We get tonnes of weird and wonderful #concept cars in the auto industry, but most of them are painted blocks of clay and rubber made pretty! Not the #MercedesBenz Vision #AVTR: it’s a fully working drivable EV concept car, with a WHOLE NEW way of driving the car, moving sideways and even DRIFTING!
The AVTR’s exterior was designed by Alex Dang, part of Gorden Wageners design team, and was inspired by the world of Jame’s Cameron’s AVATAR movies! It takes the idea of Humans merging with Nature and technology, and applies it to a 2+2 Mercedes sports car.
The wheels are balls, the rear has reptilian like scales, the whole car uses LED’s to convey what the car is doing, and the interior... a whole new idea on both multimedia, navigation and control.

Why do they think the future is going to have ugly cars like that? Do they think they are in the year 3500? The only good look about that car is the outside look, the tires are ugly, inside looks dumb. They ruin Mercedes for me. i rather buy BMWs and Audi even though they arnt good cars.
@@blue_frost0356 I agree wholeheartedly. I prefer the BMW M models, and I'm having a great deal of fun with my M5. Got a wee bit overenthusiastic, and got completely embarrassed by a Dodge Hellcat the other day, though 😂😂😂. What these concept designers fail to grasp is that most drivers will always desire the aesthetic feel of driving a motor vehicle. The exhaust note is one of the most satisfying features of performance vehicles. My older brother still owns an old mint condition '96 M5, and it drives beautifully, sounds great, and I would take it over the "mass transit" driving experience that you'll get from these electric monstrosities. I feel that the overall driving experience will be sacrificed for something less driver required. I hope the tech is safe.

I feel like a steering wheel gives you more control tho
not really. People are just more used to traditional steering wheels. I would even go as far that this actually gives you more direct control since you don't have to turn the steering wheel before the car reacts. This is really intuitive and basically a fancy joystick. If they are going for a similar design in future production cars i'd still prefer a real joystick though.
But... Didnt it felt worst tho why do people buy these racing simulator steering wheel, if joystick gives you more control?

what a lot of people forget is that this is a CONCEPT CAR. this is similar to those outfits you see in fashion shows. it's more about pushing the limits and seeing what is possible and what others can use for their own products. this would be the extreme, not the norm

Well isn't that a good thing? I feel like the steering control doesn't give enough stability to go really fast. Plus they would probably have to get training on driving this car really fast because of how different it is. Like imagine going over 100 mph and only using 1 hand to control the car.

It's a generational thing, this kind of car may be difficult for people used to steering wheels, but for future generations it will not be difficult for them as it would for us.
