At 68 years old my game is merely a shadow of what it once was, but I'm a club junkie and still love it. I live off my short game, I probably have 20 lob wedges and can use them all............but the High Toe is simply a tremendous wedge. A tip of the hat to the designers of the High Toe...........it's brilliant!

Great video Trottie, thx👍. Getting the right bounce for yourself & the conditions you play in is so massively important, & in reality it’s not until you try a few different grinds / bounces together that you realise how much difference it makes to your strike. Looking forward to a wedge fitting this afternoon😁. Probably the easiest way I can think of along with a good putter fitting to lower scores without changing technique. As a UK 54 year old I learnt hands forward but last year added in vertical shaft after watching a Mark Crossfield video - game changing option! Also theirs a TM 35 min vid on chipping etc with Tiger, Rory & Jason Day - absolutely brilliant, must watch! Loving the Tuesday videos👍👍👍
I know you guys really DO know what your saying but how I’ve heard ppl try to articulate it is where most of us mid to high handicap golfers struggle when trying to comprehend js. Thanks for all you do pal. This is not 👃 up or cheeky comments im simply trying to grasp forward and backward the wedge fit process

Absolutely one of the best explanations and demo’s of bounce and how to use it that I’ve seen. A very simplistic explanation that most if not all should understand. Add to that was various techniques or options on using wedges around the green and how to execute them. Thanks!

I always like to think of bounce like water wings. The bigger it is, the more buoyant, and that’s where grind comes in to dictate versatility.
58° 6° Bounce for my bunker shots
54° 10° Bounce for less than full shots and around the greens
50° Is part of my iron set since I use it for only full shots
I started using Cleveland RTX Full-Face wedges this year and I'm absolutely loving them! No offense to TaylorMade, Trottie! I just love my wedges. Great video as always. My golf coach told me wedge bounce equals forgiveness if your technique is good. Who doesn't want a little more of that? Trottie, would you please do a video about swing weight and possibly a way to check it without a machine like you use? I would just take my clubs to a clubfitter but I'm actually very interested and enjoy working on my own clubs!
Good comment & fair on your wedge choice, you do you. I agree with the bounce comment from your coach & then the swingweight piece without a machine, that's a tricky one & not sure it's something I'd recommend
A new driver can cost up to $600+ and you really will only be using it on 14 of the 18 holes you'll be playing. Wedges will be used on every hole and can save strokes off your game. I say spend $500 - $600 on several wedges with different lofts and bounce. Pull them in and out of your bag based on the course you're playing. That (in my humble opinion) is money well spent.

Great explanation Trottie. What about mixing the bounces up if you carry 3 wedges? 52 9 degrees, 56 12 degrees bounce and 60 8 degrees or would you just go with a higher bounce all the time as you explained you can alter the angle of the shaft to take the bounce out of the shot
No I like where your heads at…. Just understand how it works & have solid reasons as to why you want only 8° on the 60
@@trottiegolf the coach I used to see for a couple of years convinced me to have less bounce for more creativity 4/5 years ago. I used to just have a 52 & 58. But changed to the lofts I described above. But I love the 56 with 12 bounce. 1 foot in the Champoins league final🤞 but I hope we get 3 points off you on Saturday HWTL ⬛️⬜️⬛️⬜️😆

I’ve been fitted for Low bounce mill grind 3 wedges but I’m watching your video and do you think I will be suited more too standard bounce I play more woodland courses in the uk
I think with an efficient technique more bounce, if leveraged in the correct way is 💰, obv tough for me to help you exactly without seeing you in person

Hi chris... Why is it sometimes i tend to hit the ball with the leading edge when i opened up the club face? I'm using a 11° bounce on my 56° wedge
Without seeing you play the Shot and seeing Your Wedge, It's only a guess of which of the Multiple Causes you are producing.
1) Poor setup at Address
2) Opening the Face TOO Much on a Hard or Thin Lie.
3) "Scooping" or trying to Help the Ball up into the air.
4) TOO much use of the Hands/Arms and NOT enough Chest Rotation.
Have a Good teaching Pro look at you during a Lesson.

@@apaulmcdonough2170 i guess no 1 and 2 is correct. I tend to open the club face too much whilst placing the ball closer to front foot. 😅
@@faridbakri2534 THAT Setup - Opened Face, Forward Ball Position - is for a Bunker OR Grassy Lie Situation.
So, a LIE that is going to REDUCE the Spin and Height of the Ball AND then using Open/Forward to get back some Height.
"Height and Spin" are highly Overrated in the Recreational Short Game. These are for Ball STOPPING Power, and HEIGHT is the Alternative when SPIN will be Restricted by the Lie.
Most Recreational Players are NOT Playing onto Greens that Run "12 and Up" on the Stimpmeter.
When you have a Tight, Clean Lie play a More Neutral Position and set the Face Square or Barely Open.
This will give you ample SPIN, and as for Height, all I NEED is 12 Inches Above the Highest Thing between my Ball and the Hole.
Its none of the above as such.....its all to do with swing plane. Simple put you need to swing more out to in and a little steeper decent when opening the face so cut across it and hit down a fraction more.... The ball will come out straight still and you won't blade it half way up
I'm always having a little bit shaft lean while chipping and pitching, not much but a little bit. feels way better for me. would you recommend a higher bounce on my 54/58? like 13 on my 54 and 11 on my 58?
depends on the grass type & turf conditions but I don't hate it.... & the shaft lean part I like, good job with that. STD bounce will be a good place to start I reckon
@@trottiegolf ofc! The courses in sweden are rarely firm! Some courses have very ”sandy” fairways. Those shots are hard for me from 20-50 yards

Many variables, your personal technique being a major one. Do you know your attack angles or what you struggle with in terms of grass types & also what you love?
But in thick rough you want more bounce and use the bounce to your advantage.
Can I ask, for example 50 yard pitch shots, would you still open the face?
dependent on the lie yes & how quickly I needed to stop the ball

All depends which "Titleist Dude" you're referring to and I will add I never said I did btw. Main Titleist guy on tour is great and wedges is his absolute world so I'd hope he's on a level with me.

Tough to get without mastering the basics & then having good grooves / greens / turf conditions etc etc.... I can cover it but that's not for the masses
@@trottiegolf got you. I think higher bounce sometimes makes me too complacent in my shot making. I love the predictable ones you catch out the bottom groove that spin a ton. I play on inland links so probably low bounce more suited.
@@charlieblake5823 If you're having success then sure but I've seen the best in the world turn to higher bounce wedges and hit proper nippers

yes but you want width on your lobber for the thick sand in the traps. Open Championship bounce is always so personal for the top level guys

i had to bite the big bullet had to go bigfoot as i am way to steep with my wedges.
