      @@andrepereira744 Nirvana released at least 4 singles, many demos with Chad Channing; In Bloom even have had its original video in 1990. Not to mention Lithium, Polly was a well known Nirvana song before Nevermind came out, they were generally performing it in the "electric" version already in 1989. Stay away was called Come and Play, etc... Breed was originally called Imodium, I think that I have even heard Drain you version from 1990 performed by a drummer from the Melvins...Smells like Teen Spirit was originally recorded (but I suspect they were testing that song and Lithium already with Chad too, but Kurt was not "pleased" with his performance). So that means that 1/2 of the tabs for drums in the whole Nevermind album could have been already written by Chad and not Dave Grohl.

      Dave wrote SLTS,Came as you are,Territorial Pissings,Lounge Act,On a Plain,Something in the way and Endless Nameless.

    I love Chad.... I love that he hasn't aged, and still can play the drums just like he did back in the day. But I do wonder, if the people at this show could even hear his drums? I'm not going to lie, it does look like he's a light hitter, and in a small room like that one video on With The Lights Out (Nirvana rehearsal at Krist's mothers house), it probably sounded great there, but if even.... I completely notice and get what Kurts beef back then was about Chad not hitting the drums hard enough. Still, Krist, Dave and Pat should get Chad on board for doing reunion shows - make Dave do the guitar or something.

      I think he's intentionally playing it close to the way he used to. And good for him. With some of his fills though, he has evolved - imo, anyway.
      People came to see *him* play - they want to hear the songs the way he used to play them.
      So I know what you mean, but I agree that's it's cool. That's how it should be.

      @@dashwig he’s off time but tight? Whaaaaaa?

    • @dashwig
      @dashwig 3 роки тому +1

      @@nickfanzo Yep. You need to understand that playing tight does not necessarily imply being 100% on the click all the time. off-click is not autimatically sloppy or wonky. Being tight (same with so called "playing in the pocket" ) is something different, more of a feel.
      If you listen to albums that were recorded before the digital age/protool and all that stuff you'll notice that. Or albums that were made quick , with low budget (so was Nirvana's bleach, lots of other Punk stuff etc..).
      And of course in a lot of live situations: a band might be off the click, that's totally normal and human
      But they can still sound very tight as a unit without having that damn click in their in ears.
      The more precise a drummer can keep time by himself, the better of course. But it's no big news that being stuck to the click 100% creates a large amount of very boring, generic music.
