sweet video bro, we went to cold lake the other day but we got skunked, too late when i watched your video today for some tip, we will try again next time using your technique! fish on brother
You’re stacking them up looks good. I’ve done lots of downrigging for salmon but tomorrow will only be day two of my lake trout efforts. Got a couple today but nothing legal size yet.
Lake trout is just the fresh water version of salmon without traveling to the west coast for me. Keep at it and you’ll get a few good ones! Best of luck👊
Usually for spoons im looking at about 2mph give or take .5 Sometimes the .5 difference can make or break a day dont be afraid to slow down or speed up if your not getting bites and going over fish!
That’s one thing i’m constantly changing much like my lead length. But i’m almost always between 2-3mph when trolling spoons. A little slower of trolling bait rigs More then likely i’m sitting at the 2-2.3mph mark most often for spoons like in this video
Hey great video thanks for the info We are probably trying this lake next month can you give me a little info on depths in July do they go deeper Do you usually troll in like under 100 ft , any info would be great we got down riggers as well thank you
they will probably be a touch deeper but I would just watch your sonar and let them tell you where they are. ya usually we troll anywhere from 60-120ft in july. occasionally we will troll out deep in 120-200ft for suspended fish down 40-70ft
@@weaversbentrods I do have problems with mine but check them often for deterioration and change them as needed. When fishing cold lake I like to bounce bottom and find that will provoke strikes when fish are lazy. The snubbers help this.
depending on the size of fish in your lake I usually start at 20lb minimum and as high as 80lb depending on the situations and techniques. You could get away with 15 tho but it’s defiantly on the lighter side of things
I’m from sask. And going to bakers narrows Manitoba. For may long weekend. For spring lake trout. Thank you very much for the reply. I will go and buy. And put on. 25 pound fluorocarbon leader. Thanks 🇨🇦
@@hyenamanlionkiller608 I like to use braid on my jigging rods with a flouro leader. I stick tried mono on my rigger rods this last season and was pretty happy with it as there was a little stretch with the violent strikes that happen trolling
Cool video and great info! The lake I fish for these in is very small with the average fish being 3-8lbs, do you recommend going with one of the smaller size king spoons for these? Thanks!
Really just depends on various scenarios for me. Generally I prefer jigging but trolling allows me to cover more water while looking for that special area to jig
What a totally beauty this guy is!!!!!! Lake trout whisperer Lol
A guys gets a lucky day every once in awhile 😂

Great video, thanks for sharing the details of your technique.
No worries! Sometimes trolling is a great way to cover some water!
You are living my dream. Awesome video.
Just trying to get out there and fish when I can!
Awesome video man, keep up the good fishing!
Thanks Ben! Can’t wait to get back on the water again!
Definitely convinced me to get a downrigger.
Some days its worth it if you want to cover some ground!
That 32 incher was a beauty . We're you fishing Frenchman Bay , that shoreline looked familiar .
Thanks Andy! Nope we weren't in french bay but I do spend a fair amount of time over there.
Great video! Thank you
What’s your typical trolling speed?
Usually for spoons im looking at about 2mph give or take .5 Sometimes the .5 difference can make or break a day dont be afraid to slow down or speed up if your not getting bites and going over fish!
What size spoons are you using?
northern king mag spoons are 4.5” and 5/8oz

Whats your go to speed for trolling Lakers?

@@jasonwidmark847 your welcome! Tight lines!
I notice you do not use a snubber. Are you using a braided line?
Steel on my riggers. When I bought them years ago they told me not to use them but i’m considering giving them a try one of these days!

@@davidcorcoran7634 maybe one day I'll give it a try then!
What rod are you using?? Lenght, power?
that is the cabalas depth master 8'6" trolling rod I believe, in a medium moderate
Ever fish lakers from shore ?
No I haven't i'm always put in the boat. I do know of people that do especially early in the season when the water temps are still cool.
I’m going lake trout fishing. I have 15 pound fluorocarbon on my reel. Is that strong enough for lake trout?

Never gets old seeing that bite! Thanks dude tight lines.

I would say let the fish tell you what they want try both and see what works the best! I’ve had many smaller fish like bigger presentations before

@@ShaDowF50 no worries good luck!
Can you put the spoon lure link
You bet I added a link in the description right to Northern King's Page
Great videos! I’m new to Mac fishing, just wondering how you decide wether to jig or troll?
Really just depends on various scenarios for me. Generally I prefer jigging but trolling allows me to cover more water while looking for that special area to jig
Great videos buddy ,you ever try fishing lakers from shore and what would you recommend? Thanks
Awsome ! where is cold lake ?

Thanks dude can’t wait to do it again next year!
