Tuscany Rose for a lunch. Stanford Blue for a dinner. Can't seem to pick just one! What about the serving dishes, do they go on the table too or are they kept separate so you serve and then sit down? Just curious. Yes, sometimes a marriage is over way before it actually ends. 2 people live in a house like strangers who don't even have the energy to fight. Till one person just walks out, most often having met someone new. The one left behind is blindsided but realizes soon enough if they are honest that love left those 4 walls a long while ago. You don't miss the person as much as the comfort of being part of the picture. The routine, the knowledge that things were ok day to day but ok is never enough. Then you cry, and those tears make you strong, you get up and move into a new way of life. Lessons learned, stronger, wiser and more compassionate with others. God bless her she will Survive.
Beautiful words and so true. It happened to me after 30 years of marriage. I was comfortable with the way we were; he wasn't. I miss him very much, but I am doing well and better off being alone.
I so look forward to Saturday evening and wait for your video. I’m 69 and resonate so much with you. I love both of your table settings. The Tuscan Rose is so warm, cozy and colorful. The blue and white is gorgeous as well, but reminds me of cool, summer, classic vibes. For old friends and I choose the warm Tuscan Rose for cozy friendship conversation and laughter. I so miss dinner parties. For 34 years I would entertain once a month for 11 lady friends until Covid hit. I used to thrift for old rare English porcelain teacups/saucers until I had 12. So when I had a party and it was time for dessert, the ladies would rush in to the kitchen to pick out their favorite teacup for coffee or tea with dessert. They said it was the most favorite part of the evening. Plus I always made sure to have a little something to give out to each person to take home. Nothing expensive, just a little something…could be a little poem rolled up with a ribbon, piece of special candy, little trinket, coaster…..etc. Thank you for all your advise, reminiscing, thoughts and helpful ideas. I just about fell out of my chair laughing at the end with you and little Desi singing.....it was a belly laugh.....y'all are a fabulous team ♥ I absolutely love the Tuscany Rose pattern and have been searching at thrift shops for it but no luck yet....one of my favorites. Of the two, that's my favorite tablescape. My favorite color is purple so I'm drawn to it. I have a Pfaltzgraff pattern currently and it has purple in it. My heart hurts for your friend who's husband was so deceitful to her. I was married 28 years and felt that even married I had been "living alone" for many years. We were high school sweethearts and I was devastated when we divorced but managed to live through it. It was a tough road, but with my friends and God I came out on the other side a much stronger person. Your friend is very lucky to have you as a friend to walk the road with her♥ Please give her a Texas size Hug.....

Tuscan Sunflowers! Both tablescapes are beautiful, and blue is my favorite color. But the sunflowers along with the yellow and green just make me happy.
My thoughts exactly! The bright cheerful yellows and greens just made me smile and think how lovely it would be to have friends over for lunch! The blue seems more cozy and I like it for a dinner with friends. Blue is my favorite color and I love the blue glassware. I have some vases that are that same blue.

I’ve been married for 52 years. It’s not always been easy but I would be devastated if my husband walked out. If he passed away, I’d grieve from loneliness. Many decades ago when both my mother and mother-in-law were widowed, I made Mother's Day brunch for them. I used fresh cut flowers from my garden in my centerpiece. It had been a very long time since those two hard working ladies had been treated to being catered.. I miss both of them.

After almost 4 years of grandchildren estrangement and me closing my arms and heart to loving any child my niece has a baby. Unfortunately she is a single mom and really needs help. So I'm cautious but excited to be watching her newborn 2 to 3 days a week. Here we go Lord give me strength and protection.

I had to get two lawyer neither one was any good .He owes me over one hundred thousand, and left the country. I have lately found out he has lung cancer ,an i am.praying for him. I have my three greatest blessing ,my children .Its been fourteen years ,but i can never even had a date .My trust is broken foever.

Hello, I am new to your channel and love both tables you did. Please tell your friend I have been in her spot. I worked as chef and had a catering company. My ex cleaned out our accounts and took the house. I was embarrassed and felt alone. I stopped cooking because I lost the passion I once had. It took time to rebuild myself, but I did. Please tell her that she is strong, smart, and beautiful. She does not need any man to take care of her. She will get through this, and she will be better than before. Tell keep her head high, but also forgive him. Don't forget, just forgive. Tell her to keep smiling and to kill him with kindness. She is amazing and she will come out on top.
I lost "EVERYTHING"...... things that can "never be replaced"..."3 times"....property, cars, my babies shadow boxes I made with their hair, baby shoes, baby jewlery, my deceased mother's shadow box w. my baby pictures of her & I together, her favorite valuable antique watch.....yes, the STUFF meant a lot, I've accumulated stuff, not as special as that stuff......bought my own cars, " nice cars", but those shadow boxes, my big roll top desk left w. all of my stationary, special pens, my credit cards & checks!......it's similar, "I think", to losing everything in a fire, flood.......?

Susan I “Loved” your table settings for both the blue and the Italian inspired colours. I have always through the years like to add something special when setting my table. You do have a gift for decor and you are so creative. Really enjoyed this but then you finished off singing “ When Irish eyes are Smiling”and it brought tears as my dad worked most of his life in a music store my uncle owned and he was Irish so the whole store was very Irish. My dad passed away 29 years ago tomorrow so I think he was wanting my attention when all of a sudden you sang this song, with Desi of course. 😂💓 I know St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner but it surprised me when you sang one of my mom and dad’s favourite songs. A similar thing happened to me 17 yrs ago. We bought a house together and he dumped me the night I moved in. Left me holding the bag. I had a nervous breakdown and cried for months. Was 57 then. Got a job and went to work. Got thru it but my spunky spirit left. But aside from that, I do so love to set a beautiful table, cook yummy food for loved ones, and create magical experiences for friends and family. I admit to being naive about these things, but I am so often shocked at the cruel things people do to each other. That was such a horrible thing he did and it had to be devastating for you. I am glad you got through it. I understand how you were so changed by the whole thing. That kind of betrayal is hard to recover fully from and I think we are all changed by our experiences. It sounds like you have built a life for yourself now with friends and family.
I thought I have heard it all, seen it all, "been through it all".... but this is amazing and extremely cruel, almost demonic, to play with a heart given to you for a lifetime, to not have a shred of decency, compassion, honor, testosterone... We have something in common: I, too, did catering for many years and you are not kidding when you say how stressful it can be😱. But also it can be so rewarding. I will always remember the satisfaction in a bride’s face and in her parents’ faces after a beautiful wedding reception🤗. My story is close to the same as your friend. I was blindsided when my husband of 36 yrs left me for a mutual “friend” of 30 yrs. He tried his best to get me to join him with a mediator (of his choice). But I hired an attorney. He dragged this divorce out for 3 yrs because we was trying to hide monies, but I subpoenaed for documentation. Long story short, although the first 2 yrs were emotionally draining on me, the last 8 years have been the best years of my life! I know that your friend will bloom from this…keep checking in on her, supporting and loving her. My circle of friends shrank considerably when he walked out, but what counts is the quality, not the quantity 💕
How fun!!! I came home from a beautiful morning at church and watched this video while eating lunch. I also am single with my little dog 🐩 Molly. Watching this I thought 💭 there are a couple of ladies at church that I’d like to get to know a bit better, so maybe I’ll have a small dinner party! I’ve never held a dinner party, ever. But, why not? Step out of your comfort zone a bit. And while you’re at it, why not set a pretty table setting for myself? My table tends to be my desk, hobby spot, my reading area, so you can imagine a bit cluttered at times. Today I’m cleaning it off, getting some flowers, and twinkle lights, my favorite plate setting and dinner will be a lovely treat tonight ❤. I think some of us used to make beautiful dinner table setting. Life changed and some have beautiful glasses etc still in the cupboard not used. Maybe take them out. Make a beautiful table just for yourself. We don't have to order a date online. Sometimes loving your own company can be just as memorable experience.

Sometimes, as life rolls along, we find that the person whom we chose to follow those wonderful paths of life, has veered off onto another path and we did not even see how silently and quietly that happened. Dear Susan and Desi, I can't begin to tell you how much your videos have been a comfort for me. My partner and I separated, amicably, after 25 years together. It's been a crazy year as I was also diagnosed with autism and adhd at the age of 56. Your videos help me so much in giving me hope that I could make it on my own. I moved into my little cottage, small and cosy for one, a couple of days ago and I've never been happier. I'm looking forward with hope, freedom and excitement for the future. I am wondering which setting you chose for your friends. I like them both. I think I would’ve chosen the Tuscany Rose because it’s more usual. However, the blue is elegant! Watching this video, reminded me of how your son said, “you make everything pretty mom.” That is so true of you! You bring beauty to everything that you send to us. So many people bring ugliness to the world. You spread beauty. That is such a lovely and necessary quality for this life that we all experience. Another quality that I often think of that is more of a God given talent, is that you had a podcast in you as a child, before podcasts had even been invented! Your grandfather, encouraging your entertainment that you did for the family, and the neighborhood was a forerunner to you being able to earn a living as a adult, single woman, and “touch the world.” We are then radiate your life lessons and appreciation of beauty into our world. Your grandfather did so much good to give you a way to make such a accomplishment to the world, while earning a living closer to your family!!
I love the blue setting, But then I look again and I love the Tuscany one, so I guess I’m gonna say I love them both and as for your friend just let her know you’re always there. When I got divorced, all my friends went with him, and I learned that they really weren’t my friends, so I went out and made all new friends which are now closer to me than any of the so called other friends. But I was smart, and with the help of my very best friend, I found out everything there was to find out, and I siphoned our joint checking and savings account !!!!!

Both tablescapes are lovely. My mother taught me to keep flowers low enough for easy conversation across the table. Dramatic ones like yours can always be set aside once guests are seated.
I absolutely loved the video ending with you and Desi singing his little heart out. He is such a joy to watch. I think both place settings are beautiful and would have a difficult time choosing. Your green linen napkins with the gold utensils are beautiful. There are so many different touches to each table setting....its magical! I think the Tuscany setting is more relaxed while the English setting more formal, but both equally beautiful.

I have a health complication and I have so much pain I cannot sleep. A bit hear and there keeps me going. I came across you video, started watching it, and immediately my pain lifted for a few minutes. Makes me think that I should turn on one of my relaxing sounds tracks of meditation. Tuscany Rose for the win! I used to work in the catering business but not an owner. It was always fun to be part of someone’s celebration in life. One of my favorite events was a party at Karen Ors home ( she had a show in GR on PBS). I was very young and how she decorated her home with unusual art, antiques & one of a kind pieces blew my mind. I thought people of a certain income level bought all their stuff at Israel’s. I learned your home reflects you, your taste not your budget.

I have been watching little poet videos for 3 years now and yes she has mentioned the catering business but not the era, also the big houses she has lived in. What about the serving dishes, do they go on the table too or are they kept separate so you serve and then sit down? Just curious.
Yes, sometimes a marriage is over way before it actually ends. 2 people live in a house like strangers who don't even have the energy to fight. Till one person just walks out, most often having met someone new. The one left behind is blindsided but realizes soon enough if they are honest that love left those 4 walls a long while ago.
You don't miss the person as much as the comfort of being part of the picture. The routine, the knowledge that things were ok day to day but ok is never enough.
Then you cry, and those tears make you strong, you get up and move into a new way of life. Lessons learned, stronger, wiser and more compassionate with others. God bless her she will Survive.
Beautiful words and so true. It happened to me after 30 years of marriage. I was comfortable with the way we were; he wasn't. I miss him very much, but I am doing well and better off being alone.
I so look forward to Saturday evening and wait for your video. I’m 69 and resonate so much with you. I love both of your table settings. The Tuscan Rose is so warm, cozy and colorful. The blue and white is gorgeous as well, but reminds me of cool, summer, classic vibes. For old friends and I choose the warm Tuscan Rose for cozy friendship conversation and laughter. I so miss dinner parties. For 34 years I would entertain once a month for 11 lady friends until Covid hit. I used to thrift for old rare English porcelain teacups/saucers until I had 12. So when I had a party and it was time for dessert, the ladies would rush in to the kitchen to pick out their favorite teacup for coffee or tea with dessert. They said it was the most favorite part of the evening. Plus I always made sure to have a little something to give out to each person to take home. Nothing expensive, just a little something…could be a little poem rolled up with a ribbon, piece of special candy, little trinket, coaster…..etc. Thank you for all your advise, reminiscing, thoughts and helpful ideas. I absolutely love the Tuscany Rose pattern and have been searching at thrift shops for it but no luck yet....one of my favorites.
Of the two, that's my favorite tablescape. My favorite color is purple so I'm drawn to it. I have a Pfaltzgraff pattern currently and it has purple in it.
My heart hurts for your friend who's husband was so deceitful to her. I was married 28 years and felt that even married I had been "living alone" for many years. We were high school sweethearts and I was devastated when we divorced but managed to live through it. It was a tough road, but with my friends and God I came out on the other side a much stronger person. Your friend is very lucky to have you as a friend to walk the road with her♥ Please give her a Texas size Hug.....

Tuscan Sunflowers! Both tablescapes are beautiful, and blue is my favorite color. But the sunflowers along with the yellow and green just make me happy.
My thoughts exactly! The bright cheerful yellows and greens just made me smile and think how lovely it would be to have friends over for lunch! The blue seems more cozy and I like it for a dinner with friends. Blue is my favorite color and I love the blue glassware. I have some vases that are that same blue.

Many decades ago when both my mother and mother-in-law were widowed, I made Mother's Day brunch for them. I used fresh cut flowers from my garden in my centerpiece. It had been a very long time since those two hard working ladies had been treated to being catered.. I miss both of them.
I did the same for my mom and MIL. I miss them both so much.

After almost 4 years of grandchildren estrangement and me closing my arms and heart to loving any child my niece has a baby. Unfortunately she is a single mom and really needs help. I am so sorry about your friend divorced, I know the feeling I was married for thirty one years .I WAS so shocked and betrayed. I had to get two lawyer neither one was any good .He owes me over one hundred thousand, and left the country. I have lately found out he has lung cancer ,an i am.praying for him. I have my three greatest blessing ,my children .Its been fourteen years ,but i can never even had a date .My trust is broken foever.

Hello, I am new to your channel and love both tables you did. Please tell your friend I have been in her spot. I worked as chef and had a catering company. My ex cleaned out our accounts and took the house. I was embarrassed and felt alone. I stopped cooking because I lost the passion I once had. It took time to rebuild myself, but I did. Please tell her that she is strong, smart, and beautiful. She does not need any man to take care of her. She will get through this, and she will be better than before. Tell keep her head high, but also forgive him. Don't forget, just forgive. Tell her to keep smiling and to kill him with kindness. She is amazing and she will come out on top.
I lost "EVERYTHING"...... things that can "never be replaced"..."3 times"....property, cars, my babies shadow boxes I made with their hair, baby shoes, baby jewlery, my deceased mother's shadow box w. my baby pictures of her & I together, her favorite valuable antique watch.....yes, the STUFF meant a lot, I've accumulated stuff, not as special as that stuff......bought my own cars, " nice cars", but those shadow boxes, my big roll top desk left w. all of my stationary, special pens, my credit cards & checks!......it's similar, "I think", to losing everything in a fire, flood.......?

Susan I “Loved” your table settings for both the blue and the Italian inspired colours. I have always through the years like to add something special when setting my table. You do have a gift for decor and you are so creative. Really enjoyed this but then you finished off singing “ When Irish eyes are Smiling”and it brought tears as my dad worked most of his life in a music store my uncle owned and he was Irish so the whole store was very Irish. My dad passed away 29 years ago tomorrow so I think he was wanting my attention when all of a sudden you sang this song, with Desi of course. 😂💓 I know St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner but it surprised me when you sang one of my mom and dad’s favourite songs. A similar thing happened to me 17 yrs ago. We bought a house together and he dumped me the night I moved in. Left me holding the bag. I had a nervous breakdown and cried for months. Was 57 then. Got a job and went to work. Got thru it but my spunky spirit left.
But aside from that, I do so love to set a beautiful table, cook yummy food for loved ones, and create magical experiences for friends and family. My story is close to the same as your friend. I was blindsided when my husband of 36 yrs left me for a mutual “friend” of 30 yrs. He tried his best to get me to join him with a mediator (of his choice). But I hired an attorney. He dragged this divorce out for 3 yrs because we was trying to hide monies, but I subpoenaed for documentation. Long story short, although the first 2 yrs were emotionally draining on me, the last 8 years have been the best years of my life! I know that your friend will bloom from this…keep checking in on her, supporting and loving her. My circle of friends shrank considerably when he walked out, but what counts is the quality, not the quantity 💕
How fun!!! I came home from a beautiful morning at church and watched this video while eating lunch. I also am single with my little dog 🐩 Molly. Watching this I thought 💭 there are a couple of ladies at church that I’d like to get to know a bit better, so maybe I’ll have a small dinner party! I’ve never held a dinner party, ever. But, why not? Step out of your comfort zone a bit.
And while you’re at it, why not set a pretty table setting for myself? My table tends to be my desk, hobby spot, my reading area, so you can imagine a bit cluttered at times. Today I’m cleaning it off, getting some flowers, and twinkle lights, my favorite plate setting and dinner will be a lovely treat tonight ❤. And I love thrifting, so will be on the look for a candle holder too 😊.

I think some of us used to make beautiful dinner table setting. Life changed and some have beautiful glasses etc still in the cupboard not used. Maybe take them out. Make a beautiful table just for yourself. We don't have to order a date online. Sometimes loving your own company can be just as memorable experience.

Dear Susan and Desi, I can't begin to tell you how much your videos have been a comfort for me. My partner and I separated, amicably, after 25 years together. It's been a crazy year as I was also diagnosed with autism and adhd at the age of 56. Your videos help me so much in giving me hope that I could make it on my own. I moved into my little cottage, small and cosy for one, a couple of days ago and I've never been happier. I'm looking forward with hope, freedom and excitement for the future. I am wondering which setting you chose for your friends. I like them both. I think I would’ve chosen the Tuscany Rose because it’s more usual. However, the blue is elegant!
Watching this video, reminded me of how your son said, “you make everything pretty mom.” That is so true of you! You bring beauty to everything that you send to us. So many people bring ugliness to the world. You spread beauty. That is such a lovely and necessary quality for this life that we all experience.
Another quality that I often think of that is more of a God given talent, is that you had a podcast in you as a child, before podcasts had even been invented! Your grandfather, encouraging your entertainment that you did for the family, and the neighborhood was a forerunner to you being able to earn a living as a adult, single woman, and “touch the world.” We are then radiate your life lessons and appreciation of beauty into our world. Your grandfather did so much good to give you a way to make such a accomplishment to the world, while earning a living closer to your family!!

I love the blue setting, But then I look again and I love the Tuscany one, so I guess I’m gonna say I love them both and as for your friend just let her know you’re always there. When I got divorced, all my friends went with him, and I learned that they really weren’t my friends, so I went out and made all new friends which are now closer to me than any of the so called other friends.
But I was smart, and with the help of my very best friend, I found out everything there was to find out, and I siphoned our joint checking and savings account !!!!!
My Daughter It's going t through a very similar situation after 10 years of marriage. I came across you video, started watching it, and immediately my pain lifted for a few minutes. Makes me think that I should turn on one of my relaxing sounds tracks of meditation. Going to try it now and hopefully, goodnight for me. So many crosses to bear -- some very much like you friends who didn't really know how unhappy she was. My husband and I are still together. What a wonderful video! I love both settings, the Tuscan more than the Stanford. The musical thread is always right on! Then suddenly. . . a judo chop to the throat. Susan, you are a wonderful Friend to Maggie. She's brave and strong to say to you, "sure, share it". I'm going to be praying for her because it's got to be difficult to 'lose a body part' like she has, her husband. It's been 10 years and I believe she's going to be alright. We never know when love turns into a habit. Let's pray for God's comfort and strength for her. BTW, I love those little lights!!! I'm thinking not to watch your channel anymore. At 79 and abundantly blessed with naterial and financial wealth and have finally realized earthly wealth has no meaning. Preparing for eternity is my only focus. Twinkle lights and "stuff" has become irritating.

I was mortified when I heard what happened to your friend Magie, with her slimy ex-husband. How deceptive. But in all seriousness, some men just can't communicate about feelings. He didn't want to encounter his own betrayal in the face of Maggie. My heart goes out to Maggie. She is truly insightful and strong. She'll be great on her own, maybe even better without her ex.

Tuscany Rose for the win! I used to work in the catering business but not an owner. It was always fun to be part of someone’s celebration in life. One of my favorite events was a party at Karen Ors home ( she had a show in GR on PBS). I was very young and how she decorated her home with unusual art, antiques & one of a kind pieces blew my mind. I thought people of a certain income level bought all their stuff at Israel’s. I learned your home reflects you, your taste not your budget.

I have been watching little poet videos for 3 years now and yes she has mentioned the catering business but not the era, also the big houses she has lived in. There are also a lot of older video that will be re born again esp family. keep watching. i am not too sure about Desi singing, my daughter had A small dog and was told by a vet not good for his throat or his bark .
