There are a lot of smartphone gimbals out there, but the Zhiyun Smooth 4 and DJI Osmo Mobile 2 are perhaps the most talked about smartphone gimbals out there right now. They cost relatively the same and they both do the same thing. But I feel the Zhiyun Smooth 4 is better for filmmakers cause it manages to stabilize your phone better and the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 is better for people who want to go live because of its light weight design, easy to carry handle, and USB A out makes it easy to charge you're own phone.

Filmic Pro released support for Smooth 4 and it is awesome. I liked many hardware buttons that Smooth 4 provides over Osmo.
agree completely. I am just getting started in film making so am no expert, but have used filmic pro for some time and adding the gimbal to the mix has been great. Smooth 4 made was a great add ot the kit bag!

What is the meaning of the functions of the stabilizer if the application spoils the picture? It turns out that if you use Zhiyun Smooth 4 without your own application, you can not use all the functions. And if you use your native application, the picture will be worse. What then is the meaning compared to Dji 2 ?

We film natural sight and sound walks in cities using gopro hero 6 black and a zhiyun gimbal, and find the combination just right (you can see several films using this combination and also using our camera phone with the gimbal on our page if it's helpful?). When I use zhiyun Smooth4, the light on it usually turns from blue to pink, and then suddenly drops down in the process of shooting. I don't know whether it is in sleep mode or not. Even though the stabilizer is falling down, the buttons are still working every time. This often happens especially to interfere with filming. I don't know if anyone has had that experience and know how to fix it?

Wendy McIlroy Osmo works fine with A5 active. App is quite good too. Takes a minute or few to do 1st setup then it's all good

Hey do you still have that Tiffen Steadicam Volt? I sold mine, it wasn't built with durable plastic and was a hassle. At the same time when I got my Kickstarter all the other gimbals became cheaper.

when you want a simple and less button but superb performance go to dji osmo 2 but if you want a pro like features and many buttons to be used but the active tracking is a quite disappointing go to zhiyun smooth 4

I own the Osmo Mobile 2 and tried out the ZY Play app for a Zhiyun item which I returned.
I'd been unhappy with the Osmo off and on thinking it kept falling short. Funny how it takes seeing and experiencing something that's much worse to appreciate how good you've got it.
The DJI Go app wins big time.
The ZY Play wouldn't let me go beyond 720p. What's up with that!?? (for the Huawei P30).
The pano only appeared to do a straight line of images from left to right. No multi row options or 180 degree and such.
Timelapses? Horrible! Couldn't figure out how to set the starting and end points for a motionlapse.
Yet, the DJI Go? Does it (not perfectly) but brilliantly by comparison.
For Android users DJI Osmo 2 is more stable in terms of software. I returned my Smooth 4 and got the Osmo 2 and I couldn't be happier.
M Donald i just ordered the Osmo 2 also. Everytime i see these 2 gimbals go head to head the Osmo 2 KILLS the Smooth 4. Absolutely!
I also ordered a silicone rubber handle sleeve for the Osmo 2. Looking forward to using the Osmo 2.

Moncef Ben if you think you'd need the zoom feature of smooth 4, then smooth 4 otherwise smooth q. They both serve the same purpose just smooth 4 got some better features and costs a little more (39$ more I think). Extra tip : For gopro, smooth q is the best gimbal.

Moncef Ben keep in mind the zooming function on smooth q is terrible. if you're like me who wants a gimbal mainly for gopro and additionally to use with mobile sometimes, then go for smooth q and if you want a gimbal mainly for your smartphone then go for smooth 4 as it has done nice features. (btw i own a smooth q) but i would suggest that if you can pay 39$ extra then you solhould go for smooth 4 as it has that little tripod that will somewhat help in time lapses (in my opinion). So many stabilizers out there, you just need to choose one according to your preferences and deal with the shortcomings because every stabilizer has some 😉

Zhiyun Smooth 4 app does NOT SUPPORT 4K and the zoom is much less stable if you're using Samsung (Android).
Unfortunately I saw your video after the purchase, but as I heard I made the right decision ;)

No filmmaker would choice Zhiyun Smooth 4, cos it has not a joystick to pan and tilt. Osmo Mobile 2 is so much useful (even Zhiyun Smooth 3 and Zhiyun Smooth Q would be a great options). But Osmo Mobile 2 doesn't pan on 180° (Smooth Q pan on 360°!!)
Yayo they could always update the software so you can use the wheel to pan and tilt like the joystick
but legit filmmakers manually move to pan and tilt with the gimbal.

You missed one big important feature that DJI OSMO Mobile 2 does not have, a pan follow mode and which smooth4 does have.
Osmo does have pitch lock. So follow pan can be used easily if you know what to press in the menu. Works like magic.
What should I prees in the menu to use follow pan? I don't have this gimbal. I would like to
