- Another very special piece!
I visited my local Rebuild site, which is set up to take surplus materials from construction sites and put them to good use. I found a piece of an old sapele door frame and had an idea! www.rebuildsite.co.uk
The result is absolutely stunning! The Sapele bowl measures 6 1/2 inch wide and 2 1/2 inches tall (approx 165mm x 65mm).
It always amazes me what people throw away. It's not waste until we stop using it!
Thank you very much for watching.

Another great bowl. Can I ask where you buy your veneers as I would like to try something like this?
I bought the latest lot of veneers from www.thewoodveneerhub.co.uk/ The Wood Veneer Hub. All good quality and well packaged. Thanks 👍
Great bowl!! One comment...I sure hope you are wearing really good respiratory protection. That dust will cause some serious hea!th problems down the roaf.
100% agree. I treated myself to a powered respirator last year. Not the cheapest option, but top quality and works well with glasses. Thanks for watching 👍
That wood is absolutely beautiful! I can't believe someone covered it with varnish 😢
Me neither. It really shines now. Thanks for watching 😎
Been looking at your channel and inspired - thank you!
My son is a 2nd year Joiner apprentice so Im hoping he can bring the useful off cuts home.
New to turning and a bit jaded by green wood turnings that soon split/crack. I think this is the way forward for me.
I have used veneers for scrollsaw projects but this is a great idea too. Great tip to use the starbond to toughen up the mortice area too.
Interested to find out where to get the labelled insert - another very useful thing.
Always happy to share ideas. I have a laser engraver, so I make the inserts myself. They really do help finish off the project. 😎👍
Great video. How long did it take for the glue to set, as with my luck, it would have come apart at the seams.
I usually leave the glue 48 hours, often longer. Thank for watching 👍
Beautiful bowl. That wood was a great find.
I think so too! 👍
That turned out smashing there buddy well done.
Much appreciated. Thank you 👍
I like the veneer idea you should do a bowl with loads of veneers cut into it 😉
I’ve just bought loads of green and red veneer, some hopefully there will be many more bowls to follow. Thanks for watching 👍
Beautiful piece sir have a great weekend ✌️
Thanks, you too! 😎👍
Nicely done
Thank you! Cheers!
Très beau travail !
Merci beaucoup
Great bowl. If you have another piece of that door frame, I would love to see you try a blue stripe, or more than one blue. Thanks again for the videos. 😎
Sounds like a plan. I’ve already glued up one with an oak insert and green veneer, it should be ready for UA-cam soon. I’ve also bought some red veneer too 😎👍
The green...perfect choice. Don't you just love that chatoyance?
Thank you. The added bonus of creating something beautiful from scrap just adds to the experience. Thanks for watching 👍
Simply gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
