@@HypertrophyCoach Shouldn't the line of force relative to which we get the external moment arm length come vertically "from the ground" (from the middle of the foot)?
Based off of what you said in this video, I would make the argument that the sumo deadlift would be better for training the glutes. You made the claim that in the conventional, the fibers of the glutes line up with the line of pull, but the glute fibers don't run up and down. They run more diagonal. Exactly in the line of pull that would be happening in the sumo DL.
I just came from your RDL video. I use DL as my heavy back and never touch RDL's. After watching your video though, I'm going to give RDL's a go to see how I like them.
*Joe* what do you think about the Barbell Hack Squat? It's a hybrid between a conventional Deadlift but instead the bar is behind you and touching the calves, hamstrings and glutes. I tried it and it felt akward, weird and uncomfortable, but it hit the quads very hard because I felt my quads pretty much during the entire range of motion.
Thanks for pointing out the arbitrary-ness of things. Some of these things would have been so obvious to me if we weren't inundated with so much dogmatic advice that's more concerned about keeping up traditions or even things that are practically training religions instead of being as objective as possible.
Also, wanted to give a shout out Disney, Pixar, and whoever else does your animations and graphics. High dollar stuff!! Haha jk super simple stuff but makes the most sense.
It's easier to pull sumo than conventional but you have to be careful. When I do sumo, I always have pain in my right hip like it's trying to dislocate.
your videos are great! If you don´t mind, please make a basic barbell bench press video. Differences between powerlifting and bodybuilding and how to manipulate the exercise to build muscle, not strength, especially for people with long femurs. Thank you very much for sharing so much great content
what are your thoughts on pump work as someone who seems to use a relatively low volume, do you still use it?, if so how do you implement it and how much do you use it
Hey Joe, great video as always! Would you say for someone who feels their glutes work "too much" during a narrower stance squat that doing a sumo stance squat would be a better option to feel your glutes work less?
I'd say feeling your glutes during a squat mostly has to do with how upright you squat. The more upright your squat is the more you'll feel your quads, the bent over your squat is the more you'll feel your glutes. This has to do with a longer moment arm on the quads or the glutes, depending on how upright you are. Simple example is the difference between highbar squat and lowbar squat.
@@BastadNKunt i dont even understand the question. just observe the torque and muscle lengths at which are being overloaded throughout the whole range - theres your answer

Sumo is cheating as always lol. But solid video Joe thank you for the break down. Sumo as you mentioned is great for your inner thigh. But if you have that adductor machine that's way more preferable
Just a rant to the people who likes to complain about everything from lebron James is better than Jordan, messi or Ronaldo is better, sumo or conventional instead of appreciating both hahahaaaa

When you say Glutes, which ones? Doesn't the sumo emphasize the medius more?
Yates row vs bent over row? which is better for muscle building? (video idea)
🙌🏼 solid points contrary to a lot of coaches preaching sumo for glutes but your ending is perfect, everyone is different.
Hey JOE...you’re the best. Thanks a lot.

Great video!! Would be very nice with a similar video but for high var vs low bar squats :)
High anavar squats would be superior to low bar
The meat has to go inside your hands🤣🤣 your sense of humor only makes the knowledge better!
Great information
Appreciate the effort , thanks alot
Hey Joe I am a member of your website... Can I make this video in my language to pass the information??
Thank you . Do you have any suggestions for exercise for me to grow my biceps and triceps? Help
Tricep extensions twice a week, and bicep curls twice a week. Make sure you do a couple warm up sets, then do one set to failure for each.
Hey joe, I workout at home and only have access to a squat rack, bench and a barbell. Would sumo deadlifts be a good substitute for leg press ?
Do squats buddy leg presses are gay as is
What u need a replacement for
Key word squat rack
Hit sumo and conventional
And squat
the squat itself is more akin to a leg press
what are your thoughts on pump work as someone who seems to use a relatively low volume, do you still use it?, if so how do you implement it and how much do you use it
I incorporate at the end of pretty much every session when my recovery is good
Great explanation as always! Waiting for that comparison between RDLs and CDLs.
None. RDL's and Rack Deads..😅😅
Exactly!
I bet Larry Wheels has an impressive Stabby PR

Sumo for leg development. Conventinal for back development. done

Sumo vs conventional is lame, real ones know how hard sumo is technically, coming from myself who has never done a sumo in my life
