Just did blood tests two weeks after starting carnivore, it just happened like that. I get bloodwork done every few months for over a year now because of very high inflammation, which my doctor couldn't explain. I also had a huge rash on my hands for over a year as well, which had started spreading on my arms and legs the last couple of months. We tried steroid cream, didn't work. We tried antibiotics, it made it worse! Two weeks on carnivore and it's GONE. It was so painful too. Not only that, but my bloodwork came back normal with no inflammation for the first time!! I was so scared to have a heart attack or something, especially that I had been having chest pain often the last two months. There is no going back now!!

People who have chronic inflammation and mysterious rashes and other conditions that clear up with the keto and especially carnivorous diet… that tells me that something is in the food supply now that is causing those problems depending on what they’re eating specifically and their specific bodies. The fact that the problems clear up with a very restrictive array of foods tells me that most processed foods and also produce contains something that is causing inflammation and illnesses.

Since 2012 I have done 8 marathon. 7 of them "on carbs". The last one on "KETO". I was nervous....will this work??? I decided to eat very minor the evening before the race. In the morning, 4 hours before start, I consumed a cup of hot water with 2 oz of coconut cream. So, I was basically fasting at start of the race. My prepration before the race was below avarage so I expected my finish time to be that as well. Rather than 4 hours I expected up to 4.30, still OK. I consumed only water. No energy drinks. During the race I never ran out of energy. I kept a steady pace, listening to my body. Sometimes I took a short walk in between. Quite laid-back...... Yes, of course, the last hour was tough, I had to struggle. But, here is one of my points that I recognize from this video. I never hit the wall. A short walk and energy was back - Keep on running!!! My muscles never cramped. I recovered clearly quicker after the race. My stomach never said one word, no heavy or empty feeling, like it was not there at all. (Heavy feeling in the stomach is limiting performance heavily). Clearly, my doubts were gone, I was even more convinced that low carb is the way to go. There is a lot more to say. However, after two years on Low carb, I have never felt better!!!!!
I’ve been low carb for 4 years now. There has been a couple times when I read something or watched a video that convinced me I should add some carbs back in. So I would go buy potatoes or bread and add it to my meals. Right after I eat though I feel like my energy has been sucked out of me and I want to take a nap. I just can’t handle carbs at all I guess.

@Dr Cywes, this is an excellent discussion I love it. I want to know though, can you explain how is it that I, with a very stable blood sugar around 80 to 90 on a daily basis (although by seeing my body’s inability to use all of the fat on my body and my fasting insulin level of 10, still insulin resistant), do not become mentally fatigued almost ever, but easily physically fatigued. Yet, my husband with a very probable LADA who is very thin and runs sugars (somewhat stable) in the 130 - 160 range after 4 years of strict ketovore, becomes very mentally fatigued and foggy brained, yet almost never physically fatigued?? It just doesn’t make sense to me if we’re saying that the brain shuts down with low blood sugars?? My sugars get into the 60s sometimes and I’m still mentally just fine, while hubby has never seen a score under 100 in a more than a decade, and becomes confused at times, specially as it pertains to short term memory and mental sharpness. It’s better now of course, than 4 years ago before keto, but it’s not resolved. Any thoughts? I’m trying to wrap my head around the theory. Since he has low insulin and high sugars, why does he become mentally fatigued? Physically he can go for hours and hours.
Fascinating My BS is high but I eat very close to only chuck roast with very little vegetables (no carbs or sugar). I can’t believe how I can work for multiple 24 hour days straight. When serious problems occur in IT especially with employers that don’t understand the issue, I literally have to stay up working the problem until resolved. I am clearly overweight and type 2 diabetic but I can work beyond any reasonable amount of time.
my elderly dad refused to partake in "senior activities" because he didnt want to listen to the endless "organ recitals"! 😁 He remained alert, functional, and independent (except for driving) at 95 until 2 days before he passed from kidney failure.
My glucose level is perfect even right after eating big lunch. I don’t have diabetes and my doc says I don’t have insulin resistance. Yet my brain is totally fogged and my fatigue is overwhelming. I’m thinking it could be the lingering pathogen. Whatever it is, I want it gone.😢.

Ready to eat are raw vegs and cheeses. Nothing wrong with cream cheese and celery, (or sugar free peanutbutter with celery or cheddar and apple). Cottage cheese is versatile - a dab of sf jam and sunflower seeds, or ranch dressing withchopped tomato. Nuts are nice for snacks, but stay moderate in portions or use as "dessert". Scrambled or hard boiled eggs are easy and nutritious. Canned tuna mixed with SF relish and non-soy/GMO mayo - or egg salad - or get a rotisserie chicken and make chicken salad with the leftovers. I think wr may often be looking for something "easy" because we are tired, bored, lonely rather than hungry... so go watch more of Dr C's teaching about catb addiction. God bless ❤️🙏❤️
A very healthy and nutritionally dense canned food is sardines. With bones and skin if you can find. If packed in water, add healthy animal fat such as bacon grease or butter or mayo made out of avocado oil.
It's very likely that we can be deficient in either fat or protein. Our body definitely needs muscle but we also need fat stores. Our bodies needs are almost certainly dynamic. Changing with any number of situations. Is it possible that certain carbs could be the best way to gain weight for a lean Winter. There are many people who can be very fat and still just as healthy as anyone else.
If we are truly the hyper - carnivores that anthropologists are telling us we were until the dawn of agriculture, then we did not need to fatten up for the winter. In fact, to a carnivore, killing prey is likely easier in the winter because of the nutritional weakness of the prey in the winter and the greater density of prey due to shrinking plant habitat.
@@davidgmillsatty1900 That may be true for some animals I don't know. For humans there may have been a time when hunting and fattening up in the snow and ice could have sometimes be problematic. But that fattening up for Winter comment was just speculation anyway. Today we certainly don't need to fatten up for the Winter. Maybe we're fattening up for that big asteroid.
hunger is the best sauce. offer healthy food choices, ignore their tantrums if you have already got them addicted to junk. PS I don't recommend using carby dessert as the reward for a clean plate as that keeps the high value on the sugar.
yes, somewhat - many people switch to ketones after the overnight fast. I think I remember Dr C saying about 12 hrs. If you ingest carbs, they will be burned first and then you will feel hungry again in a few hours and want more carbs. If you skip breakfast and/or lunch, or eat zero carb foods, you will continue to burn fats.

Physically he can go for hours and hours.
interesting. thanks for sharing
Check out Dr. Eric Berg on damage to the brain.
Does he get good and adequate sleep
@@UnapologeticAhole Yes, very… He sleeps like a baby.
Fascinating
My BS is high but I eat very close to only chuck roast with very little vegetables (no carbs or sugar). I can’t believe how I can work for multiple 24 hour days straight. When serious problems occur in IT especially with employers that don’t understand the issue, I literally have to stay up working the problem until resolved. I am clearly overweight and type 2 diabetic but I can work beyond any reasonable amount of time.
How are you doing now?
Kraft insulin survey! Most diabetics are slipping through the system.
@like bro tell me more,why?
@like bro so...you stopped eating high carbs? or you are taking a medicine so you can still eat the high carbs?
all the old people i know just talk about health issues all day-i think its crazy yet theyre allways in the doctors office
my elderly dad refused to partake in "senior activities" because he didnt want to listen to the endless "organ recitals"! 😁 He remained alert, functional, and independent (except for driving) at 95 until 2 days before he passed from kidney failure.
It’s sad.
Please let your guests talk!!
Absolutely extraordinary
I'm on day 4 of keto (again) and my brain feels tired. I just want to crawl in bed. I'm not getting much accomplished. I have experienced great energy eating keto in the past. Not so much with carnivore, but I assume I was eating too much meat. I'm trying not to cave.
I’m posting this too late to help you, probably, but you likely need to up the fat and electrolytes!
How are you doing now?
Why was Dr Berry there at all? There was no discussion, just Dr. Cywes lecturing. I have a brother like that 🙄
My husband and I have been doing Carnivore and Ketovore since January 2024. Neither of us have experienced an abundance of energy that most people practicing the PHD way of life. What are we missing?!
Hi doc, just a query. I'm 71 been Keto for 13 months. Not overweight just wanted to swap 25 yrs of just vege and fruit. My cholesterol pre Keto was always 3.5. Just had bloods taken, healthy etc but this time total was 7.5 and LDL was 4.3. I do OMAD don't go into fat bombs muffins etc, but I was having cream in my coffee (2-3 daily) a lot of bitey cheese and just started in the last month eating the skin on thighs (chicken). Should I be worried, my doc knows I'm not in favour of meds to solves issues except for my high pain level so we decided to pull back on the saturated fat. I'll have another cholesterol test in 3 months. Cheers Rosemary Perth Western Australia (71 yrs)
Check.put dr David diamond regarding LDL cholesterol.
Start eating vegetables with leaner meats
@@tracyburton9339 I just watched the presentation, incredible information. Cheers Rosemary Perth Western Australia (71 yrs)
@@KenWang2 I don't eat very fatty meat, ie grass fed mince and occasionally small scotch fillet. I love my broccoli so have that almost every meal. I'm counting my saturated fat content for the next 3 months just to see how being a little more sparing will alter my reading. I'm only doing that to ease my doctor's mind, so will go back to my normal use of animal fats once the reading shows a reduction. I certainly won't have statins. Cheers Rosemary Perth Western Australia (71 yrs)
I'm on this diet for 12 days now. I feel good. But why when i wake up in the morning my body feels like bricks and I'm tired. Again i feel great on this diet already. My pains are gone no hemorrhoids which that was the first sign.
Where is Dr. Ken Berry in this video?
... hey doc- where is your practice?... and this is an EXTREMELY VALUABLE discussion regarding adverse fluctuations in blood sugar levels yous two gentlemen have had... so please- what are your thoughts on the foods- meals that are good for helping “severely underweight- diabetics” (senior- female) to more effectively gain weight over a reasonable amount of time- and may help to improve energy levels- begin to clear brain fog (dementia?) and to safely gain weight ?... thanks
Dr Cywes is in Boca Raton and can see patients virtually from all over the world. There can be a long wait to get in but it is worth it. His contact info is on his website or in the show notes under the video title.
@@stephwessel7346 … I got your reply- and appreciate this update…thanks Steph!👍🏻…

He pops in just to say "yeah, maybe". He's usually pretty checked out :(
love your brains... I wish we could have an answer for severe muscle cramping . . . feels life-threatening sometimes, though I know it isn't . . . at least I hope not!!
It's a magnesium and potassium deficiency
@@numoon56 Have tried all the supplements and the balance drinks etc. Nothing helps. I think it’s my thyroid, maybe my medication needs to be lowered and I am dehydrated. That’s all I can think of
Soon as I increased my salt intake my muscle cramps stopped. Haven't had any for quite awhile now. I keep a salt shaker by the bed just in case. Can also drink salt water.
@@catrinaitaliano8755 pharmaceutical drugs do cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies and can throw off your mineral balance big time. Start by drinking more water and see if that helps.
@@numoon56 I have been taking Synthroid for 30 years and never had cramps from it before . . . that is the only drug I take.
Thank you
why is insulin high in tired athletes?
On carnivore now and on lots of salt, eating a lot and on electrolytes but getting cramps and no energy and drive and lost strength. When I eat a little carbs pain goes away weird I don't want to eat too much carbs and eating a lot of fat can't figure this out been a while
Potassium, sodium, magnesium is crucial. Check out snake diet recipe
@@AlotofStuffChannel thanks man I will check it out for sure
Thank you.
all this stuff is amazing, learning so much, can we eat high carb veggies sometimes/rarely, like a potato as a treat?
Not if you're gonna be carnivore and even if you try to go keto with it it's really bad for your system. You gotta decide what you wanna do for your life. It's a life choice really
If Hormones aren't the answer what about vitamins to target brain fatigue like B1, lipothiamine(TTFD)
Did you ever figure this out?
Loved the series!!
Wow!
i think i get sicker just thinking about health stuff but i guess i need more broccoli and less canned food..when youre 60 or 70 i think doctors care less or most dont care and if youre older you get tired of cooking so whats some ready to eat food? nothing i guess..i think doctors want us sicker to make more money..i stopped going to them
Ready to eat are raw vegs and cheeses.
@@stephwessel7346 just ate a can of traders joes sardinesthat sat around for 2 years
It's very likely that we can be deficient in either fat or protein.

How do you two Drs get 2yr and 6 yrs old kids to eat Keto and not carbs?
hunger is the best sauce. offer healthy food choices, ignore their tantrums if you have already got them addicted to junk. PS I don't recommend using carby dessert as the reward for a clean plate as that keeps the high value on the sugar.
5% Dr. Ken Berry, 95% Dr. Cywes.
Agreed-more discussion balance would be welcome! I respect them both…but it’s not a joint discussion.
Can we keep switching between fuel sources at different points of time during same day
yes, somewhat - many people switch to ketones after the overnight fast. I think I remember Dr C saying about 12 hrs. If you ingest carbs, they will be burned first and then you will feel hungry again in a few hours and want more carbs. If you skip breakfast and/or lunch, or eat zero carb foods, you will continue to burn fats.
