- I show you how to model a realistic jungle waterfall with UV resin, polyfibre and snow! No waterfall would be complete without Lara Croft, the Tomb Raider, hanging from a branch, waiting to plunge to her doom below...
The vegetation was generously supplied by Fabio from Diorama Presepe and looks amazing - go check out his website:

Superb I like the snow on the waterfall
Another Kathy Millatt triumph! The water/waterfall effects are amazing.............
I like the waterfall with the snow. Very good diorama.
Thank you very much!
That is insane how good that looks 😮 bloody brilliant work
This is brilliant and I’m beyond ecstatic to have found this channel!
Thank you so much!
Kathy and 'Starship Filth'....I need a lie down...(looks fabulous btw 👍)
Brilliant, the vegetation definitely makes it!
Hi Kathy, Another Fantastic D/R, post snow, love the whole thing, ( Talent or what 😍) you must have so much fun, All the Best Brian 🤗😎😍
Another stunning looking scene, great stuff.
WOW. that is fantastic Kathy. Both versions of the waterfall look right. love watching your videos.
Glad you like them!
This white water effect is utterly effin mind blowing
Amazing water fall !!
Great channel Kathy. Love your dioramas. Would love to see more vids of your layout, especially the dock scenes. Keep up the outstanding work. Thx
Awesome diorama, excellent tips on “ how to” adding snow crystals along with resin among the white cotton used for water and splash back from water pool. Thanks
JUST STUNNING, BRILLIANT!!
This is so amazing and wonderful, and you’re such a huge inspiration. I think the snow adds the realistic look of droplets, imo. Thank you for your brilliance!!!
Thank you so much!
Surprisingly I think I like it with the snow. It gives it that brighter pop that rushing water would have. Such a cool effect thought. That stuff really work me fir realistic water! Great job!
Thanks. I think a mix may work, snow where it’s breaking and no snow where it’s just falling.
The jungle is very cool, but I would imagine bigger waves for a waterfall like this.
Hi Kathy, the final result is amazing! I do however, like the look of the waterfall ‘spray’ pre snow application. Thanks.
love the diorama and the vegetation/jungle elements! definitely will be investing in some of the jungle products!
Hey Kathy. Apart from a couple of 'threads' that could be quickly snipped I think with the snow looks awesome. That being said I think both versions look absolutely stunning! This is one of the most impressive dioramas of falling/moving water I've ever seen. I think even Luke Towan would struggle to do better.
Yeah, agree, looks really good.
Great diorama, the realism on the rock face is fantastic 👍😁
Omg I love it!!!
so good! side by side the before looks better. but your end result is a delight!
Out-filthyword-STANDing!
Hi Kathy ,another excellent build ,you sure know how to bring them to life and real looking ...p.s l like the water fall before the snow was added....
Great video Kathy. The waterfall definitely looks better without the snow.
Always the problem when trying new things and so hard to unwind!
@@KathyMillatt you smashed it👍
How did I miss this!? Omg this is sooo amazzzing!!!!
Thanks!
I like the post-snow waterfall! It looks more violent. Also, I think water jets tend to stay roughly in their original shape as they break apart into droplets so I don't even think the wisps are unrealistic.
Thanks! I could do either in future, depending on the volume of water.
Amazing!! I love this so much, well done 👊
Wow. I don't think I have seen something as beautiful as this for a long time. This is a true show stopper. Don't give up the good work. It's off the scale.
Hi ya Kathy. Wonderful little diorama. A truly fortuitous package of jungle goodies from Fabio. I’m afraid I agree with you on the adding of the snow. The waterfall looked better without it. But never mind, it still looks great. We all learn from each other’s boo boos. Thanks for allowing us to learn from this small one. Take care. See ya next time.
Thanks Norm. Once it was on there was no going back sadly.
Don't go chasing waterfalls, unless you're Kathy Millatt :D beautiful work!
Very nice 👏 Looks best pre snow imo
Thanks Bill
Personally I prefer the waterfall without the snow, but either way its an awesome diorama.
Me too but once it’s on, it’s sadly on. Next time.
Very late to this video but your eye for detail is absolutely incredible and your artistic knowledge really shines through in ability to recreate scenery like this!
Fantastic 👍
This is so much fun! It really came to life with all the vegetation!
Oh, wow Kathy, amazing stuff here with this Lara inspired diorama. I bet you were dumb struck with all that freebie foliage pack you got; I know I would have been. Still, it is a wonderful piece of well Crofted (intended) work as usual by your talented hands.
very nice Kathy i think the pre snow was a bit more realistic but its still an amazing diorama
Thanks and I agree!
Awesome job! The texture and color variation that you got on your rock face looks so good. Fabio and his products are great too, that foliage added a lot of life to the piece!
Thanks so much!
Boa noite, excelente trabalho, meus parabéns, joguei muito tomb rider na adolescência, olhar para esse diorama traz boas recordações.
Thank you.
I honestly don’t see much diff in the two waterfalls, but imho I like the water fall pre snow, but I’m sure it looks diff in person. ❤ what you do.
Thanks. It’s a bit wispier and the threads are less defined before snow but both work.
kathy another ripper . I am working on a Water fall with I used UV for the base , but the foam I am using acrylic meduim with snow , Must say your water effect. its great
Thanks Damian. Hope yours turns out great!
a cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
It's always a pleasure to watch your skills, a great video, and really well put together, thanks Kathy.
It’s a beautiful diorama. I both like the before and after waterfall.
Hi Kathy, another stunning diorama, the polyfibre really seems to be a versatile material, it can be used for waterfalls, dust-clouds, even smoke ( I have ideas about a burning aeroplane about to crash into the sea, the polyfibre smoke effect would also hide the support wire), so many ideas, so little time, anyway,as always, stay safe, all the best from Scotland, Stephen.
I’ve used it for dust, explosions and loads of water effects so yes, polyfibre is great, and I have such a big bag it will last my lifetime!
You make it look so easy. Fascinating as always to watch.👍
Love the waterfall 😍, I want try too...thanks Kathy...your always inspiring me
Great 👍
your work is fabulous
Thank you so much!
Hi Kathy, another great and inspirational video, the diorama is brilliant and so realistic lovely scene nice job James 👌🙂
Yeah I agree with you on the before the snow look. It was way better.
Too late now!
@@KathyMillatt next time. While I was watching I was thinking about adding snow. And was happy to see you did. You're 100% correct it makes it look stringy. But still awesome. Make it a 8/10 not 10/10.
Great diorama and I think the pre-snow waterfall looked better. But what do I know. Waterfalls here in Florida are pretty small - lol.
love it! ;)
Ok Kathy I showed my wife and she liked the after, I liked the before. And it was for the same reason. She liked the fullness and I liked without because it was to full. Lol. Typical right? Either way I still think it is cool.
This time keep having fun, Chris and Betty
That is funny and perhaps a mix may work best.
Awesome work! That waterfall is perfect in my opinion. I wish I had your talents. The only thing I would like to have seen, would be if Lara was a little dirty, or appear to be wet. but I understand you can only work with what you have. I can't wait to see more your work. definitely subscribing!
She is glossy but it’s a little too subtle.
Awesome!
Snow way!
I feel like you should 3d print these characters with your face....
Oh no. I can’t think of anything worse! I do have a load of mini Kathys to paint up.
Impresionante eres una crack,saludos
Looks awesome. Some waterfalls look silky smooth, some are rough, either way it looks great!
I don't mind the snow but I think the waterfall needs more water, there's a lot of froth but very little mass
The one I was copying was quite a light flow and a lot of spray but I was hoping the resin I ran down would add a little more density than it did.
Wow Kathy, that looks great.
The vegetation is fantastic!
Maybe a bit more splashing is needed at the base of the waterfall?
Your smoke machine might work here too for water vapour for photos?
Great Job though.
Monique from Brisbane
Thanks Monique. The photos I was copying didn’t seem to have a lot of splashing but I did stretch this waterfall up a bit for effect meaning it’s taller.
good vid thanks lee
Thanks Lee
Very nice! I love the look after you put the vegetation in... very lush.
I think of the two waters, I like the more open feel of the one without the snow. The snow would probably look better on a more vast waterfall, but this one isn't like that.
Thanks and I agree. The first one was less dense.
I think it depends on how foamy you want the water to look. I do like the no-snow version.
One thing that does stand out is that Laura doesn't seem as connected to the waterfall itself which makes her stand out from the rest as out of place...perhaps more of the polyfiber worked out towards her to make her seem more like she just came out of that water because that might be part of it.
the watering falls look ace ive only played tomb raider a few times but I bet this scene happened XD !! have you ever seen dead pool ? I would love to see a fight scene from that as a diorama XD
Both waterfalls look impressive. Perhaps less snow in the middle drop section and reserve it for the foam at the bottom. Feel like I’m critiquing Michelangelo even saying less here and more there 😲
Thanks Bryan. Every new technique needs refining.
Looks fantastic. Not sure which of with/without snow I prefer: both look good in different ways. I wonder if the ideal would be just putting the snow at the bottom of the waterfall where there's more splashing and frothy spray?
Blimey, Diorama Presepe have quite a range don't they! It'd take a week to look through all the products!
I like the idea of snow at the bottom only.
QUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!
Kathy, another great diarama. I wonder - if it is not too much of a hassle - if you could use the snow in the middle (to build up depth) while keeping the sides relatively clear? That way, you get the best of both worlds. Perhaps too much faff?
I think it’s a good idea. I could do a layer of polyfibre, add snow then do another layer of polyfibre without snow.
@@KathyMillatt good stuff. I hope there is a project in the future where you can experiment with this a bit more. I'm looking forward to the next project Kathy. All the best
I do like the before waterfall but think in a few spots the snow would have been fine. We always judge our work harshly.
Snow or no snow that is the question, the waterfall with no snow to me looks representative of a water fall with less volume of water flowing over it than the the waterfall with snow. The froth on the water fall with snow just looks heavier as it should if more water is flowing over it. I would say seasonal difference there in your waterfalls, I personally think the one with snow looks more dramatic.
Thanks! Without snow is definitely a lighter flow with more spray.
preeeee
Loved the tutorial, thank you very much. One quick question, though, where did you get the polyfiber from?
I bought a massive bag on Amazon that will see me out but quilt/homeware shops etc are also good stockists.
@@KathyMillatt Thank you very much.
Pre snow I think.
Hi Kathy.... may I know, what brand of spray glue do you use?
I don’t use branded spray glue, just the Matt mod Podge and water mix I mention.
@@KathyMillatt ohh...I see...thank you so much Kathy
hello, what is the dark matter used at 2.2min on the video? Thanks
It's black XPS foam - basically a dense insulation foam I cut up.
What is the purpose of Lara Croft hanging from teh tree branch?
It’s based on a scene where she hangs off a plane but I simplified it to a branch as there weren’t many models of the right type of wrecked Japanese plane around.
Thanks for the explanation, Kathy@@KathyMillatt
I know you put a ton of work into the figure. However, I think ol Lara kinda ruins it. She is beautifully painted, but looks so fake compared to the diorama. I felt it so strong I had a double take just from the thumbnail. I agree with the waterfall with no snow, but I can see why others will prefer it. As always, impressive work and great video.
