I can never have a favourite singer, people ask me all the time but I always can think of others I like as much...Floor is however one whom I will always choose to listen to! Unless she is doing Frozen, as the source music is nonredeemable 🤣
Moin from Northgermany. I have seen Metalica , Savatage, Maiden, Priest,Ozzy,Dio and many more. The were great. But since i was 2013 at the Holy Ground of Wacken, Nightwish blew me away. I saw them 4 times and it was allways Magic.
This concert is the gold standard for Nightwish. Keep in mind Floor was the lead singer of her own band at this point and was just a fill in for the singer that dipped out mid tour. She had worked with Nightwish for years but was only singing with them for 10 months at this point.
also, whilst she was the lead singer of ReVamp she hadn't performed for almost a year as the band was on hiatus due to Floor suffering burnout and not being physically able to sing! When she joined Nightwish I would imagine it would have been a huge leap of faith both for her and Nightwish as whilst she new the band and liked their music having to perform it is very different to singing along in the shower so to speak! By the time of this concert she new she was going to be a permanent member of the band and I think it shows in the performance.
true, I honestly forgot about the hiatus. I like to think this festival was the final tryout for her and she was not aware. Their smiles and band communication seems to have more meaning.

Excellent reaction. We must be forever grateful to Tarja as she was a pioneer in the symphonic metal genre. But for me, Floor has taken Nightwish on to a different level because of her vocal diversity. Thuomas has more scope to write songs with more rock elements but also knowing that Floor can take care of the operatic parts too. Looking forward to your next Nightwish reaction. When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on UA-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered UA-cam in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Greetings from Canada, where I saw them live in a small club venue in May 2022. They only did about 10 shows on the North American leg of their world tour. Glad you tried a live song with Floor. She is a wonderful person as well as an unparalleled singer. Enjoy your Nightwish journey. Since you watched Tarja sing the Phantom of the Opera with Marko, you should check out Floor singing the same song with Henk Porte( who was the Phantom for many years). They initially sang it on the TV show Beste Zangers, but later in 2023 with Nightwish at the Ziggo dome. There is an Official video on the Nightwish channel.
I was at the Amsterdam November 28th 2022 concert. The first time for me. Due Floor's Beste Zangers participation 2019 I first heared Floor Jansen's voice and was mesmerized by it. She told about the band Nightwish she was in so I went to YT and listened to Ghost Love Score. Since then I'm hooked and sold.
That's why I never listen to dutch radio. Try to find other channels. So many people miss out on so many great artists and music. Dutch radio plays mainstream stuff. If you like that that's fine...if not search the internet or Spotify. 😊

....SHE has a mystic vibe in HER voice....... On point !!!!!! Thats how a lot of people feel when they become the witness of the GODDESS singing.......... No matter what guard you have up, HER voice cuts through it like a hot sword through butter.....directly int your heart and soul ! How it is to see them live? or HER live (on HER solo-tour last year)? Well I can only say....watch your way home...no matter how good you know your way, no matter the navi is talking.....be sure you miss your way at least twice !!!!!!!
Hello there. Nightwish is better live. Floor Jansen is the Valkyrie goddess standing at 6"1" barefoot. You have just scratched the surface of her vocals. Stage presence is masterful. Nightwish's 10th album comes out this September. Unfortunately, they are not touring this album so it may be a couple of years.
@@stephanie4205 Storytime, Romanticide are nice songs to do after this. They have hundreds of songs and music pieces, and everyone will be your new favourite. Please avoid the big ones for now, Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest show on earth. They need research before you watch those masterpieces. Nightwish will give you beauty, pure trash metal, doom, folky and everything in between. Wacken, Wembley, Tampere and Buenos Aires are good live recordings. Can't go wrong with it. Floor can do it all, opera, pop, metal, rock...she's absolutely the best female singer of this time (watch her growls too haha) She is Dutch, proud Dutchie here. (btw, Dutch people are the tallest people on earth, she's not exceptional with her length here) Wacken, Hellfest , Graspop ec are huge metal festivals in Europe where we metalheads from all over Europe gather. This crowd was 83.000. Wacken now can have 100K visitors. Btw, the classical instruments are recorded by the London philharmonic orchestra) The fanbase in the US is not very big, but huge elsewhere. They do tour in the USA in smaller venues. They were the headliners at Wacken here, after Alice Cooper.
Yay! More Nightwish please! Best band on the planet and of course our Queen, Valkyrie Goddess of Metal, Floor Jansen. (Pr. Yansen-she is Dutch) Maybe "Storytime" from Wacken next. They just finished a big world tour last year, Floor went through breast cancer surgery, then pregnant through the world tour, and then they have been making a new album this year to be released in September. Their last album has some excellent Lyric Videos as well as there are live performances at several festivals from that album. Check out the song Tribal which is a compilation of some of those shows. 😊 The first single from their upcoming, new album was released a bit ago called "Perfume of the Timeless." They are not doing back to back tours on this one unfortunately, but there are tons of super live concert performances to see. Floor released a Solo album last year as well and will be touring it a bit but I dont know if it will be outside Europe. Her youtube channel is a great place to find amazing videos of original and awesome covers she did during lockdown to keep her voice in shape, as well as appearances on some Dutch and German singing TV shows.
Yep, I've seen them live, in 2021, in LA. Floor performed this song, in fact. It was overwhelming, honestly. That's the best word I can use to describe that concert. They aren't touring, for a while, for various reasons.
Absolutely normal that you are blown away. This is the best live performance in this part of the universe ever. Floor is not from this world. She was send from the Andromeda Galaxy to bring beauty and happiness to those wicked earthlings. And on that same spaceship the complete band of Nightwish came along to earth. They don't do bad songs. But you might try "the greatest show on earth" . Because that's excectly what it is. Or "the poet and the pendulum". First read the lyrics and do some background because they are not your "typical love songs". "Romanticide" for some heavier stuff. In fact that whole Wacken 2013 concert has to be experienced. But also a videoclip like "noise" is amazing. They are sooooo goooood. And Floor? There are a lot of excellent singers out there. But there is only one Floor Jansen. She plays in a league of her own.
Tuomas said in his last interview that after Marco left hè at first thought it would be the end of Nightwish but after a few days he got over the shock and focused on continuation. He went on to say that if Floor were to leave he would immediately pull the plug out of Nightwish.
Wacken Open Air is one of the oldest and largest metal festivals in the world, in Germany. It has 85,000 visitors, another 15,000 visit the village of Wacken. The festival site used to be a pasture and is now a hay meadow, which is why the logo is a bull's skull. It was shown in the video on the left. The concert has something of a rebirth about it. 10 months earlier, Nightwish had fallen out with their second singer Anette, two days before the next concert. Mastermind Tuomas says that the band was in survival mode at that point. Canceling was not an option, nor was continuing. Floor had already been booked as a replacement, but now had to arrive without preparation and learn 1.5 hours of setlist by heart. When this video was recorded, she was still officially the replacement. A permanent collaboration had already been agreed internally. The song was originally sung by Tarja, Floor changed the end shortly after her arrival. Singer/bassist Marko has unfortunately left the band after 20 years. But he gives us hope of a return. He is currently touring solo with his prog metal and with Tarja: MARKO HIETALA - Left On Mars (feat. Tarja Turunen) (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) Nightwish is releasing a new album in September, but unfortunately they will not be touring. The pandemic had messed up their plans. But they have also signed a new contract with their record label. Tuomas will probably write a new album in 2025. It would then be released in 2026 and in 2027 they would be touring worldwide again, including in the USA. Or they will do something completely different. I think they are not on that farm anymore. Maybe they still own it, but Floor mentioned recently that they have just moved. Their older daughter is reaching school age and that could have something to do with the move. The farm is in quite isolated location in the middle of woods and maybe they wanted to make it easier for her to socialize with other kids of her age. (Or could be many other reasons as well of course but that was first thing that came to my mind.)

@@Mischnikvideos About distances, yes I know, I live in Finland and I have lived in USA as well. Of course kids grow up in different kind of environments with no problem, I also grew up on a farm in small town and there were only 6 other kids of my age within 2 kilometers and that was quite enough. And Tuomas Holopainen if anyone really grew up in the middle forest and that came out, as we know, just perfect! But Floor grew up in city in the Netherlands which is very densely populated country, so while she loves nature, it is possible that when now forced to think about her daughter's childhood years, maybe she started to lean towards getting a bit more back to semi-urban area. But I also found out that the house on the farm was only 52 square meters (!) so probably also that could have been forcing them to re-think how they will fit now there with two daughters growing up. Anyways, I know where the farm is and found out now where they moved to. It was no neighborhood move. They moved 160 kilometers (100 miles away). New house is on semi-urban lot so I do not think the horses stayed on the farm. I think they must have been moved somewhere closer with some rental stable arrangement. Also possible that they actually never owned that farm, but were just renting it because a 56 year old guy has moved in there and he happens to be from manor located 1 mile down the road. So could be hinting that at the manor they had changed ownership to younger generation and the old master hence moved away to this smaller farm at corner of the manor lands. And due to this arrangement the manor simply did not want to extend the rental agreement. I think they lived there pretty exactly 10 years which would fit well typical such rental agreement length. Many places where this thought chain can of course go wrong but this is what comes to my mind.
I was soo lucky to see Nightwish at their 2021 tour in Toronto Canada. I am 68 and didn’t know about Nightwish till 2019. I was blown away by them. Thought I never would see them live. Due to Covid concert was restricted to 2500 people and was lucky to snag VIP tickets. Will not forget that evening

Tuomas (on keyboards), composer and writer of the lyrics of most Nightwish songs, loves movie soundtracks (especially from Hans Zimmer) and DIsney. You can hear this in a lot of the Nightwish songs. Tarja is a great singer, but Floor is much more versatile; she sings all from opera to death metal growls. After Tarja there had been Anette (2007 - 2012, more poppy); Floor joined Nightwish 2012 after Anette had become ill. In this concert she is still a "replacement" but became the official singer after this tour. You can see from the recordings of concerts with her that the boys had become much more relaxed and happy since Floor is the singer of Nightwish. They fit very well; in an interview 2015 Tuomas said about Floor "she is at home now" and Floor calls the male band members her brothers. They all love what they are doing on stage - and each other. By the way, on their last tour 2022/2023 they had also been to the USA and I am sure in future tours they also will return to your country. Their new album Yesterwynde will be released in September 2024; perhaps they will tour again 2025. There are many many people around the globe waiting for this.

I flew half way across the US to see them in Boston soon after bans were lifted from COVID . It was the best concert I've ever seen and I'm 51 with a lot of concerts under my belt lol. Well worth it , hopefully their break won't be long . Nightwish army Kansas City Missouri !
Yeah guys great reaction. Floor has no equal in female singers. You will be blown away by the amount of really good songs that Nightwish has. Nightwish does tour in the US but might only be in 2025/6 perhaps. We went and see them in June 2013 when Floor was 6 months pregnant in Gelsenkichen Germany. What a Devine experience

Whatever guard you have up, when Floor's voice comes in she cut's thru it like a fresh sharpened butcher knife and get's you right into your soul and while your bleeding out you feel satisfied. I'm not going to pick my favorite kid. At least in the context of Nightwish. Floor does however have a much more varied career so that comparison gets muddled. Floor also has the advantage of being able to sing the entire Nightwish catalog and so has been able to reinterpret the older stuff enough to keep it fresh but also keep it close enough so as to not alienate fans of the others.
My favorite singer in the whole wide world is Floor. Nightwish is not currently touring. Floor also has a solo career and she is doing some gigs this year. Unfortunately, they are all in the Netherlands (Floor is Dutch) and they are all sold out. You will find that your favorite Nightwish song is the next one you hear. Always do live shows. 😄🤘
Great reaction. A few tips that may or may not help: Fans are very polarized on who is the best Nightwish singer. People are certainly entitled to their opinions, but the reality is that all 3 lead singers have made significant contributions to the band and are part of its amazing history. Each provide a unique flavor to the band and all 3 are amazing. The band is from Finland, while Floor Jansen is Dutch. Troy Donockley, their multi-instrumentalist is British. In many languages/cultures (including Finnish and Dutch), the letter J is pronounced as a Y, so Tarja is pronounced Tar-ya and Jansen is pronounced Yan-sen. This concert is from Wacken (pronounced Vah-ken) Open Air 2013. This is billed as the largest metal concert in the world and takes place in the small village of Wacken, Germany. I am excited to see you continue your journey into this incredible band!
Some additional comments: Floor recently gave birth to her second child. And although NW has a new album out, they have decided to not tour on this release. This will likely be a 2 year break. So while they do tour in the US (small venues because the US music machine is oblivious to most music, especially if it originates outside the US/UK), it will be a while. "could you imagine being there?" - I have had the amazing fortune to see NW live (w/Floor). I have also seen Tarja on her solo tour. I generally don't set my expectations too high when seeing a band live, but my expectations for Nightwish were extremely high and they still managed to exceed them in every possible way. There is no way to adequately prepare!
124 Spider here...To be clear, I have followed Floor since After Forever, then Revamp and now Nightwih. But true Nightwish fans don't distinguish between the 3 singers that much. Ok, for me the best is Floor Jansen but I have to pay great respect to Tarja Tururen who launched the band into the spotlight and to Anette Olzon, whose albums were the ones that sold the most to date (At that time, many CDs were still being sold, Nowadays it's all Spotify or on a USB stick). For me, the 3 singers made history, the first (Tarja) made the band known, the second (Anette) didn't let the band die, and the third (Floor) took the band to another level. But today we wouldn't have Nightwish as we do if the first 2 singers hadn't made their contribution. ❤❤❤

Floor, the Valkyrie Queen, is without a doubt my favorite vocalist I have heard in my 60+ years listening to rock, hard rock, heavy metal....and as much as I love their first lead vocalist, Tarja, who has an amazing Operatic voice, I love Floor even more! Personally, I am still adding to my Nightwish CD collection...as I want to own every one of their albums! I also need to order Floors solo album, titled , "Paragon!" Floor wrote all the songs on her album, and it's fantastic! New subscriber!

You ain't heard nothin yet! 🙂 After being a fan since the late 90s, I finally got to see them live in 2018. By far, the best concert I've ever attended in 52 years of being a metalhead. Flawless performance! Surrealistic is the only word I can think of to describe that night. Those 2 hours felt like 30 minutes.
All three singers did some great songs in their own right. But, I think Floor is the greatest female singer alive today. The torch has been passed from Grace Slick to Ann Wilson to Floor Jansen.

What is my favorite Nightwish song: Whichever one I'm listening to at the momenI. Really. There is no "bad" Nightwish song. Their albums don't have "filler" songs. There are no "time to take bathroom break" songs at their concerts. As for favorite Nightwish singer, this can be a bit of a divisive topic among the NW Army, but my favorite is Floor. No contest. She is so versatile in her range and vocal style and so good regardless of which style she is singing, I get tingles when I hear her (these are known as a "Floorgasms" in the NW Army). This happens even for songs I have heard her sing hundreds of times. There is something about the timbre of her voice that just speaks to my soul. That ability alone would be more than enough to make her my favorite. Add the emotion she puts into each song and the connection that she creates between her, the music, and the fans. Now add her being one of the most grounded, down-to-earth, humble, kind, genuine, and all around good people you would ever meet. Now add her striking physical presence and beauty when fully made up for an on-stage performance, and her complete willingness to be seen with little to no make-up off stage. Now add that she is happily married to the drummer from the Swedish Metal band Sabaton and together they have two girls, one less than a year old. Now add that she is a burnout and cancer survivor. I know I'm fanboying here. I don't care. I just can't say enough good things about this woman. As for Nightwish concerts in the US, and Nightwish concerts in general, you are unfortunately late to the party. They announced a while back that they are taking a break from touring for an indeterminate amount of time. They _did_ do a North American leg of their "Human. :||: Nature." world tour back in 2022, and I had the privilege of seeing their show in Denver. I had to drive 7 hours 1 way from my home (at the time) in Utah and get a hotel for 1 night to make it work. All the time and money I put into seeing them was worth every penny, and then some. The show was in a relatively small indoor venue and they didn't have the fancy LED screen or pyro, just some stage lights and some smoke machines. It didn't matter. The band _was_ the show. They put just as much energy into that performance in front of hundreds that they put into massive outdoor festivals in front of tens of thousands. Luckily, we have the professionally recorded concerts available on DVD/Blu-ray. If you notice, this performance of "Ghost Love Score" was taken from the DVD "Showtime, Storytime", which is the official live album for the tour following their 2011 studio album "Imaginaerum". There are more. Most/all of the songs from those can be found on UA-cam, along with whole-concert videos.
Floor is my favourite female singer, probably my favourite singer at the moment, and has been since I first heard her. I saw them in 2022 in Wembley Arena, England, and they were phenomenal, with a great live sound, incredible musicianship (not showing off, all in service of the songs) and Floor’s immaculate live vocals. They are taking time off from touring, perhaps largely because the COVID lockdown interrupted their touring schedule. The tour for their last album was delayed by 2 years. They came straight off tour to record their next album which will be released in the autumn, but needed a break from touring so will not tour the new album. I would expect a possible world tour in 2026 as it will be their 30th anniversary.
My favorite song? Probably Elan. Is just a good emery energy with a positive message . They were here last year. I got the chance to see them in NYC, and it was amazing. Don't expect a tour anytime soon, though. They're taking off at least the next two years after the new album comes out in September, unfortunately
Nightwish is a fabulous band with a BIG history, Floor by herself has a BIG history also,if you dive into both,you will be busy till the end of this year.😆 Next to that,it will lead you to other bands/artist you probably never heard of like ,Ayreon , Epica,Avantasia,Wintersun,Sabaton and more,it's a dive ,you won't regret.😉🤘
I love Tarja, Anette, and Floor but my favorite will always be Floor. I feel their music at a level I never did before. I also love that she can sing anything in any style. It’s not just operatic or rock. It’s that plus everything in between. Floor + Nightwish 🤘🏻
I haven't scanned through the comments, but I'm sure this comment exists somewhere. Tarja, the bands first singer is pronounced "Tar-ee-uh." The reason for your tears is because Floor's voice touches your soul. This will not be the last time for you should you continue your Nightwish journey.
For me my favorite is Dead Boys Poem but I mean there are so many great songs by them. Cant believe that 6 years ago I didn't even know about them. Today they are right up there with Pink Floyd, Rush and Genesis, especially the Gabriel/Hackett era, as my favorite bands of all time.

Regarding the favorite NIGHTWISH singer and the favorite song by them, I take this seriously. :) I think all 3 singers had their merits and individual style, which would make it an ungrateful job just to say "Floor" and forget the previous ones. So, I went out of my way to pick a couple of songs (preferably Live) by each, that you might choose to check out down the road... TARJA: "Wishmaster" (of course!); "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion", "Sleeping Sun"; ANETTE: "Slow Love, Slow", "Scaretale", "Meadows of Heaven" (not sure if a good quality Live recording exists, but THIS must be her legacy!); FLOOR: basically pick blind, but personally - "She Is My Sin", "The Poet and the Pendulum" (must get to it, for many reasons), "Shoemaker" (of course!). Some comments to your comments...I have been several Nightwish concerts here and that gives a problem.Normal concerts have some high lights but whole concert of Nightwish is high light and after concert you just feel that have had great musical experience but brains refuse to pick up high lights from memory because brains keep whole concert like one great song. Happy to have UA-cam with concert records, to pass my brains opinion... Yes,here if Finland can be some cold days in winter but summer weather is the best, temperatures between +18 and +30 Celcius. Yes, I've been to Nightwish live concerts 4 or 5 times so far. A Nightwish shows are in my TOP 3 live music experiences!!! And I've been to a plenty of concerts and festivals. The remainning 2 spots in my Top 3 takes Tool and Heilung. Incredible bands that must be seen live by everyone. I mean it really is an experience!

I've seen Nightwish live with Floor & Anette and Tarja solo 3 times. Nightwish live with Floor blew me away. However, Tarja will always hold a special place in my heart with Century Child as my favourite album.
I experienced Nightwish live for the first time in the US in 2022. Life changing. Marko sing background and many lead parts on several songs. They are magical together. No tours currently. However there is a new record coming in September and hopefully they will tour in 2026. They are taking a short break from touring. Floor just gave birth a couple months ago to her 2nd daughter. They will come again and I will be there. So much more live Nightwish to experience. They are truly the best live band on the planet. Floor is so rare and special as a live vocalist. This concert is the gold standard for Nightwish. Keep in mind Floor was the lead singer of her own band at this point and was just a fill in for the singer that dipped out mid tour. She had worked with Nightwish for years but was only singing with them for 10 months at this point.
WOW! It looks like they kept her for life. I see she's been with the band since 2013.
also, whilst she was the lead singer of ReVamp she hadn't performed for almost a year as the band was on hiatus due to Floor suffering burnout and not being physically able to sing! When she joined Nightwish I would imagine it would have been a huge leap of faith both for her and Nightwish as whilst she new the band and liked their music having to perform it is very different to singing along in the shower so to speak! By the time of this concert she new she was going to be a permanent member of the band and I think it shows in the performance.
true, I honestly forgot about the hiatus. I like to think this festival was the final tryout for her and she was not aware. Their smiles and band communication seems to have more meaning.

We must be forever grateful to Tarja as she was a pioneer in the symphonic metal genre. But for me, Floor has taken Nightwish on to a different level because of her vocal diversity. Thuomas has more scope to write songs with more rock elements but also knowing that Floor can take care of the operatic parts too.

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’.
Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera).
'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’.
Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’
Floor joined Nightwish after this iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see.
Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on UA-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered UA-cam in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish.
Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turned 7 years last march) and Lucy (born last october) ,a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.

Since you watched Tarja sing the Phantom of the Opera with Marko, you should check out Floor singing the same song with Henk Porte( who was the Phantom for many years). They initially sang it on the TV show Beste Zangers, but later in 2023 with Nightwish at the Ziggo dome. There is an Official video on the Nightwish channel.

I was at the Amsterdam November 28th 2022 concert. The first time for me. Due Floor's Beste Zangers participation 2019 I first heared Floor Jansen's voice and was mesmerized by it. She told about the band Nightwish she was in so I went to YT and listened to Ghost Love Score.

Hello there. Nightwish is better live. Floor Jansen is the Valkyrie goddess standing at 6"1" barefoot. You have just scratched the surface of her vocals. Stage presence is masterful. Nightwish's 10th album comes out this September. Unfortunately, they are not touring this album so it may be a couple of years.

Please avoid the big ones for now, Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest show on earth. They need research before you watch those masterpieces. Nightwish will give you beauty, pure trash metal, doom, folky and everything in between. Wacken, Wembley, Tampere and Buenos Aires are good live recordings. Can't go wrong with it.
Floor can do it all, opera, pop, metal, rock...she's absolutely the best female singer of this time (watch her growls too haha) She is Dutch, proud Dutchie here. (btw, Dutch people are the tallest people on earth, she's not exceptional with her length here)
Wacken, Hellfest , Graspop ec are huge metal festivals in Europe where we metalheads from all over Europe gather. This crowd was 83.000. Wacken now can have 100K visitors.

The fanbase in the US is not very big, but huge elsewhere. They do tour in the USA in smaller venues. They were the headliners at Wacken here, after Alice Cooper.

They just finished a big world tour last year, Floor went through breast cancer surgery, then pregnant through the world tour, and then they have been making a new album this year to be released in September.
Their last album has some excellent Lyric Videos as well as there are live performances at several festivals from that album. Check out the song Tribal which is a compilation of some of those shows. 😊
The first single from their upcoming, new album was released a bit ago called "Perfume of the Timeless."
They are not doing back to back tours on this one unfortunately, but there are tons of super live concert performances to see.
Floor released a Solo album last year as well and will be touring it a bit but I dont know if it will be outside Europe.
Her youtube channel is a great place to find amazing videos of original and awesome covers she did during lockdown to keep her voice in shape, as well as appearances on some Dutch and German singing TV shows.
Yep, I've seen them live, in 2021, in LA. Floor performed this song, in fact. It was overwhelming, honestly. That's the best word I can use to describe that concert. They aren't touring, for a while, for various reasons.

Absolutely normal that you are blown away. This is the best live performance in this part of the universe ever. Floor is not from this world. She was send from the Andromeda Galaxy to bring beauty and happiness to those wicked earthlings. And on that same spaceship the complete band of Nightwish came along to earth. They don't do bad songs. But you might try "the greatest show on earth" . Because that's excectly what it is. Or "the poet and the pendulum". First read the lyrics and do some background because they are not your "typical love songs". "Romanticide" for some heavier stuff. In fact that whole Wacken 2013 concert has to be experienced. But also a videoclip like "noise" is amazing. They are sooooo goooood. And Floor? There are a lot of excellent singers out there. But there is only one Floor Jansen. She plays in a league of her own.

Can't believe it's been so long since Tarja left. Time is flying - I still remember being a teen crying over the open letter.
Tuomas said in his last interview that after Marco left hè at first thought it would be the end of Nightwish but after a few days he got over the shock and focused on continuation. He went on to say that if Floor were to leave he would immediately pull the plug out of Nightwish.

Wacken Open Air is one of the oldest and largest metal festivals in the world, in Germany. It has 85,000 visitors, another 15,000 visit the village of Wacken. The festival site used to be a pasture and is now a hay meadow, which is why the logo is a bull's skull. It was shown in the video on the left.
The concert has something of a rebirth about it. 10 months earlier, Nightwish had fallen out with their second singer Anette, two days before the next concert. Mastermind Tuomas says that the band was in survival mode at that point. Canceling was not an option, nor was continuing. Floor had already been booked as a replacement, but now had to arrive without preparation and learn 1.5 hours of setlist by heart. When this video was recorded, she was still officially the replacement. A permanent collaboration had already been agreed internally. The song was originally sung by Tarja, Floor changed the end shortly after her arrival.
Singer/bassist Marko has unfortunately left the band after 20 years. But he gives us hope of a return. He is currently touring solo with his prog metal and with Tarja:

Nightwish is releasing a new album in September, but unfortunately they will not be touring. The pandemic had messed up their plans. But they have also signed a new contract with their record label. Tuomas will probably write a new album in 2025. It would then be released in 2026 and in 2027 they would be touring worldwide again, including in the USA. I think they are not on that farm anymore. Maybe they still own it, but Floor mentioned recently that they have just moved. Their older daughter is reaching school age and that could have something to do with the move. The farm is in quite isolated location in the middle of woods and maybe they wanted to make it easier for her to socialize with other kids of her age. (Or could be many other reasons as well of course but that was first thing that came to my mind.)

Of course kids grow up in different kind of environments with no problem, I also grew up on a farm in small town and there were only 6 other kids of my age within 2 kilometers and that was quite enough. And Tuomas Holopainen if anyone really grew up in the middle forest and that came out, as we know, just perfect! But Floor grew up in city in the Netherlands which is very densely populated country, so while she loves nature, it is possible that when now forced to think about her daughter's childhood years, maybe she started to lean towards getting a bit more back to semi-urban area. But I also found out that the house on the farm was only 52 square meters (!) so probably also that could have been forcing them to re-think how they will fit now there with two daughters growing up.
Anyways, I know where the farm is and found out now where they moved to. It was no neighborhood move. They moved 160 kilometers (100 miles away). New house is on semi-urban lot so I do not think the horses stayed on the farm. I think they must have been moved somewhere closer with some rental stable arrangement.
Also possible that they actually never owned that farm, but were just renting it because a 56 year old guy has moved in there and he happens to be from manor located 1 mile down the road. So could be hinting that at the manor they had changed ownership to younger generation and the old master hence moved away to this smaller farm at corner of the manor lands. And due to this arrangement the manor simply did not want to extend the rental agreement. I think they lived there pretty exactly 10 years which would fit well typical such rental agreement length. Many places where this thought chain can of course go wrong but this is what comes to my mind.

I was soo lucky to see Nightwish at their 2021 tour in Toronto Canada. I am 68 and didn’t know about Nightwish till 2019. I was blown away by them. Thought I never would see them live. Due to Covid concert was restricted to 2500 people and was lucky to snag VIP tickets. Will not forget that evening

Tuomas (on keyboards), composer and writer of the lyrics of most Nightwish songs, loves movie soundtracks (especially from Hans Zimmer) and DIsney. You can hear this in a lot of the Nightwish songs. Tarja is a great singer, but Floor is much more versatile; she sings all from opera to death metal growls. After Tarja there had been Anette (2007 - 2012, more poppy); Floor joined Nightwish 2012 after Anette had become ill. In this concert she is still a "replacement" but became the official singer after this tour. You can see from the recordings of concerts with her that the boys had become much more relaxed and happy since Floor is the singer of Nightwish. They fit very well; in an interview 2015 Tuomas said about Floor "she is at home now" and Floor calls the male band members her brothers. They all love what they are doing on stage - and each other. By the way, on their last tour 2022/2023 they had also been to the USA and I am sure in future tours they also will return to your country. Their new album Yesterwynde will be released in September 2024; perhaps they will tour again 2025. There are many many people around the globe waiting for this.

Yeah guys great reaction. Floor has no equal in female singers. You will be blown away by the amount of really good songs that Nightwish has. Nightwish does tour in the US but might only be in 2025/6 perhaps. We went and see them in June 2013 when Floor was 6 months pregnant in Gelsenkichen Germany. What a Devine experience
I did see them many times live and they are even better live. My favourite singer of Nightwish is absolutely Floor Jansen. She is the most versatile (from opera to growls) and metal lady.

Tarya Turunen, Floor Yansen. It's not cold in Finland, except a little in winter. Summers are warm and beautiful.
I'm not going to pick my favorite kid. At least in the context of Nightwish. Floor does however have a much more varied career so that comparison gets muddled. Floor also has the advantage of being able to sing the entire Nightwish catalog and so has been able to reinterpret the older stuff enough to keep it fresh but also keep it close enough so as to not alienate fans of the others.
My favorite singer in the whole wide world is Floor. Nightwish is not currently touring. Floor also has a solo career and she is doing some gigs this year. Unfortunately, they are all in the Netherlands (Floor is Dutch) and they are all sold out. You will find that your favorite Nightwish song is the next one you hear. Always do live shows. 😄🤘

Fans are very polarized on who is the best Nightwish singer. People are certainly entitled to their opinions, but the reality is that all 3 lead singers have made significant contributions to the band and are part of its amazing history. Each provide a unique flavor to the band and all 3 are amazing.
The band is from Finland, while Floor Jansen is Dutch. Troy Donockley, their multi-instrumentalist is British.
In many languages/cultures (including Finnish and Dutch), the letter J is pronounced as a Y, so Tarja is pronounced Tar-ya and Jansen is pronounced Yan-sen.
This concert is from Wacken (pronounced Vah-ken) Open Air 2013. This is billed as the largest metal concert in the world and takes place in the small village of Wacken, Germany.

Floor recently gave birth to her second child. And although NW has a new album out, they have decided to not tour on this release. This will likely be a 2 year break. So while they do tour in the US (small venues because the US music machine is oblivious to most music, especially if it originates outside the US/UK), it will be a while.
"could you imagine being there?" - I have had the amazing fortune to see NW live (w/Floor). I have also seen Tarja on her solo tour. I generally don't set my expectations too high when seeing a band live, but my expectations for Nightwish were extremely high and they still managed to exceed them in every possible way. There is no way to adequately prepare!

124 Spider here...To be clear, I have followed Floor since After Forever, then Revamp and now Nightwih. But true Nightwish fans don't distinguish between the 3 singers that much. Ok, for me the best is Floor Jansen but I have to pay great respect to Tarja Tururen who launched the band into the spotlight and to Anette Olzon, whose albums were the ones that sold the most to date (At that time, many CDs were still being sold, Nowadays it's all Spotify or on a USB stick). For me, the 3 singers made history, the first (Tarja) made the band known, the second (Anette) didn't let the band die, and the third (Floor) took the band to another level. But today we wouldn't have Nightwish as we do if the first 2 singers hadn't made their contribution. ❤❤❤

Yes, the song was a well established classic in Nightwish's songbook. But this is one of the first times it was performed in this format. After Thuomas and Floor reworked the lyrics, just 'tweeked the lyrics a bit..'

Floor, the Valkyrie Queen, is without a doubt my favorite vocalist I have heard in my 60+ years listening to rock, hard rock, heavy metal....and as much as I love their first lead vocalist, Tarja, who has an amazing Operatic voice, I love Floor even more!
Personally, I am still adding to my Nightwish CD collection...as I want to own every one of their albums! I also need to order Floors solo album, titled , "Paragon!" Floor wrote all the songs on her album, and it's fantastic!

Flawless performance! Surrealistic is the only word I can think of to describe that night. Those 2 hours felt like 30 minutes.

What is my favorite Nightwish song: Whichever one I'm listening to at the momenI. Really. There is no "bad" Nightwish song. Their albums don't have "filler" songs. There are no "time to take bathroom break" songs at their concerts.
As for favorite Nightwish singer, this can be a bit of a divisive topic among the NW Army, but my favorite is Floor. No contest. She is so versatile in her range and vocal style and so good regardless of which style she is singing, I get tingles when I hear her (these are known as a "Floorgasms" in the NW Army). This happens even for songs I have heard her sing hundreds of times. There is something about the timbre of her voice that just speaks to my soul. That ability alone would be more than enough to make her my favorite. Add the emotion she puts into each song and the connection that she creates between her, the music, and the fans. Now add her being one of the most grounded, down-to-earth, humble, kind, genuine, and all around good people you would ever meet. Now add her striking physical presence and beauty when fully made up for an on-stage performance, and her complete willingness to be seen with little to no make-up off stage. Now add that she is happily married to the drummer from the Swedish Metal band Sabaton and together they have two girls, one less than a year old. Now add that she is a burnout and cancer survivor. I know I'm fanboying here. I don't care. I just can't say enough good things about this woman.
As for Nightwish concerts in the US, and Nightwish concerts in general, you are unfortunately late to the party. They announced a while back that they are taking a break from touring for an indeterminate amount of time. They _did_ do a North American leg of their "Human. :||: Nature." world tour back in 2022, and I had the privilege of seeing their show in Denver. I had to drive 7 hours 1 way from my home (at the time) in Utah and get a hotel for 1 night to make it work. All the time and money I put into seeing them was worth every penny, and then some. The show was in a relatively small indoor venue and they didn't have the fancy LED screen or pyro, just some stage lights and some smoke machines. It didn't matter. The band _was_ the show. They put just as much energy into that performance in front of hundreds that they put into massive outdoor festivals in front of tens of thousands. Luckily, we have the professionally recorded concerts available on DVD/Blu-ray. If you notice, this performance of "Ghost Love Score" was taken from the DVD "Showtime, Storytime", which is the official live album for the tour following their 2011 studio album "Imaginaerum". There are more. Most/all of the songs from those can be found on UA-cam, along with whole-concert videos.
I've visited Finland in August. It was quite hot (by British standards).

Floor is my favourite female singer, probably my favourite singer at the moment, and has been since I first heard her. I saw them in 2022 in Wembley Arena, England, and they were phenomenal, with a great live sound, incredible musicianship (not showing off, all in service of the songs) and Floor’s immaculate live vocals.
They are taking time off from touring, perhaps largely because the COVID lockdown interrupted their touring schedule. The tour for their last album was delayed by 2 years. They came straight off tour to record their next album which will be released in the autumn, but needed a break from touring so will not tour the new album. I would expect a possible world tour in 2026 as it will be their 30th anniversary.

My favorite song? Probably Elan. Is just a good emery energy with a positive message . They were here last year. I got the chance to see them in NYC, and it was amazing. Don't expect a tour anytime soon, though. They're taking off at least the next two years after the new album comes out in September, unfortunately

I think all 3 singers had their merits and individual style, which would make it an ungrateful job just to say "Floor" and forget the previous ones. So, I went out of my way to pick a couple of songs (preferably Live) by each, that you might choose to check out down the road...
TARJA: "Wishmaster" (of course!); "The Pharaoh Sails to Orion", "Sleeping Sun";
ANETTE: "Slow Love, Slow", "Scaretale", "Meadows of Heaven" (not sure if a good quality Live recording exists, but THIS must be her legacy!);
FLOOR: basically pick blind, but personally - "She Is My Sin", "The Poet and the Pendulum" (must get to it, for many reasons), "Shoemaker" (of course!).

Some comments to your comments...I have been several Nightwish concerts here and that gives a problem.Normal concerts have some high lights but whole concert of Nightwish is high light and after concert you just feel that have had great musical experience but brains refuse to pick up high lights from memory because brains keep whole concert like one great song. Yes, I've been to Nightwish live concerts 4 or 5 times so far. A Nightwish shows are in my TOP 3 live music experiences!!! And I've been to a plenty of concerts and festivals.
The remainning 2 spots in my Top 3 takes Tool and Heilung. Incredible bands that must be seen live by everyone. I mean it really is an experience!

I've seen Nightwish live with Floor & Anette and Tarja solo 3 times. Nightwish live with Floor blew me away. However, Tarja will always hold a special place in my heart with Century Child as my favourite album.
I experienced Nightwish live for the first time in the US in 2022. Life changing. Marko sing background and many lead parts on several songs. They are magical together. No tours currently. However there is a new record coming in September and hopefully they will tour in 2026. They are taking a short break from touring. Floor just gave birth a couple months ago to her 2nd daughter. They will come again and I will be there. So much more live Nightwish to experience. They are truly the best live band on the planet. Floor is so rare and special as a live vocalist. She has operatic and musical theater training, as well as many years of live performing.
