Let me know what you thought about the film over on twitter! Just @Stuart Comerford with your opinions!'
My first film, "The Untold Story", is a documentation of the frequently avoided subject of teenage depression, following the story of one teenage girl as she deals with bullying, social exclusion, isolation, and domestic violence during a pivotal time in her life when she's finishing school and concerned about the purpose of her existence. It touches upon the serious topic of teenage life, more specifically - the part of teenage life that you don't hear about on a daily basis.

I know this is about the teenage girl but I'm kind of worried about that guy who was reading and got thrown out of the chair...
And I'm worried about that girls 'sister' I think that got hit
+Hunter Moore I don't think that was her sister, I think it was her mother. From what I understood, they were lesbian.
Hunter Moore same
That's Sean. Don't worry, the credit say "No Seans were harmed in the making of this" 9:14 :)
Stuart Comerford HAHAHAHA
Ok that's what I think I understood: the big guy with the orange shirt is friend of a bully (2:25) who bullies the girl that at the end of the video does a suicide. This guy (orange shirt) wants to help her (5:39) but he can't because he would lose his friends, girl and he would be treated like the victim. After the suicide he feels a lot of regret for not helping her but he still can't speak up against his friend (the bully). So he doesn't say that his friend used to bully her.
So yeah, that's it.
Okay thanks for the explanation because I understood non of it at first 😂 I understand it now
i also didn´t understand anything :D
what is this?
Lol "does a suicide"
+Ashley D me neither at the end it i literally yelled "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS"
"dOES A SUICIDE" I CANT BREATHE
I honestly didn't understand any of that
Brooke Rowe she committed sucide because of depression and stress at home and I think the guy was mean to her too
THIS WAS AMAZING EVEN THOUGH I UNDERSTOOD NOTHING
I think the guy was really mean to her and all these things led up to her suicide
xD oml
Most people dont understand depression
You only really know what it means once you have experienced it
And you dont want to experience it because its a hell you cant escape from whatever you do
lillian nguyen. LOL SO ME
The girl killed herself and all these people were talking about her as if they knew her like the girl that said “We were like sisters and walked together everyday” when really that girl bullied her and was just using the suicide as a way to get attention. The guy that called her “weird” and “strange” was really secretly obsessing about her and her death but didn’t want to be a outcast so he said those mean things about and to her. The reason these people were even talking about her in the first place was bc the school was making them. I went through a similar thing at my school when this girl killed herself, we were all made to talk about it for like a week. That’s probably what they were doing
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE CONFUSED...
this is not a chronologically followed short film. basically the short haired girl was bullied, forced into social exclusion, and experienced domestic abuse. when it goes to the girl and its following her it's showing her life and how things were for her. at the end of hers she talks of how she dreams of suicide.. well.. one day she kills herself. the paper in the boys locker I'm guessing was the drawing they showed.. sort of like her suicide note to him. when people are sitting in chairs, this is after she killed herself.. it's like school counseling. they are asking about her and the boys response is how he sees her and how they interacted.
I have absolutely no idea wtf just happened, shows a bunch of guys being pricks and shit then all of a sudden switches to some sad music and a girl talking about depression and shit the fuck just happened someone please explain to me lmao
I love how they just touch people and they fall. (Goals)
Me
i thought this was about them being gay im so disappointed
that's not cool😐
Gaara Hotaru what?
+Gaara Hotaru what?
+Gaara Hotaru what?
Gaara Hotaru what?
THIS MADE ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE BUT OKAY
Tbh I didn't get any of this at all... Glad I'm not alone
+Rachel Peck I was confused.
+ Rachel me too
Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it doesn't make sense
+Madeleine Martinez okkh ..... then make us na :D
Nothing so short has ever made me cry before.
Hey all! Huge thanks for all the support that's been shown to this film since its release, we're all so glad that it landed well and has been growing, as it was a big collaborative project that meant a lot to all of us. A lot of time has passed and we're all better filmmakers with a much larger and more developed crew, but it's nice to see our first ever piece of work 3 years ago still resonates with people! It means a lot to us.
It's funny to see how much confusion the story has on people, and while I've always contemplated explaining it...I won't. The purpose of the story is for you, the viewer to interpret it through your own view of life, whether that causes you to look at the film negatively or positively, or however conflicted you may be. The final line of "I bask in dreams of suicide...but wake, to blind courage." leaves it entirely open to however you perceive it. I'm not going to reveal how I see the ending and what it means to me, as I believe that's unfairly inflicting too definite a conclusion to it. But I will say through the community around this film, I have since its release, developed an understanding of so many potential endings/meanings than I ever originally intended, and that's the beauty of something creative like this, and forming it to be an entirely personal experience for everyone. If you are confused by the story, I would recommend reading through the comments as some people have posted great explanations and interpretations of how it resonated with them. The only thing I will say, is to confirm a few comments about how the story doesn't take place in order - it's a linear story from Ross' (the guy) point of view, until his first monologue, then it goes back to handle Kayleigh's (the girl) story while being explained from the group counselling session at the end. Then the last few scenes are mixed around quite a bit, before becoming a linear story again for the counselling session, and the final scene.
The feature film sequel, "The Kids Aren't Alright" has reached the end of production now after 2 long years and a long crowdfunding campaign. There's one trailer for the film on this youtube channel already, and another one will be making its way up there in a few weeks. Shortly followed by the online release of the film this Spring. And hopefully to everyone that liked this short, the film will be as enjoyable to them, as it's thematically very similar, even though it's not a 100% accurate sequel, it's a much more developed and better produced film.
Many thanks for all your love and appreciation shown to this, we're going to be working on a lot more projects this year to deal with this kind of subject matter that means a lot to us, so keep an eye out! You can reach myself directly on twitter as linked in the video description if you ever have any questions or anything.
Much love,
Stuart
How do you get involved in projects like this? Just out of interest, also this is a beautiful video
+Diamond Aces I had a camera, and 9 friends, so just decided to make a short film. Asked my friends if they wanted to do it, and everyone was up for it. Same goes for anything we've made, the conversation is always "do you guys want to make a movie?", "Yeah, that sounds like fun!". Enthusiastic friends and a bit of initiative made this film possible.
Stuart Comerford xD I wish my friends were like that, anyways it was a really good film
I loved it. I watched it again and I TOATALY got it. It was a great film. Sad film but it was great.
I didnt understand any of that
This is very delicate subject matter for everyone . I’ve lost a lot of people in my life and a large part of them were to suicide . It’s tragic and rips another piece of my heart out each and every time . There are a lot of people hurting in this world and a lot of bullies that are just hiding from their own truth too . If you notice someone struggling , offer your friendship to them , you may just save a great life . And yours too , for helping someone in need . Take care all , best wishes to everyone !
Ok, I think I got it, so the overvoices you hear are all people who knew her, and who actually associated with her. Including that guy. She had trouble at home and nooone at school really liked her. Which drove her into depression and then slowly proceeded to suicide. I think, honestly it was kinda confusing.
i dont understand... so the girl who was suisidal killed herself after she put that in his locker and when they were sitting down int he chairs when she wasent there and they were talking about her, were they talking about WHY or HOW eachother met..? idk im like so confused..
+JuliBear The Bear learn how to spel, and if you dont understand you can't understand anything
+Mr_Hobo_Jobo *spell

+MrHoboJobo You accidentally did that on purpose (・∀・)
I cant understand what theyre saying... but good short film!
Amazing but next time try to use appropriate language so this inspirational piece can be shown in school
I love the Irish accent 💚
I don't even notice it
The only kid I getting bulling was when that guys slap the kids head and push him to the ground in the cafeteria.
It was meaning that they went through similar struggles and I loved it!!!!
Hey! Your shorts are very inspiring. I was wandering how you got hold of your music...? Thanks...
I get music from friends, I have a lot of musician friends who are always open to composing for projects I do, or I reach out to occasional collaborators, it makes the whole copyright process easier and helps everyone get some exposure. Whenever the choice has been up to me, I've only ever sourced music that way. Sorry I can't be of more help!
lmao I know I'm late but when I read your comment I thought you meant shorts like the kind you wear. 😂
+Halle Northridge same😂
your nameyour pICTURE
+Grace TØP |-/
Is it me or does the girl look a bit like Hazel Grace? Oh well.
Yes that's what I was thinking too
So, the story is that the guy with the orange shirt feels bad for the girl but if he helped her, he's worried that he might lose his friends and love. But, since he and the girl didn't get along, it lead up to her giving up and committing suicide
This was a beautiful short film and is something I relate to very closely, I'm that creepy weird kid and school and it's hard this film is just so inspiring in that way, thank you for making this.
Was I the only one who thought of Skins ?
I'm going to join the crowd of people who are confused at this film. I know that you guys who made this were trying to make the film ambiguous and intriguing, but I honestly had no idea what was going on at all throughout the entirety of the video. There needs to be at least some level of understanding and clarification to make a film appealing and not just a series of confusing scenes.
I have a problem with the cavalier attitude towards violence in this video. The dark haired wingman for the male lead in the video was knocking people down at their lockers, throwing them out of their chairs and I kept waiting for that issue to be dealt with and it wasn't. Its like they are saying its OK to knock younger, smaller and/or weaker kids around at school. Very UN-impressed.
I gonna stop watching this, now.... hate bullies! Good-bye! I can't even think in anything rite row, after this video all it brought back is bad bullie-memories even when was lied to & stolen from by a fake friend.😔😢🙈
Absolutely amazing Stuart, the Cinematography is incredible. The delivery & pacing of the story, combined with the Cinematography & perfect placement of the soundtrack gives a great overall feeling. At times, i could have convinced myself i was watching Breaking Bad. You've got talent man.. Keep Believing..
I can't hear them at all.
Did anybody else understand? I'm confused...
This was heartbreaking to watch to be honest I even cried a little.
Omg!!! the guy in the red shirt at 2:41 has Green Day bracelets
OMG!!!
I liked the last few seconds. the rest confused me to death
0:55 I thought that was a ghost
I'm confuzzled
Your comment made me laugh xD

So in the letter she wrote that she was going to do suicide? Please correct me
Commit*
I just wonder if is that a real suicide letter... cause it's just so strong..
I find that drawing on my wrists with a red marker helps. Also, try
having a henna on the parts of your body where you cut the most. I don't
know why, but mixing paint also calms me down. Watch LOTS of puppy
videos, and honestly just take a nap. :)
may I use these songs on my short films?
great vid btw
I wish he saved her
this was great one of the best short films/story's I've ever seen
people who don't confirm are made to feel like nothing by people who do confirm because they are individuals. people who confirm lose there identity and there individuality which make us unique. in losing ones' individuality you lose yourself and become confused.
What happened at the end? Did she die or run away? Did she disappear? I'm confused but it's an extremely touching story about how nobody truly knows when a person is gone if they never knew the person well enough.
I think She’s depressed bc she’s embarrassed of who she used to be. Everyone at her school thinks she’s wired and cringe. She hears people talking about not walking up to her bc they believe she hasn’t changed. She doesn’t need to get physically hurt To feel so depressed.
.her and the guy are in love but he pretends to think 'she's weird' cause she's not popular and he is popular..she is depressed cause her mam is an alcoholic ...she commits suicide because of all this? (is this right??)
This is so good just simply the way everything is connected the editing the story everything ! I would honestly like if you check out a short clip i made and leave me a comment sharing your thoughts or maybe some advice wil be really helpful
I had no clue what the fuck was going on but I was more concerned about that guy that literally flew across the damn room when the bully pushed him off the table like this whole thing is just like so stupid and confusing Like don't get me wrong it's a sad topic but were these people on drugs when they made this cause the whole thing was bad
Bro I need five hours to get up from the bed and I'm still look like zombie... How ever to do push-up-_-
aaggghhh as the camera opened I was just like "she's soooo attractive Im gonna die" haha I love your face just btw lol
a girl likes a guy, the guy likes her back but doesn't admit it, the girl contemplated suicide and leaves her note in his locker.
You don't want someone to mutilate your body then don't do it to yourself every one is acting like no one will help there is hotlines therapists and many other people who can help u u just don't want help if ur not asking ur not gonna get it
It's funny how the doods shirt is talking about alcohol, Most schools wouldn't allow kids to wear that xD
If y'all didn't u understand this jts about the girl who feels outcast which give her bad thoughts
I don't get how people don't understand the powerful message in this. it was powerful!
Idc what you've been through u are mutilating your body and that only leads to more pain
Is this a bully story of a victim who committed suicide?
His shirt said "you're not drunk...I really do look like this" XD
only thing i could make out was chelsea bc my name bitches :))
u didn't say trigger warning
Lol at 1:01 are they saying "I dont need a snapchat just a daughter"
im watching this exactly 4 years from when it was posted
I don't understand any of this but I can grasp the concept, sort of. Anyone want to give an bit more detailed explanation?
😔
The kid at 1:40 looks ridiculously like a dude from my school lol
the guy at 3:02 talking.. sounds like vikkstar
I cant say I got the story line as it didnt appear clear enough. BUT all things said, the filming was good, lighting was good as well. Personally I would of give it a more of a dramatic ending. I`m in the mix of creating my first film too. So keep it up buddy, but make the ending more clear :)
The ending is pretty clear man... The jock is devastated (more than he'd ever openly admit) by his secret crush's suicide.
Wow, this is so... Confusing! I don't get it.
Holy shit dude you fucking nailed it
This made almost no sense..but okay
She felt alienated so she took her own life.
I thought the shot with the bike was good..
We have a different depression group called Depression Isn't Easy. U can put it In where u look for friends drama free
My school doesn't even have clubs but we should at least have something like that.
Amazing work. It's just brilliant how it feels like her story is indeed untold... yet it is...
she's so pretty :) And has nice eyes.
I didn't cry..... nope
what's the last song that plays I can't find it anywhere PLEASE HELP
The song is listed in the credits. It's by one of my friend's band called "The Rehns", the title is "Romeo". You'll find them on Facebook, soundcloud and youtube. I'm not sure if they released this particular song, but it might be way back on their Facebook page.
Is this Irish? I know the accent.
Ugh that guy is such a jerk
The alarm scared me so bad! xD
