This time around we will not have to travel half way around the world to fight for our freedom. The enemy is already amongst us! Great ride. Just sealed the deal on a new T100 in exchange for my beloved HD Low Rider. Thanks.
Did this route on my Classic 350 (doing a bit of research on my ancestry, some of whom lived at Middlesmoor and near Ramsgill) a few weeks back, lovely area.
Morning Dave, what a lovely day you had and on your Moto Guzzi to boot👍🏻 a wise man once said to me “ every trip on a motorcycle ends with a story “ after I thought about it I concluded he was right 👍🏻 looking forward to part two 😊 carry on that man Caio for now tat ta 👍🏻
Good morning Dave from Down East Maine. One of the most rural regions of New England. Great to see Yorkshire scenery, very different from the almost continuous Acadian forests of home. Must be nice to be able to see around a corner.
@@thebingleywheelerthe MG V 7 has hydraulic valve adjustment and shaft drive. All you have to do is change the fluids and filter in 30 minutes in the driveway. Say Hi to Eddie.
I reckon 90% of motorcyclists are silly old codgers. Younger folk can’t afford the bikes & insurance unfortunately. You have inherited your dad’s ability to wax lyrically, not a bad trait to have.
I downsized from a BMW R1200R to a Moto Guzzi V7 Stone Special Edition, three weeks ago. Since then, I've put 1000 miles on it, despite the weather frequently switching between wet and windy and dry but cold, and I've loved every minute! The engine has so much 'character' compared to the refined BMW. Running in involved not exceeding 4500rpm for 900 miles - not an issue as that's around 78mph and there's lots of torque at low revs. The only thing I missed from the BMW was heated handlebar grips (I live in the West of Scotland and I'm 64 = frozen digits as a daily occurence) so a pair from Ultimateaddons went on at the 900 mile service - very classy and the controller fits perfectly with the look of the bike. The only other thing I'm considering is a small screen to dial down the windblast at motorway speeds. Keep up the great work and keep talking 'bollocks' - your musings are both entertaining and often informative! 🙂
When l pestered my parents for a motorcycle..(had to get my father to sign the HP docs)..my mother was absolutely against it, when she did finally relent it was under the understanding that l wore a crash helmet...(other protective gear was a long way into the future)...The reason l believe, was her brother, formerly a RAF pilot died riding a motorcycle in 1950...Years later l believe she looked forward to hearing the soft Purr .... as she called it...of my BMW R100 RS turning into the street....From a sixties 'Rocker' to a 21 century 'Old Codger'... Its great being an 'Old Codger' riding a motorcycle...Thanks for the early morning ride Dave.. Greeting from España.
Congratulations on your riding career sir! My late uncle was a novice rocker on his tiger cub but after getting knocked off and breaking his leg he never rode again but encouraged me to ride instead.

I sure do love that Moto Guzzi Dave and the Triumph. Not really a Royal Enfield fan except for the older models of the 60's. Thanks for taking me along on your ride out with your mates. Cheers from the States. Ride safe as always bud.
Morning Dave, glad to see Andy got round his short cut lane corner without a van nearly pushing off the road ; it was close on our day .That was indeed a great start to our outing.I would love to see more vids of the scenery you are lucky enough to have on your doorstep but don’t stop too much of your over commentary - some of your phases are real classics ! Safe riding.Richard ( off to the Cotswolds this weekend with Malc)
Hi Richard, only hazard on that road, as Dave said, was the gravel although Gaz said he didn’t notice it on his Himalayan. Visited the Cotswolds last year, beauty without the ⛰
Your proposed modus operandi sounds interesting, Dave. Yes, the Guzzi is old school and all the better for it, with the engine design going back to the early '60's. Riding my '05 Breva 750 certainly puts a smile on my dial! I can relate to your Dad going around the place, prior to going to war. In the mid-60's I was posted to the Borneo Confrontation (a nice polite name for an undeclared war) and, having sold my car and bike so as not to maybe leave any loose ends for my parents to clean up, went hitching around the UK during my embarkation leave. Many good memories from that trip and, as soon as I was tour-ex and arrived back in the UK, I bought myself a new car (HB Viva SL) and a slightly used Honda CB77 followed shortly after. I really appreciated both and the bike in particular allowed me to revel in the special freedom that riding brings.
@@thebingleywheeler Thanks, Dave. That was my third lot of active, all by the time I was 20... I didn't have a great deal of option over it; in the Services, we go where the postings office sends us. 😁
I am an avid viewer of a long time now and this is because i get equal entertainment from your rides and your commentary. Please don't back off the chit chat.
Morning Dave, that was a wonderful route with great scenery. I was up at How Stean with my son a couple of Sundays ago but we went to Burnsall from there. Looking forward to part two. 👍
Dave your down to earth approach to the reviews or bikes and travels are very refreshing! We also have a group of between 3-5 old school mates ages 63-65 riding bikes since mid 1970s (Two stroke Japanese era). We hook up for coffee / breakfast at least once a week and proud to say PC awe are not! Bikes is the main focus and we live to get out and switch off from the modern world and the crap it contains! Sorry for the rant, and keep up the excellent review and ride outs! Cheers John P.S. Love the Guzzi V7 special but jut tow things the gear change does appear a bit clunky, (I’ve two BMW Boxers so used to that) and you mention the clutch is a bit hard ! Never ridden one but on my list of future bike. Also the only thing I do no like is that Guzzi new dash! Twin clocks like the older Guzzi models way better IMO.
Morning Dave. You are a lucky bugger to live amongst that beauty. I don't know if it's possible but if you do more of these rides (and I hope you do) is there a way of adding a route map? That way some of us non locals could find them because I for one would love to ride some of the routes but know from experience that there are loads of cracking but easy to miss roads in Yorkshire.
Good Morning Dave , I have to say the views are stunning plus being out with your mates its whats its all about , Dave i would like to see more of your rides out in the dales tbh (plus eddie )take care & ride safe
We all need to enjoy the roads around the Dales while we can , the current state of the roads across the region means it won't be long before we will need a full on Dakar Enduro bike to navigate them.😅
Eh up Dave! Another excellent video. I do prefer it when you talk "bollocks" 😂 it adds so much more to the entertainment value. Be it serious observation or light hearted chat it adds to the whole experience.
Cracking ride again Dave , and whenever my wife walks in the room when I'm watching any UA-cam vloggers, she does say "oh are you watching daft old bastards on bikes again?" 😂😂 , to which I reply, well you're married to one, and she rides her own bike as well ! 🤷♂️😂! Cheers Mel 🍻
Enjoyed Part1 Dave. Lovely ride over to Leighton Reservoir. Know what you mean about run off water on the roads; just ride through one and that’s the bike dirty for the rest of the ride; oh how we suffer for our art eh. Really looking forward to Part2. In Scotland there are repeated road signs instructing slow traffic to pull over and let other road users overtake. So we mustn’t feel guilty when confronted with selfish and ignorant road users. The presence of such signs clearly indicate the authorities are away that selfish and ignorant road users are mobile road safety hazards and their actions can be contributory factors in any RTI’s. Isn’t it driving without due consideration for other road users? Take care out there.
Since you asked - Yes, I for one would prefer to hear less about the state of the nation/world and more about the route you are taking, points of interest, places to stop for a nice cuppa, etc. Cheers
Great video of a great run, never get board of that road no matter how many times I do it. Where you thought you were tailgating, I was slowing to look at the work was being done to the old GPO microwave relay station. Anybody from round here, new average speed cameras appeared today on the Bingley by-pass 😢 Andy.
