By complete coincidence a colleague was talking about this the other day. I forgot what it was called and keep meaning to ask her again. I think I’ll have to wait for payday though ha 💕
What a great video! Hope your jade recovers.. My last cigarette wasSept 28 2004.. I remember the date because it was the day I had breast cancer surgery.. And this year I will celebrate 20🔔🔔🔔🔔💪💟 years!
Your channel has helped me to brush up on care, propagation and growing tips, plant names, facts, and all sorts of random bits. After finding your channel I'm feeling a lot more confident at work as I move forward in my training in how to care for all our beautiful indoor plants at the nursery I am employed at. Plus these videos bring me joy. Edit: Pertaining to ADHD. My dad was told as a child that he should get ADHD tested (And he was left handed and he used to get his hand hit with a ruler for not writing with his right hand. Crazy right??) He struggled in school and was easily distracted. My grandmother was a very proud woman and felt that anything "wrong" with her children reflected on her as a mother and she never sought help for him. She constantly ridiculed him growing up and he never went to college because his grades weren't up to par. He holds a lot of anger toward her for not supporting him. We do live in a time thankfully where people aren't afraid of diagnosing these things to get their children support. ADHD didn't just come out of thin air in the 21st century! We just living in a more informed time.
I was diagnosed with adhd as a child and the testing is extremely extensive because people fend for the medications. I’ve had people offer me thousands of $$ for my prescriptions during exams, studies and whatnot. But without it I function in pure chaos. It’s typical for people with disorders to be in denial at first because people tend to to think we are just hectic on purpose and no one wants to feel that way. In reality, we are creative, passionate and evolving. Embracing is always best to live a better life. ❤
Cool rain ..sounds lovely 100 plus here and we are all so tired of the heat ): My daughter has ADD and is left handed and very artistic as well She is learning to play chess and says it helps her to focus I told her to teach me ! Love these long plant/chat videos by the way! Congratulations on not smoking and vaping Its a life changer Your body will be forever grateful (:
Hi Claire, great video as always, I'm 59 and left handed, my teachers didn't just tie our hands behind our backs, they would smack the backs of our hands with a wooden ruler if the cought us using our left hand, it never stopped me being left handed 😂
Claire … thank you for sharing your personal story & experience with ADD. You are extremely intelligent which is a trait of people with the disorder. I admire, I watch your videos “all the time”, and before I do anything detrimental with my plants. 🪴 you’re exceptional ! 🤗
I struggle with succulents. Now I have a small leaf jade plant that I took a cutting from my honeymoon in Italy and I really try to keep it alive. I only water it from the underside to prevent overwatering and it turning into mush. Previous succulents have rotted and or struggled with some white fluffy bugs in the roots. I also have struggles with begonias because they require watering more often than I have time to water. I have tried soil and pon. I don't understand why pon didn't work either! Luckily many other plants are easy and can stand also neglect. I like if a plant shows clearly when it needs water and don't just look beautiful for a long time and then suddenly die...
Root mealybugs are a different species than foliage mealybugs (different genus entirely, actually), so don't worry that you could have root mealies just because there's a bad foliage infestation - the chances are very, very unlikely (you'd have two completely different pests in that case). Love your content, as always!
I'm 2 years into plant keeping, I used to really struggle with not buying plants, now I can stop and look and just appreciate plants rather than impulse buying them My current obsession is anthiriums, I've gotten alot of true species, so that I can hybridise them myself, as I think it will be fun but yeah I'm definitely better at choosing plants I actually want rather than just buying it because It's a plants 😂
3:11 I don’t know your exact age, but I’m considerably older. As I aged, my hormones would shift and total skin chaos would commence. I’ve had all kinds of skin problems and hormonal acne is the worst. To quote Tammy Wynette, “Sometimes it’s hard to be a woman.” A benzoyl peroxide face wash (Panoxyl is a brand here in the USA, I don’t know if it’s available in the UK) lather up and let it sit for a few minutes, then wash off well. It will dry out your skin but that’s what moisturizer is for. Adapaline gel (brand name Differin in US) is also great on acne.
I finally got a bungalow with my own garden after living in a very plant-filled 1st-floor flat since 1992. I am sure much like me you will love getting a garden. I have loved sorting it all out and learning about outdoor plants. This is my 2nd summer with my own garden and I am in my planty heaven. I have a potting shed, I have propagated some much and elected all the seeds to form the plants I have planted this year. and can't wait for next year and seeding them all again. I too have ADHD we are very similar in many ways. Plants and gardening remind me of my mum and she is with me in my thoughts when I am out there now. I planted a magnolia in memory of her. I hope you get a lovely place with a great garden I think you will be in heaven too. I do put your videos on while I do my plant bits and drawing.
girl! I repotted like 6 and water a bunch of plants whilst watching this! thank you!!! fyi it took me 10 years to stop craving cigarretes! specially when having a drink the craving would come it was the worst but now I don't even think about it even hate the smell! so there is hope 🥰. also my grandma made so many diy home remedies with that oregano plant it grew like a weed outside in venezuela! and at thew last plant swap somebody gavew me a little plant and I have it outside at the moment and its sun stressed, it was so nice to get it and every time I look at it I think of my grandma 🤗
I was also diagnosed with ADHD as an adult. I highly recommend the book ‘Dirty Laundry’ if you haven’t read it yet. It’s specifically for people that discover later in life they have ADHD.
I adore all of my begonia. I think you’d enjoy the ferox (?) it’s the one with all the spikes. If you keep it humid in your cabinet it will delight you. And the baby leaves are soooo fuzzy! ADORABLE
Forgetting things in the windowless bathroom is very much ADD. Object permanence, and I struggle with this bad. I need clear storage containers , or I forget I have the items inside. 😂
Hi. I have a window less and plantless bathroom too. Also it's very cold even in summertime. Have u got any plants that are suited to this type of bathroom?
I'm left-handed and ADD and sometimes I want to tie both of my hands to a chair lol. As always, thanks for helping me jump back into a ton of plant chores I was putting off!
Just what I needed 💚 thank you for your positivity ☺️ Second thought…can’t you put a yellow Post-it on the fridge with the name of the plant you put in the bathroom? Then you’ll come across it multiple times a day and you can take the post-it off when the job is done, which always feels like THE best thing.
My husband keeps saying the same thing 😅 but I tried it so many times... I am pretty good at ignoring post-its 😉 It's all about the right head- space and the right timing
We had to move relatively spontaneously. In the process, I was finally able to get rid of things that I couldn't let go of in the old apartment. It was so liberating and cleansing. But it's hard not to immediately fall back into old patterns. This also applies to plants, there were some that I didn't really want anymore and I was finally able to let go.
I started using glass without drainage when my terrarium kept over growing.. I figured I could just treat it like a self watering pot nice video! thank you
Well done on quitting smoking/vaping! 🎉 I’m about to get married and will then be going on an IVF journey so will be fully quitting smoking for that. Currently have myself down to social smoking and find it most difficult if I have a few drinks.
My struggle plants are Strings of Things, I lost three Hearts, two Pearls, and a Turtle before I gave up. It also took me 3 tries to keep a Ficus Shivereana alive, even though my Tineke is very happy.
I love my SOH my big one threw a tantrum this winter, I only realized at the end it was getting blasted by the heating vent, but it's made a comeback and filled back out in spring growing like a weed now.
“..lots of rugs” *thinks about the rug sitting outside and people having made it accounts* 😂😂😂 /Oh also, wanted to say I just *love* these types of videos! I watch yours as soon as I possibly can. You’ve become my *favourite* planty youtuber
Congrats on no nicotine! 🥳 I’m currently on the “Hoya head” train. There are a few Alocasia and philodendron that catch my eye but I think I’ve bought 6 different Hoya in the last two or three months 😅
Hello, love this video. I have a recommendation, don’t plant in a glass jar with a smaller lid than the sides, once the roots will take over you’ll have to break it to repot the Luxurians. No drainage work great if done correctly.
Absolutely the waroquanum and the freaking gloriousum! Omg what in the world, I cannot figure them out! They always always always crisp up and die for me
I struggle with the verrucosum, it always gets all mangled and stuck unfurling new leaves...and i see others with big beautiful plants on moss poles and i get so jealous!

Hej, I love your content and always enjoy watching your videos ❤ My struggle plants or more like a struggle genus are philodendren.. I have 4 and everyones new leafs are coming in wonky.. still trying to figure out where in my home they like to be 😅
Great video🪴 Do you think that it would be helpful (moving them in and out of the clost) if you would place a wheel trolly at the base of your storage bins? Just a thought. Also, are you messing with us? Your nail color changed.😂
Ross actually suggested this, I just completely forgot to order the wheely thing! Such a great shout!! Also haha I was wondering if anyone would notice the nail change 😂
Theblack raven Zz and Zz plant! I absolutely adore, but it only lives for about a year or so. I keep trying though, currently only have 4 stems left from 2 12in pots 😢
Hi Claire. How does Spagnum moss smell? Cause i got my first spagnum moss online, by opening the bag,it was not the dry compact but ready to go moist,it smelled very strong ,not nice.a bit like its in a rotting proces🙄 . So how does good spagnum moss smell ?
Most difficult plant that I wish I could grow? Philodendron Pink Princess. I have the most difficult time with it for some reason. I have about 150 plants that are wonderful and only a few that aren't, but just have such bad times with this. Help!!!
How do you clean out the no drainage plant water? I can flush my semi hydro cause I can pull the insert out, been wondering how to keep the semi hydro clean ish in a no drainage glass? I think, whether due to all our screen time or lack of exercise, or processed foods, etc ADHD and anxiety is becoming the norm unfortunately. Our human evolution is going backwards… OR… the internet has made it clear it’s always been common but as a Gen xer we never talked about it, we just dealt with it the best we could without diagnoses The strangest thing, the plant I’m having trouble with its care, I used to have the biggest most lush dieffenbachia, and I’ve got 3 types now, all dropping leaves, bare stem at the bottom, I dunno, I’ll keep trying different tactics 🤷♀️
How can you forget a plant in the bathroom for several weeks when you are in it several times a day? It is probably more a conscious decision not to take care of it, if we are honest
The reason why it feels like so many people have mental problems is because a lot of people self diagnose due to social media influence and want for attention. In reality whet it comes to actual diagnosed disorders, they have not in creased as much as people think.
AHHHHHH NOT THE LEFTHANDED ARGUMENT NOOOOOOO giving me PTSD with that ish I've heard waaaaay too many radical twanz activists comparing the 4000% increase in 8 years of twanz identifiers with the 8% increase over like 70 years with lefthanded, only increasing to the same amount of lefthandedness that existed before they tried to weed it out. There has never been anything close to this many twanzes ever.
I've tried no-drainage too recently & really like it. Charnaine from Unplantparenthood on here grows the majority of her plants that way and has some good indepth videos if anyone wants to deep dive.💚 Also, my son, now 26 has ADHD, diagnosed in elementary school. It was definitely a journey, one that led to counseling for both of us when he hit middle school lol but it was the best thing. He has reactions to the meds so he found (through football) that being very active helped him a lot. I've discovered that I may have it too through our journey & it really helps to just know that I'm not just a scatter brain and horribly forgetful.😏

I feel like the warocqueanum is so easy going but I can't keep a clarinervium happy to save my life 🤣😭🤣
good for you for not smoking/vaping.. from a fellow ex-smoker (quit 20 years ago)
I always struggle with the silver sword philodendron, any tips?
Mine is doing great, it’s on a moss pole, very close to a south facing window. It has had 2 chop and extends, quite big leaves now!
I struggle with the verrucosum, it always gets all mangled and stuck unfurling new leaves...and i see others with big beautiful plants on moss poles and i get so jealous!
Regarding skin care, use your aloe Vera, many benefits
For me the plant I struggle with is the scindapsus pictus.. it will NOT grow for me! So so slow… I got maybe 2 new leaves this year.. I don’t get it.. 🤷🏼♀️
Oh my god I know EXACTLY what you mean about this post about the old days! I have ADHD. I only found out quite recently... my mum just casually mentioned that I was diagnosed when I was a child but she just was ashamed and never told anyone! I had to learn how to "behave appropriately " all my life because when you were different you were basically doomed... just for a little bit of context it was in the 90s and in Poland. Back then polish people were VERY judgmental ( not sure is it changed as I have been living in the uk for over 24 years)
Congrats on being nicotine free!! It is incredibly difficult! Just made it to 3 years and it is so rewarding. sorta related but I did find my skin improved when I stopped smoking.
Also, Begonia Autumn Ember
Begonia Listada
Begonia Ginny Galaxy
your boston fern looks amazing, not sad hahaha Mine looks sad. It is left with only like 10 fronds but at least they stopped yellowing.. not sure if she'll ever bounce back but I like her as she is now as well :)
My struggle plants are strings of things and begonias 🙃 I will never understand 😩
My last smoke was about month ago and I still miss my smokes but can’t due to high blood pressure. I vaped a few times but liked smoking better I need shoulder surgery but have to have blood pressure under control first it has been a lot of downs but am getting better
Where did you get your plant cabinet? Can you share a link to some good ones for someone starting out?
I stopped smoking 17 years ago and still when I smell a cigarette I'm like that smells good. Also a bit of craving still comes and goes as well. But persevere, if you feel better for it it's worth keeping away from them.
Hej, I love your content and always enjoy watching your videos ❤
My struggle plants or more like a struggle genus are philodendren.. I have 4 and everyones new leafs are coming in wonky.. still trying to figure out where in my home they like to be 😅
Do you water them after you add the moss?
Great video🪴 Do you think that it would be helpful (moving them in and out of the clost) if you would place a wheel trolly at the base of your storage bins? Just a thought. Also, are you messing with us? Your nail color changed.😂
Ross actually suggested this, I just completely forgot to order the wheely thing! Such a great shout!!
Also haha I was wondering if anyone would notice the nail change 😂
I miss my huge jade plant. I live in Florida so it stayed outside and with a wet summer that year it rotted. 😢
"Lots of rugs"!! 😂😂 the old rug is sad.
I only "dust my plants if they need a shine up and I'm feeling very ambitious. Usually they go in the shower it's so much easier!😅
Theblack raven Zz and Zz plant! I absolutely adore, but it only lives for about a year or so. I keep trying though, currently only have 4 stems left from 2 12in pots 😢
How cool is it to do all this? 😏 🌱🌱🌱🌱
What Passion Flower tea would you recommend??
Just make sure that the ends are calloused off before you put it on the balcony as it may rot..
Yes It's the big ear oregano. And it grows like crazy non-stop. With 1 leave cut
Calathea roseopicta = my struggle plant 😢 no matter what I do it dies.
I have always bad luck with de Philodendron plowmanii any care tips 😅
Omg that’s how I figured out about my ADHD too - Facebook Reels 😂😂
Hi Claire.
How does Spagnum moss smell? Cause i got my first spagnum moss online, by opening the bag,it was not the dry compact but ready to go moist,it smelled very strong ,not nice.a bit like its in a rotting proces🙄 .
So how does good spagnum moss smell ?
I struggle with my lemon lime maranta. The leaves are always turning brown and curling. I’ve lost at least half of it.
Mine is a tetrasperma I have so many difficult plants that thrive so it seems ridiculous that mine hates me
hi!
Heyyyyy!
As someone who has ADHD, I understand that there are challenges, but there are also advantages… we tend to see more of the big picture
Most difficult plant that I wish I could grow? Philodendron Pink Princess. I have the most difficult time with it for some reason. I have about 150 plants that are wonderful and only a few that aren't, but just have such bad times with this. Help!!!
For some reason I can not get a jade plant to grow I don’t have a problem with cactus or succulents just the darn jade 😢
String of Pearls and Spider Plants, I won't have again. They die every time on me.
Claire it's gorgeous up north. For a change
Oooh good, lap it up while it lasts and send some sun our way, would you?
Thai and albo rot on me every time
How do you clean out the no drainage plant water? I can flush my semi hydro cause I can pull the insert out, been wondering how to keep the semi hydro clean ish in a no drainage glass?

The strangest thing, the plant I’m having trouble with its care, I used to have the biggest most lush dieffenbachia, and I’ve got 3 types now, all dropping leaves, bare stem at the bottom, I dunno, I’ll keep trying different tactics 🤷♀️
Wait, you poured the alcohol you dipped the brush into back into the bottle?? 😕I feel like that contaminates the whole bottle, no?
Twice a month! 😮 They can count themselves lucky if I dust them twice a year 😂 It's my second least favourite plant chore
I restart plants all the time just cause i dont like the way its growing or im running out of space
How can you forget a plant in the bathroom for several weeks when you are in it several times a day? It is probably more a conscious decision not to take care of it, if we are honest
if a plant looks dry and curls it doesnt usually mean thirsty it means root rot so when u watered you overwatered and it yellowed.
Begonia Barsalouxiae
Yah video is too long😢
I've tried no-drainage too recently & really like it. Charnaine from Unplantparenthood on here grows the majority of her plants that way and has some good indepth videos if anyone wants to deep dive.💚
Also, my son, now 26 has ADHD, diagnosed in elementary school.
