My pro told me that 1.5 is basically the max smash factor that can be achieved; it’s the optimal transference of club head speed to the ball, ie a perfect strike out of the sweet spot. It is the same for all clubs
While an optimal smash factor with a driver is ~1.5, that’s not true for every club in your bag. From driver to wedge, the optimal smash factor will actually decrease. This is primarily because as we move from Driver to wedge, the loft of the club increases and the angle of attack becomes more steep (more negative). Both of these factors produce a lower the smash factor.
A perfectly struck ball will give you a smash factor of 1.50. Smash factor is calculated by dividing the ball speed by the club head speed. When you said “who cares” about smash factor it surprised me. A 90 mph club head speed with a smash factor of 1.50 equals a ball speed of 135 mph. Your 100 mph club head speed with a 1.30 smash factor equals a ball speed of 130 mph. Your shot would be shorter than the slower swing. Cleaner strikes creates more ball speed. You would have easily gotten 200+ yards with a better smash factor. Just my $.02…⛳🏌
Would you say dynamic loft is a big factor in the stats? Delofting the club is what higher handicap players struggle with (including me). I’ve been working on that and have been getting better strikes with more distance. (Don’t hit my 7 200yds though 😅)
Golf drives me crazy, it doesnt even look like you are swinging hard and getting these numbers, im 35 and swing as hard as I can and I get 150 yards outta my 7 lol, but you give me a driver and a pure hit goes 270+ my irons are my weakest by far, I just need a whole bag of woods.
@@chuckhutch4104 Can you give me a recap of what woods you use and brand? I might make the switch. I have tried the hybrid irons also and still just hit my woods so much better. I can hit my 3 wood 230 5 wood 210-220. My 130-200 iron play is absolutely horrible.
You're not hitting down on it. Driver you're hitting up on it. Opposite for irons. Just aim front of the ball and that'll completely change you're iron game
Srixon Z forged seven iron stock has 32 degrees of loft. Not sure if Matt has had his bent weaker or kept them stock. Most older traditional 7 irons are around the 35 degree range. He mentioned this later in the video if you watched it through.

My 4 iron goes 200 with traditional Wilson v6 lofts 😂

Different smash factor for different clubs. Driver is 1.50
I actually didn't know this. The higher the loft, the lower the ball speed, the lower smash factor 👌

Just an old fashioned 5 iron Playa
Playa in chief is 🦾
100mph with a 7 iron‼️
That's most people's driver clubhead speed.
But as Matt says just because you can doesn't mean you have to.
Great vid!

100 mph swing speed with a 7 iron… holy hell
Wadda hell
Came here to say I just left the trackman session and got out to 200 yards on the dot with a 7. 101 swing speed with a T770!
Hit it twice?
I'd like to carry 200 with my 3 iron....🤨
I can get to 190 yards multiple times, starting golf 3 months ago, dont know what club speed im managing
What degree is the 7 iron
Could be the same degree as my Tommy Armour 845 5 iron for all we know

@@GolfSidekick Correct, sorry, I accidentally looked at the spec sheet for their newer Z forged models.
forward shaft lean. deloft it
which basically means to hit it properly then...
When you try to hit it harder what are you activating more? Hips? Arms? Both? Something else? I can barely hit mine 160 yards
everything sir
@@golfsidekickextras why is this game so friggin hard
