It's a fair entry level level leather jacket. Keep in mind they have to price in free shipping and returns, etc. along with the cost to make the jacket.
This a good review. My goal it's to pick what i can afford at the time and try to keep it as pristine condition for 2-5 years. To my shock, the Thursday boot lasted nearly 10 years. Nothing in life its perfect. That's why we're all humans.
Hey, Lee! Appreciate the review. Given it's a different type of leather (sheep vs cow) and not waxed at all, I wish they didn't call it Arizona Adobe. Seems like an easy way to disappoint people who want the match to be spot-on. They could have easily called it something else. But yeah - looks GREAT on you. I wouldn't have changed the size. I'm sure you have other bigger jackets to layer... this one is in the sweet spot! Also, signed up for the newsletter. Thanks, brother!
Thanks Patrick! I think I just need to get it out of my head that a leather jacket is exclusively a winter jacket. I'm so used to layering up beneath my leather jackets.
@rockymtnstyle I just purchased the same jacket with the belief that it is the same cowhide leather as the boots. @@StrayReviews where did you find that it's lamb?
If you click the different colors on the webpage, the product features description will update showing you the type of leather used. I just purchased the same jacket in anejo, I haven’t worn it yet. After conditioning my captains I think they darkened a tad (Arizona adobe) and match the jacket color perfectly.
My favorite channel it's, real men real style. He talks about owning an leather boot. 8 years later it's still holding up great. Now I am interested in pony up $500 cad for a Thursday brand leather jacket.
Pendleton...I have a 25 plus year old black Pendleton Bomber jacket. It has been treated as needed with mink oil and other conditioners. I would not take it out in a downpour... have Patagonia for that!! But, the Pendleton can handle just about anything and stay almost perfect. It is broken in like a fine pair of leather boots.
Thanks for sharing your size and choice; it looks great! I'm 5', 11" 155# and I would think I'd be "Thin" and have a hard time with sizes, since I'm kinda between them. I've ordered so many online, only to re-sell them later because "M" is too big for me and "S" is great on the chest, but the sleeves are too short. I guess I have to try them on in person, but we don't have stores that sell this type of quality in my area. I am athletic, but like a swimmer, not a body builder.
Penny's used to sell good stuff when things were made in the USA. I think we have one of those here..lol. I'm in between Orlando and Tampa and there are nicer stores there like Neiman Marcus, Gucci, Burberry and such, but nothing that specializes in leathers that I know of (haven't been to a mall in years). Problem is, there are theme parks (Disney, Universal, Bush Gardens) that make going there a nightmare as far as traffic goes. You have to go in the middle of the day during the week, but there should be some good sales about now. We can only wear leather jackets about 1 month out of the year here (starting about now), so it would take 100 years to break one in. @@StrayReviews
Good video. I’m curious if you own a Schott or Vanson. A few other reviewers who were not paid by Thursday have trashed this jacket in the past few weeks.
I own a Schott. It’s an incredible jacket. But comparing a $349 Thursday to a $1,000 Schott isn’t an apples to apples comparison. For $349, the Thursday Racer really is a great jacket. And no one paid me to say that 😀.
@@albertmanuel5028 I wouldn't necessarily disagree if that was something easily in your price range but if this would be the most expensive jacket you own I think it's a fair deal. I own both a used Schott Perfecto and a new Thursday Roadster and the Schott feels much more substantial but I wear the Thursday more often due to the better fit(I could order one and return if it wasn't quite my size) and because it's just less worrying to be walking around with because even used and with a good discount the Schott was almost double the price of the Thursday.
I like the Cafe style racer jackets but feel they’re a bit young for my age bracket (very late 40s) and prefer something that will age with me, not against me. A modern cut flight style jacket for instance. I dig the Thursday Flight Jacket & Keanu, but not crazy about the lack of heft & the finishes seem cheap & almost painted on. Love their boots though. I have 2 pair of their western boots (Desperado in Arizona Adobe & Maverick in Anejo) & getting the President in Mocha Suede for Xmas.
It is on the expensive side for the materials. Definitely possible to get similar jackets for $200-$250. Should at least have cotton lining at that price level.
Hi Lee! Question for ya. Is this color in Arizona Adobe or Tobacco? Reason I ask is that the Arizona Adobe jacket does not come in the extra trim options like slim, athletic, and relaxed, while the Tobacco racer does.
Yes, this is Arizona Adobe. The only fit this one comes in is athletic. I was hoping to get one in relaxed but it wasn’t available. Maybe since it’s still a new color?
I recently bought the Thursday Keanu jacket in Old English leather and couldn’t be happier! I haven’t worn it in a heavy rain, but have during a brief shower with no issue. I’m 6’ even, 190#, with a 46” chest and ordered an XL. It only comes in athletic fit, and it fits like a glove. I have no problems wearing a long sleeve shirt and light sweater or heavy flannel underneath. Very pleased and impressed with all my Thursday Boot Co. purchases and feel that for the money their products can’t be beat! Great review, by the way!
@@kibiego My experience with this jacket has been only positive. Its construction is without flaw and the leather is supple, yet durable. I haven’t babied it and it has broken in nicely. In fact I’m impressed enough to give their new black bomber jacket a shot. Merry Christmas to me😂
Unfortunately, I can't wear any Thursday boots because they don't make a wide size for my wider feet. I ordered a pair of statesmen and they were so narrow and tight my feet would go numb. And, my feet aren't super wide. AE's size E fits fine. Also, the shoes had zero arch support built in and did not have a removable insert. So, maybe old guys with old wide feet should avoid Thursday boots. Too bad, I thought they looked cool and really wanted them to fit right.
Wow, that's definitely too tight. The latest iteration of their Captain Rugged and Resilient has a wider shape to them, but the arch support feels about the same.
Some of the boots have wide options but many don't it seems dependent on the boot and the color in question which is slightly annoying. That said I think even their "wide" size is quite a bit narrower than like Redwing's wide size.
