My favorite part was when the film without a trace of irony showed Wendy dying old and alone and cheerfully proposing this as a happy ending.
She was also somehow able to predict the future of powered aviation even though this movie is set before humans even knew such a thing was possible
because that's how little fucks were given when writing this script!
Wendy dying old and alone
Pretty much Disney at this point
I was shocked by this scene!
The feminist dream for some reason....
@@petriew2018 so she's Diet Nostradamus now? i mean he talked about metal birds and shit
I mean, isn't the whole point of the story that Wendy, a semi grown girl, gets introduced to a bunch of lost "boys" as a mother figure.
Yes! That is the point. That right there changes the entire theme of this movie. F@$king woke garbage!!! I'm a minority male myself and I hate this woke disney shit!!!!!!! Will noone talk about Wendy slapping Peter Pan? Domestic violence anyone? Is that ok?
You're not supposed to read the book you idiot! Don't you know how problematic it is? I suppose you could be referring to one of the millions of adaptations, but those are all white-adjacent too. Any character arcs contained in those has been tainted by supremacy. Better to just take the title and maybe a few pairs of familiar stockings. Fork out and celebrate the diversity, you bigot.
they don't even know what a woman is anymore.
It should be. But then woke people would call the movie sexist, trying to show that women were made for looking out after the men.
Exactly
I find it especially hypocritical that Wendy is this independant "I don't need no man" anti motherhood girl boss, yet her mom is automatically ecstatic when she get a bunch of kids thrown at her without even asking her opinion. So, I guess girl boss is only for the main young female character? What a modern take indeed.
Yeah, it's pretty fucking ridiculous. "Hey mom, sorry for disappearing on you, but I'm back now and by the way here's like 10 rando fucking kids I expect you to house and feed kthanksbye gonna go be a childfree wagie and die alone cuz that's my ultimate happy thought."
I think it's the Hollywood mentality of "come on everyone, love one another, take in migrants into your homes and care for them or you're a bigot- ignore the fact we live in gated communities" kind of BS.
Well yes, until The Wall aproaches and reality sets in
I liked how sweet and feminine Wendy was in the original animated movie.
Wendy from the 2003 version was way better. She was a more active character but still likeable and relatable to the audience, it even made her betrayal of peter more understandable. She wants adventure and fun but can't escape her growing emotional maturity. That's essentially her character arc.
Tinker Bell being friendly to Wendy is extremely weird. That is their whole dynamic
Girl powah xD
They stripped away her personality and turned her into the "black supportive friend" of the white lead. And they call that "improvement."
@@mkeogh76 exactly
Well to be fair, you can't have her being jealous of a white girl. Besides, nobody cares about themes or character motivation. The formula calls for a known title and some familiar costumes. There is no dreamer like Walt, driving a team of artists to create something that will inspire kids and maybe amuse their parents. The moral is whatever happens to be trending. Anyway, angry people = more eyeballs. Just helps feed the beast.
@@amarissimus29 thats the main reason I did not watch it on disney plus
Peter misses his mother too, and he KNOWS the Lost Boys all miss their mother. That’s why he brings Wendy there in the first place, so she can play at being their mother while he plays at being their father. Wendy’s presence (as the only girl) is what’s supposed to prompt change in them and remind them all of what they’ve lost, even the pirates. She’s literally the definition of a feminine hero, and they took it all away to make her “strong and independent.” Their attitude towards feminine traits and qualities is so clearly negative, you can tell they hate women.
Exactly. The whole original point of the story was that these boys needed a mother figure to some degree.
Why modern Disney went for a story with that moral I shall never know
To the "modern standard", the only strong woman is actually a man. Why do you think they're all ok with males in female sports?
Anyone else sick of Hollywood making classic villains more “sympathetic” sometimes anti-heroes and turn classic heroes into psychopaths? Almost like Hollywood is run by a bunch of evil psychopaths who sympathize with the villains.
Yeah, making Hook an ex lost boy only makes Peter a sociopath for maiming and mocking him
jokes aside, most of the time what simply happens is they try to come up with some profound shit, with 8d characters having complex motivations but they're, as we know, can't write shit. I would rather call them infantile, which is very ironic in this movie's context
@@williet.3058 Critical Drinker said it well when it said that they tried to make Hook sympathetic, but all they did was make Peter look like a complete psychopath.
@Crusader21
Considering Hollywood literally IS run by evil psychopaths, child-diddlers, p3dophiles, and 'g'rapists who think of themselves as 'philanth-rapists,' them turning protagonists into assholes and villains into "misunderstood" anti-heroes, is actually more credit than you'd expect from them.
She-Hulk and Velma are probably two of the most evil villains shown on streaming television, yet are presented as the heroic protagonists and people are really surprised Hollywood is as awful as it is? The American gaming and comic book industry is just as bad, too.
Almost like there's an agenda. Look no further than Emperor Palpatine's bloodline taking the Skywalker name after all the Skywalkers are dead 🎉🎉 wow! They're not even subtle about being evil and satanic anymore. Their pushing it on kids.
The fact that she could fly after imagining all her "girl boss" moments, including her dying alone on her couch, made me roll my eyes so hard in the back of my head I could see my brain stem.
So, they got rid of Jane for false empowerment? Typical.
@@khfan4life365Well we can’t have a mother, now can we?
How is dying a happy thaught? Does She have a death wish?
@@Master-Works Especially dying alone....
@@nadilenebudski Dying alone is the most horrendous and terrifying fate imaginable.
The fact that they showed Wendy slapping the pixie dust out of Peter was super gross since its supposed to show her being so girlboss and proud. Like how does slapping someone make you strong and a rolemodel, especially to kids?
As a feminist, I believe there are limits to what you can do with it. I hate when a woman slaps a man when a man can't slap a woman.
@Spacetrooper That's because there's only a certain kind that's spread around the internet. These days a lot of women want supremacy over the men who had/still try to take supremacy, and a lot of us have strayed away from what feminism really is. It's the ones who take it too far that make feminism look like a joke when it wasn't in the first place.
@c. line official calling yourself a feminist is not a positive thing. If you knew what they actually believe and has always believed, you'll know that they are a horrible group.
You should just call yourself a humanitarian or humanist if you care about people.
@Spacetrooper or any time period, the first wave was just as bad, and they were also extremely racist, they were just as much if not worse than the kkk. They were actually more privileged than the kkk since they didn't have to cover their faces to protect their reputation and identity. They were protected by society for being women.
@The Censored Muscle feminism is the equality of both genders. I get that it started out as racist and still exclusive because of it having been invented in the mid-1800's and it's way more inclusive now, but it was never meant to be a supremacist group, just fighting for equality.
You are entitled to your opinion in the end though.
"It's a kid's movie" is such a stupid argument. Do children not have eyes, ears, and brains? A film for children should be held to an even higher standard than an adult's because they're so much more malleable. All the bullshit in this movie will be seared into their tiny minds and they will grow up to produce even worse movies.
Yeah and shouldn't kids movies not be just loosely plotted propaganda pieces made to push agendas?
@@Dilaudid281 not at all! they can absolutely push *Better Agendas* ❤lol except.....they ain't got any 🤣
Children need to be taught morals, consequences, and how to be a good person. Not how to be stupid.
See that argument doesn't work when you realize that there are kid's movies that stand the test of time and even adults can enjoy them. Case in point, this movies counterpoint: Hook. A movie that also takes it's liberties with the Peter Pan mythos (actually moreso than this movie does in certain respects). A movie that has a diverse cast. A movie that also gives depth to Hook and Smee and the Lost Boys (and succeeds masterfully). Think of the best of Pixar, or the classic or renaissance Disney movies. Same thing. That argument annoys the hell out of me because it's just such a cop out.
Even when I was little, I could tell when my intelligence and gender were being insulted. Two is a coincidence, and three is a pattern, so what does one call a dozen? I must have read a dozen stories or more when I was little and learning to read where the girl was always smart, strong, and brave, and the boy was stupid, weak, and cowardly.
Man Disney is just going to kill every classic Disney movie huh?
@@cactusmalone yep. Even my brother who's never really seen Star Wars has admitted that he really didn't like The Last Jedi
Yes
They are only considered classics because Disney told us they were.
yes, because Bob Iger doesn't believe in taking risks on anything new and even remotely original.
Nah they're classic stories but Disney wants to replace them with their new agenda. Just don't watch the new ones at all. Vote with your wallet and they'll soon get the message. Honestly can't wait to see how much the little mermaid flops and compare the critic reviews to the normal reviews. Always a fun experiment whenever they release trash.
The most WTF moment had to be when Wendy was able to fly, looked Captain Hook in the eye, then said, "It's Wendyin' time."
Lmfao😂😂😂
That snarky aggressive " so " speaks volumes . Blows my mind the kind of writers disney is hiring, all the characters are insufferable, annoying unlikable and narcissistic.
I loved the part when Peter yelled at Hook saying “You were supposed to destroy the sith not join them”
🤣
fantastic
And Wendy was Rey
Hook: YOU UNDERESTIMATE MY POWER. I HATE YOU!!
“You were my brother Hook, I loved you”
I've said it so many times that diversity and inclusion was always a thing. At least, since I've been alive and I'm almost 40 years old. There's been women in leading roles and strong women, LGBT roles and non white leads. So many movies and shows had this. So many did it correctly.
They don't want what they say. They want division, anger and conflict. Just like the media. Just like the government.
Sadly, these films are written by narcissists with an axe to grind but no stories to tell.
As a woman I'm tired of these words. Wtf does inclusive and diverse mean? Movies have always had these. They mean agenda. Make it stop.
Marxism. Divide the population, then control and manipulate each group with ease.
Nailed it at the last part. People with troubled life can come up with all kinds of excuses to be angry.
It has always been a thing but yea now it is done at the expense of white men so it is mired in hatred which is why it is so obnoxious and souless. You actuwlly rooted for Ripley and Mulan, not these wallies.
The original Wendy was mature, kind, and loving. She never blamed her brothers for her faults, she never abandoned the Lost Boys and acted like a motherly figure despite their aggressive ways of playing and their stupid antics, and she loved Peter Pan despite their different views about growing up and growing old.
They don't need to destroy Wendy to show that she's powerful, because she already was. Everyone loved and respected her and all the boys, including Peter, only listened to her.
The reason why she hated growing up was because of her father. He was always angry and serious and Wendy didn't want to be that kind of adult.
Can't we all just agree modern Disney isn't the Disney we know anymore. All a bunch of hacks and filled with woke activists.
@@Godpk11yes
it's weird how sometimes overcompensation can lead a character right back to the same place
In this case it would be Tiger Lily.... who, despite being the ultimate girlboss, is still a complete non-character and exists only to get the writers out of the repeated corners they kept writing themselves in to. She's still just a stereotyped plot device...
Magic herbs that ressed peter faster than God ressed Jebus
But to be a plot device she'd need to be involved in the plot- wth was she there for?? The lost boys could function on their own, wendy, well wendy was a nightmare on her own and peter was everywhere but interacting with her, so really she was just there to say they had the native American girl there
They didn't just take Captain hook's charisma they took his gorgeous raven locks too
It's such an iconic look now he's grey like the rest of this movie so he blends in perfectly
Right??!
And yet he was the best part of the movie...
@Eevee Of All Trades really says a lot about the film
@@eeveeofalltrades4780 of course he was , it's Jude Law
Why are Disney so obsessed with force feeding us dull female characters by negatively changing Disney, Star Wars, Marvel characters that happens to be male. If they could just make a good story, instead of focusing on bad ass female characters, then we would appreciate these characters better.
In the comics they made a black little girl the smartest person on the planet. Out of no where. For no reason.
Replacing Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic.
You know why they are doing it. Because they hate their audience like every other woke company
they think "most people" are emotional, short-sighted mouth breathers ❤
Because the writers don't know how to make a good story. All they can do is appeal to brand recognition and memberberries.
@@ababcb3005 It’s cause they are woke.
Me too movement.. they are over compensating for that
Hook was amazing. God, we had no clue how good we had it in the 90s
At least the captain was appealing without being an ex something and an 'antihero'
Just because this movie blows donkeys doesn't make Hook somehow great. They both suck for different reasons (and yes, i grew up in the 90's and saw Hook in theaters when released, just always thought it was crap)
I think the reveal that her real name was Wendy Skywalker was the best bit of the film.
Lol
*Palpatine
I don't understand Disney's obsession with making the classic movie villains sympathetic.
hipsters
Unironically because they themselves are evil, and thus want to see evil characters in a softer, more sympathetic light.
@@om3ga109 Lmao 😜
It's because they want to push the idea that evil doesn't really exist, because that would be "scary" to kids.
Because they want to remove the distinction between good and evil. This paves the way for All kinds of degenerate behavior.
My favorite part was when Wendy stuck out her hand and said to Peter "come with me if you want to live", so strong, so empowered, I openly wept.
Would she really stick her hand out towards this Peter? Apparently, he's got some odd fetish about hands and crocodiles. Best keep your hands to yourself when he's swinging that sword around.
LMFAO 😂
I recommend watching Peter Pan (2003) and the deleted scene where Peter goes back for Wendy only to find out she's married and has a daughter. Their exchange is well acted and older Wendy looked like young Wendy. If this adaptation came out instead of Disney's, it would have been better received.
That scene is seared into my mind, but I still haven't seen the movie since I was a kid lol
The 2003 version is my favorite Peter Pan movie. I really love how the adults noticed that Wendy was becoming a woman. She had a great character arc in that version.
That was my absolute favorite movie as a kid and still my favorite live action version of peter pan.
In the original book, Pan promises to return every year and bring Wendy on an adventure. And he does once or twice, but forgets. Like in your deleted scene, it's not a great surprise to Wendy because it's in his nature. He returns in the book too, and find Wendy's daughter Jenny and likewise takes her on an adventure. And again year after year until he forgets again. But Jenny knows that when she grows and has a child, he may return again. And so it becomes a kind of legacy, and a redemption for Pan. Instead of kidnapping and keeping strange children away from their lives, he only takes a series of willing ones who are waiting for him and happy to see him...
In Hook, Peter arrives back to Wendy's bedroom every year only to find out that she has grown old... shit hits me in the feels every time, man.
In most iterations of Peter Pan (including the FAR superior 2003 live action remake), Mr. Darling and Hook are usually played by the same actor. It’s supposed to show two different paths to adulthood. The one Wendy sees and the one Peter’s afraid of turning into. They absolutely obliterate every. single. theme in this remake. It’s abysmal.
The 2003 one was awesome, and it did a good job of keeping Hook and Peter’s charisma intact while having Wendy be a slightly more feisty character. I miss movies where the guy and girl could work together without overshadowing each other.
That’s funny because we all wanted to be Rufio back in the day, and the fact that he didn’t look like me or my friends never even crossed our minds. It sucks now that kids are told they have to look like their heroes. I’ve read thousands of books and my favorite protagonist of all time is Lisbeth Salander. We have absolutely nothing in common but I’ve always admired how smart she was and how she didn’t have any fucks to give.
I’m surprised the writers are brave enough to put their names in the credits.
Underrated comment 😂
I love how disney had Tiger-Lilly, who could ACTUALLY be a great badass female character, and yet they throw her aside 💀💀
No... they utterly GIRLBOSSED her up in this. Now SHE is the leader of the Lost Boys, not Peter. Now SHE has the power to literally raise the dead because she's a 'wise medicine woman' and not because of any magick. Now SHE raids the pirate ship to rescue Peter instead of Peter rescuing her. She is so perfect that she's completely uninteresting. She has no flaws, no character, and there's no question she'll succeed at everything. She's central to what happens, but more of a plot device than a person.
@@HerculesBallsInc Oh yea I forgot about the lost “boys” leader bit
The line “look at how they massacred my boy” would be an understatement and disney would find it offensive because I said boy
“The live action remake of Peter Pan and Wendy is a sack of doggy dooky” why the hell you say it like that I spit out my orange juice😭
That sentence should be changed to "THIS live action remake of Peter Pan and Wendy is a sack of doggy dooky", as the 2003 live-action version by Universal was the exact opposite.
Considering the video is about the current remake, I think it’s well enough implied.
It’s truly one of the worst versions of Peter Pan ever constructed.
truly the movie of all time
@@imded4014 A movie that exists
One of? You can honestly say that it is the worst.
The way he's presented,
He's more of a Jerk and evil than a lot of classic disney villains
Even some Marvel villains
I love that Disney took the liberty of casting the Rock as Wendy. Truly changes things up by having a more diverse cast👌👌
Don't you find it sad that Wendy's happy thoughts about growing up are only the ''feminist'' possibilities? Finishing school, flying a plane (probably in a war, what the fuck Wendy?), being a writer, and then dying alone. She doesn't think about starting a family. Hell, she doesn't even think about spending time with her brothers who apparently were the reason why she did a 180 about growing up in the first place! Because she has to be mature and take care of them while they're alone!
Seems like this Wendy is perfect for the target audience of She-hulk.
You're absolutely right to put "feminist" in inverted commas. There is nothing of the actual tenets of feminism in this travesty. Wendy was always a caring, motherly figure whose nature was celebrated without her being "only" a girl and this change - these many changes - ruin that without making anything else better. Only worse. What a wasted yet typical "modern-audience" opportunity.
@@Nyctophora Modern feminism thinks femininity is a weakness in a woman. Most female characters who are supposed to be icons of modern feminism are portraying all the behaviors of ''toxic masculinity'' but because they're female it's okay. Also, no matter what men do they will always be bad and useless. The well has been poisoned that most women don't want to be associated with feminists, at least modern ones. There are still problems women face: arranged marriages including child brides, recently in some Islamic country women weren't allowed to go to college and they protested, etc. But those ''feminists'' would rather complain that a female character in a video game or a cartoon is ''unrealistic'' because she's attractive and has cartoon proportions. No normal person takes them seriously.
good. children are awful. like seriuolsy.all they do is shit everywhere
The movie all about childhood growing up and motherhood subverted to where Wendy's future dreams(not a happy memory btw) is dying alone after girl bossing herself through a writing career and this is treated as a good thing.
everyone dies alone. expect suice bombers. they die with other people
@@TheWeepingDalek Someone here is a little twisted.
It's like Wendy got infected by the Mary Sue syndrome.
It's a virus running rampant in certain circles.
They missed so many points of the original story;
* Peter was a fun, energetic, cocky character because as a child everything is magical, exciting and you feel immortal
* Wendy was sympathetic everything because she wanted to cling to the simplicity of childhood but knew she had to grow up as its a natural part of life, her dad was her sadness as she could see how adulthood has hidden his childhood fun
* Hook and Mr Darling are played by the same actor as a symbol of adulthood and his children see growing up as a fun sucker and therefore the bad guy
* Tinkerbell is tiny so she feels one emotion at a time, children can only process one emotion at a time because they are young
* Wendy was calm, thoughtfully and mature, enjoying one last romp of childhood before choosing to grow - not nasty, spiteful and hateful
* Peter was the hero because he chose that role, Wendy allowed it because she could let go and release from being the oldest, the grown up
* The lost boys are boys because they fell out of their prams and girls are too smart for that
* Tiger Lily, the pirates, mermaids etc were simply a part of Peter's imagination from of that era...they didn't need a further part than the fleeting bits that had as they were just fantasy and play
* John and Michael were there to remind Wendy of family
* Peter was a tragic, romantic figure who couldn't grow up (theory is he's dead) but he longed for a future and to see a different adventure but feared it too and therefore he got left behind - it was also to endear girls to the book, boys wanted to be him, girls wanted to save him
This is bad in so many ways, bad script, bad landscaping, bad plot, bad casting, bad acting it's bleurgh overall
Peter Pan 2003 is boss!
At 12:20, the "Oh, there you are, Peter!" clip brought back so much nostalgia just now. I wasn't a very emotional kid, but I remember balling my eyes out at that scene. What a brilliant movie....God. to make something like that again is like actual magic these days... great breakdown.
You address a lot of good points here, especially with how they have watered down the overall meaning of Peter Pan and it's characters.
Such a missed opportunity with Jude Law as Hook. That bugs me the most out of this remake.
Would like to hear more of your insight on Wendy's character in a future stream 😉
Thank you for that MASSIVE shoutout bro!!!! 🙌
You forgot 3 of the best parts. 1. Wendy slaps Peter. 2. The Lost Boys are supposed to be boys because "Girls are much too smart" to become lost. Disney didn't even realize that them being boys would _help_ their message. That's how competent the writers are.
And best of all, Wendy envisions her happiest future. One where she dies alone. No family, no friends even. Alone and pathetic. That's her literal dream of her future.
The director thinks his audience are idiots. When asked why doesn’t Tinkerbell glow, he said “in a live-action context, a viewer would be uncertain of where the light originates” so insulting the director clearly had never seen Hook or 2003 Peter Pan.
I didn't want to be that person but the implication seems to be that cause her skin is brown it makes no sense for it to glow?? I mean tink glowing was never a scientific question, she's magic she just does, but now she can't glow despite them showing her glowing at times...when you can't see the actress. The white actresses glowed in the og and 2003 and Julia Roberts in Hook didn't really glow but that fit the aesthetic of the film and its take on her character because she was a more mature tink 🤔🤨 gah, I hate when films raceswap with black actors but then refuse to give them appropriate lighting. Tink looked like an overgrown mutated fly who got caught in a dust storm
@@mirimarina6387It's okay to be that person. That's why they did it. Same reason for the Little Mermaid

3:32 Better drained of all charisma than drained of all melanin - am I right, Disney?
As soon as I saw: "...and Wendy" I new it wasn't going to be about Peter Pan. I mean, they did it to Obi-wan Kenobi and Reeva wasn't even on the title.
Just watched the animated movie again. My favorite parts are when nana the dog nurse is featured, and when hook is skipping across the water and his scream skips along with him. This live action remake has none of that kind of charm. It’s just…content.
In the original Disney animated movie Peter Pan did cut hooks hand off and fed it to the crocodile. Some versions say the reason is unknown while others say it was a dare from the lost boys.
I hope no one over looks the 2003 universal film which was amazing
I agree! The 2003 movie was really good! 😊
I think we can all appreciate Hook so much more now.

Looks a masterpiece in comparison
your info being available online has always been a issue. I seen it back in 2012..... seeing old addresses, alias, and full names.... pretty creepy. Yet the govt doesnt wanna do anything about that.
btw ppl that use "its a kids movie" exactly so why do you need to insert political agendas and specific narratives in a kids film.
Truth
Removing the animosity between tinkerbell and Wendy is hilarious. Those two both have feelings for Peter. No F'ing way they'd be friends.
Hook is great but don't forget the 2003 Peter pan film! It was an excellent adaptation of the source material.
I think maybe they could've done the "Hook as a former Lost Boy" angle by I dunno, having Hook and Peter have a big fight over Hook missing his mom and Hook leaving after and Peter thinking Hook had left but was actually lost at sea long enough to go mad and then be found by pirates. Returned to Neverland as a crazy old man that Peter was unable to recognize as his old friend. Hook in his crazed state attacks Peter, which leaves to Peter chopping off Hook's hand in self-defense. So the reveal of Hook as a former Lost Boy could've then been a plot twist and character moment for Peter or something. At least, that's how I would've done that plot point.
every live action disney movie is filmed in the tower of babel

They know exactly how people are going to respond and they do it to irate people. Maybe because they get people talking about it.
Seriously, are they laundering money with these movies? Because the only other companies I know that do crap like this are studios like Asylum or whoever made movies like Sharknado and Velocipastor.
Maybe they do it in the hopes that more people will hate watch it and it saves the money from having to actually put an effort.
The idiotic fail in their logic is that people will not want to spend money on it.
Oh, they'll watch it... but they ain't paying for it.
Every live action remake after The Jungle Book just has a huge lighting problem looking so dull, lifeless with poor acting/CGI, it's appealing to nobody just exist to capitalize on nostalgia blind Disney simps

I like the 2003 live action version. It is really good. I remember loving it when it came out. I thought it was one of the coolest movies to come out that year. It has charm, charisma, compassion, twists, and excellent character arcs. This modern version is bullshit.
I honestly had huge dejavu for a solid few minutes because I thought I watched this as a kid,
I was thinking of the 2003 version, which I also remember enjoying quite a lot.
I just can't believe that someone thought that it is a good idea to make a protagonist of a story about children and the need of growing up actually hate the damn children nor want any and dream of dying alone. Like WTF is wrong with a person wanting to project that kind of a message through an allegedly kids' movie and actually thinking of showing such attitude to children?
The 2003 Peter Pan is so much better!
No mention of her happy thoughts being a writer who grows old and dies alone with no family?
Why do you all throw a tantrum bc of it? Not everyone dies having a family and not everyone is happy with their spouse.

So anyone going to point how Disney is so diverse that they removed talking female characters (Mermaids) from the film (I know they appear as an Easter egg but the OG has them as actual characters) and Tiger lily's entire family and friends? Ahuh... I don't know Disney sounds like the opposite to me. Yeah the Og might have its fault with their character design but the characters themselves weren't depicted as savages like other films of that time did. In fact aren't they shown to be rather friendly with the lost boys and playing games with them? Also it's funny how the original animated film on a moral basis has quite a lot better sinister moments scattered throughout whereas Disney's version of sinister is to just tone down the lighting till neverland looks about as normal as my back garden. FFS An animated film from the 50's is kicking Disney's ass in the visual department? Also I think the crocodile from the OG has more charisma than Peter pan does in this one. Also is there no Hook screaming for Mr Smee? That's some of my favourite voice acting in a Disney animated film. Watching Hook vs the crocodile was so much fun as a kid. I can't believe this might be version of Peter pan that a lot of children grow up on.
Remember in Hook how the Lost Boys were very diverse, and nobody cared because they were actual characters who had distinct personalities? Despite there being a large number of them and the limited time they all got on screen they were able to give the boys distinctive personalities. I defy you to watch Peter's scenes with the boys when they realize it's him or the scene where Rufio dies, or when he put Thud in charge and not cry. Also, the scene where they're all putting on their armor and preparing for war is a true boss moment. At that point there's not even any words, just the coming war. Also, why is this movie so poorly lit and colored? Seriously, the color pallette looks they let Zack Snyder pick their coloring and make a lot of cinematography choices. Actually, do we know who directed this? Do we know what Zack Snyder is doing? Because he missed the point with Batman and Superman, I could easily see him missing the point with Peter Pan and Wendy. Anyways, great work as always sir, keep up the good fight. Also, I like the haircut, you look like a classier American version of Disparu (just teasing).
WHAAAaaaaaat?? Rufio DIES??? Thanks for that spoiler! (jk)
You know what did this formula right? Dr. Stone. That story is essentially a fantasy adventure with a wide variety of characters, male or female. None are put down or elevated. They can all carry themselves, or even show emotion. The tone is mostly comedy, but there's serious moments too. And the show knows how to handle it. Even in a mostly real world, there's color and beauty to be found. It's not dreary or depressing, even though the subject matter ought to be. To sum it up, there's a difference between a real writer and a person who writes corporate rubbish which is meant to brainwash youth.
I cry like a baby everytime I watch hook. But the stage play with Mary Martin is easily the best peter pan iteration ever.
2015's Pan is like The Dark Knight compared to this shit
im racist and sexist so the only way ill ever know about these movies is from content creators. appreciate the work mate
Bruh thats not "sigma" or shit this is just dumbness, the remake and forced inclusion in movies are shit, but being racist and sexist is pretty shitty bro

I watched the movie because I got a free guest account. Had to get drunk to suffer it.

Wendy: Girl boss spinster
Peter: Mexican soyboy
Tinkerbell: raceswap pixie dust dispenser
Captain Hook: How has he not been executed by his crew?
I'm glad I left the abusive Disney relationship long ago.
I just rewatched Hook instead of this movie and didn’t bother. Good stuff.
"I'm just kidding she's not a f*@king idiot" 😭😭😭you really had me
I like the bit when peter says "its panning time!" Then preceeds to Pan Hook everywhere
"Hook" is a PHENOMENAL movie and it will absolutely be the superior version of Peter Pan until we get a true adaptation of the story. Disney did well in the '50s, but it was definitely a product of its times and children's movie format. I'd personally love to see the story brought to life one more time with a significant degree of what made "Hook" so timeless.
Hook is a classic
So much potential
Dude i love hook.
I didn't even remember til this controversy came up about this remake that Rufio was an ASIAN kid. He was like cool as fuck. That was back when diversity was good it didn't feel forced it felt like these kids still tried out and they picked some great actors for the roles
Hoffman is the best Hook in my book
Peter Pan 2003 is the true adaption film. Hook is good, it’s just drenched in nostalgia.
Surely Disney must be doing this by purpose at this point. They must see all the backlash and discourse they get from fans, and just seem to be doubling down and ignoring it, even though they are losing money and subscribers. Loved the happy Gilmore reference though 😅
Wendy is a classic Colonizer: she arrives in a strange, isolated land, selects a local faction, helps it destroy a long-term rival faction, supports one indigenous leader against another, destroys the place and f*cks-off back to England to a grand life.
This new movie makes the 2003 Peter Pan look like an absolute masterpiece.
The actress who played wendy would never have been in this movie if her parents weren't Mila Jovovich and Paul WS Anderson. Not even bad acting can stop nepo babies 😂
I'm so tired of motherhood being portrayed as a bad thing. As if the moment you become a mother, your life is over. As if motherhood is a prison instead of the wonderful, fulfilling thing that it is for the vast majority of women.
Motherhood is the most important thing a woman can do. Raising the next generation so our species can carry on. That it has been twisted into something that hurts women is a travesty, and I hate that our entertainment elites continue to push that message.
I don’t agree with you, motherhood is not the most important thing a woman can do (I don’t think there’s an specific thing, all women aspire different thing in life), but it certainly shouldn’t be portrayed the way modern media does, so many women are happy to be mothers, and there’s nothing submissive or wrong about that.
@@cl13913 I don't see what could possibly be more important than birthing and raising the next generation of our species. But we can agree to disagree.
the fact the this species sucks and literally every other species is better. like I mean cows never dropped an a bomb on anyone. neither have meerkats. only 1 species has ever dropped the A bomb and it's man. earth would be better off without us. kill all humans. give the planet to the animals
Yeah, who wants to create life and raise it to be good, happy, and healthy? Clearly that's just an awful thing for a person to do.

You know a movie sucks when it manages to make Jude Law as charismatic as Tommy Wiseau.
Poor kids, their careers never had a chance. SMH
Both parents of the girl is in the industry so she might be fine.
Peter Pansexual.
To quote the original 1953 movie, "All this has happened before, and it will all happen again."
💯💯💯. History sucks and repeats itself but it often rhymes
Disney is not making movies that are more realistic, non problem magic etc. they’re actively still making a more fictional and problematic because as you said, Peter is a gaslighting ass who actively ruined the life of his friends and let me add stalked wendy, and then they removed a lot of the conflict like tinker bell and Wendy which was a fun, realistic part as Wendy and seemingly tinker being young would make sense to have conflicts over boys as that is a normal thing.
I usually can sympathize with villains from various ways, mostly based edgy, but I believe the balance happens if I support both sides if I care for them, I'm always willing to let monsters pass by if they have anything I like, but the modern stories makes everyone equally bad
Remember in that other Disney piece of shit "Raya" they also say "Remind me never to have kids." The anti-family company.
Yeah, and stupid Akwafina had to ruin poor Sisu...
And Scuttle too. 🙄😭
And really, if they're doing family movies at all, it's just gonna be packed with trauma and abuse, ' Encanto ' is just ' Snow White ', ' Cinderella ', ' The Little Mermaid ', ' Aladdin ', ' Pocahontas ', ' Tangled ', ' Brave ', ' Moana ', nothing new.
Who controls most of Hollywood. It's a Country that begins with a C and ends in an A and has five letters.
I love Hook...
So much I sometimes forget its not the original story.
Its by no means perfect but its just so much fun and the acting is just great.
When Julia Roberts is the weakest performance, thats a pretty high bar.
Dustin Hoffman and Bob Hoskin as Hook and Smee are just fakking flawless.
My day always gets better when I see cynic releases a new vid ♥️

And like hippies, the wokies are really the most vile people imaginable.
If they're going to change this much of the story and characters, wouldn't it just be easier to write an entirety new film?
I don't understand. Isn't disney supposed to be a business? Aren't they supposed to like money? Why do they intentionally sabotage their films?
If you want a phenomenal Peter Pan story where the relationship between Hook and Peter is actually well done and the story actively leans into Peter being a complete psycho, I can highly reccomend the book "Lost Boy" by Christina Henry.
6:57 Meet the new girl boss - same as the old girl boss!
I’ve heard the original Peter Pan story has Peter as the villain. He kidnapped children and killed them when they reached a certain age. Hook was trying to save them. The original Disney movie changed the story.
They won't stop until they drill the message into everyone's skull with a 1 and 3/8s drill bit. Ironically this gets closer to the group Walt Disney himself supported... interesting
I’ve adored Peter Pan since I was little. It was my favorite Disney Movie (I’ve seen it at least 100 times), I read the actual book when I was 16, and I loved the 2003 movie because it stayed true to the book and the animated film.
I didn’t like Hook because of how far it strayed from the source material….and I don’t even want to watch this new movie. Why?! Why did they destroy the characters and the plot SO MUCH?! 😩
The part where Peter says, "It's Panin time," and throws on his spider suit to face hook was incredible 😢
