I don’t know what Babbel paid you but they didn’t pay you enough 😂 Claire I am LOVING these longer plant chore videos. I keep rewatching old ones as I patiently wait for your next one 💚
You and Emma should have a friendly competition growing something like Matthew (tech plant) and Jeff are doing with the great pothos race! Would be fun to watch ❤
The way you threw that tetrasperma stem over your shoulder as if it were a scarf, the Audrey Hepburn of plant tubers. Your organisation has once again given me a boost, thank you ❤
Hi Claire! I use diatomaceous earth by mixing one tablespoon with one quart of water and putting it in a spray bottle. Then i thoroughly spray the plant with the mixture. This spreads the diatomaceous earth very effectively and EVENLY! This works wonders for me. Hope this helps! It keeps it from "dusting" everywhere.
How true! I sprayed this under my house where ants were getting in, and a large rhapsallis with mealy bugs. When it dries it's a complete fine covering and very effective. Need to reapply outside after rain as it washes off. But would work on indoor plants too.
That intro was so great 😂 know it was for a sponsorship but still. You are too fun! I'm from the U.S. and have been trying to learn Norwegian so I can speak with my relatives there more easily.
I'm the exact same way with my obsessions! I fixate on things until I find a new fixation. My friends will say things like: "Wow, you really love plants now!" (Six months ago I was obsessed with crafting and Cricuit projects). At least with plants, there's SO much to learn.... I recently switched all 30 of my plants to semi-hydro and I'm completely obsessed!
Love what you did with those soil bins. Putting them on wheels would be so handy! I have a similar system with smaller bins on a small shelf, I have to refill them “more often” but they are also easy to carry around Yes, cane Begonia root so easily in soil for me! The leaves go limp (and shiny) for a bit at first, maybe one or 2 drop and then they perk up again and continue growing. Id suggest trying it with a plant that grows easily for you so that it wont be stressful (and also not a problem if it doesn’t work in your conditions for some reason). 🌱 Cane Begonia: Pink Minx, Tamaya (bonsai style), Brevirimosa Begonia Jiewhoei is also cute and quite easy if the humidity stays above 60%
That semi hydro soil mish mash you were doing is something called "no drainage". It's basically what you did, a layer of some semi hydro substrate at the bottom and soil for the rest. I first saw Charmaine do this (unplantparenthood) on her channel and she does this for most of her plants. It's a great low maintenance method. I've only tried it for my adiantum so far but it has worked great for that one. So I recommend it at least.❤
Claire, I’m laughing and feeling for you as i am exactly like you as an adhd person 😇😅 I obsess and/or get anxious (what if the plant is sold out) to the point where I can’t sleep at night when I hyperfocus on something - very often a plant these days 😂 I have an garden begonia and I LOVE IT so much, I want to grow it inside for the Winther. It is called Begonia boliviensis aka “Sparks will fly”. It has the most beautifull Dark velvety leaves, and amazing powerful orange flowers 😍 Every morning when I open the Doors to let the dogs run out in the garden, I smile from looking at this beautiful begonia. Thank you for your content 🫶🏻
About the cubboard of chaos. It is an ADHD thing to have “object permanens”. That you need to be able see your things all the time. I havent figured it out either, but what if you had a basement storage and you only had like 10 extra pots in your cubboard, and then took a picture of the rest, and put it away in another storage place? 🤞🏻❤️
Hi Clair! With Pon, I typically use a fine sieve first and tap the sides over a garbage can to get rid of the powder. Then I use a little bit bigger sieve over a storage container and tap that until no more falls out. These tiny grains are great to use instead of sand for making DIY succulent style mixes, or even in your regular potting mixes for extra drainage. Those tinier bits are quite useful! 🪴😘
From what I understand, you can mix diatomaceous earth with water and spray it on the leaves. Once it dries, it's just as effective as sprinkling it on dry.
These are my favorite videos ! I work from home and its so hot ): here (no air conditioning) but watching you/working my job, taking brakes and talking care of my plants (about 200) really helps me get through the day! So not boring at all but actually very helpful I have a stainless steel trash cans/bins (new and clean) that I put all my soil, gardening things and plant stuff in I do have it outside but I have the space (20 acres) It does help me stay organized but I have so many pots and I am not sure how I will be getting those organized ): and your Spanish was excellent ! I had two begonias and they both died I think it was just too hot for them
Impressive! Love the crickets when y’all pan over to Joli! 😂😂 Me da mucho gusto que están aprendiendo español. Mi hija habla español y portugués. El año pasado, ella fue a Brasil por una semana y le encantó… honestamente, yo quisiera aprender francés. Loved the video! You threw me for a loop! I have different soil mixes in storage boxes, it really comes in handy to have everything mixed and at hand. I mix my own using a base soil and add stuff to it. I have storage boxes for trellises, empty cleaned nursery pots etc. For your Anthurium, put lecca at the bottom of your vessel and mixup tree fern, a little bit of soil and pon…or leave out the soil and just do a tree fern and pon mix.
I’ve been recently experimenting with substrate layers as well - I’ve transferred an alocasia dragon scale and anthurium crystallinium into something like that: layer of pon, layer of moss, main layer - chunky soil + another layer of moss on top. I leave 1cm of water in the bottom after watering. They both absolutely love it!
I'm moving to Surrey in the UK next year for school and importing a lot of the prized pieces of my collection (it's a process, and I'm starting uploading on this UA-cam channel soon and will document that whole process lol), once they're reestablished I’ll to go to one of the plant swaps cause I have lots of plants you seem to want lol
I feel so seen watching this Video... the chaos, that spreads from one corner to another, the obsession on one specific topic, the sleepless nights fussing over a new thought and the inner child, that enjoys getting the hands dirty 🥰 I am also late diagnosed with ADHD and I can relate to so many things you are sharing. You are such a heart warming and inspiring person ❤
Re maryelizabeth's comment; mixed with water works for months! Just have to redo if you wadh it off. When dry is finer, and none wafted through the air. Same as the dry puffer though, you have to keep shaking the spray bottle to keep the d.e. mixed evenly as you spray. I do mine in the shower. Works for very fiddly mealy hiding places!
Why is it, that it feels so good to have a new shipment of various soil mixtures for your plants. Plus having them all boxed up, and neat and tidy. You need to get a couple of very large see through totes/boxes, and put all your planty type things away in them. Label them as well, it would look much neater you in your closet that keeps on giving. LOL I am waiting for two bags of the special Cactus and succulent mix I use, and it's exciting. Can't wait to use some, on some plants that I didn't get re-planted in it, because I ran out. Ross and you are doing great with your spanish. Congrats.
Love your videos, Claire. I've got adhd too and relate to your personality so much. Getting into plants has been so dangerous because I've got no self-control and want them all lol! But i don't regret it at all, such a joy in my life.
When my daddy raised a garden, he would put the sevin dust in an old tshirt or terrycloth and he would walk down the rows and shake it over the plants and it coated them. When I saw you dusting the plant like that it made me think of that. 😊 I think sevin is similar to diatomaceous earth. Not sure
I love how much you make me laugh girl! I could watch you all day. I wish you had your own tv show because your much more entertaining than the bs on tv now days lol. 😅
Definitely Spanish! I also have my substrates and amendments in bins, so handy, 1 for leca, 1 for pearlite, one for my chunky aroid mix, 1 for sphagnum moss, one for extra bags of bark, charcoal vermiculite, worm castings etc, one for my more moisture loving and outdoor potted plants. My whole setup with a potting table is on our big back deck out of the house. Hubby gave me the yard tool shed he bought for the rest of my supplies, garden tools, prop containers, pots, birb feed, outdoor fertilizers and extra grow lights, Works great, out of the way,
I know you don't like a lot of color, but I'm obsessed with my Begonia Red Robin. She's so pink and sparkly! She looks like her leaves are dusted in sparkles 😍
Que bueno que hablas español! Eres mi UA-camr favorito. Tengo alrededor de 150 plantas y aprendí mucho de ti. Siempre sigo aprendiendo. Yo soy de Mexico ❤ gracias por tus videos.
Oh yes also I find that begonia’s have fine but dense roots so no point trying to break up the root ball, just pot it in a bigger pot with soil around.
I watch your videos from France to learn about plants and to learn english as well!!! I love your british accent and prononciation !! Thank you Claire!
Random tip that helps me…once I fill my buckets of substrate if I have some left over I like to use that first instead of refilling the bin. It feels like one less step even tho it’s not really 🤪
The intro was so entertaining. Especially Joli and the crickets. When she finally whined, my dog Bodhi lit up and jumped at the screen ( he as a dog crush on Joli).
I've been unwell and some of my plants have suffered. I don't have the mental space or motivation to rehab them so I've been posting them on FB for free. Someone will be getting some great plants after they rehab them.
Thanks for the latest obsession Claire. That begonia sinbad is 😍I have a massive begonia maculata. She is my massive monster mama. I’ve had her for nearly 3 years, chopped and propped loads. I have been guilty of neglecting her at time but she’s wonderful. And from my experience with her so easy to prop in water, I have planted cuttings straight into soil and she grows like a weed.
I watch Kinging-It YT channel and that perfect ad spot reminded me of theirs. I love it and never fast forward those kinds of entertaining ads. This whole episode was enjoyable and now I'm searching for Sinbad 😁
Hi Claire, Ross, and Yoli. I hope you are all doing well 😊 I currently use a bulb duster when applying diatomaceous earth, which works in a similar way to what you've been trialling. The ones from Dr. Killigans are very good 👍 And it made me smile when you spoke about discarding your semi hydro water, and then mentioned your downstairs neighbour always having a leaky ceiling. Maybe there is some correlation there, haha 😂 Much love ❤️ x
Hi Claire, I don’t know if you have an idea of so many Spanish people that see your videos, I’m one of them (Puerto Rican), love that introduction, I love your videos, love the way you have your hanging plants.
I was given a dragon wing begonia. In winter I have in pot with grow light. After last frost I plant outside in ground. Grows like crazy and the white to pink flowers turn red. It's now 3years old. From Ohio
Amazing I used to live in Worthing too. I'm now up in Nottingham. I miss playing on the 2p machines at the beach and make sure I play on them whenever I visit my mum.
Hi. I love that you're learning a new language! That's awesome, Spanish sounds so lovely. My son and I use duolingo. He is learning Japanese, and I am learning German. I love your videos. Thank you for being you. 😊
Loved your intro! I visit Mexico at least once a year, but where I live in the US, we have a lot of Spanish speakers, so I really should take advantage of the Babbel promotion because my Spanish is less than stellar. If you are getting into rex begonia, take a look at the "silver limbo". It turned me onto rex begonia and now I am hooked. I recommended it to Emma as well, because she loves the hatacoa "Silver" that she got at the Malvern Festival, and the silver limbo is even more metallic than the hatacoa.
Instead of the Cupoard of Chaos, how about the Cupboard of Creativity? It will inspire you to think about the space differently and then good things will follow :)
Honesty the Sinbad is so resilient it can grow is almost anything. And it grows too fast haha. I cannot keep up with it! But luckily since it's nor common where you are, you can sell all the cuttings so easily!
So adorable 😅Joli . I love French we were in Paris for holiday 10 years ago. Once you know French Spanish and Italian easy to learn afterwards. In Ireland alot of work places uses these languages so is good opportunity to get work. German is the hardest one. I learn Italian in school and my husband French. Barcelona , Tenerife and Majorca lovely places aswell. I love Italian food another place i want to visit.
That String of Turtles makes me want to run and buy one! Too cute! I only have Beefsteak Begonias, but she is prolific grower. I was able to propagate by leaf cuttings, which was exciting to try. What started as a one leaf starter plant has turned into three plants, and the leaves can get large (dessert plate). I'm running out of space for them.
I'm only half way through the video but had to stop and comment. Your Begonia will love that set up. I love colorful leaves and have an array of Begonia Rex and others and I keep them all in a self-watering/semi hydro situation of one kind or another and they absolutely love it. Mine take about a week to realize what is going on and then they take off. Insane new growth and sometimes have to upsize twice in 6 months. Keep an eye on that resevoir. They are very thristy once they get going and realize there is a never ending supply of water. If they dry out they will very dramatically flop over and drop some leaves, but they come back pretty quick with a good water and an apology lol. Mine are thriving in a warm humid plant room under very good grow lights. Keep us posted!! :)
Omg when you pulled that antherium out of the pot I almost fell over laughing! I have been there. I'd really like to see how you handle those roots. I sometimes struggle with mine if they get to that root bound phase. Love your videos. I have ADD as well. lol the struggle is real!
Idk about everyone else but my diatomaceous earth came in like a squeeze bottle with a nozzle that could be screwed off. So your spray method seems good to me. (I only use it like that outside cuz it freaks me out a bit the way it puffs out)
Have you seen the new plants in the Thai plant shops? Fair warning, saving your money now. They’re BEAUTIFUL plants and AMAZING colors and variegated plants. Monstera Bulbasaur was one I wish I could send you to grow.
Oh my god!!! Ross coming back to say his bit in Spanish!! 😂😂😂 I haven’t laughed that hard in sooo long! Thank you. ❤ And the begonia in the milkshake cup?! GENIUS!!
I don’t really care for Leca as substrate by itself, but I do really enjoy using it as the base layer for plants in no drainage (whether it be semi hydro or a soiless substrate). I find it helps keep root rot at bay because of the extra oxygen down there and you don’t need a separate container for the reservoir.
I lost my lindenii recently and it grew back from a pile of dirt! I let it dry out completely, cut back the foliage, pulled up the bulbs cut off all the roots and repotted. Yours should be fine! ❤

I love this idea! I'm messaging her now!!
The skit for the ad was perfect 👌 😊
I shake my new semihydro in a sieve over a bowl, gets rid of lots of dust-then I just chuck the dust into my soil mix x

We LOVE these sorts of videos Claire! Even if it's just cleaning and organizing materials and supplies, all is fair in love and plants 🌻
I agree! Seeing the different ways people organize is really great to get new ideas or ideas to tweak the way you're currently doing it

Begonia Maculata is my favorite. The silver spots look like paint and it is so cool looking!

Wow! That was amazing Spanish!
¡Hola Claire y Ross desde México!
Love each and every one of your videos 😊
Hello from a stormy Cape Town, South Africa

I feel so seen watching this Video... the chaos, that spreads from one corner to another, the obsession on one specific topic, the sleepless nights fussing over a new thought and the inner child, that enjoys getting the hands dirty 🥰
I am also late diagnosed with ADHD and I can relate to so many things you are sharing.
You are such a heart warming and inspiring person ❤
And of course I forgot the constant fight against distraction, that keeps me from beeing productive and focused 😂
I love pots. I collect them from everywhere I go. But they are usually not the right size. Oh well I guess I’m going to need more pots
What a great intro and sponsor ad! 😂
I’m glad I’m not the only one who orders the wrong size online.😆 I attributed it to my attention deficit disorder😂
I will have to try this!
I need organization videos for my planty things. I have a shelving unit in the garage and it’s a nightmare
I did not expect the video of Jolie. Almost made me cry! So beautiful.
LOL
I am waiting for two bags of the special Cactus and succulent mix I use, and it's exciting. Can't wait to use some, on some plants that I didn't get re-planted in it, because I ran out. Ross and you are doing great with your spanish. Congrats.
You forget scaffolding reduces light just I just had mine removed finally!!
Uhh I know. I'm dreading it!
This video had me captivated the whole time, and definitely motivated me to get some plant chores done that I’ve been pushing off.
Love your videos, Claire. I've got adhd too and relate to your personality so much. Getting into plants has been so dangerous because I've got no self-control and want them all lol! But i don't regret it at all, such a joy in my life.

jajajaja buenísimo claire cuando quieras practicamos 🎉❤

Awwwww!
That was the best UA-cam add I think I've ever seen. Now I really want babble 😂
I think you'd really like the Begonia Listada Magadalen Madsen. The leaves are sooooo velvety and it grows super fast for me. Very easy to prop. 💚
Super orgullosa de ustedes dos por querer aprender Español yo quiero aprender Italian for a lot the years 🎉🎉🎉🎉 good night (muy buenas noches).
I love playing with the soil too. Every time I get really anxious, I get my hands in some dirt and repot something.
The intro was so entertaining. Especially Joli and the crickets. When she finally whined, my dog Bodhi lit up and jumped at the screen ( he as a dog crush on Joli).

You and Ross have become very good at Spanish 🎉🎉 I think Ross’s idea for a trolley for your substrates would be great 😀🇨🇦
French! Perfect timing for this particular sponsor.
Watching this awesome video sitting in my humble backyard repoting my new bird of paradise and baby dwarf banana tree

Ross and the thirst traps 😂😂❤❤
The gryphon is so beautiful
Saludos Claire desde Puerto Rico❤ 🇵🇷 Nice to hear you speaking spanish
Hi. I love that you're learning a new language! That's awesome, Spanish sounds so lovely. My son and I use duolingo. He is learning Japanese, and I am learning German. I love your videos. Thank you for being you. 😊
I love my cane Begonia Maurice Amey - just propagates straight into soil (mine loves a TFF heavy mix)
Love the smell of freshly open bag of bark :-) and commercial was cool lol

If you are getting into rex begonia, take a look at the "silver limbo". It turned me onto rex begonia and now I am hooked. I recommended it to Emma as well, because she loves the hatacoa "Silver" that she got at the Malvern Festival, and the silver limbo is even more metallic than the hatacoa.
Instead of the Cupoard of Chaos, how about the Cupboard of Creativity? It will inspire you to think about the space differently and then good things will follow :)
Aww I love this!
Loved the intro, very fun 😊
My favorite genus are cane begonias and anthurium 😍🌿
Honesty the Sinbad is so resilient it can grow is almost anything. And it grows too fast haha. I cannot keep up with it! But luckily since it's nor common where you are, you can sell all the cuttings so easily!
Good vid. Thanks for sharing Claire!
The add skit was so fun
My favourite is Begonia Rex Silver
, it's absolutely out of this world. I use Duolingo to learn french, it's great🙂
Great video and love the Joli bits! ❤
Me encanta vuestro español!!❤
Claire you speak Spanish so well. Thanks for the content. Love your channel. Hi Ross and Jolie😊
Oh that's so kind of you!
Love your videos ❤❤ your so much fun! I'd love to do plant chores with you in person lol.
Super cute and clever intro ❤️❤️❤️
So adorable 😅Joli . I love French we were in Paris for holiday 10 years ago. Once you know French Spanish and Italian easy to learn afterwards. In Ireland alot of work places uses these languages so is good opportunity to get work. German is the hardest one. I learn Italian in school and my husband French. Barcelona , Tenerife and Majorca lovely places aswell. I love Italian food another place i want to visit.
I do the moss on top and pon on the bottom I fond it keeps the moss damper longer . I do think with cutting I want to grow in pon
Yay I'm so glad you think so! I'll make sure to monitor the reservoir very carefully!
Jajaja que bonito te quedó el castellano 😂soy mexicana y me gusto 😂
Best commercial ever🎉
its the way your spanish is better than mine even after growing up in spain for me 🙈😶🌫️😂 pop off claire!!
Omg when you pulled that antherium out of the pot I almost fell over laughing! I have been there. I'd really like to see how you handle those roots. I sometimes struggle with mine if they get to that root bound phase. Love your videos. I have ADD as well. lol the struggle is real!
I’m in love with my begonia lubersii it’s velvety and dark!
Oooooh I'm not sure I should look...
Oh my god!!! Ross coming back to say his bit in Spanish!! 😂😂😂 I haven’t laughed that hard in sooo long! Thank you. ❤
And the begonia in the milkshake cup?!
