Thanks for the walk through. Took me about 14 hours over 2 nights as I didn't want to break any of those fragile old emissions hoses or clips. No more dripping from rear ! Found out that my intake elbow was torn underneath so it got a 1LE piece with no silencer !
Excellent video, nice guide for intake gasket replacement and probably head gasket replacement as well. My one question though is...why didn't you just take the hood off to allow for easier access?
Just purchased a 1994 Firebird 5.7 LT1 with 6 spd manual with 43K original miles. Car runs great for 10 minutes or so until it warms up. Then idle drops, runs rough, mis fires. Your videos are helpful. You as well as others have or had the same problem. Did you ever pin point the problem causing the misfires? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I'm not sure what is wrong with my lt1. my dad gave me the car id would start but blew smoke the last time it had a tick. it was a pushrod wile i was putting in new one i herd some gargling when turning the engine over from the same cylinder. popped off the radiator cap and sure enough was low. put it up for sale the highest offer was 800 lol id much rather fix it. it would be my first car and every man should have a sports car for their first. from what i seen its not hard its just some organization and time which i have. not sure what parts i need so I'm going to take it apart then order. I'm probably going to video it all as there isn't many videos of 4th gen Camaro head gasket change that are in 1080 hd.
Hey question I got a 96 camaro LT1 telling me to take air bleeder line off runs along intake bolts to heads any way around this like cutting it putting a piece of hose where I make the cur anyone do this before
When u replace the intake gasket it's at white smoke coming out from exhaust i have 96 trans am same engine my start at white smoke smoke coming from exhaust
@@FearlessMods ah fair enough well I did thr ls1 > ls6 intake manifold swap a few years ago on a 98 Z28. Took a bit longer due to breaking the oil pressure sending unit 🙃
@@beetlejerk True, should be a very small amount of coolant in the steam pipe system that passes through the TB. Very little coolant drain is required, and most have done the TB bypass mitigating this altogether.
The rubber engine mounts do no favors to the tranny mount...your best bet is to swap the engine mounts to poly and the tranny mount to rubber...and GM or ACdelco mounts are waaayyy better than china parts ....ASK ME HOW I KNOW
Nothing wrong with the optispark if you use the correct quality unit and no after market junk. Not exactly a hard job to do, just takes a while. Use a Petris and stop hating on it for nothing.

Glad you got ‘er dun Christopher!
Love the videos. While I love the old Trans Ams, I have a 1994 Corvette so all of your LT1 videos are helping a ton. Thanks!
Thanks AkiraSieghart. I just got a coil and a new distributor in, so stay tuned. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Would it be possible for you to do a video on how all the vacuum lines are ran?? Mine is mess and so much stuff has been bypassed idk what’s what…
If you jack your front end up on ramps it saves your back.
Good idea, hate working on 4th gens for that reason
If your cars lowered you can't get it on ramps

Probably would make it easier, but my biggest problem isn’t the hood…it’s bending over such a long/low engine bay which kills the knees and back! 😫
The intake manifold usually leaks out of the RTV seal at the back of the intake because it's RTV and gets soft due to the heat from the EGR valve.
yeah thats what mine does .... seems dangerous cause its leaking onto my cat and smokes when i stop
What’s the best way to keep this from happening again

Still searching, but getting closer. I may have fixed it by replacing the pigtails to the coil and the ignition control module. Jury is still out…
YES it does take a toll on the body have to do the job you just did THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEO FBODY WOES HERE I COME

Gonna do this myself this coming Saturday. I have a leak that was diagnosed to be coming from intake gaskets....
good luck Shon!
FearlessMods thanks
Great video, thanks for posting!

Its lowering you car?
LOVE THE VIDEOS OF THE SUBARU
LOL! Sorry not much Subie content lately. Are you subscribed?
Fuel Injector resistances change as they get hotter if this didn't work.
Thanks for the awesome video. Also has anyone ever mention that you look like Brett Favre ? j/k lol
dude i have the same car except mine is a hardtop personally the 25th is the best looking fourth gen

Mine didn’t have that. Normal if cold outside? Burning off antifreeze that got in the cylinder during the job?

I have a 95 trans am and changed 3 of thoes trany mounts till I finally bought a polyurethane one hasn't broken since just fyi if u snap that one too
How many hours did this take you ?
It was probably about 4 hours or so. Maybe more. Hard to tell because I was splitting time helping my son on his car!

Can you do mine? Lol. Ive had a shop do it twice and it still leaks. They're just going to refund me instead of doing it again...
I’m a Honda master tech and did a set on my uncles camaro, and left head didn’t seat, so frustrating, did everything as per service manual.
@@aceace8140 they got the intake right on the third try. :)
Unnecessary to drain the coolant, the Gen 2 SBC (90s LT1/LT4) is a DRY intake.
