Your advice is slowing helping me break out of my shell. I have only been on twitch for 3 months at this point and your content has been the most helpful in setting up my stream and dialing in my settings. Now that I have a decent looking stream (thanks to your free glitch overlay) I am working on breaking out of my shell. SHAZAM! LOL! I've been watching your videos a lot as I continue to grow over on Twitch and honestly the biggest issue I deal with is getting discovered and getting people to engage. I'm always talking, my titles are pretty solid, and my microphone and video presentation are great! I also have a Discord too. But at the moment I'm stuck in between games and I'm not sure exactly what to play. Maybe that's what's stunting my growth? I appreciate the advice and the constant videos mate! It's a huge help!

Shazam! Your videos are really helping!! Went from 50 followers a week ago to 70 already! The puns in your titles tip was great from one of your other videos xD
Shazam!.. Thanks for some of the input. I'm still very slow at engaging conversation with people. I've been so used to not talking much that it gets very challenging for me to talk. I think the good thing about content creating is learning your weaknesses and trying to make them better. Even if my channel grows slowly I'm just happy to be apart of the content creating community.
I started streaming properly about a month ago and came across your videos last week and have been thoroughly enjoying going through your content, its been very eye opening and informative, kudos to you! Shazam ⚡
SHAZAM !!...I suck at streaming as I have only done like two weeks or so, but I find your videos very appealing and cant wait for more .. thank you so much:)
I was gonna wait for if/when I got bigger to make a discord, but this makes a ton of sense. My only hesitation is that I'm help run a couple discords already that majority of my audience is in, and they're not really focused on the content I make. I don't want to add my go live notifications there because they're not like my places, but I am also not positive they'd be interested in another discord that is majority the same people. Oh yeah and Shazam btw.
Hmmm that is very tough, I think you should make one and see how it goes honestly. If you help run other discords, they are for something else, and you can build a fun stream focused discord with stream specific memes, etc inside it. It will be harder for you but still valuable to have it in the long run I think. People will also appreciate you not adding off topic content to the other discords. #earlygang
Damn! Quality tips as always, Eljay! Quality like this puts the movie Shazam to shame ;) Will work to implement them! And keep up the great streams man

My go lives are so lame 😂😂 this video was great. I have literally ONE consistent viewer/chatter and I have ideas that I think would be great to do in my stream but I need to get more people watching, I’m so worried about looking like a tryhard poser with only one chatter 😂😂 I’m going to start amping up my go lives because I’m fully aware that they are not engaging but I never really considered that they could be extremely helpful with viewership. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS! Oh yea, SHAZAM!!
Man! Yet another awesome video, your videos have really helped me, and I think I'm just held back by games costing so much money. But thanks for all the support and great tips so far Keep it up Eljay! (Shazam)
I recently found your channel a few weeks ago and your videos have been so helpful! I myself am a variety streamer, and I've been learning a lot about how to engage people more in chat, so this is super super useful! I will definitely be implementing some of your tips into my stream prep! Thank you! (Also Shazam 😊)
Go Lives are probably the most difficult thing for me to master. I should outsource that task lol. It's funny that you mention how people are more likely to click on a live notification in discord than Twitch. I am definitely one of those people. I think the only time I'll click on a Twitch notification is if it's from a streamer that's been MIA for a bit. P.S. Shazam! I'm one of the cool kids now, yeah?
The COOLEST of kids! Please accept these complementary badges, first your badge for being here early, #earlygang, and now your rarer badge for watching the whole video! #100%Crew And honestly, Go Lives are a skill like anything else! Just takes practice!
After six months I'm still trying to find "my" niche, but that's okay. But: Thanks for your videos! I'll try to implement your tipps in my upcoming streams. And, of course: SHAZAM!
Good luck mate! Sometimes it’s as easy as finding a category you like and you can be discovered in. ALSO! Please accept your badge! The #100%Crew badge is yours, wear it proudly!
All great advice, I'm blessed that i do play a wide variety of games on stream with a large theme to horror related games. My course audience of about a avg of 8-11 follow me and i see a lot of regular viewers in chat. They often have said they come more for me over the content and its a plesant supprise. I find im slow on exposure but abnormally high on audience retention.
@@StreamScheme not terribly so, the games i play often have larger streamers but not by incredible margins. I tend to pick games i like where i fit in the top 1-5 rows in the category
On the topic of America food... im telling man cinnamon toast crunch is the way to go for breakfast cereals 😂 but on the topic of the video my go lives always unique each stream that i do depending on the content for the day. Keep up the great work 👍🏼
Ah yes, that marshmallow and potato dish is called Candied Yams. It's actually Marshmallows, brown sugar, maple syrup and usually cut sweet potatoes, not mashed but eh whatever people like I guess? Anyways, I only really see that dish for thanksgiving and christmas. It's hella sweet but honestly very good, especially when hot! Food aside, another video that was super informative and helped me see things that I probably wouldn't have been able to figure out for a loooong time lmao. Always appreciate when these videos pop up in my feed! Also #earlygang
So much sugar! My stomach couldn't take it hahaha I have to try it next charity event! Glad the video was helpful though, Lunar! :) I appreciate the kind words as well! Hopefully I can keep it up! I am sure you'd smash it even without my content though! #earlygang
@@StreamScheme Bro trust me mine can hardly handle more than a couple spoonfuls but I def would give it a try! Would especially be an interesting charity goal c: Ah right, I forgot I use this old account, I actually go by Spook or SarcasticSpook! I just.. forget to swap to it a lot. But ye I always appreciate the insight and while I may have been able to do it on my own after a time, it's still always good to get that other perspective of those that experience it too and learn! Keep up the good work my guy!
@@StreamScheme haven't tried yet, but I was planning on saying " X is underrated and better than your waifu" and X being the weakest character in the game. Been bingewatching your channel once again today at work, summing up 15 videos 💪 (and took notes) Early gang is just a bonus on top ♥ Thank you very much Eljay! Edit: SHAZAM!!
Shazam! Also, people ask me how to get started with streaming (even tho I have a small audience and follower count) and I always direct them here! Love the videos you’ve helped so much!!
Shazam! I'm trying to keep my chin up and follow these steps but it can be rough out there for a new streamer. On the bright side! I've gained 16 followers in the past 30 days, and my past few streams have had average viewership of 3+. Not exactly meteoric growth, but it's progress for a sub 50 follower streamer, and that feels good.
It can be really hard starting out, but with smart strategies and consistent hard work then you'll see solid growth :) Please accept this #100%Crew badge! Shazam!
love this channel! really motivating me to get into streaming :). just needa get better wifi, got like 10min delay even with 360p and 1000 bitrate 😩. in the meantime ill learn as much as i can tho WOO
I'm at 17 followers with 2 average viewers I'd like to see this closer to 17 average fewers. I'm focused on Digimon and Pokemon trading card games. I think the biggest thing for me is nailing down the solid schedule so I'm applying to a different job where I don't have to worry about my schedule changing every week.
Shazaam! I started my discord at 30ish followers and 2 average viewers. Since then I've become affiliated as well as have grown my discord to 34 wonderful people. If you gain nothing else from his video please at least take away the need to make a discord it is a fun and also layed back way to further interact with your viewers as you don't have to worry about being infront of a camera😄
Shazam! That was some great info! Thanks for a great video. I've been trying to be more creative stream titles and Go Lives, now I have more fuel for the fire. 🔥
So glad the video helped, I have another video all about titles as well that might help! Thanks for the kind words! Please accept this #100%Crew badge! Shazam!
The biggest move is Just Chatting for at least an hour+ before you play games. I proved that among all my streamer friends, yet they continue to just instantly start their stream already into a game wondering why they get a max 8 viewers
@@StreamScheme True. It's been my thing though since the beginning with my viewers. They know I will chat from 7-9, then everyone piles in for Warzone customs after. Because I build rapport with everyone, they have no problem hanging out after even if they don't care for Warzone
@@StreamScheme thank you!!! I appreciate the time and attention you give to all your content. Gives me and my Aussie Land Twitch pals someone to look up to!
Interesting tip about the Discord. I always assumed I was too small to make it worthwhile, but maybe I should consider it after all. (And Shazam, if that helps you, Eljay.)
Thanks again for a great video! Helped a lot with setting up my next go lives notifications! I was wondering, do you think that doing the just chatting segment after the game could work too? I kinda like, as a personal preference, to unwind with chat after playing the game (especially since I play horror games every friday so I like relaxing a little after it).
I actually REALLY like it, but I do it a different way. I usually bust out something chill to play, like Animal Crossing or something that feels daily or light, then just relax. I want to do normal chatting as well but have just been in a format that doesn't work for it lately! #earlygang by the way! :)
@@StreamScheme Thanks for the insight! And this sounds fun too haha, I'm pretty big on just chatting because I really really like interacting with viewers and just chatting snippets help a lot with that :DD I have your notifs on discord hehe ;) #earlygang
Hey, I have a question for you. If I want to start having chatting segments at the beginning of streams, how should I approach it when I don’t use or have a facecam. Like how should the visuals be for that.
I am not him but maybe I could help. Try adding a picture of yourself into the stream maybe even put an overlay around it. Also open up youtube and put up a video that maybe you want to talk about. So like that your stream has something on the screen to start off with, hope this helps you!
@@skudz_ alright thanks. I don’t show my face at all, so I probably won’t use the first option, but I will definetly look into reacting to content, or talking about videos and stuff
I'm sure you've answered this before but what mic filters do you use for your streams? Your voice sounds so loud and clear and i cant seem to get my settings right
I have a whole video showing my set up when I started and how to get it sounding clean, I recommend checking that out! :) These days I have a very expensive setup so I don't think you'd be able to match it perfectly but you can do a lot if you go watch that other video.
People need to believe the discord part. I was streaming Skyrim to 4-5 people. “I don’t need a discord” I thought. Well a guy stopped by and tried to walk me through a glitch which wouldn’t been way easier in a discord voice channel. I made a server that night.
Shazam. That said, thank you for all of the great content and help. You truly make this experience a lot better/easier for a ton of people. Thank you. Truly, thank you.
Shazam! Thanks for another insightful video, definitely lots to take away. I’ve been playing lots of different games each week, some with friends and some solo. Would you say I should be playing one game for more time and then move on or is it okay to switch games each stream etc?
Yeah, I do say you should focus a niche to grow your core, sometimes switching a lot can make it harder for people to come back because what they followed for isn't being streamed, and they aren't invested in you as a creator yet! also, please accept these complementary badges, first your badge for being here early, #earlygang, and now your rarer badge for watching the whole video! #100%Crew
Sweet! Thanks for the reply. I’ll readjust my schedule to provide longer on each game, I think I got a bit reactionary to when numbers were low for a game rather than giving it time to find my place in the category.
Been taking all your advice and also planning my go lives in a spreadsheet for different games and titles to go with them and Shazam I'm already getting followers and people asking for more details when I haven't even been able to go live yet 😭
@@StreamScheme Definitely given me things to think about, I want to start planning better content and this is a great viewport to use 🙌🏻 Ooh, badges. And they're SHINY??? Duuuude!
so is a variety streamer one that streams a lot of content, or just someone who isn’t focusing solely on gameplay? along with growing viewers is so difficult hopefully some of this works lol
Don't know if your still helping out small streamers or not but I took your advice in alot of areas and my viewership went up last stream... Can you give me advice on lighting? Like is it good already or bad and needs work? Same name for yt as it is on twitch.. if not ty for all the videos.. they are super helpful
I made mine at 20 - 25 average viewers so about 100 - 300 followers, it was after about 20 days of streaming. Not sure that helps, but that is about where I went for and it worked well for me :)
Great stuff, but a question for you. What happens if when I go live most of my viewers haven't quite filtered in to the stream yet? I've noticed if I try to have a little bit of a just chatting segment in the start of the stream, most of my usual crew isn't there and it's mostly me talking to myself and not chat. Thanks!
It is tough, every stream is different but in that case I’d say you’re still in the stage of building your core audience and fostering a chat centric community. Keep going, and make the shift once you feel ready :)
Is streaming Minecraft speedruns good? I read everything in chat as well, but will I get discovered very well? Also what are some good ideas for go lives for speedruns
Hey Eljay, I haven't seen this clearly explained before, but what are "users in chat"? We always have a bunch of users in chat, but less "viewers". We just don't understand how some can be in chat but not viewing. Any thoughts on what they are doing that causes them to be in the users in chat list but not a viewer? Shazam!
I wouldn't bother looking at it :) There are HUNDREDS of users who are bots designed to collect data across Twitch for sites like Twitchtracker to help correctly track things like how many streamers are live, what percentage of streamers have 5 or more viewers, etc, etc. Then on the other the other hand if you are like me, and thousands of other people we hide ourselves from users in chat. It is a slow list, that is rarely accurate, and really doesn't help much. #earlygang

It will be harder for you but still valuable to have it in the long run I think. People will also appreciate you not adding off topic content to the other discords. #earlygang
#earlygang lets go, great vid man!
Hello hello, Viru5! Please accept this #earlygang badge, for you to keep!
@@StreamScheme thanks man, ill wear it with pride!

Took way to long to find this amazing movie reference in chat #shazam
I get so excited every time I get a follower, I can’t wait until I become an affiliate!!! Thanks for the video mate!
Good luck, Jay! :) Hope the videos help, you got this! Please accept this PURE diamond encrusted badge! #100%crew SHAZAM!
Another banger video from my favorite Australian content creator! Keep it up Eljay! 👍 P.S. Shazam!
Hello hello, thank you for the kind words! Have a lovely day and please take your badges here is your #earlygang AND the RARE #100%Crew badges!
Just realized I didn't post my last go live. It was "Big gaming gamer plays games quite gamingly"
My last go live was: "What happens if you combine a GC with nice weather? Come and find out!" This one did better than my usual ones.
Glad it did better! Keep it up!
Man! Yet another awesome video, your videos have really helped me, and I think I'm just held back by games costing so much money. But thanks for all the support and great tips so far Keep it up Eljay! (Shazam)
Thanks Hydra! I appreciate the kind words! Hope the videos keep helping mate! Please accept your badge! The #100%Crew badge is yours, wear it proudly!

Go Live's have been a big trouble for me tbh, so I was wondering when this video would drop. SHAZAM here it is!
Dennis, not only are you #earlygang but you're also #100%Crew! Killing it!

All great advice, I'm blessed that i do play a wide variety of games on stream with a large theme to horror related games. My course audience of about a avg of 8-11 follow me and i see a lot of regular viewers in chat. They often have said they come more for me over the content and its a plesant supprise. I find im slow on exposure but abnormally high on audience retention.
I wonder if it is a category issue, are you competing with a lot of larger streamers?
@@StreamScheme not terribly so, the games i play often have larger streamers but not by incredible margins. I tend to pick games i like where i fit in the top 1-5 rows in the category
The tips from these videos are some of the best on UA-cam for streamers. Thank you again, KING
Appreciate that! I think Gaming Careers is personally way better than me hahaha BUT I really do appreciate the kind words! :) #earlygang
On the topic of America food... im telling man cinnamon toast crunch is the way to go for breakfast cereals 😂 but on the topic of the video my go lives always unique each stream that i do depending on the content for the day. Keep up the great work 👍🏼
Isn't it JUST sugar in cereal form though?! How do you not crash after 30 minutes? #earlygang
@@StreamScheme im just built different eljay. Alpacas dont crash after some sugar 😂

It can be really hard starting out, but with smart strategies and consistent hard work then you'll see solid growth :)

Thanks, this was exactly what I needed right now! I've been struggling to figure out what to say in these and now I have plenty of ideas.

The biggest move is Just Chatting for at least an hour+ before you play games.
I proved that among all my streamer friends, yet they continue to just instantly start their stream already into a game wondering why they get a max 8 viewers
You have to make the transfer carefully as well, but it is CRUCIAL to do it if you want to grow :)
@@StreamScheme True. It's been my thing though since the beginning with my viewers. They know I will chat from 7-9, then everyone piles in for Warzone customs after.
Because I build rapport with everyone, they have no problem hanging out after even if they don't care for Warzone

And this sounds fun too haha, I'm pretty big on just chatting because I really really like interacting with viewers and just chatting snippets help a lot with that :DD

These days I have a very expensive setup so I don't think you'd be able to match it perfectly but you can do a lot if you go watch that other video.
People need to believe the discord part. I was streaming Skyrim to 4-5 people. “I don’t need a discord” I thought. Well a guy stopped by and tried to walk me through a glitch which wouldn’t been way easier in a discord voice channel. I made a server that night.
It is just a good tool to have! No matter what! :) #earlygang

Great vid! Shazamming some of my most pressing questions right now.
Glad I could help! Honestly heck yeah! Please accept this #100%Crew badge! Shazam!

So what video of yours do I look for if I’m streaming on a consistent schedule , playing games weeks at a time but not getting any new followers ?

I started doing discord go lives before you even told me to and it is very helpful
They work well!
How soon would you create a discord? Day 1 or when you have a set amount of average viewers?
I made mine at 20 - 25 average viewers so about 100 - 300 followers, it was after about 20 days of streaming. Not sure that helps, but that is about where I went for and it worked well for me :)
@@StreamScheme Thanks for the super quick reply! Much appreciated :)
That you for all your great tips! It really helps me grow when I’m streaming
Happy to help! Good luck! Hope this video helps as well! #earlygang
@@StreamScheme Good point! Thanks for the reply, loving the content.
Is streaming Minecraft speedruns good? I read everything in chat as well, but will I get discovered very well? Also what are some good ideas for go lives for speedruns
Depends on the content and how you treat it :)
Shazam!
I wouldn't bother looking at it :)
There are HUNDREDS of users who are bots designed to collect data across Twitch for sites like Twitchtracker to help correctly track things like how many streamers are live, what percentage of streamers have 5 or more viewers, etc, etc.
Then on the other the other hand if you are like me, and thousands of other people we hide ourselves from users in chat.
It is a slow list, that is rarely accurate, and really doesn't help much. #earlygang
@@StreamScheme ah fair enough. But how it is possible to get on someone's chat but not be watching?
Great tips as usual, ty!
Heck yeah! Hope it helped mate! :) #earlygang
