Marshall thanks for the videos. You have been a blessing to me since I bought my car. In the middle of doing the head gaskets now. Thanks again friend I appreciate you more than you know bud.
So what was the verdict on the spot on the deck that was chewed up ? Did you have to do block work to fix that spot ? Or did you just put it back together ?
@@CarportGarageDragRacing Oh ok that's good. I'm looking at doing the same job on a 96 . The heads blew two months ago and it has been sitting. No water mixing in the oil . I'm worried if I find rust in the cylinder walls because it has sat for two months. Love the car just trying to decide if this job is worth it. When I saw the spot on your block it freaked me out. Thanks for doing the videos. There isn't many. It's making me feel like i might be able to pull this job off.
@@CarportGarageDragRacing I was seeing a lot of guys say that you need to drop the engine to do a head gasket job on these 90's LT1 Camaros and Firebirds...But it didn't look like it was a big problem for you to do the job as is.
Hi Lloyd, how ya been. Met you at LTX Shootout last year. You did an awesome job on my heads and intake by the way. Come to find out the area on the block was aluminum from the head and it scraped right off. Just need to get the head repaired. Think I'll get cometic head gaskets this time. I was using Mr Gasket. Any pointers are appreciated.
@@CarportGarageDragRacing been busy as hell. GREAT news on the block!!! Lovin the content. I’ve watched every new video you make and slowly going thru past videos.
@@CarportGarageDragRacing odds are that there is a lil melted piston between the seats and valves so I would suggest doing a valve job, surface heads, clean and assemble with new seals ($200 for both heads) and $50 to weld that area. Local shop can probably do it and save you shipping $.

Easy repair on the head, just weld that area up first then mill it.
As long as the block is smooth, it’s all good.

It was just melted aluminum from the head, scraped right off.

@@CarportGarageDragRacing Thanks man I think I will start tomorrow.
I just went through tearing down my whole LT1 and removing it in my 97. Where did you get that coil pack conversion?
Torqhead
So? What needed to be done to get it back on the road?
It's done now, I posted another video putting it back together

Just noticed you could catch a nail on the block, it’s gonna have to be decked.

@@nighttrain66 thanks for watching. Do you do those repairs on that type of damage? Or would it be best just to get it done locally?
