  • In August of 2023, my buddy Stan and I flew to Billings MT and rented Royal Enfield Himalayans to do the Wyoming BDR and some more tracks on a 10 day trip. Our route comprised of a loop of the BDR going backwards north to south, then picking up more or less the Great Divide route up to Tetons NP, then back to our start in Red Lodge MT through Yellowstone. It was a fantastic adventure, each day was full of great scenery, great riding, and always some kind of surprise.

Not sure it came across on video but the Bighorn rim overlook was incredibly awesome and scary. I was timid to stand too close to the edge!

Camping at a brew pub - doesn't get much better than that after a tough day!

Love that Ten Sleep Brewery Speed Goat beer. I’ve preferred staying under the trees at Ten Sleep Rv Park for my last two trips to Montana . The owners are great people.

Speed Goat is one of the best beers I’ve ever had. It’s simple and just delicious! And yes the folks at the brewery were really cool. It’s not explained in the video but it turns out we were there for the 10th anniversary celebration - the crowd was awesome and they brought out cake for everyone. We had a super fun time and chatted with the cool folks at out adjacent table and learned a lot about Wyoming and heard fun stories etc. this was one off the most fun riding days ever.

Perfect camera position, Johnny. I dig watching the action of the shocks.
What a slice of God's country.
My Himalayan has never seen that action. Talk about freshness. Perpetual motion.
Bucket list item for myself is to find myself THAT kind of riding.

Beautiful landscape. Some intense segments on this day. Too bad about the chin mount but…the low side mount POV lets us see how the REH reacts to the terrain and your maneuvering of the bike. Already looking forward to the next upload.

I hate making a sketchy water crossing while a bunch of cows are watching, you just know they're hoping you bite it! Seems like that alternate camera angle helps show the steepness of the
inclines a little better. I'm almost certain I saw that band open for Sebadoh back in the 1990's in Kokomo, Indiana. Thanks!

Flight of the bumble bee. Apocalypse now moment there. lol. Cool video bud. Also ang had one out recently too. I also have a himalayan……. I’m just ok with it. I might get a transalp later. I have a Harley touring bike and have been riding idk. 50 years. Looks like your doing pretty good to me. Just being humble I’d say. I have watched your trials bike deal. I had a couple of them as well. I’d say the best motorcycle for teaching you everything. It really transfers over to even my Harley when I ride it. Clutch breaks gas manipulation. Good job on the video I really liked it.

The dramatic music for what looks on video like a tiny splash through a little mud hahaha

What a great day... aside from the damage.
I actually liked that side mounting of the GoPro for the trails. It was much closer to the action and more involving.
But the regular mounting worked better for higher speeds and smoother roads.
That overlook shelf was all about Selma and Louise... wasn't it?
What a great way to finish off the day... cold brew poured over a pizza dinner... the race of the stomach acids!😂
Been there and done that. Always take along some stomach antacid.
These scenes are how I tend to picture the iconic west in my mind. Really beautiful mountain buttes with big sky all around.

Johnny Pow crashing? Didn’t see that coming. Good videos so far.

Yeah that was weird. It’s hard to see in the video but it was a kind of steep off camber turn with little rocks to step down and tree roots and I went too fast I’m sure but it was like the front end unweighted and just bounced and slid right and washed out

What is your thoughts about the DR650 vs the Himalayan on a BDR trip?

    • @JohnnyPowRides
      @JohnnyPowRides  7 місяців тому

DR650 would be really good. The REH is adequate but barely. DR is lighter, more ground clearance and suspension, and almost twice the power.

Damn man I just bought my chin mount. I hope that is a crazy one off issue.
If done again would you still do the expert section or recommend bypassing it?

I’m gonna make a video soon where I go over the route (as we rode it) and give some thought and suggestions- stay tuned
