      The scene with Wendy reminiscing about her past when her parents paid attention to her is so wrong, I always thought that her innocence and naive imagination thinking about mermaids and all that was what led her to be able to fly to Neverland, since that is what kids do, something childish and silly, letting their imagination run wild, instead she takes the exact opposite direction of acting like a depressed 40yo reminiscing about the good old times, an extremely mature thing to do totally contrary to 'i don't want to grow up' and Neverland.. this is absolutely blimey terrible. Also i love the fact that a 12yo Wendy is allowed to use makeup. Also also, isn't it kinda racist that they replaced the ginger kid or that they don't give any lines to the diverse Tinkerbell or that they entirely removed all the natives scenes or that they made Tiger Lily a stereotypical action packing wild savage that knows her way around plants and herbs or how there's basically no love interest towards the new diverse peter pan which was like the second major plot of the original? I swear.. Oh yea, i'm so sick and tired of all this 'oh, we have to remove the stereotypical portrayal of the natives', sure there was a cartoonish exaggeration but isn't it 'culture' they call stereotypical? Natives dancing and smoking chanupa is stereotypical but african dances and Bollywood choreographies are ok!?

      For what it's worth, everyone is different and some people are lucky enough to enjoy spending life alone. Those people are usually ones who aren't cursed with having a toxic "family" who treats them like crap and have no support system and are ostracized by everyone. Those who have no choice of being alone (or being forced to be with someone you feel nothing for) don't often find happiness there. Anyway, some people do prefer being alone and there's nothing wrong with that since you can't help or choose what makes you happy (you can lie and say you do, but if you have to tell yourself something makes you happy, it isn't genuine). However, I don't see Wendy being one of those people.

      The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him.

    My kids, 10 and 12, did not make it to halfway.I think you are right. There is a commonality with new Disney material that everything is dictated by a certain group of writers. • @pascaleelliott63
    @pascaleelliott63 Рік тому +363

    Wendy in the original was lady-like, but she was also affectionate, considerate, compassionate, intelligent and wellspoken, and honestly quite mature for her age despite being a child.
    She was quite motherly in personality, all while still having the curiosity and wonder of a child, seeing as she is one. But the motherly side of her really worked in helping the lost boys realise that everyone (at some point or growing up) needs a loving mother (or a loving parent there for them). Heck, even the pirates over-hearing her song about what a mother is got all emotional, like they too felt the same way.
    Wendy in this version is just an angry bitch-boss who thinks that being feminist is a personality. Also, just cos you have to write your (male) characters to look bad/week/helpless/useless in order to make other (female) characters look better, doesn't make the (female) characters better. Having a (female) character be strong and capable, should not be at the expense of the other (male) characters around.
    At this point, Disney and its writers are just doing everything in their power to make live action remakes infinitely worse than the classics.

    • @felicity1877
      @felicity1877 Рік тому +5

      Very well said, though such updates aren't only Disney's fault - there had been even succesful Peter Pan theater performances recently with an even huger female empowerment topic. And there had been also similarly updates with Alice in Wonderland, or Snow White. It's rather the problem that Disney is mixing it up with the original animated classics and not entirely new attempt. Though, I feel such a live action less worse than the way in the Duck Tales reboot also the sweet motherly characters were changed into badass ones....it's so sticking around everywhere. Nevertheless, Disney live action movies feel rather like only promotion for selected newcomer stars ....making sure that everyone knows these people, whether they are loved or hated...

      @pascaleelliott63 Рік тому +5

      @@felicity1877 I agree yes, and you're right about the movies promoting new actors, kid or grown-up. But the only people I recall having more roles was the one who played Cinderella, the one who played Jasmine (who was already acting in movies years before Aladin), and... that's it. Like I haven't seen any of the main character actors in any other work after their live action remakes.

      Excellent point. It was actually celebrating a mothers love for their children. Making a point, how powerful for a persons whole life their mother is. And this is not what new Disney wants to celebrate. Wendy in their opinion should not be motherly and women that love being mothers are wrong. We should all love our careers more , in their opinion and they don’t want to show young kids how powerful being a mother is. And that is truly sad.
      There are literal books out there, demanding that it will become illegal, to stay ho e with your kids. Personally I’ll e my job but I also enjoy staying home with my new baby for a year or two, since the time goes by so fast. These days they don’t want women to have a choice, they want just one choice. And therefore they don’t want media to show kids that being a parent is powerful and has huge impact. If we all raise our kids ourselves, at least mostly, they have less power over all of us and can’t shape our kids into whatever.

It's so pretentious and forced what they're doing by removing tons of established Caucasian characters from famous stories just to replace them with "people of colour", even if it contradicts the source material or time period it's set in. I continue my quest to collect the best of the "I Loved The Part Where..." Memes.
      If you have any additions, know that your contribution may be added to the unfolding saga.
      I love the part where the Marvels all yelled 'when our powers combine, you become Captain Planet!' and then Don Cheadle used his green mullet to turn everyone into trees. Then Galadriel Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way Targaryen (GEDDRWT) faced off against the german-orcs, "We have the mightiest armies in all of middle earth! What do you have that could defeat us?" Incelron just cracked his neck and said, "Magic, Mutherf*cker." Then Frodo said, "Crap. we're gonna need a bigger ring." so Gandalf told the Ents "run forrest run!" Then Don Lemonlas said, "We Haz RANGS!" while wearing T-shirt that read, "Ask Me About My Translucent Agenda." Then all the N*zis got blown up when the Gay Engola dropped two nukes: Body-Positive Man and Little Transboy.
      While the part where chewspocka transitioned during his witcher training was inspiring, true and real, I was in tears when he said, "It's witching time." I also believe that the part where Lenny Henry's performance as a literal cell phone ringing in every scene was a meta commentary about how modern entertainment is simply watch the fuckin' show you bigot, and so was yet another Oscar worthy performance and we should give more reparations to black people. Specifically I want to watch him have sex with my wife from the closet.
      I want to watch from the closet. My wife isn't from the closet. Although if she came out of the closet, that'd be fun to watch as well. My wife isn't a 12 year old boy I have tied up in the closet. I certainly don't make him scream "I've A Tempest In Me!" while I sodomize him. You can't prove anything. #EpsteinDidNothingWrong
      My favorite part was when Tinkerbell literally thanked Wendy for saving everyone, fixing everything, telling all the problematic persons what they should do, and being literally the only one who truly listens to the oppressed minorities of the world and actually cares about them, then gets declared the grand high UberKaren and rules the world. Then Wendy turned into Will Smith, slapped the living Chris Rock out of Peter, and yelled: "KEEP MY BROTHERS' NAMES OUT YOUR F**KING MOUTH!!"
      All Game of Thrones scholars agree that the scene where Rhaenyra whispers in Celeborn's ear “I hate pee on the toilet seat when I go to use it.” and then disconnects the machine that keeps him alive, perfectly delivered George JRR Martin's message of hope and healing for all wahmankind. Then Galadriel jumped into the ocean with Dory and started singing, "Just keep swimming."
      I have to admit, I did not like the part where the authot race swapped the ents. Ents are clearly White Birch, but those ents were OAK. Remember, Arboreal Pollen is Tree ejaculation, so the Ent orgy counts as interracial and should have the appropriate tags. Although they redeemed themselves when Scott Bakula quantum leaped into T(reebeard)'Challa. I was taken off guard when GEDDRWT and Rey Palpatine arrived in Wakanda to fookin scissor, and a white man said "we don't do that in here" and Rey replied, "are you Shuri about that?"
      My favorate part would have to be when Gandalf said, "Did you ever hear the tragedy of Morgoth? I thought not. It's not a story the Valar would tell you. It's a Maiar legend. Melkor was a Dark Lord, so powerful and so wise he could use the Silmarils to influence the Great Music to create life... He had such a knowledge of the unseen world that he could even keep the ones he cared about from losing their Facebook accounts if they posted the N-word. The dark side of the unseen world is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice became the Dark Lord Incelron. Ironic, he could save others from living in their parent's basement, but not himself."
      Where upon a stoned Captain Marvel said, "Dude, where's my precious?"
      I loved the ending where Ursula said “Ahh, so you think darkness is your ally? But you merely adopted the dark; I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see the light until I was already an octopus, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!” Then She-Hulk said, "You either die a Hero or live long enough to see yourself become the Crustacean." And then Halbrand said, "YEW TUKE ARR JERBS!" and Kicked a Harfoot into a well while shouting, "THIS. IS. NUMENOR." But Then Ursula Replied, "I am INEVITABLE!!!" only for Ariel to impale her with the boat while saying, "And I am all the Jedi! ... On a Boat."
      As Ursula died she croaked, "The Sea... Is always... Right..."
      Then perked up, "And the sea shops exclusively at Amazon. Use The 'IAmAllTheJedi' code to get a ten percent discount on all your Amazon purchased items for one order." THEN she finally died.
      I laughed, I cried, I kissed 18 bucks goodbye.
      10/10 Would edge to it again.
      Much Stunning. Much Bravery.

      The only thing may be a bit too much obvious CG, I don't h*te CGI, I model and animate myself but it doesn't work for fantasy a lot of the time, in this case I would have prefered a more hands on 80s approach like in The Adventures of Baron Münchhausen or Time Bandits. With this comparissions it may have also felt a bit more British. That's just nitpicking and wishful thinking, since I like this version a lot, this would have been the cherry on top.

    Jason Isaacs was a wonderful Captain Hook. Peter was kind of a jerk in the book too, but that was only to emphasize that Wendy was no longer fooled by a childish idea of heroism and as she matured, her ideas of an ideal future and ideal partner were maturing too. In the book, he is rude and has a terrible memory because he is permanently trapped in the present. This represented both his eternal childhood, and how J.M. Barrie’s deceased brother would always be an idealized child in his mothers eyes. Jason Isaacs Hook tells Peter that he is a tragedy and if you have read Barrie’s original book along with The Little White Bird he is absolutely spot on.

      The author originally wanted to cast Hook with the actress playing Wendy's mom. This was the contrast that was presented to Wendy in her mind: an eternal childhood which was losing its fancy, and a parenthood which can often seem monstrous and inexplicable to children. And in the end Wendy rather threads the needle (as many do), choosing the caring which excuses what parents do... and explaining that to the others makes them all want to join her.
      If, instead, you turn Wendy into a GIRLBOSS who is happy to dunk anyone who gets in her way and not needing anyone, the entire original subtext just vanishes.

Fanatic cast, beautifully filmed, spectacular color and art direction, sweet humor and stunning musical score. Needless to say, Hook who also was flawlessly played by a pivotal Harry Potter villain is superb. Neverland in this latest effort looks dismal, bleak, and more like the Irish moors suitable for an American Werewolf.
