged up talons. I really love that detachment. One juicy thing you can do, which I admit is a bit expensive, is use the +1 to wound on a guard squad to make them infantry shredders hitting on 2s and wounding on 2s re rolling 1s. It's my favourite way to show up to objectives I don't control
I've been running 15 venatari, 2 grav tanks, BC w/ wardens, couple of sisters and Kyria's guard unit. It's treated me well in UKTC, even if it can be light on secondary. The go turn is crazy, similiar to your allarus list, probably just a bit harder to screen the 6 man veni compared to the allarus.
I've been running a lot of MSU custodes now and having 7-8 units of stuff with sisters still is great. I don't own any Forgeworld as its Forgeworld, but I'm consistently doing well.
Those last 2 are definitely interesting lists. I think the allarus are definitely discounted by the custodes community right now. I'm playing custodes all infantry in a teams tournament next week, wish me luck.
Thanks for the lists... Regarding your feedback on Caladius Grav-Tank feeling over-costed, I found they are beasts when investing 1CP for Archeotech Munitions sustain 5s. Absolutely smash any heavy armor, knights, etc.
lol, probably because it is impossible to get caladius grav tanks with sus on 5's. It cant be done, the strat gives you sus on 6's, which mathmatically does not even net you a single extra hit.
@@Happykrumpingwargaming007 Oh, damn have I been playing that wrong? I thought the strat also enables Martial Mastery on ranged... Thanks for the correction and I am so sorry to my opponents for the rules mistake
@@Happykrumpingwargaming007 Awesome, that's what I was leaning towards, the extra attack and AP is worth it over the extra S & damage. Do you think this list works? i more or less would always start my 5 man on the table, since you can pick them back up into reserves if you go second and then still deepstrike them turn one
Hi, 3x3 Venatari are 495pt and the limit reserves is 500 in a 2000pt games, so how can you put a 4th unit in reserve? Am I missing some tech piece? Nice vid, BTW.
How come on the first list you aren't taking Draxus with Guard? I swap the 3rd unit of wardens for Draxus & Guard plus an extra prosecutor to hold my home. Also, in the first list, I'm not sure what is supposed to hold that objective! What's the plan there?
Wardens hold objectives, and then whatever you want moves up behind them. I also am not a big fan of Draxus. I dont need help killling infantry but yeah some people like her
Oh, right. I meant the home objective specifically. What are you typically putting there? Tbf i think Valerian or Wardens do it just as well, but i like the late game Ranged threat she often ends up being after leaving her on the natural for several turns.
No Draxus eh? Are these even Custodes lists lol. Also, thoughts on Pyrithite spears with mech armies. I've been running them with the shield captain with pyrithite spear aswell for more melta shots, rapid ingressing and then shoot and charge giving them double karate!! In shield host.
i think they are overpriced an poor tbh. But i am glad to see you throwing some innovation out there. I also dont particuarly rate draxus. Likely because i run allarus and need 0 help killing infantry
@jameswilkinson4632 because I rapid ingress with them so they're closer to my target. You could also try a landraider or a cronos grav carrier if you have one to get closer, but I haven't tried that yet.
Well at least we didn't get nerfed or had units legend. To my limited skill and army build, match up with necrons didn't really change, WE maybe got better abd IG is really unfun to play against. No idea how other match ups are. The idea that FW is obligatory to have an army sucked before the points change and suck post change too.
Gotta disagree about dreadnoughts, ive been having some good results with the galatus as a replacement for an MSU guard unit. The -1 to wound is bonkers good on a 165pt model and makes it a great speed bump
@@Happykrumpingwargaming007 yeah, it only works in melee. They're definitely a little slow for shooting matchups, but they have a role in melee matchups. To protect them as they enter the midfield I've been abusing the terrain features that combine a large plate with one of the smaller 4x6" plates.
@@Happykrumpingwargaming007 yeah, im taking allarus in my main list. They feels good, but easy to screened out. However, I think that 2 Telemon + 1 grav tank could be a new meta because of price and 24 devestating wounds shots (+sustained hits in SH detachment). But overall in most of the games against good tournament players you feel bad because your special ability is “move 6/10” and “double RI”. Just sad
