- This is a theory I had about Berri the Chipmunk from Conker's Bad Fur Day connecting our current Berri to the one from Twelve Tales Conker 64. It is quite the curious case. What did Conker do? Find out in The Two Tales of Berri the Chipmunk!

I think Conker does care about Berri, but he takes her and other parts of his normal life for granted, and not knowing "what he had until it was gone." Also, it's funny talking about there being multiple Berris, as that idea was going to be used in the cancelled sequel Conker's Other Bad Fur Day, which would've had cyborg and clone Berris.

Slight correction, Cyborg Berri was the original Berri resurrected by aliens, they also revived the professor. The aliens taught them both their way of technology and told them to spread their knowledge, but they both were like “nah, imma do my own thing” Cyber Berri created a near perfect clone of herself and planned to transfer her brain into the clone after she taken care of Conker.
I remember reading a funny fan theory somewhere that the reason Berri changed into the taller buxom form was that she simply hit puberty.
Yeah I mean I’ve heard that too but she also changed color and facial features completely lol
A squirrel girl's colors change wildly during puberty, like Sally Acorn.
well, some species of chipmunks and squirrels change color as they mature or season changing, it wouldn't be too farfetched
as for the hair and face, i'd like to pin that on cosmetic care and surgery specially with her being dedicated to her services lol
@@jiggylookback it's not the only Rare character who got the massive glow up, look at Tiny Kong from Diddy Kong Racing DS onwards; she got taller, changed eye color from green to blue, and has a different face compared to early appearances, also adding up that she's Dixie's younger sister
so the puberty hitting like a bulldozer isn't too far off

I always got the sense that Berri in BFD, regardless of her origins, (which, I honestly wasn't familiar with the previous Conker games, so I didn't have any backstory to fill out in my head) had in Conker a boyfriend of convenience. Given her involvement with the Weasels (and what we know about them in the multiplayer portion of the game), it could have simply been that she needed a cover story to lie low, or something along those lines. On the run from her old boss or trying to get out of the business. Kind of got Marvel's Black Widow vibes going on, the whole honey trap assassin thing.

I really want Twelve Tales released in some shape or form. I like Bad Fur Day and its zaniness and mature humor, but I grew up with Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64 and would have liked a classic collect -a- thon Conker game also.

That’ll be tricky as the original game wasn’t completely finished. Around 30% according to Chris Seavor, and relatively unplayable without dev tools. So that’s a long shot.

Interesting. I always headcannoned that they both had alot of problems growing up, one with the evil acorn and other problems too. Like Conker having a hard time fitting in and having some family issues as well. What leads to a long story that leads Conker to drinking and problems with his and Berri's relationship. I have a fanfiction this. Also, Banjo and others of Diddy Kong racing try to help him. They do reunite with him early on.
Also, I whole heartedly believe Conker and Berri do care about each other as shown at the end of the game when Berri actually attempts to protect Conker and Conker feeling sad he didn’t bring her back to life when he had the chance and really misses her (he went into TEARS in the Live and Reloaded version when she died in front of him), but the 2 just needed to work out issues in their relationship.
Btw, I'm sure Bfd is the way it is bcause the developers love raunchy humor which I think is overhyped these days but I still love the characters.

@@jiggylookback I mean she stood up to the Panther king when he wanted to use Conker as his table chair. Possibly even eventually kill him even if the king said not right now or something. Even the king himself was stunned at Berri and said such loyalty.
Conker and Berri may of had issues in their relationship but I'm pretty sure the developers showed each of their other sides towards the end and still have love for each other even if they don't always show it. Which is why we got such a sad ending. I have a feeling they both regretted their behavior from before even if it wasn't shown. Which is why I wish we would of gotten the sequel.
But I also wish we could of just got 12 tales.

Actually.. there was an official 3 episode cartoon called "conker's etiquette guide." There was a female teacher character on the last episode and she looked exactly like berri from conker's bfd her name was "Golria hyman" and at the end of the episode she and conker went to do.. you know what.. and she looked exactly like berri. Which i think the "conker's etiquette guide" happened before the game, which is why berri sounds and looks different
Could be. Doesn’t change the fact Berri still was named Berri even when her design flipped to the bad fur day model in Tales tales. Which is still before even the etiquette guide.
In my opinion it’s a weird misunderstand of the dynamic of Conker and Berri. The hat gag is a joke they go back on later in the game, when she explains to the weasel that yes, Conker is her boyfriend. They work together in the last mission, and Conker is visibly upset when Berri is shot. 100% they’re bad people both ways but they do care for one another and the Bad Fur Day sequel had a a lot to do with both of them.
Too bad we never got that sequel

My theory is that the Evil Acorn canonically got teleported to the Jail Of Rubbish Game Characters, next to Tootie and Brentilda.

You should've covered what they released about the cancelled conker sequel. Berri didn't actually die and a lot happens in it.
I like to think that as that ar round the time of Pocket Tales, Twelve Tales, and DKR, Conker and Berri were together and then lost contact but then by the time of CBFD, they reconnected and Berri got a fur job, a hair job, and a boob job.

@@jiggylookback another thing to note is that according to Louise O’ Conner, she believes that the Berri from Pocket Tales and Bad Fur Day are one and the same.
You know, if you think about it, The TT Berri and BFD Berri May as well been two separate characters. With some little tweaks here and there, like shortening the ponytail and giving her a squirrel tail, The Pre-Bad Fur Day Berri could have easily been reimagined and retconned as Conker's Sister. Renamed "Sandy" or something. In hindsight I would have liked to have seen more of this Pre-BFD Berri. Call me crazy, But I feel in retrospect The Pre-BFD Berri should have taken Conker's spot in Diddy Kong Racing, And thus would have made her debut BEFORE him by technicality.
I also would have liked to see more of Berri pre Bad Fur Day.
Idk about Diddy Kong Racing but could have been a cool additional character for the game.
Conker quest/Twelve tales were made before pocket tales.. The footage with different Berri's are from older builds of the game. Berri TTC64 design changed sometime in 1997. also fun fact Berri wasn't playable at e3 1997 but was playable at e3 1998.

The dark truth is Berry, Berree and Berri are siblings with the same name. They even get confused and spell their names the same way, despite what their parents insist isn't how they were named. They take turns dating Conker, and lying about how and why they've changed so much just to mess with his mind. Their little prank is what made him hit the bottle so hard. He's coping with the idea that he's lost his mind!

First off, I greatly appreciate that you actually go into her as a character and not just fawn over her looks like most people do! I mean, I'm a furry myself, but c'mon, people!
Oh, Berri... as much as I laud Rare games for being surprisingly feminist, Conker ain't really one of those, even if the game means a ton to me. My thoughts on her are complicated. I think her character is very up to interpretation. I always saw her brushing off Conker with the caveman hat on as her being cross with him and pretending not to care, due to him staying out late and, like you mentioned, their relationship being slightly messy. Though, if you want to see it as her simply not recognizing him, that could work too. She is shown to be able to turn off lasers during Enter the Vertex, so it's fair to assume she isn't dumb.
Mainly, I feel bitter at the fact she mostly exists and... ceases to exist (worried that youtube will delete my comment if I use certain words) to make us feel bad for Conker, without much agency of her own. She shares this trait with Krystal, sadly - starting off as a proper protagonist in her own right and then being delegated to a smaller role when the games shifted focus. Even if I adore Krystal, and have no idea why that adoration doesn't extent to Berri.
I was about to bring up the fact some Twelve Tales footage has grey-furred Berri in her first design but then you did as well! I do vibe with the multiple timeline theory, as wacky as it sounds, doesn't sound too out of place for Conker.

Great video I love Conker's Bad Fur Day in fact my high school actually voted it the funniest video game and your theory is pretty plausible I'd say Conker messing with the timeline unable to get home and be with the person who actually cares about him that's really sad maybe he's with this Berri cuz he really wants to believe that it's the same person but in this timeline she really isn't and thank you for playing the clips from 12 tails I was curious on what that game was going to be like I noticed that Conker had some of Banjo moves and Berri had Mario's dive from Super Mario 64 so I guess that was early development and just worked the early beta with a model they already had and I'm glad they revealed what her design would have been like if she was around today and uses Animal Companions while Conker still has his slingshot I really hope that rare actually makes 12 tails we're in a nostalgic Age so wouldn't it be kind of cool if rare gave us all the games they never made like Donkey Kong Racing in fact they say sea of Thieves is basically what project dream would have been like or the closest thing we'll get to it

@@jiggylookback but we did get dinosaur planet they just renamed it Star Fox Adventures in fact the Triceratops in Diddy Kong Racing was originally going to be Prince tricky as an adult and given that Dinosaur Planet was going to be a Nintendo 64 game that would be plausible

@jiggylookback so you know some people in rare I'm jealous and yes I have seen your connecting the rare Universe video how else do you think I got here I really hope that somebody working for rare comes across your awesome Channel and gets rare out of the Penalty Box I kept on hoping they would go back to their Glory Days and since they made a hit with sea of Thieves and put one of their best characters in the best fighting game there ever was they would make a comeback and making the old games they never released would be a great way to make a comeback Marketing on nostalgia 12 tails with better graphics yes please and I was actually Wishing banjo was in smash ever since brawl came out my brother thought it would never happen but that wish came true it just took a long time and I was surprised I wasn't the only one who wanted him so I bet if all of us keep on wishing we will get more great games from rare maybe even the projects they abandoned and if you ever get rare's ear again maybe you can give them my suggestion about releasing their unfinished games and wouldn't it be really wacky if they made your theory Canon like maybe in the remake of Conker's 12 tails like he finally made it home (yeah right they won't do that) but I bet the other thing can happen if Sora can escape from the Disney Vault for smash despite their really Ludacris hold on their properties Anything is Possible

I've thought about how BFD Conker could be a Conker in a different timeline from the Tales Conker and it would be cool to see the two Conkers meeting and showing off their different personalities in a game. Like maybe BFD Conker could see what he could've had if he had grown up to be more like how his Tales self is or something like that. Just a thought lol.

Konnor’s bad fur day was one of the best games I have ever played. Also with your theory, at the end of BFD, Conkor appears disappointed that he somehow forgot to revive berri, it spurs his whole mood toward being a king. That’s my theory anyways

Never played Pocket Tales but Bad Fur Day is one of my top favorite games of all time. I remember when it first came out in 2001. I rented a copy from my local Hollywood Video store and later got a copy for my 13th birthday. I really fell in love with this game and everything about it. The graphics, the characters, the movie parodies. Then the ending hit me so hard. Damn. This game is like a Shakespeare play in some ways. And Im not a furry or anything but I always found Berri quite lovely. I would love to have had the cancelled sequel because from what I've read and heard about it, it was gonna be something amazing

Imagine they do a sequel to bad fur day and they have a bad guy open a portal to an alternative timeline and our conker meets the original conker.
So pretty much putting a crass adult character in a kids game and you can see where this would go. They have to go through old levels in both bad fur day and the original game (since you play both conker is the other timeline and other timeline Berri in bad fur day timeline and in the end; you beat the bad guy only for the machine that opened the portal to go haywire and end up fusing both worlds together instead of returning them home.
The result is both games locations being in the same world and the two conkers and berri's fusing into 1 entity. Conker being pretty much unchanged but with a split personality and Berri being tall, slender, brown and wearing a red top and pink shorts.
With the last line from conker being something like "So when are we getting a Conker Three? Don't push yer luck!" with an iris out.
I would love that plot. Sounds incredible.
I have to wonder how complete 12 tales was before the switch. It would be a nice bonus to add to whatever the next rare game is, and might be more worth it than the main game itself

N64 fue la consola que soñé tener de niño y no pude. Como "premio consuelo" ahorré y me compré el Game Boy Color (Atomic Purple) a fines de 1998. Por algún motivo que no recuerdo, el juego que compré junto con la consola fue Conker's Pocket Tales. Lo amaba. Al poco tiempo mi hermano perdió mi Game Boy, una herida que todavía no termina de sanar. Ahora de grande pude probar las joyas del catálogo de N64, y grata fue mi sorpresa cuando me reencontré con mi amiga ardilla en Conker's BFD. Un juego que sin dudas empuja los límites de la consola (y del formato cartucho) hasta el infinito y más allá. Una verdadera obra maestra. El humor británico, los personajes, el guión, la música, los efectos de sonido, las actuaciones de voces, los gráficos, los escenarios, el diseño de los niveles, las referencias a la cultura pop, el tono adulto... Jugarlo por primera vez fue una experiencia increíble, una sorpresa a cada instante, lo disfruté muchísimo y sin dudas está en mi top 5 de juegos de N64 ❤. Por cierto, prefiero la versión original y no el remake, los juegos de N64 tienen una estética y una magia únicas, que ningún gráfico moderno, por más tecnología que haya, puede superar. La cereza del postre de Rare en la era N64 🍒. Una joya absoluta que nadie debería perderse.

@@jiggylookback Thank you very much dear Jiggy for reading and responding to all my comments. Something very special happens to me with N64. I think the fact of not having had any console after the Sega Genesis meant that, when I was finally able to try N64 games during the confinement due to the pandemic in 2020, I lived it as if I were that 9-year-old child from 1996 when it came out the console. And on the other hand, not having played any video games after the 16-bit era, allowed me to enjoy and be amazed (as a child in the mid-90s) with the 3D graphics of the console, which in my mind and heart will be always the best graphics that can exist ❤️

It should be noted that Berri and Conker’s relationship isn’t exactly the healthiest in BFD with the games manual commenting that they really wouldn’t last as a couple (something that both of their friends think) Conker’s open attraction to other woman, his love of drinking and his materialistic obsession with Money (Something that’s implied Berri has as well) Berri also doesn’t recognize Conker wearing a hat, and is seemingly about to break up with him before she’s kidnapped.
My personal headcanon is that the reason Conker gets into a depressive state at the end of the game is due to how Berri’s death was his fault, like he still probably cared about her even with their rocky relationship, he had one final test of character and he failed it, and he’s aware of it.
Probably the logic if we only look at Bad Fur Day
@@jiggylookback Conker’s backstory is also different in BFD from what’s presented from DKR and Tt as well, according to the official Nintendo power game guide (Which is framed as the manual Conker Buys from birdy at the beginning of the game with Conker doodling inbetween the pages) he comments about his family living in a tree and throwing car parts on the lawn, and he brings up that he already moved out and doesn’t regret it.

I will always be left wanting to know in a sequel if she would be resurrected or return as a clone (or Terminator) to Conker's life, fate was hard on him for being greedy and wanting money instead of focusing only on finding his girlfriend, although Over the years we have discovered that Berri was hiding something

I think Conker was caught up in the moment of killing the alien and just forgot about Berri through adrenaline at the end. One of the original draft concepts for the story was Conker commits suicide at the end because he couldn't fathom being without Berri. I think Berri was frustrated with Conker all day about him not getting home, probably believing either he is having a bad fur day but its his fsult for drinking last night or not believing and just assuming he is ditching her. I think the original "don't recognize him" bit was to get back at him since he hasn't seen her all day (the guy who said he'd be home by noon and you don't see again until he's doing mob business?)

This seems like it largely relies on factoring in Twelve Tales as a piece of canon lore, which to me isn't, because it was never officially released. I guess I've never heavily considered why certain characters change so drastically inbetween games, like Tiny Kong in the newer spin-offs or Banjo & Kazooie in Nuts & Bolts. I've just always taken depictions to mean a rough estimate of that character's essence and personality, i.e. developers can change how a character looks if they want to portray a different mood or tone. Similar to how the Mushroom Kingdom always appears to be different in each Mario game or why some towns in RPGs are too sparse to be an actual town, it only exists as a rough portrayal to get the idea across. It's not able to be completely real or convincing, so the best it can do is give us different windows and methods of looking at them.
It doesn’t just take twelve tales tho. Even if you look passed it you still have two wildly different looking version of the “same” character with wildly different personalities and basically the BFD version is a call girl so is she his real gf either way?
Conkers bad fur day is a game that i didnt enjoy, but im happy exists. Even without me enjoying it much, i know its pretty important in the grand scheme of things, and im happy people love this game a lot. (The great and mighty poo is iconic though, and the music is pretty good)
I love the mighty poo! I really enjoyed Conker’s Bad Fur Day tho I didn’t play it until I was a teenager! Def has that rare charm but I myself would prefer Kazooie or Dk but I also am happy Conker exists :)

I think Conker's change in personality can be attributed to a few things
Conker growing up and finding his way in life, when he turns 21 (Assuming 21 is the legal limit in the southern kremisphere) Conker goes way overboard on drinking and gets involved with the wrong kind of people, possibly Bumper let him astray where as when he was close friends with the DK crew they kept him in check.

I thought he had a game on Sega I don't know I was a kid back then and there was a game on saying that you played as a squirrel and you rolled over spikes with a big ass acorn and I thought that was his game also LOL remind you I was a kid when that squirrel game came out for Sega Nintendo 64 I was a kid also so I thought the two games was together I forget the name of that game

Nah. I’ve seen maybe two places she’s referenced as a squirrel and both are unofficial wikis. I know that she was designed as a chipmunk and referenced as such by the devs. Which is why she doesn’t have a tail like Conker.

The fact she’s tall means nothing. She was Berri the Chipmunk officially in pocket tales and twelve tales regardless of a redesign it is never stated she is a squirrel. (Unless I’m missing something?)
I agree it’s weird but it’s something I did research on and all I found in game development was she was a chipmunk not a squirrel.
