Stoptober! You go Claire! Keep us posted and we will keep you accountable! We want you healthy and making videos until you are a senior citizen! I named a plant after you today! 😉
Congrats on quitting smoking and now vaping! I wanted to Thank You for mentioning that you like to reuse the cups and showing that it pained you to have to cut it off. I think we (people in general) don't consider this (creating waste) near enough and I thank ppl with a platform that not only live with it in mind, but mention it to others so hopefully they will consider it too! A+!!
I am watching your videos for a while now. after buying a philodendron pink princess i searched for videos to learn about the care of the plant. i'm from germany, so at first i found only german videos but then i found yours. since that time i watch all your videos after and after at your channel. i love your plants and you and above all i love the dog 🥰 kind regards from Germany ❤
OMG I am so proud of you! I stopped smoking for over 10 years and then started back. Seems worse this time. I did not even know it was stop tober. I want to quit. Last time I made the stupid mistake and said if I ever smoke again... because I knew I enjoied it for some stupid reason. It is a terrible habit. Thank you for sharing this. I was so excited to see a show from you. I was needing something. You will be amazed at how much time vaping takes up. You will have so much more free time. When I quit that was the first thing that amazed me. Smoking takes so much time. weird but it does.
I wish i could stick to a vap but i dont enjoy that a bit but its so hard to get the guts to quit i hate that i enjoy it to much So proud of ya girl you all got this give me an update i want to quit smoking too
yo i just started back in july, hadnt smoked in years. i really want to quit. i dont want to invest in a vape again. put that down years ago too. but ive already spent way more on smokes and i hate the way they taste and the way they smell.
I smoked for 7 years and then cut it completely with regular mints called menthols. You don’t need nicotine gum etc, you just have to get rid of the nicotine completely and most importantly you need to want to quit. You can’t try to quit. If you quit you quit. There is no trying as Yoda said. It sucks first but I never ever grave it anymore. Best decision! So to all of you tryers, stop trying and just cut the cigarettes and flush them down and every time you grave for one, just eat a pastil and suck it up! Its that simple, it really is. Its gonna be horrible for the first 3 days but hey.. i believe in you. Do you? Edit: should add that i have not smoked a cigarette in 10 years and I never will.
I hope your endeavor to quit vaping is successful. Kicking habits is hard, but you can do it! We are behind you. Love your BOP. I know it sounds crazy but I envy your overcast, rainy day. Cozy time at home.
Hi Claire I smoked cigarettes for 20 years, gave them up due to vaping, and want to quit that too. Im crossing my fingers and toes for you and wishing you all the best. Love the video. It's nice when you can throw in a day to get all your plant duties done. i have so many to repot now there, where in spring in Australia. I have around 300 plants. i think 😂😂 i told my partner to blame you for all the plants because you finally encouraged me to start my indoor plant journey. Love watching all your videos.
I get excited about repotting large plants. I don't have one , so I get to live through you. Congratulations on making the best decision for your lungs
Congrats on quitting smoking!! Stay strong ! Good luck with the Rosemary too. It tells you it likes to dry out completely and doesn’t like wet feet.. but it changes its mind on u so you never know…. I don’t think it likes to dry out completely!!…. And Ross’ present is priceless ❣️ Also his lil cutting 💛
Hello Claire, with the regal shield .I'd go for a bathtub instead of that pot 😅. It grows like a weed on something.. 😅 Mine is two years old and is about 5 foot tall.
Ross's terrarium is extraordinary! I really like the layers and details give it depth 👏 These spontaneous videos are the best. It just feels so organic and the length allows me to get so much done 😌🙏
So proud of you! You will be glad you did! My dad,a Viet Nam veteran and a three pack a day smoker, passed of lung cancer in 2010. You will feel so much better when you get used to it! Best of luck! Cheering for you from the USA!
Say Emma uses Nail clippers to cut, you won't hurt yourself anymore 😆. Great video, Learned to make D shape moss poles and now extensions . Take care 🥰
I loved this hang out! Nice to have a bit more of a peak into your life. I reeeeally hope you’ll share those costumes with us when you get dressed up for Comicon!
I appreciate the reality like unloading the dishwasher while trying to decide what to do with the B.O.P., I have the same back and forth arguments and debates with myself about what to do with my plants lol solidarity
I’m so happy to find your site. I have found on UA-cam other planty people. My family doesn’t understand my love of plants. They have told me that one plant is too many
I'm glad you made this video and that I watched it late. You reminded me to water my little silver sword. It sits beside me while I work and I almost forgot. 😊
I actually enjoyed the view you showed of your apartment and the rain at the beginning of the video :) it was a beautiful view of the wide glass windows and plants that surrounded it .. also you are so pretty
UA-cam goofed and didn't notify me of your video. It wasn't even on my home page despite your channel being an insta click for me. Time to comment and like the video to correct this
One time I also made the mistake of putting the pole extension on the outside instead of the inside... I wound up hot glueing that seam to prevent water from escaping and goin into the soil. It worked well
41:06 an artsy thing I like to do with leaves is leaf prints. I put fabric paint or acrylic paint on the back of the leaf and make a print on fabric or paper. You can make numerous prints with one leaf. 🪴🍃🍂🎨
I feel your pain about vaping! I also started vaping to quit smoking, and then got even more heavily addicted to my vape. I finally quit almost 2 years ago now, and it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I have to say, quitting is so worth it. I felt like I couldn’t really enjoy going out and doing things anymore, because all I could think about was the next time I’d get to hit my vape. The cravings are the worst part, but IT GETS BETTER! You’ve got this! Plus, less money spent on vaping = more money for plants, lol!
Good luck with quitting the vape. I've smoked for years, about 3 months ago i bought a vape, and have been doing well with it. I'm not ready to fully stop yet, but i have reduced the nicotine already, hopefully this time next year i will be down to 0 and can stop completely. Love watching your plant chore videos :)
I'm just now seeing your channel. This was posted a month ago. Hope your Stop-Tober went well and you were able to drop the vaping bad habit. It is better than cigs but it's still bad. Happy for you.
It’s wet and miserable today I’m Bathurst, Australia. Hopefully just one day lol. I went out at 9:30am and got back at 2/3pm. I need😊 to make moss poles for my Monsteras (Deliciosa, Albo and Thai) and other aroids.
11:00 OMG! I just quit vaping as well! This is my second time quitting this summer. First time I made it 30 days then went to a music festival and was like "I'll be fine for the weekend with Nicotine". Nope lol. This second time around has been easier. I've been using non nic vapes as well as chewing regular gum can really help with the cravings! From experience its the first 18-36 hours which are a beotch to deal with. One thing to keep in mind: Your appetite is going to be through the roof! gum will help A LOT with this! You got this Claire! I believe in you! Keeping yourself busy with plant things and in my case plant and culinary things really helps too. Stay strong eventually it starts to fade away. However, the oral fixation is a MFer. hence why I am using non nic. Figured one thing at a time lol
So proud of you for trying to quit! I just passed my year mark in September and that year has taught me just how much time I use to spend just on smoking in a single day! 👏🏼😂 Good for you girl!
On your dean mcdowell, you could leave it in place and chop between several nodes to get new growth points. I did that with mine and you double the leaves in the same pot, and slow it down from growing lengthwise. then when you’re ready to take pieces out of the pot you have a fully rooted little plant.
🇦🇺 I was a social smoker, smoked more heavily at uni. Took me several attempts to quit but i did. 7 years later all i wanted to do was smoke again 🤦 made all my friends promise to stop me if i even looked like having one - it was a really hard year but i made it through. Rosemary, being Mediterranean, very free draining soil - i grow mine in coir. It doesn't need a lot of nutrients or water, keep it on the drier side. Light and warmth, as much as you can give it and a bit of fresh air on better winter days.
Growing herbs like thyme rosemary and sage best works outside: they really want a lot of sun and heat. You cannot do anything wrong except for too much water or if they get a lot of rain and cannot drain properly.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Love how you showed the moss pole extension step by step . Your Dubia looks so gorgeous, I think that plant like the moss pole a lot! Thanks for linking all your supplies in the description. Have a great weekend and happy growing. Can you please send the link that you buy the clear plastic for your moss pole?
I also stopped smoking actually at the start of this year by switching to vape. Though I slowly had less and less nicotine in the liquid, and I think I completely stopped in a month. I do have a few puffs here and there but it is no longer a habit, and no nicotine is involved 🫰🏻you will do it 🎉🙌🏻 rooting for you 🌱
The majestic's yellowing leaves looks like to much light to me. I have both the parent plants and both are in semi-hydro and they love it. I bought my sodiroi from Dean's for £22.99 in a 15cm pot in June it's beautiful, so definitely becoming more accessible. I agree that semi-hydro is just so much easier and all my plants seem to love it 🌿💚
😩Ugh! AGREE!! I had rosemary several times over the years. 😦Today, my only rosemary lives in my spice cabinet. 😔I'm certain it peers out in fear every so often, wondering if todays the day!
If your scissors are doing that try using the snips you use to cut the wire. I use my side cutters for both the steel wire and zip ties for exactly that reason.
what a beautiful, happy and honest video! I think you can do the no vape october! Whish you the best :) I battled today about two hours against the thrips that try to take over my plant collection... omg.... but I have a plan now! :D Hope it works xD
Just bagged a both an Alocasia zebrina & Alocasia Portadora AND Begonia Maculata from my local B&M for £24…. All are in extremely good conditions, and mature with new growth or new growth points starting out. The portadora has some black fly , but it’s not actually showing any signs of stress so il treat it quickly & pray that’s that. But overall £10 each… & £4 for a full bushy Maculata aswell… super freaking happy with those finds , especially being as mature as they are…. That would without a doubt , cost me atleast £50/70 at any of my local garden centres. Always check the supermarkets or home stores , they usually surprise you !
Congratulations! It’s hard to quit but stick with it! I have quit several times and it is not an easy thing. I ended up using the patch this last time and it helped.
Congratulations on quitting smoking, vaping is so much worse for your lungs!! Sending you positive vibes, prayers and tons of love your way!!! You can quit!!
Hello about the rosemary, I’m actually have one in my kitchen and it’s doing great but the growth so slow and it’s growing slowly, but she’s have a great roots system
I absolutely agree that vaping is more addictive than smoking! I smoked for 20 years, swapped to nicotine vapes about 2 years ago, then swapped to nicotine-free vapes 6 months ago and gave up completely about 2 months ago. Personally, I needed nicotine patches to quit the nicotine vapes and they were the hardest to give up. I still miss them! But I just constantly remind myself that I can use that money for extra adventures and activities so it’s worth it.
Love your videos ❤. Just recently got a large Philodendron Splendid which i will have to build a large moss pole for. I use nail clippers to cut the excess off my cable ties when i make a moss pole which i think is easier than scissors.
Ok I understand the lure of semi hydro for us who travel for long and frequent trips. But that plant was so aggressively growing in soil, I would have just up potted it. I have a micro cloth wick in everyone of my plants, soil or Pon, I can go away for 3 weeks no worries. I of course have to adjust the size of the cache pot and add an insert so the plant itself isn’t in water. But you do you as always.
I also chose to stop smoking for this month with the hopes of quitting (not nicotine though, the other stuff). I was calling it ‘no-smoke-tober’ but anyway its nice to see you doing something similar! Good luck 😊
I know this video is old but were you able to stick to kicking your vape?! It’s so nice to hear others sharing the same struggles, I’m 3 months down vape free but still needing to use nicotine gum. I still crave vaping but not nearly as much as when I first quit!
What an incredible coincidence. I just stopped smoking (due to illness, which I'm over with) after freaking 30 years! 2 weeks with only nicotine. Sooooo afraid of losing the substance! But i have to celebrate not smoking now. Thank you so much for your story!!!!❤ let the getting rid of nicotine be gentle towards you ❤
I don't really like my moss poles - i live in CA and my house is DRY - and even if i run swamp coolers and humidifiers, my moss poles dry out in MINUTES after watering (it seems). So i am going to try your method - so I am going through ALL of your videos trying to figure out what kind of plastic sheeting you are using for your system - seems to hold in more moisture. Makes MORE sense!
Your bird of paradise is amazing. It reminds me of back home. I tried growing in my home but the leaves keeps trying out. The soil ninja brand finally saw them selling in one of the garden centres that i love going about an hour away. I wish they did the cacti and succulent one in the big bag but only comes in a small bag. First time buying semi hydro for propagating see if it works. Also i bought the philodendron and monstera to see if it works for Money Tree, Sansevieria’s Schefferla and ZZ plants. Congratulations on quitting smoking and i think you quit coffee too. I felt you might be a smoker. Your early videos when i first watched in your other home and beginning of this new home could see your nerves. A bit shaky your hands. I love Comic Con we go every August here in Ireland and now with our son too. I love your dog is he half grey hound? I love the fur colour feels so cozy.
Im moving to a new house yaaaa and it has a very small room that is glass enclosed. I didn’t know what to do with it until I decided to make into my arboretum. I’m so excited I can’t wait to get started putting my plants in it. I have grow lights I live in Florida and it naturally has sun and humidity. How exciting it will be. Do you have any suggestions
I loved everything about this video! How do you get your plants to size up so fast?! I feel like my plants are getting on, alright… but I wish they’d take off and thrive like yours! 😍😩
Woot - Request - Love your channel and trying houseplants again because of you. I see you are currently using moss pole for monstera and a plank on your beloved plant (forgot plant name but it is one you have featured in other vids). Please do a vid on reasons for each because I am so new and seeing posts against moss poles (because of bugs and water requirements) in favor of planks. Please advise…..as I am trying a monstera and not sure how to repot with correct support💕
Rosemary is easy to grow outside, you can't kill it. Just don't water it very often, maybe once or twice a month, then only monthly once its established. I swear its like growing cactus.
As far as the vaping goes I’d recommend trying sunflower seeds, nicotine pouches, nicotine toothpicks or snus if it’s legal where you live. I stopped vaping 2 weeks ago and switched to snus and nicotine pouches and my lungs have never been happier! At some point I’ll slowly taper the milligrams of nicotine down and switch to herbal and coffee pouches. I know all to well how hard it is to give up that pesky nicotine! But I wish you the best of luck! Some update videos (if you decide to stop) would be great to see!
Thank you Claire you inspired me to do lot’s of plant chores and good luck with giving up the vape, I’m still vaping ! But I’ve got the nicotine strength to 6 🤣
I took your advice on soil ninja as well ( got a bag of everything basically) and it’s only been a week but there’s definitely a noticeable change , especially with propagation. Sphagnum… is an actual game changer , i cannot bang on enough about. There’s a few Begonia I have that are extremely specific, fussy little buggers…😂 And a few that have just developed a mood issue with the rhizome, and literally fell apart.. And usually Begonias are good with propagation , but being we’re approaching winter.. there in or approaching dormancy so there even harder to work with.. But , I tried the moss on one of them , along with a Tradescantia and just one week later the tradescantia is flowering & the begonia (only two days in) hasn’t changed, but it now seems stable atleast so I’m hoping it’ll take & grow on. Definite must have , for propagating. Though I’d advise to check ph levels of the plants your sticking in there , as not all plants will appreciate being thrown in the moss due to there ph levels.
Hey Claire, have you shifted any of your succulents to semi-hydro? I remember you mentioning to Emma that you'd try it yourself at some point, and because you're shifting most of your collection over to semi-hydro, I'm thinking now might be a good time to do so if you're still considering it.
I grow tons of Rosemary. They hate a lot of water. NO wet feet. The chunky mix is correct. IMPORTANT: Trim the tops often before they become "woody" and it will grow for years. Once it goes woody it changes flavor and growth pattern. They can take partial to full sun actually. It will slow in the winter but Spring it will start going nuts.
@thelioness330 Where I live, I plant rosemary outside, it grows into a huge bush about 4 feet wide and 4 feet tall. It's huge! 😀And I never water it; the rain is enough.
Hello Claire, I heard that you should definitely not use a Mosspole with Semi Hydroponic. Organic components get into the inorganic substrate and this can lead to root rot. because moss is organic too, richtig?
Stoptober! You go Claire! Keep us posted and we will keep you accountable! We want you healthy and making videos until you are a senior citizen! I named a plant after you today! 😉

For the rosemary the keys are really good drainage and good light. It will be happier outside on your balcony.
I’m so happy to find your site. I have found on UA-cam other planty people. My family doesn’t understand my love of plants. They have told me that one plant is too many
Your skin is glowing! Nice new camera! About to watch the video 🥰

Your Dog is gorgeous 😍
I loved just finding you! I'm a bit new to the UK and new to houseplants IN the UK so i'm excited to watch more of your content!
the Dubia is looking beeeeauuuutiful! another great vid, thank you
So many brave decisions! Both on the stop-tober and the chop-tober front, really well done! 👏👏
Congratulations on starting on this new journey of trying to stop smoking .

Those are the days that make me realize how blessed I am to have a roof over my head and heat.
Non planty comment : the color of this Shirts makes you look stunning
Loved the more casual vloggy style of this vid! Good luck with stoptober! 🪴🌼😊

Ive been trying to stop vaping as well. I stopped smoking cold Turkey but vaping is soo much harder because it tastes better lol
Congratulations! It’s hard to quit but stick with it! I have quit several times and it is not an easy thing. I ended up using the patch this last time and it helped.
Great repotting vid; thanks for sharing Claire!
Congratulations on quitting smoking, vaping is so much worse for your lungs!! Sending you positive vibes, prayers and tons of love your way!!! You can quit!!
Loved this video ❤
Lovely video, love the style! - now I'm feeling bad and wanting to buy you new scissors 😆❤
Hello about the rosemary, I’m actually have one in my kitchen and it’s doing great but the growth so slow and it’s growing slowly, but she’s have a great roots system
Laughing so hard as you talk about cleaning up as you go, as I have about five little piles of spilled dirt from my weekend plant chores. 🤫
I love your channel and enthusiasm
Makes MORE sense!
how thick of acetate clear sheets do you buy?
do you get bigger than regular sheets of paper 8.5inchx11inch?
Vape Queen!
What sphagnum moss do you use for the moss poles?
Please share your costumes with us! And their making too
As far as the vaping goes I’d recommend trying sunflower seeds, nicotine pouches, nicotine toothpicks or snus if it’s legal where you live. Some update videos (if you decide to stop) would be great to see!
use the wire cutters/ flush cutters for the zip ties
Thank you Claire you inspired me to do lot’s of plant chores and good luck with giving up the vape, I’m still vaping ! But I’ve got the nicotine strength to 6 🤣
I took your advice on soil ninja as well ( got a bag of everything basically) and it’s only been a week but there’s definitely a noticeable change , especially with propagation. Sphagnum… is an actual game changer , i cannot bang on enough about.
There’s a few Begonia I have that are extremely specific, fussy little buggers…😂
And a few that have just developed a mood issue with the rhizome, and literally fell apart..
What about when your new leaves are not coming out great - cracking and brown - maybe mealy bugs - maybe humidity?!
Maybe BOTH!?
Can you please lmk what acetate film you purchased on Amazon for the most poles?
Love your channel❤ Thanks!!
It will slow in the winter but Spring it will start going nuts.
doesnt it need to have dormant period?
@thelioness330 Where I live, I plant rosemary outside, it grows into a huge bush about 4 feet wide and 4 feet tall. It's huge! 😀And I never water it; the rain is enough.
After 7 days you will be great. Then when 30 hits you will be golden. YOU CAN DO IT CLAIR! You inspired me!
Have you tried the Thicky Poles they are so easy and the same results.
Loving this chatty plant day and you can def kick the nicotine!! I did at 21 and Im 33 now!!
Hello Claire, I heard that you should definitely not use a Mosspole with Semi Hydroponic. Organic components get into the inorganic substrate and this can lead to root rot. because moss is organic too, richtig?
Your humidistat in the cabinet is tragic 😂 might be time for a new one
I have the same kettle as you 😂
