    👨🏽‍🦲ABOUT ME
    It's your man, Jeff Thornton, and I'm ready to take you on a journey through my life!
    I was born on Holloman Air Force Base, NM, and raised in the beautiful city of Alamogordo, NM.
    Growing up as the youngest of six kids, you'd think I'd have it easy, right?
    WRONG.
    My siblings were always keeping me on my toes, and I wouldn't have had it any other way.
    Family has always been my number one priority, and I owe that to my parents, Captain Robert and Dina Thornton, for instilling those values in me from a young age.
    Now, let's talk about my love for sports.
    From football to hockey, I've always been a natural athlete.
    I was even the “Team Captain” for my high school football team, which I'm still proud of to this day.
    But let's be real, sports are great and all, but nothing compares to the rush of being transported to a whole new world through video games.
    When I was three years old, my sisters and I decided to be helpful and clean our brothers' Nintendo console.
    Sounds like a good idea, right
    Well, we used WATER.
    Needless to say, we destroyed the whole thing.
    But that moment taught me something invaluable - gaming is more than just playing a game, it's about bonding with your loved ones over a shared experience.
    Video games have been a constant throughout my life, bringing my family together and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
    And that's why I'm still a gamer to this day.
    It's not just about playing a character in a digital world, it's about the relationships and the community that gaming creates.
    So, to all the gamers out there, let's embrace our inner nerd and never let go of that youthful spirit that makes us who we are.
    Thanks for tuning in, and much love to you!

    That South African is Cheslin Kolbe, early in his career he was told that he was too small to play international rugby, but then he proved everyone wrong, and now he revolutionized the South African winger position. Also, cousin to the South African Olympic 400m World Record holder, Wade van Niekerk.

      I wonder if it has become a coaching tactic at this point to tell small wingers with quick feet they are too small. Both Shane Williams and Kolbe have used it to propel their careers

    Bro, love your passion and appreciation for Rugby.. Couple of things that I wanna say. I love NFL. And what jumps out at me is your huge deal about the Quarter Back. One man that can throw/ pass the ball with any kinda skill. Rugby kinda has 2 QBs - No. 9 & No.10 or Scrum half (9) & Fly half (10). We also have the "offence" & "defence" on the pitch at the same time. The entire team have excellent ball handling skills. And great vision and and game IQ. Because only QBs only really throw or pass the ball, a bunch of the team can barely pick or scoop it up from the ground, never mind pass it. ALL rugby players, regardless to their position on the park, have an excellent set of skills and can all pass, scoop, receive and tackle to a great level. Would love to have a chat about comparing the games. Peace bro - Vinny West Yorkshire - UK

      @QSNgg  4 місяці тому +1

      Hey Vinny! Thanks so much for your incredible insight on Rugby and the big differences from American Football. You're absolutely spot on w/ everything you said.
      Where AF is more position specialized, I've been learning Rugby athlete are more well rounded in terms of adapting to the game as it unfolds. So being able to changes positions and make plays depending on the situations that appear
      Its been a lot of fun learning Rugby and getting a deeper understanding of the game. I love it!
      I appreciate you and for helping me understand Rugby more. I really appreciate you 🙌🏽

    • @georgesamuels3402
      @georgesamuels3402 4 місяці тому

      No worries bro. I love your appreciation for the game. Trust, I love AF, but trying to get my mates to invest time in understanding the skill and athleticism AF players require is hard work. Its an amazing game. We learn to hit, and be hit safely from day one. Hence no need for pads in Rugby. It really is a gentleman's game. Because we don't use pads or helmets, hitting and tackling is all calculated. Not just to protect yourself, but your opposition too. AF players have so much protection, I think its more stopping your opp and ending the play. Where as in rugby, the aim is to keep the ball live. That's why so see so many players taking a hit - pretty controlled as brutal as it my look, in hope to keep possession and off load it behind you. AF big hits look way more scary to me than a big hit from a rugby player. Don't get me wrong, this does't always go to plan. Hence the 1000s of "Rugby Big Hit" videos. But all in all, it is pretty safe. Having a super rigorous offside rule also helps. You can usually see the entire opp team in front of you. AF dudes get hit from some ridiculous angles. Tell me my man, do the helmets reduce your peripheral vision loads? The fact that offence tend to make their runs based on a script, or call from the coach, all that WR has in his head is to get from A to B. I think thats why they take some savage hits. Thatr said, rugby plays consist of fixed routes too, but because we play phases as opposed to plays, we can bail from a plan or route chosen, keep possession and try again. If that makes sense. It will be intersting to see how Zennit gets on. He's big, super fast, and has incredible vision and game IQ. Bro I watch a bunch of US dudes reacting to UK/World sport vids. I usually can't be arsed even trying to explain shit. You get rugby bro. You've got so much more discover and enjoy. Keep cool brother - Vinny @@QSNgg

    I’m a wales fan so i thought i would mention some of our players you could look at. I think Dan biggar would be interesting he’s a very skilful no. 10 with an incredible understanding of the game and I would also recommend Shane Williams who is just a rapid runner and an incredible player who also looks way to small for rugby. In terms of games to look at I would say England vs wales 2013 or England vs wales 2015 World Cup. All the best

    So for the questions you asked about teams, the first one you asked about with black and bright red was Fiji, The LRZ was a Wales away kit. Van de Merwe DID NOT retire if anyone got a heart attack like I did. Also if you are looking for some fast-paced rugby, I would advise either looking at the Portugal World Cup highlights or having a look at 7s. 7s is also coming to LA for a weekend. In rugby if you are not held and you have momentum you can slide however if you don't have momentum and you crawl forward you are penalised for "double movement".

    • @QSNgg
      @QSNgg  5 місяців тому +3

      I was thinking Stuart Hogg hahaha thanks so much for correcting me on that. I apologize for giving you a mini heart attack 🤣

      Yeah, you can't crawl, but you're allowed to reach out. Reaching out twice or trying to propel yourself forward would be a double movement.

    Love your reactions man. Two channels I would thoroughly recommend (and not because both are Welsh-based, like me!) - Andrew Forde for some brilliant compilations which include not just international footage but everything from schoolboys rugby to women’s, club, regional etc, he does an amazing job. And also ‘Squidge Rugby’ for some incredible analysis videos that even lifelong players and spectators like myself are consistently amazed by. Unfortunately Squidge had trouble using footage during the World Cup because of World Rugby’s copyrighting but his annual summary is very much worth watching. And he’s currently doing his usual assessments of 6 Nations matches every week which are fascinating.

    The South African winger is Cheslin Kolbe (CHEZ-Lin KOL-bee). Easily the most devastating wingers in terms of speed and evasiveness.
    On the flip side of the coin is the massive Scottish dude who also featured in that video, Duhan Van Der Merwe (MUR-va). Very quick in his own right but also strong and very difficult to bring to the floor. There’s no right or wrong size and weight for a winger. Both of those guys are world class for different reasons.
    Kolbe though has won two world cups with South Africa.
    Duhan hasn’t retired I don’t think. He played in the six nations this past weekend against Wales and scored two try’s.
    By the way if you can get highlights for that game then please look, that game was insane!
    That black and gold shirt you spotted for the Louis Reese-Zammit clip is actually the Wales change kit.
    The black and red at the beginning was the Fiji change kit.
    The light blue and white striped shirt was indeed Argentina.
    On the all blacks play on the ground at 9:45. He is perfectly entitled to do that. Once tackled you have to play the ball immediately, whether that’s popping it off the floor for a team mate, releasing it so your team can form a ruck, or as he did here reaching for the line. Whatever action you take has to be immediate. What the All Black player did was fine because it was his momentum that carried him over the line and his action to ground the ball was immediate.
    Nothing but love and respect for the videos and enthusiasm. At 4:35, it’s called a line out not a side out, that play was preventing a 50:22, meaning an attacking line out for the attacking team.
    Great video.

    Players 4 & 5 are called locks or "second rows". They're usually the tallest because they jump in lineouts. At international level, they're usually 6'5" to 6'10". There was a 7'1" player, but he retired early because of knee injuries. So, I guess there's a limit.

    There is a special invitational rugby team called the barbarians… It is an honour to be called up to play for them, here are a few of their highlights. The motto is “always attack”

      @@QSNgg I look forward to your reaction video… One thing you don't notice about the Barbarian is that they play in Different socks because they played in the colour of which ever club they are currently playing with. So you will see many different coloured socks on each of their players. My favourite thing about them is when you see players who have been invited to play for the barbarian playing against their former teammates in their national team. They always have a great bit of banter

    Can I ask, what made you get into rugby?

    • @QSNgg
      @QSNgg  4 місяці тому +1

      Sure! I got into rugby after my friend Josh Mun, who's based in Wales, suggested I explore LRZ's move to the NFL.
      As a lifelong football player, he thought I would have valuable input.
      Since Josh also helps with my video content, I was pondering the next steps for our QSN UA-cam channel.
      While transitioning from gaming to sports content, I found myself not knowing what content to make next. So Josh's recommendation helped push me in the direction of rugby
      Given my background in sports and performance, I found myself intrigued by the sport.
      Sharing my thoughts on LRZ's transition resonated well, prompting me to dive into rugby and learn everything about it.

    Teams have their own styles. The French team is known for executing long attacks with multiple passes. It is known in the rugby world as "the French flair". There are many to be mentioned so look up some highlights. They have had many notable backs and forwards. Up front they had guys like Sébastien Chabal(Caveman)and Serge Betsen(Grim Reaper), Abdel Benazzi. In back there were Serge Blanco, Vincent Clerc, Philippe Sella. A rather arbitrary list.
    You should also pay attention to kickers who are often decisive. Probably the best was Jonny Wilkinson of England. He dismayed opponents with his accuracy and could kick drops with either foot. There was Ronan O'Gara of Ireland. Today the best may be Thomas Ramos of France.

    Man let me tell you this idk if you know but that guy Cheslin Kolbe is probably the most annoying player to go up against cause he'll just make you look stupid swiping air trying to tackle him he'll step you and the blades of grass on the pitch 😂😂 and leave you for dead you need at least 3-4 tacklers because 1 on 1s almost never going to work
