Courtney!!! Thank you for the shout out. So fun to see you try my holy grail products. Isn’t it funny how our hair is so different yet these look great on you too! I know some people like pairing it with a thicker gel or hairspray for more grit if you find it too softening or too much frizz on day 2.
I do think it would be very helpful to see how your hair refreshes with the products you are using in the one brand wash days. As a wavy curly girl myself refreshes are a MUST to me. ❤😊Thank you for your videos 😊Also I think your hair looked amazing with these products!
I have great luck with Ouidad products, but my hair is slightly curlier than yours. Their Climate Control Stronger Hold Gel is the best gel I have ever used. I never pay full price for anything there, they regularly have sales of 30-40% off of everything.
Sometimes Ulta has the large sizes half off during their 21 days off sale. I stocked up on both the Ouidad Climate Control Stronger Hold up and the regular holds version, so I have enough for a year or two with my short hair 😂
I would really like for refreshes to be included in your very helpful videos too ! I think it would be ok to consider adding a 4th product - refresh product for day 2 hair. Thanks for all your great one brand washday recommendations Courtney.
That Ouidad stronger-hold gel is my go-to for summer humidity in the midwest. It gives excellent hold (3A, medium texture) without feeling icky like those old-school PVP hard-hold gels. It pairs well over a leave-in conditioner or curl cream. The other 3 seasons, I use either the Ouidad VitalCurl gel (for more hold) or the Camille Rose Curl Maker (for less hold). With all three gels, I use Kerastase Curl Manifesto Refresh Spray for both 2nd and 3rd day curl refresh.
I purchased the gel reviewed here. I find it either is amazing or doesn’t work at all. I think for me it’s the amount that is key. If I use too much it doesn’t hold up. If I use too little I get zero hold. I am going to start measuring it out to get it right. It also has the best hold when I pair it with a curl cream or foam.
The Quidad products were my second ones on my curly hair journey. I found them on the naturally curly website and because of the protein they give great curls ! Your hair color is very unique. It’s wonderful how upbeat you are even though you’re in pain.
Gena convinced me to go buy a boatload of Ouidad products too! I had only ever used that gel before, which I LOVE. It took a few tries to figure out how best to use it, but when you get it right, it WORKS. It definitely works best for me in the summer. Winter not so much. But I'm so pleasantly surprised with all the new products I got. Expensive sulfate-free shampoos never do anything for my hair, but Ouidad's actually suds and it's amazing. Their clarifying shampoo is great too. I love me some sulfates lol. And they have a mousse! I love mousse. Don't like foam, it's completely useless to me.
Honestly, the best thing I’ve tried for overnight is a Moonstone|Seven. It’s pricey but it’s the only thing that’s worked for me to preserve my fine waves. I don’t use the scrunchie that comes with it to pineapple my hair, I put it up in the Moonstone|Seven without it. It is the most comfortable satin sleeper I’ve ever used and it stays on overnight plus, my waves look amazing! I’m 4 years into the curly/wavy journey and it’s the best I’ve tried. Have you ever tried washing your hair at night, fully styling it and then dry it to 90%, make sure scalp is completely dry, and put it in a bonnet and go to bed with it that way? I find, with my difficult to wave hair, that it is the only way to get it to wave and stay waved. I just take it down in the morning and SOC and have the best success this way
I love using their Unbreakable Bonds products after coloring my hair and using the mixing drops in my gel every wash day 💙 Their Advanced Climate Control Gel Stronger hold (red label) is great ❤
Your hair looked great before and after the quick refresh. Now I might have to splurge and try Ouidad products. My hair is very fine with a bit more "texture" than yours, and I have a tough time getting my curls to clump. Your videos are really helpful..... thank you. By the way, I love your T-shirt. I have a plaque in my house with It Is Well With My Soul on it because it's my favorite hymn. I love the story of why it was written ❤
This is my absolute favorite gel. I usually style with a curl cream or leave-in under (often AG Recoil), ACC Stronger Hold gel, foam, and then Bounce Curl hairspray after microplopping. It’s by far the best combo I’ve found for my hair (wavy, fine, low-density, high-porosity from bleach highlights).
@@janetsilverman7275 I don’t usually do any refreshing (aside from dry shampoo at the roots). It either looks fine or it doesn’t. And if it looks pretty bad, I’ll probably just put it up.
The original ACC is my all- time favorite gel. I’ve been pairing it with the Curlsmith frizz control jelly and it’s given me the perfect combo of weight, definition and hold. I get the best refreshes too!!
I have not had much luck with the CurlSmith Frizz Free Jelly. I have always used it over other styling products. Will have to try it underneath. I wish I could use the ACC. I has wheat proteins, so I can not use it. 😢
I have used several Ouidad products through the years and was excited to try this shampoo and conditioner because I have had to stop using Ouidad due to the strong fragrance. It was awful for my hair. Turned it to floofy straw. 😢 But I would 100% try every product in their line again if they did frag free. I highly recommend the gel in humidity. It’s great.
That gel was a game changer for me, especially when I pair it with the Innersense I Create Definition foam and the AG Recoil. I can get days out of a wash day with a simple water spray and scrunch in the morning.
I've wanted to try Aveda products but they are sooo pricey and never seem to have sales. I usually use high end products but the ones that have decent sales
I didn't have much luck with the Ouidad Stronger hold gel. I gave it 3 or 4 good tries, and I just had more flyaways and frizz. I haven't tried that shampoo and conditioner. I do like their climate control curl cream. It's one of the lightest curl creams I have tried and it helps well with clumping. But their gel, it works best if I layer a stronger hold gel on top. I been topping it with the Harry's to use it up. 😊
I normally live in a relatively dry climate so I only use it when I travel to see relatives in very humid areas. Still, I've used this gel several times and it works quite well, with solid hold. My hair doesn't have your silky texture so I also use the touch-up balm from the same line once it's dry. I love that it's not greasy but it does help with the frizzy halo. And it's crazy to see how much curlier my hair is in humid weather.
I’m obsessed with my ouidad gel and it’s not the strong hold! I will have to try that next!! I’m obsessed my hair is so soft and smooth and light weight this is what I’ve been looking for ! I share your joy !! lol 😂 ❤
The Ouidad Climate Control Stronger Hold gel is one of the only ones that works for me! It tends to do better for me in more humid weather; it's been drying my hair out too much in the winter cold. I do swear by their Climate Control Featherlight Touch Up cream! It is one of the only things that helps me refresh my waves the next day. I've never tried their shampoo or conditioner because I have a set I love at the moment.
I LOVE Ouidad products, but I use the VitalCurl line. I thought your hair turned out beautifully on wash day, but I was worried about the amount of gel you used, which might be why day 2 didn't turn out so great. A lot of people seem to like that gel a lot, but I find LA Hold works better with my Ouidad wash day. By the way, the VitalCurl mousse is awesome.
I LOVE that gel. My hair is medium texture, medium density, and 2c to 3b wavy/curly. I like to apply either Treluxe Reflex Serum or AG Recoil, followed by a small amount of either Jessicurl Spiralicious or Treluxe Hi! Defintion gel. Those 2 gels really help my curls to clump really well. Then I layer on a small amount of the Ouidad gel as a last step. It really seals my hair nicely against the humidity of South Central Texas. It's also somehow moisturizing for such a humidity blocking product. It sounds like a lot of product but I've found it really doesn't take much when you're using quality products like these. They're all pretty concentrated so a little goes a long way.
This is my favorite gel and I love their shampoos and conditioners. I love how soft my hair hair feels after using these products. I do get the flyaways too.
I have coarse, silky hair strands and have had the best luck Ouidad products. I used to use their shampoo and conditioner from a different line and I can’t say I LOVE them. But, the strong hold heat and humidity strong gel Courtney used is the best I’ve used to get the most curl and longevity out of my wash days. It actually makes my hair lighter than it is without product. I wouldn’t believe it if it didn’t witness it for myself! I also add some Innersense volume foam to separarte my curls clumps a little more. It seems to keep them intact. One thing that makes a difference for me is refreshing with a TINY bit more of the gel mixed with water and quickly diffusing until dry. This is especially works well on day 2 and (if I’m careful with my hair) day 3 as well.
I'm glad to see they have fragrance free products. I had my hair cut at a curly salon today and they used Ouidad. I'm not loving the "salon" fragrance.
I've never been one to judge an entire brand because most have some things that work for me and some that don't. I often use a drugstore shampoo and CurlSmith conditioners, my leave-in varies, and Ouidad ACC gels (both original and Stronger Hold) are my absolute hero products in the central Texas (Austin) humidity. When humidity is low or mild, I love TreLuxe Hi! Definition Gel. I'm not a fan of the Ouidad ACC shampoo or conditioner or any of the other Ouidad shampoos or conditioners I've tried. Her ACC styling cream is excellent, but I mostly avoid styling creams and rarely use them. I also love her Botanical Boost for adding some moisture before bed and for refreshing in the mornings. My "ride or die" things I always return to are Ouidad ACC gels for the summer and CurlSmith conditioners and treatments. I also love The Doux's Mousse Def, which is the only foam mousse I've ever used that gives me enough hold to last multiple days in the summer humidity here.
The gel is the OG. I use it over blueberry bliss leave in and kinky curly curling custard during the super humid Alabama summer months and it’s is the best!
A combo my hair has been loving lately, even in these low temps and low dew points, is scrunching in LA Looks Sports gel (blue one) in the shower, plopping for at least 30 minutes, then adding the original Climate Control gel on when my hair comes out of the plop. Sometimes I add a touch more LA Looks half way through diffusing. But the combo of these two together is unreal for my fine waves. I sleep in a tighter neck gaiter pulled up over my curls (Nuffsaid brand), and I kid you not, it looks exactly the same, even on day 3. I can get 4-5 days wearing my hair down with this combo. My hair doesn't hold my waves very well, it's naturally high porosity and frizzes to the heavens, but this combo is heaven sent and gives me even more curl than I'm used to. I've thought about trying this stronger hold gel, since the original alone will only give me 1 good hair day, but I'm afraid it might weigh my hair down. Yours responded well though, so I might give it a try sometime!
Right after used Ouidad look great . But later on night I really thought need lift . Second day shake No help . If I have day like that use little bit mousse water rub in hand pick though hair help . Thanks UA-cam Courtney
I recently am trying Ouidad too just to try something new. I like them! As an innersense customer for years, I'm used to using those expensive concentrated brands. Ommmgg when you poured out that much product I was like WHY. Then laughed at your comments about it.
I finally went out and bought it after eyeing it for about a year. Unfortunately I had to return it 😢 It over moisturized my hair and had no hold. I also tried it with the curlsmith hairspray and it was still overmousturized and didn't really form a cast.I have fine, high porosity hair that loves protein and hates moisture. I
Currently I’m really sick with a Respiratory virus and this video helped cheer me up and keep me company as I rest in bed. ❤ just my thoughts I think the refresh did help a little other than the one section looked a little more straight. your hair looks gorgeous! Especially right after the it dried after being washed, styled, and dried it looked truly stunning radiant and shiny with beautiful curl clumps. ❤❤
Have you tried Bambonn yet for sleep protection?!?! I haven’t never been able to make ANYTHING else work but that thing is comfortable, doesn’t slip off, hair looks just as good or better than the day before. Love it
Honestly I would 100% repurchase these. I think you get so many uses out of the product. It makes it worth it. You have to use so little of the shampoo, conditioner, and gel that they’re going to last for forever.
I'm with you in Texas also! We're not built for the bipolar weather!! Fine, curly, looks dry hair if i don't use a curl cream at the end of wash day. Oh, I can't have it dried in the wind or by diffusing. Otherwise, it looks so dry, but it isn't.
Hi Courtney, I love your videos and I can’t tell you how much your videos have helped me with my wavy hair journey. I was wondering if you could do a video on the viral video of the net bonnet plop in a bonnet diffuser. I think it will give the looser curl pattern girls a better and genuine option on if it would work for us. Thank you!
Wow! I think your hair has more volume, more shine, and a more NATURAL, less product-y look than most any other video I've watched. I don't think you needed the refresh at all, considering the overall shape and look of your hair, without obsessing over individual curls.
We've had cold snaps in the NWUS for about 2 weeks so I hadn't tried styling it curly. Last week the highs were only in the teens. The climate is our worst arch nemesis.
My hair looks like yours but I'm kind of broke to spend money for Ouidad. My hair will just settle for Aussie as Aussie already works fine with my hair at a very low price.
it made my hair feel like I’d left in a protein treatment overnight! Tried it a few times and same result each time. Caused me to wash my hair sooner than normal each time. I was sad cause I heard great things. Glad I got the trial sizes.
Hi! I recently found you and subscribed. After testing different products, which works best for your curls? I've been following Live Love Locks and love his new shampoo. He's helped me a lot when I want to blow dry and straighten my hair. Now I want to practice with my natural curls. Do you have a best practice between washes for your curls? Thank you for your help!! ❤️
Have you tried applying stylers and then do the brush styling? I’ve been doing this lately and it is helping me to better distribute the product. Maybe you could do a comparison video!
Love your videos! Been wanting to try their hold gel but it’s out of my budget. Do you think it’s most comparable to the shea moisture milk gel? Or do you know of a product similar to that?
I tried this gel but it was too slippery for me, made my hair feel too soft and didn't give me enough hold 😵💫I wish it worked for me since I heard such great things about it from others
I've only ever tried the gel. I didn't feel like it did anything for my hair. We have very low humidity here, though, so it probably wasn't meant for me.
Ok I searched and search for my previous post in which I asked if you have or would do 1 day wash on Miribel Naturals and while on their site saw your video so that answered that question. Now on to the next. I cut my hair rom below bra line to chin length and with that cut I lost the ability to get my curls to last beyond wash day. Do you have any recommendations or am I stuck refreshing to nearly wet as wash day and diffusing? Its rather short to Medusa clip and I am at an all time loss as to what to do
I think wheat protein is a no no for us gluten free types. Also, hydrolyzed vegetable protein could mean soy and I definitely can’t have soy. Plus the scent is a headache inducer. I want to like this gel but just can’t
I think day two Nope .low curl . Might be to much conditioner. I try less . My hair just one day need help .try put little mousse wet hand put mousse on run throughout your hair. Great pick up .
Do u have any suggestions on how to get the under layer of my hair to actually hold the waves and curls? The top layers of my hair are loving the new products and transition period but my bottom layer just goes straight and looks weird under the waves and curls. I kno I just started but it still is a little frustrating. Thank u for all of ur very helpful videos
I have in the past! I have many video's where I did! But this is based on an experiment I did that started with this video: ua-cam.com/video/8PCe5OblN3k/v-deo.html
This is my go to! And guess what? I have thick, coarse, dry hair and it makes my hair so soft! But unfortunately I can’t always afford it. It is so expensive!!
@crystalferris8425 - you described my hair, but I have to add frizz. Are you saying you use all 3 products? Shampoo, conditioner, and gel? This brand is cheaper on AMAZON than where she automatically sent us to. I agree it’s quite expensive, but I’m desperate right now.
@@raindot5156 I haven’t tried all three just the gel. But yes extremely frizzy hair too and this takes all of the frizz away. I’m going to try the shampoo and conditioner too!
I have thick course hair too! I bought the gel. In fact, I bought 2 9f them when they had a great sale on Amazon. I just haven't tried it yet. But now I will.
I can't pineapple my hair well at all. It's more like a willow when I try and it stretches everything out! And I have a headache the next day. I've been trying something new that works well for me though: flipping my head upside down, taking my hair and separating it in three sections, and lightly clipping the sections on top of my head. I then put a silk cap or the BamBonn over it and it's actually kept my waves looking halfway decent the next day. I'm not sure it would work for everyone but I don't have headaches anymore.
I have 2c & 3a curls with course and medium density. I have tried this Ouidad gel and by 4 hours in I have frizzy fly away hair. I am almost 3 years into my curly hair journey and still have not found a gel that will stop my frizz.
Courtney!!! Thank you for the shout out. So fun to see you try my holy grail products. Isn’t it funny how our hair is so different yet these look great on you too!
Yes the tiny refresh did do something but it also aggravated the front piece of gour hair.
I recently am trying Ouidad too just to try something new. I like them! As an innersense customer for years, I'm used to using those expensive concentrated brands. Ommmgg when you poured out that much product I was like WHY. Then laughed at your comments about it.
LOL Yeah... I really messed up there!
I always love your shirts 🤍
Awww thank you! This is where I get them from: bit.ly/33Y1NAV
Thank you!
I just ordered the other day! I'm so excited but it's taking longer to ship than I expected.
Have you tried Bambonn yet for sleep protection?!?! I haven’t never been able to make ANYTHING else work but that thing is comfortable, doesn’t slip off, hair looks just as good or better than the day before. Love it
I think it looks better before the refresh 😊 so, would you say it’s worth it for the price point?
Honestly I would 100% repurchase these. I think you get so many uses out of the product. It makes it worth it. You have to use so little of the shampoo, conditioner, and gel that they’re going to last for forever.
It is 💙
Yes, worth the price. It lasts a long time. Also, watch for sales on the website. When they have sales, they are good ones.
LOVE your t-shirt 💜
Awww thank you! This is where I get them from: bit.ly/33Y1NAV
I like the refresh after the one brand wash day!
I'm with you in Texas also! We're not built for the bipolar weather!! Fine, curly, looks dry hair if i don't use a curl cream at the end of wash day. Oh, I can't have it dried in the wind or by diffusing. Otherwise, it looks so dry, but it isn't.
I love this gel paired with just a couple pumps of the innersense definition strong hold foam and a tiny bit of the Giovanni direct leave in.
Thank you!
I haven't had such luck with this product!
Wow! I think your hair has more volume, more shine, and a more NATURAL, less product-y look than most any other video I've watched. I don't think you needed the refresh at all, considering the overall shape and look of your hair, without obsessing over individual curls.
Oh thank you!
Can you please do some tips on how to do this process but for people with super short hair? My hair is only to my nose and dosent fall like yours
We've had cold snaps in the NWUS for about 2 weeks so I hadn't tried styling it curly. Last week the highs were only in the teens. The climate is our worst arch nemesis.
I is think so many products need a second or even third product like curl cream,m or mousse/foam. Would love refreshes to be added.
Great deal at Costco this product. 3 bodies for $49.99 for July.
My hair looks like yours but I'm kind of broke to spend money for Ouidad. My hair will just settle for Aussie as Aussie already works fine with my hair at a very low price.
Didn’t love the bond building shampoo or conditioner, well my hair didn’t. I adore the gel.
That is so interesting! What did your hair do with the shampoo and conditioner?
it made my hair feel like I’d left in a protein treatment overnight!
Thanks for the tip!
Love your videos! Been wanting to try their hold gel but it’s out of my budget. Do you think it’s most comparable to the shea moisture milk gel? Or do you know of a product similar to that?
I wonder if the next washday calls for the magical SheaMoisture lineup to deal with this weather!
I tried this gel but it was too slippery for me, made my hair feel too soft and didn't give me enough hold 😵💫I wish it worked for me since I heard such great things about it from others
After the refresh, the hair has started to look a bit dirty at the roots. It may be a camera/screen/lighting thing, but that’s how it looks to me.
I have the Ouidad gel and have used it a few times, still trying to figure out how much of it to use. Seems easy to overdo.
BEAUTIFUL RESULTS!!!
I’ve got a leave-in cond spray sample but can’t use it - WAY too scented! Are all their products that way?
Can you do boucleme next or pretty curly girl? ❤
I might be the odd one out, but I found this gel too moisturizing. My hair falls pretty flat with it
I think day two Nope .low curl .
I noticed that you don’t use Aleve in gel. I thought all curly girls should use a leave in gel. I’m still learning so I would love to hear your input.
Yes to refreshing!
How do you pineapple without pain? Once my hair got long enough to pineapple overnight I discovered just how horrible it feels the next day...ALL day.
I'm sure you see that how much hold liquid gel can get.
I thought it had really good hold!
It's official. Ouidad climate control gel works for everyone but me. 😅😢
Me neither…..but I see others great results and reviews and am tempted to but the travel size to try again🫣
I can't use it, either.
WAIT, have you not tried the Climate Control Stronger Hold gel before???
My hair gets stretched out from a pineapple too.
I liked these products but the scent of the gel was super strong and can’t use it anymore.
I have 2c & 3a curls with course and medium density. I have tried this Ouidad gel and by 4 hours in I have frizzy fly away hair. I am almost 3 years into my curly hair journey and still have not found a gel that will stop my frizz.
I had to find a glycerin free gel, because of those same issues. Jessicurl Spiralicious has been my fave for years. No need to check humidity levels 😊
I agree. Try glycerin free. I like to use Jessicutl spiralicious as well. I top it with a little of Biosilk Rockhard gel.
Do you think the shampoo/conditioner was too moisturizing for your hair?
No! I was actually kind of worried about that. But they feel really nice for my hair.
Is the Ouidad Bond S&C something you use all the time or just once in a while. Tia?
I was interested until you said it has wheat in it. That's a big nope from me.
I just don't like the smell of Ouidad products. I have fine curly low density high porosity highlighted hair.
The scent had me returning the products. It’s overwhelming and gave me a migraine.
Same

Oh no! 😅
