The next marble dropping test should be a livestream. I'd just sit there and listen to that drum beat for hours on end
That would have been awesome! Great idea!
yo! great idea!
PLEASE MARTIN this is such a good idea
Yessss
Especially when we all know that Martin can't just sit there and watch the marbles drop...
Martin, as a firefighter I have to beg you to have a fire extinguisher by your side while welding. If for some reason the machine catches fire and the fire department has to intervene, I don't know what is going to destroy the MMX first, the fire itself or water damage!
yeah, CO2 extinguisher would be great to extinguish early fires without doing harm to the machine.
And bear in mind the snowflakes like me watching this (for almost four years) having nightmares of a burning MMX
I think that work bench has a fire extinguisher and fire blanket mounted on the side.
@@RudolfByker I've seen the fire blanket before, but not the fire extinguisher. Let's hope it's there and ready to go!
Well I can say one thing for sure, it is one hot machine
"Wait... what am I doing... I'm supposed to be welding."
Doesn't bother me; Martin can just "do Martin" and I'm happy!
Well, if he went out for a couple rounds of F1 racing, for example, I would've been worried, but these are musical instruments and Martin is a musician after all. ;)
You’ve gotta love this guy 😂 I truly hope I can see him live.
Literally my favorite moment, never change Martin
And this is what I absolutely love about Martin. You can just see the inspiration, joy for creativity, and absolute genius flowing out from him. He can chase squirrels all day long and it would be wonderful to watch.
Lol "it's Wednesday every day!"
It definitely feels like that now
I made a comment that expressed a similar shot on the last video, I wonder if that had anything to do with it 🤔 (because I'm likely the only one that did, right? ;p)
Who needs weekend when we have Wintergantan Wednesdays everyday. 😁👍
:D
To be fair, it felt like that since the beginning of the pandemic. But this is a better reason!
Wintergatan Weekdays!
Customer: Why does it look like that?
Engineer: Because it works.
Flashbacks to when I delivered a project to a customer who complained about there being "too many screws"...
Its funny because 80% of the machine was made with aesthetics in mind
Me: Let's see if he can make this marble thing work
My 4 year old daughter: Of course he can! He's the smartest guy in the galaxy!
AWWWWWWWWWW >w
*Han ar den smartesten mannen i Wintergatan :)
That’s so cute!
You : " SECOND smartest honey... "
@@cyboticIndustries Right - can't forget about Elon Musk :P
Imagine being able to just whip up an incredible song like that at a moments notice
Honestly the part where he gets excited about his instruments and gets distracted showing them off is so adorable
The motto during Quarantine
"its Wednesday every day"
my dudes
I neeeed this song u play at the end!!!!!!
Have you thought about painting the metal programming sheets black (and keeping the pins uncolored)? I think it would look amazing (like a night sky),
Have to agree. The existing black drum and silver pegs really work for me aesthetically.
Like... VINTERGATAN!
The Marble Machine that reads Star Metal
I came here to post this exact comment. Completely agree.
5:57 The little glitch here is pretty amazing.
This is a tiny glimpse into what this machine can do. Amazing to see after years of watching. Great week Martin!
Martin: "Let me show you all the steps to weld things."
Martin: shows me lots of instruments.
Martin: "See? No tools here... Toy Typewriter, such a good song! *jams*.... Oh. Yes. Welding. Right. Many steps to weld. Many steps indeed."
Martin: "Marie Kondo: Amazing. She taught me: tools need a home."
Also Martin: Uses a 2x4 to make way for the tool of the day.
You are my spirit animal, Martin.
I just love how real Martin is. He is just himself in the most perfect way. True talent. :)
This new channel and the main channel have been carrying my UA-cam timeline for years
When the tape caught fire he probably tried to blow it out while wearing his mask. I know I would have :)
I believe he mentioned trying that in some earlier video.
hahah one of my acquaintance's tried to blow out a match like that, it took a few breaths to figure out why the space is warping around the flame before he realized that he was wearing a visor
Ending makes me super happy and proud. That Song needs to Be released full download!
This is the content I originally subscribed for and I love that there is now a lot of building process videos on the second channel!
Same, I love these daily uploads! So much damn content to just suck up
couldn't agree more, so happy!!
Its very fun, and soo nice of Martin, that he shows us the process of the building
13:45 That sound alone is somehow incredibly satisfying and beautiful 🎶
It is Frihat Friday my dudes...
Missed your comments my dude
Indeed it is my fellow friend!
And it is a joyful day indeed
my dude! Frihat Friday it is!
@@remyremy8411 :D
you remind me of my humanity. feels like I'm watching a long time friend sharing his isolation with his long time friend Wilson. Stoked to see more of the mmx. Thank you for all the years of goodness. I cannot wait for the opportunity to see your music and craft live.
The historical context of this machine is significant
I love that these are always showing up right at my lunch break.
Funny time zones for me and Martin its the evening 😂
They also show up at my launch Break
I just went to sleep 😅
I feel like the pace has really been great since the beginning of the dropper redesign. I wonder if the next video on the main channel will be playing 200k marbles :p. I mean at this point, with 6 programming channels and the "fixed" funnels, I reckon it's doable at the desired efficiency.
Next main channel vid will be infinite marbles. will upload as soon as the test is complete
@@RoamingAdhocrat No. That will be a livestream with weekly special guests playing along to the beat.
This is not what I'm supposed to be doing, welding...... LETS LOOK AT ALL MY INSTRUMENTS xD I love you man.
Says he needs to upload less in order to focus and finish the machine. Two months later.... DAILY UPLOADS. Martin is too good to us.
gotta respect his process
Less of the longer videos that often are more time consuming to produce than these shorties. And it seems like he needs this to get things done, as it gives him a reason to submit time to working on this project despite all the other stuff that drags him away from it.
And his working desk is a mess, so all those ideas about having a tidy place = a tidy mind did not work. :D
@@64jcl Would you want to run around, fetching a frequently used tool from it's place and put it back after every single use?
The place where you are working is meant to be a mess, in the way that you have all the tools you need an arm's lenght away from you.
@@Timberwolf69 , well he did dedicate a full episode to the zen of a tidy workplace a while back, that is really why I mentioned it. I guess both ways has their advantages. If you don't get stressed from a messy workplace then all good, but some people possibly feels less motivated and "carpe diem" when they come the next day to a messy workplace. :)
Honestly, Martin getting distracted by his musical instruments made me so happy- Martin you talk so so much about being focused and getting things done, don't feel bad for enjoying yourself too!!!! Your passions why so many people say "I believe," so don't loose that!!
10:12 when you just look in the middle of the marbles, it looks like the marble teleports up
That's because it does. Why'd you have to expose Wintergaten's classified research on teleportation?!?
"oh man, there are so many steps for this welding processes. here come check out these welding that im gonna do... ooOO music things, wait check out this music.... oh wait, i need to be welding oh also did you see my toys? wait, no. we need to weld, and check out this song i made with the junk laying on the floor. wait, what was i doing? oh yeah rearranging my living room."
I feel this video so much. Martin basically just made a video showing exactly why my chores are never done.
aight, that outro music was amazing!
YES, please sample some of your instruments whenever you get the time for it, even if it wouldnt be released as full sample libraries, just having the samples in a folder for us to make instruments out of ourselves would be awesome!
You have such an interesting collection of instruments so it would be amazing to be able to use sounds from them!
Finally, absolutely loving the Daily videos, keep it up Martin, big fan from Värmland!
"let's make some space"
Finally I learned a new method of tidying my desk; I will need to try this.
Biggest scandals in history,
1. Watergate
2. Gamergate
3. Marblegate
Now remember there's a team of volunteers watching these videos and having to guesstimate Martin's changes to fit in a new CAD model for the 2nd MMX
Well done Martin. Must say I'm an engineer and love your build progress but its when you add your musical expertise when it just becomes magical. It's gonna be a good 2021, we believe!
The smile on my face when I start hearing a new instrument on the Marble Machine X gets SO BIG!!!
13:46 i LOVE that song!
The song at the end is fantastic! ❤️😃
Yes! What is the name of that song and where can we buy it :D ?
Martin: "I'm going to show you every step but I don't have a lot of time right now"
Also Martin: "Let's make a song from a typewriter"
Only Martin. - Great progress. I am glad you settled over the Funnels. I wondered if we'd be stuck on them for the rest of the year. They are just one part of an amazing machine which plays - even in this building phase - such tight music... Loved the applied simplicity of the copy / paste for the Marble release gates.. Getting the HiHat working was a great ending to the week. Roll on next week!
Martin explaining the gate working: "Wilson! pay attention now."
9:49
You're so funny. ^^
9:20 "this old thing used to be bright white!" 😂
You're missing out on lots of views by posting this to a second channel. Either way, I love to see this stuff!
Name something more satisfying than watching a mechanical drum solo on this beast of a machine...
The amount of engineering in this thing makes my smooth brain feel smoother
The music at the end is so great, just loving it ! 🥰
So happy to have seen those 5 videos during this week, what a great job you have done on the Marble Machine X Martin, and a great job from Hannes about the editing videos... This music you already let us heard on another episode in the end is fantastic, I love it
I absolutely adore the score in the end. When I first heard it in the latest marble machine video, it gave me goosebumbs.
I loved how Martian said that welding the marble gates to the pivots was the final commitment. That has never stopped him before.
Just to say I loved the tour of the instruments. I know the focus right now needs to be on the MMX but I do love the music content and other stuff. You have to have a bit of fun too.
such a good vibe ! thx Martin, thx Hannes 😊
It will be so emotional to hear and see the MMX play the original marble machine song.
That bit of drums at the end put a big smile on my face to see it working so well. We have never been closer to seeing it be done than right now. I cant wait
Excited to see this in the new test! Thanks for the daily videos Martin!
"Welding...is always scary, because this is like the final commitment to this position."
**angle grinder has entered the chat**
This thing will be in a museum someday... It's legitimately a wonder of human creativity!
It never fails to make me laugh, "Wilson, pay attention!"
It feels SO GOOD to finally see the hit hat on the machine! Keep at it Martin, this is great!!!!
Happy to see that you’re having so much fun this week, Martin! I have always appreciated the story of the process behind your work. Wintergatan 2 seems to let you move forward a little more quickly as you aren’t focussing on making a major achievement prior to the next video, but rather telling the story of the day’s efforts, and then moving on the next day. You really do seem to have sorted out a working technology behind the marble tubes/drops, and it’s great that it can replicate from one channel to the next. It feels like you are getting closer and closer to the music! Moving the Instruments upstairs so that you can take a break and make some notes now and then seems to be a great idea. MMX is approaching the home stretch!
Watching Martin show his instruments gave me that warm fuzzy Mr. Roger's Neighborhood feel that I had as a child.
It's so nice having Martin in my loungeroom for a chat every day 👍😀⭐️
Hi-hats off to you Martin for your awesome videos.
I need chords (hopefully with exact guitar fingerings) of the outro song! Amazing work Martin, it's all coming together!
i'm so glad im not the only one that notices a lot of kids instruments have really beautiful sounds! i love when artists incorporate them into music
I love your instrument closet! And I love when you get distracted with making little tunes instead of welding. I would also get distracted for hours with all those toys.
Love so much when the ambient sound stops and the background music starts :) :) :) Sadly for now it doesnt last long but I know it will in near future!! Keep up the amazing job and PLEASE improvise something while you do the next marble test
I don't think "over rotation" actually does anything for the tunnels' pressure. If the marbles aren't moving this is a static forces problem. No motion, no rotation, no "over rotation". Even when they are moving I'd guess they're sliding more than they are rolling (while they're being pushed by marbles behind them).
Well put. I knew something wasn't right but I didn't know how to explain it properly.
Martin demonstrating how he procrastinates. Keep going, we are with you!
Martin: "I'm really in a hurry but I want to show you all the steps"
Also Martin: "Here's a leisurely tour of my musical instrument room"
Ah the joys of ADHD 😂 Happens to me all the time too Martin. I start something then I get sidetracked and start doing something else only to realize I was working on something and then when I go back to the original thing I was working in I get sidetracked again. 👍👍
You should ad a pin that opens and closes the hi-hat
I'm loving the daily videos and am really happy to see that you are having so much fun and progressing so quickly!
WINTERGATAN WEEKDAYS!!!!
I've been realizing lately that the MMX is certainly a nearly all-encompassing DAW, just without the D.
Truly inspiring as always, Martin; all the love and support from this guy!
Your videos are a blessing!!! Love your daily uploads!
As catchy as "It's Wednesday every day" is, proposed channel name to Wintergatan Weekdays
This machine is bonkers and I'm so excited to watch it's progress and finally see it finished
No idea how you get through so much in a day, with all the setting up, recording and editing on top of all the crafting and design process... And then a bit of music making in the mix too! Delighted you're happy and enjoying making these!
lol, i was just wonderin when u were gone upload, funny coincidence. love your & your work!
The welding fire makes me scared for what would happen if a fire started as Martin's studio - especially with it seemingly in such a quiet place
Fire extinguisher is a must have. On positive note, TIG is quite a clean process. High amounts of UV rays, ozone and almost no red hot metal sparks or smoke.
Sadly, I and my chinesium TIG, we manage to create spectacular craters and explosions of molten metal when welding steel/iron. Aluminium and stainless, that usually works out.
Always I am grateful to be along for your creative journey. Martin, your ingenuity and patient determination is more than inspiring. Thank you to infinity and beyond 💖
that #2 funnel marble drop.....DUDE! that look'd and sounded so cool.
I JUST got out of work and i see this. Thank GOD
IT'S WEDNESDAY EVERY DAY THIS WEEK M'DUDES
To see the drum trio again at work brought a smile on my face. Thanks so much!
These videos are the pretty much the reason why i tuned in around Building the MMX #15. Love these raw and hand on build vids! Definitely main channel quality.
At this rate, Wintergatan 1 will be abandoned
I do love the daily, chill vids, but don’t feel like you have to make one every day. If you don’t wanna make a vid one day, don’t. We get it.
This second channel should be called "Wintergatan Workshop" !
I just love to see these not-so-produced, more direct Videos 😊
It's great to know that these videos are helping you get more done. I think they're working as a classic commitment device - you feel accountable to keep up the habit of making progress every day. James Clear would be pleased!
I wont dare to understand the stress and hardships you have been under with this project, but I believe 95% of the subscribers on your main channel would love these videos as well. I also understand you have to control your public image and only want to publish the best content to your main vier group. Please make sure you announce this channel to your main group so they can watch if they want. I only found channel this by accident.
i really like that track at the end of the video is that something that you're gonna be releasing at some point?
That guitar intro in the song in the end was a little everyday astronaut ish
Awesome drum beat from the machine👽 love it
That graphite is getting everywhere. It's all over the drums.
when the tape caught on fire martin was like "oh"
...And I was thinking: "please Martin, don't burn down the all damn plywood machine now "
I have absolutely no experience at welding so I conforted myself with Martin self confidence. : /
4:01 is that the vibraphone from Detektivbyran on the right?
It could be!
First I was mad because there was a whole batch of marble machine videos that I had missed. Then I was glad because there was a whole batch of unseen marble machine videos that I get to watch. Finally I was sad because there is only 4 of them. But now I am just happy to have more fabrication videos to learn from!
Heck yeah! I want to reiterate that I support the solid, non-moving funnels, so for whatever it's worth, I wanted to reassure you that it was a good move. Thank you for pressing on, you're getting there, bit by bit, and we're proud of you, Martin!!
I really dont understand why he cant post these videos on the main channel? This is what we signed up for on the main channel anyway, right?
He built himself a higher standard for the main channel. Which isn't necessarily our same standard, we both believe this is great content that would fit well, but he wants main videos to be more elaborate and scripted and with more progress
I believe these are intended to be casual daily updates. The other videos are more produced and are for bigger accomplishments and/or troubleshooting adventures. Whatever helps motivate Martin and keeps him from burning out I am for. His vision so he can communicate it how he wants
@@wldiss5122 Also I deeply respect anyone who manages to set a certain standard for themselves and don't want to "ruin" that, but still managing to do other type of more relaxed content
Yup.. I see.. Well, I dont mind him posting here, but thought it was worth asking
5:57 the camera reveals the real feeling of martin when he thinks about the things he must do to complete the MMX
I genuinely love this new video format. We’re getting to see all the nitty gritty details like the early videos. I love seeing the minutia of the MMX, each connection, the control you gave over each part etc.
As a touring engineer, seeing you explain why you write SR on your boxes, and the pride you took in making sure your setup was good and quick for the stagehands made me very happy. And also sad that we can’t tour and bring joy to everyone right now. Soon. Soon with the machine as well!
