  • How to Catch Trout on Hard Baits with Underwater Footage Striking at the Dynamic Lures HD TROUT and J-Spec lures without hooks trolled behind a GoFish Camera. See how trout react when they see different baits thrown at them. We'll get to see trout biting, spitting out and striking a natural pattern smaller bait and a larger brighter colored hard bait.

I hope you enjoy this underwater footage. It was recorded over several days on the same body of water. A couple of the days were more overcast while the last was a bright sunny day. The bait was trolled behind the GoFish Camera which does not have very great battery life. So it is hard to capture footage on the same day since the refractory charging period interrupts fishing.
I created a plastic fin to put on the camera so it would troll better to give a more consistent view of the trout and lure. It was easily made with some clear hard plastic from a plastic jug or packaging. Just needs a little fine tuning to get it right. You can tell depending on how you place the fin the camera either rides upside down or right side up. I should have disabled the GoFish Icon and then you wouldn't be able to tell. Oh well, live and learn.
I used about 2 to 4 feet of leader behind the camera. Trolling was done in my canoe with a 30 pound thrust trolling motor at the lowest speed.

Getting the lure on camera, and getting a strike to happen was a challenge that is so rewarding to watch. Not only because it's entertaining, but because it's useful information for any fisherman. I have learned a lot from looking at the underwater footage, and hope it will help make you a better angler when it comes to using hard baits.
