I love how Riddle tutors everyone even the third years and single handedly raised his dorm's scores by himself. Also Kalim helps his dormmates from time to time just not academically. Idia also grew up in fucking STYX bro. Bro grew up with NO social interaction 😭😭😭
Yeah Riddle and Kalim are such sweethearts, but they show their love for their dorms in very different ways lol~ Poor Idia has been debuffed from the start :(
@@tylercoep0588 Riddle really goes above and beyond his duties in that sense. I mean can you imagine sacrificing your free time to tutor people without even getting paid for it? Something that in the end only gives you more work since the dorm being full only makes your job that much harder?
Lol, the ending 😂. As much as I love Mal, practically speaking, Vil might be the best. He interacts more with his dorm mates, & is the Overblot who has shown the most growth & self awareness. But congrats to Malleus! 😂
Fair enough! Tbh if I didn't create a bunch of rules for myself to follow this list would have looked a lot different and a certain model probably would have been crowned. But so it goes~
Riddle is at least improving himself. Heck, Book 2, he's learning how to dial himself back. He appears during multiple books, so we kinda see where his character development is going.
Fair enough. I feel like we really get to see a lot of the Heartslabuyl boys growth since they're so integral to the MC's friend group, and Riddle is no exception to that like you've mentioned.
His changes are the most visible among the dorm leaders but if I am going to be honest he really only had to control his temper for everyone to be happy. The main issue everyone else had with Riddle was that he was taking his temper out on everyone and going overboard. They might not agree with how anal he was about the rules but it was the disproportional punishments caused by his temper flaring so much that people really disliked. Once he started controlling his temper and stopped taking his bad day out on everyone he was fine. Riddle is a likable person, he just needed anger management and a healthy environment for everyone else to see that.
20:54 Tbh, I suspect that those threats on Kalim's life aren't coming from outsiders, but from "inside the house", so to speak. In the JP version, it's mentioned that he has over 40 siblings. The only way for that to be possible outside of adoption, which seems unlikely, is if his father had a harem. Kalim is the heir to his family legacy. I can easily see a situation where one of the other wives tried to poison Kalim to make their kid the heir instead, since that happened plenty of times throughout history and I don't see the Asims being any different.
That's honestly super fair, and you're probably right that it was an internal affair! I keep forgetting such things happen in large families like that... especially since whenever Kalim talks about his family so positively. Though I suppose that is also his character haha
@sylvernoct My interpretation is that Kalim is just an unreliable narrator thanks to him purposefully ignoring the more fucked up parts of his family and dissociating. If you read between the lines, his father comes off as an off-screen villain. An actually kind man wouldn't use child labour, make a kid a poison tester, make a whole family "servants" work for his till they die or bribe the school to make his son enter among plenty of other shit he has done. Plus, a lot of things in the game make more sense with that in mind like why Jamil is forced by his parents to keep his head down. Idk, that's just my hc or theory, anyhow.
That makes a lot sense to me and I think you make some very valid points. If that's truth of the matter then it certainly adds more depth to not only Kalim/Jamil characters, but to their entire dynamic. It also makes me way more concerned for poor Jamil :( He really doesn't deserve all the stress... True or not this is very fascinating, thank you for brining it up~!
Since the characters & story are also based off the Middle East, extended family are also a possibility. The parents, siblings & relatives of the other wives would also benefit from having a different heir. In Jamil's case, I think the whole thing started out because of his parents. A dedicated enough parent would try to get their children out of such a cycle. The obligation to serve the Asims when a legacy like that has put money in your pocket, is understandable. But not everyone feels that way. Hence, the Asims' ability to exploit Jamil. My guess is that Kalim's mother requested having Jamil as a companion because the Vipers are trustworthy, & his father agreed. Which put Jamil in a dangerous position.
5:47 Riddle and Trey as a relationship is such a complex dynamic with the way they bounce off each other while leading Heartslabyul; one is more practical while the other brings empathy. "in extension of him expressing his care in this way" normalise blaming Mrs. Roseheart FOR EVERYTHING 8:20 Random thought that could just be me headcanoning... but one of the possible reasons why Leona fought so hard for Book 2 is because for some Savanaclaw students playing in Magift, they *NEVER* had a real chance of winning in the sport festivals with Malleus around. Like remember how Malleus arrived and it was said that ever since he came, Savanaclaw was on a losing streak? That means that for a majority of 3rd years in the Book 2, this was their last _and only chance_ to participate in the competition because they'd be off to internships in their 4th year. Pro league recruiters were also going to watch the festival (mentioned in canon) and scout potential players but with Diasomnia always topping for the past 2-3 years? Savanaclaw had no chance of winning so Leona had to use different means (despite Crowley giving him an easier solution at the start..stubborn lion man smh) Point is, Leona cares about his dorm members and he even sees them as his reason to keep going in life (mentioned in the novel) despite his tough love type of way to show it. I agree, I really like the Trey/Riddle interactions. They balance each other out so well which I think works to Heartslabyul's benefit, but it's also tricky since apart the two can be a bit extreme on their respective sides of the spectrum. I suppose that's what I get for not reading the novel lol, but that adds some interesting color to his character for sure! Aw thanks~ I'm glad you're enjoying the videos :)
Personally for me, I’d give Kalim a 5/10 for his care of his dorm mates. While he can’t actually help them with academics, he can support them emotionally and various ways, mostly involving his money. Of course, my head canon of Kalim is just me making him more capable and aware of himself and others 😅

Vil has everyone's nutricional requirements memorized, and he would bet Malleus can't name 10 students of Diasomnia without mentioning his little entourage. A coin flip. Malleus: Very pleased , not exactly about the accomplishment itself, but because he is feeling petty about not being invited to the housewarden meetings. Will mention it in passing on a letter to his grandmother. Sebek is engaging in what could be called "belicose celebrating", with the most enthusiastic use of a vulvuzela you will ever see. Yeah we're like his first non-briar valley human friend and I don't think the MC realizes just how big of a deal that is. I'm happy you enjoyed the video!
I love that Malleus and Vil is the first, they're really the characters who strive to improve their dormmates and interact with them normally, their dormmates also have the closest relationship to each other (like Vil is always close with Epel and Rook, much like how Malleus is always with Lilia Sebek and Silver)

@@sylvernoct True. It’s just upsetting because if the MC had truly been listening to Malleus and possessed even a smidge of empathy, then the MC would have responded better to Malleus.
I think age should also play a factor, since Riddle actually ranked the highest among the 2nd year Housewardens so super impressive as those who beat him for the title of best Housewarden consists of either actual Royalty (Leona and Malleus) or celebrities so famous they might as well be (Vil).
It's very fair to say Riddle is impressive for his age with his academic achievements, for sure! It's something I think even Azul comments on at one point too. I just didn't equate book smarts to leadership directly, however I'll admit this info probably should have impacted Riddle's personality bit more than it did. I do think I ranked him a little low there tbh... poor guy had the unfortunate fate of being first.
@ He also leads a very full dorm compared to the other Housewardens and since he started in his tenure in his first year that means that he was not only able to complete his Housewarden duties while maintaining top marks in his year but that he was also able to do both WHILE tutoring both his peers and upper year levels. Like some of those seniors will owe their diplomas to Riddle. That’s super impressive when you consider he lacks the resources and connections available to people like Kamil, Vil and Malleus.
Sorry for the long essay but in the case of Leona, there are many reasons why he doesn't like going home and very likely caused himself to be held back on purpose is because: 1. Leona was very emotionally neglected growing up and we already know from his flashback that he was feared and hated because of his UM. On top of that, during his years living in the palace, the staff would openly compare him to Farena, who was 10 years older, and put him down just because he's more introverted and reserved. You can imagine how that makes him feel always going back to that same place that possibly made him feel suffocated his entire life. 2. His views on how the Sunset Savanna should be run clashes greatly with his family and retainers, having a very progressive mindset that focuses more on practicality rather than being too concerned with conserving traditions, leading to frequent disagreements with Farena and Kifaji when he's back home. 3. Being home also means being constantly reminded that he would never be king no matter how hard he has tried because Leona has already studied the entire NRC academic syllabus, prior to enrolling, from his tutors. That constant reminder in personification being Cheka, his nephew. I'm sure he doesn't actually hate the little furball but rather what he stands for.
Never apologize for a long comment! I love hearing ya'lls thoughts~ All your reasons are sound too. Leona on the whole has way more depth than I initially gave him credit for and he continues to surprise me now that I understand more of his character. He does tend to project quite a bit which I think reinforces his biases, making it harder for him to see the people who actually care about him despite his second born nature. It's unfortunate, but something he eventually has to reckon with I think if he's going to move forward. NRC is a way more comfortable environment, but that comfort is keeping him stuck :(
@ That’s very true. In one of his birthday vignettes where the interview question was “Who is one NRC student he would bring with him if he was stuck on a deserted island” And he said Kalim, because people would be scrambling to find Kalim immediately and by proxy, him. But he doesn’t see himself as someone valuable enough that people would notice his absence and start searching for him immediately even though he himself is a prince 🥹
@ He is moving forward though, the fact he put in enough effort into securing that internship in the mining company is proof that he’s starting to see a path forward rather than just wallowing in self-hatred.
@@Jessica-jz3ss True, true~ I just wonder if he took the internship out of genuine interest and wanting to contribute, or because he figured its be expected of him and what else is he going to do? He does remark at how it'll be easy since the folks there won't tattle on him if he doesn't give it his all, but it is still something that contributes to the Sunset Savannah he wants to see. It would be nice to see him be a bit more honest in that regard, at least imo. Or at least a bit more honest with us anyways.
@@sylvernoct Knowing him it’s probably both. Most things that he does always benefits himself in the long run but he’s not above helping others as part of that process and I think he’s aware of that cuz his EQ and social awareness are really high. And I would say he loves putting on airs so his true intentions are harder to read but he genuinely does want to help the Sunset Savanna.
I’m absolutely a Leona and Malleus simp so I’m 100% biased on who I think are the best housewardens 😂 As much as I love Vil, he and Rook are absolutely Epel’s school parents(with Leona and Ruggie getting weekends lol) I dare anyone to fight me on this. BUT I would HATE to have him as a housewarden. I’m very much like Epel, small town hick and proud of it. Plus I’ve been a tomboy for 20+ years so I would fight Vil tooth and nail if he tried to make me follow his beauty routines. I absolutely will NOT win in a fight but I would be able to get some scratches and bites in 😂
Fair is fair and all that no? Honestly I might have wanted to give it to a certain someone, but I got the same coin result 8 times in a row while trying and figured it was probably a sign ._.

I only managed to beat the second earth Titan battle in Idia’s book because of Vil’s curse ability
came here just for idia
im crying i thought it said housewife for a second
@@ejisani An honest mistake :)
True, that's a very fair point!
Sorry for the long essay but in the case of Leona, there are many reasons why he doesn't like going home and very likely caused himself to be held back on purpose is because:
I love hearing ya'lls thoughts~
All your reasons are sound too.
I absolutely will NOT win in a fight but I would be able to get some scratches and bites in 😂
I came at the speed of sound
Vil should have won😢
Just finished the video. Rigged!!! My mans was robbed
Fair is fair and all that no?
Honestly I might have wanted to give it to a certain someone, but I got the same coin result 8 times in a row while trying and figured it was probably a sign ._.
@@sylvernoct trying not to spoil the end of the video or anything buuutttt…
I’m convinced someone was using their all too powerful magic to get that coin to land just right. HE CANT LOSE.
Oh well, we love all our boys here.
Yes to this lest but also with the 2nd best man Vail
Havent seen the video but based in some bg info on the latest chapters in book 7 i thonk Riddle's got to be the best not my bias but iykyk
Well enjoy the ride~
The video only covers EN content but if you're talking about what I think you're talking about it certainly would have been a factor.
@sylvernoct :)
As much as I love Azul... yeah he only helps because of personal gain or his very rarely exposed soft side. 😅
Kalim. I don't care, I'll vote Kalim with my whole heart.
i love ur voice ❤️
Aw thank you~
I demand a recount...lol jk
