I have this same jacket bro. I'm 56 and feel it works well for us older guys. I love mine and it feels and looks only better with time.

Although I feel like schott to me is on the lower tier when getting into high quality jackets. Some people think 900$ is the most you should spend on a jacket but there’s a whole new world of quality leather and craftsmanship when going with brands like Thedi, rainbow country, field leathers and even aero leathers.
Thanks Ryan! Schott is the first high-end leather jacket I’ve ever purchased and it’s been great to wear. However, I have spent some time drooling over the jackets on the Aero website and hope to pick one up someday.

I've been looking at the 596 too so the timing of this review is crazy. I was debating between this or a racer like the 530 (I'm 31), but I think in the long run I'd appreciate the look and versatility of the sheepskin/regular collar. I'm also gonna need to order a medium and large to compare as well lol. Jacket looks good on you!
Thanks! I heard on Stridewise that it’s normal for a jacket to stretch to about a half size bigger over time. That really influenced my decision. Also, the large was just huge on me.
i think schott is pretty good value since its a premium leather jacket, when you compare schott to other premium leather brands they are actually pretty reasonable... its pricy in absolute terms but not in relative basis which should be the benchmark imo.
That’s true. Since Schott was the first premium leather jacket I bought, I experienced a little sticker shock.
I like the a2/ bomber leather jackets more bomber jacket, used to have a thrifted leather jacket years ago that was not schott but it made me love the a2 style but lost that long ago. This style doesn’t seem bad either seem to have mix a modern cafe racer look but look more retro with the collar which I dig. If I were in a budget or mood to get a new leather jacket I might get schott’s a2 or cockpit USA a2.

I’ll be 49 next month & YES, I want a leather jacket! I prefer jackets with an actual collar & really dig the modern fit flight style jackets, which are more for our age bracket. I’ve been eyeing the Legacy, Maverick & the Cognac color Driggs from Buffalo Jackson.
Cockpit has some great flight jackets too.

I struggle between the 596 and P673 then went with the P673 and didn't regret it. Heavyweight leather that age beautifully.

Great review! I’m strongly considering this jacket! Is it truly that great? And is it a more snug fit? I typically wear XL but wonder if I should do a large. Lastly does it have nice weight to it?
Thanks! It's a pretty great jacket. I wear it as often as I can because I'm looking forward to it conforming to my body. I'd say it's a snuggish fit on me. But, I was watching a Stridewise video, and he mentioned that Schott jackets tend to stretch out about half a size over time. I would definitely use their fit finder. It worked out for me. Yes, it has nice weight to it. I could probably take out my cat if I threw it hard enough at her. 😆
@@StrayReviews Lol. Ok! Fit finders never work for me and I feel like I should still go get measurements just in case. I tend to wear my leather jackets in summer and winter, but I like my jackets to have weight because I’m a bigger guy. Plus I typically like to layer (maybe a leather vest with a nice shirt) so I go for my average size. You should do a review on Coronado leather vest! I just messed myself all up and spent close to 2k on 5 vests lol 😂

I ordered one and it arrived today but I have to say it already scratches if you are only looking at it and I'm afraid it will look already beat up and 20 years old in no time. What are your thoughts on this, or is it just the style and intention of the look of this jacket?
Thanks! There's definitely a lot more variation in the color, especially at high touchpoints like the shoulder from my backpack. I guess it's supposed to develop a worn, vintage look more quickly. I suppose I could always apply a little Otter Wax if I want the color to deepen again. I just don't want to darken it too much.
Is the 596 a heavy jacket?
It's just over 5 pounds. Heavy enough to knock my cat over if I throw it at her. 😾

Thanks for this video and all the information content. Awesome jacket love the whiskey tone color "luggage" 596 Rancher looks unique love the West Rancher Trucker jacket style. I have a similar the Trucker/Rancher BUFFALO 🦬 leather jacket 545. Real similar is heavy and love the leather is so tough and rough. It's making me want to get the buffalo bison leather jackets from Schott the 463 DELIVERY JACKET and the 594 NAKED BUFFALO BOMBER JACKET. 🦬🐃 Love the bison/buffalo leather thickness. West Coast Rancher Trucker STYLE goes with my persona. Saludos amigo buen video.
I came very close to getting the delivery jacket instead of this one. I really wanted that extra inch and a half of length. If it came in brown, I probably would have landed on itt.
@@StrayReviews @StrayReviews saving money to get the P613S in Burgundy. That's my dream jacket. Is $1,315 but is going to the coffin ⚰️ and 🪦 graveyard with me. Felt in love with SCHOTT jackets. I guess it is the quality overall. After I get this one I will go for the 463 Delivery Jacket. The P613S is made from a collaboration of Horween Leather Tannery a Leather Chrome Excel product made by Schott a Motorcyclist Jacket . For my personal opinion is the best one out there for Motorcyclist
