  • Chris and Trait sit down with the king of kayaks, Rus Snyders, to discuss the differences in kayak fishing and bass boats from a guy who has won on both sides. As well as talk about his past as a Clearlake Bass Guide & an OG Big Bait film guy (before UA-cam took off), and why he left California to move to Tennessee and eventually sold his Ranger bass boat for a kayak.

Is kayak fishing growing fast than the UA-cam pond guys these days? Honest question

@@Zaldaingerous if it was 10 years ago i would say ponds. But personally I’ve experienced more and more ponds become private property or prohibited while the bass fishing grows. Kayaks allow someone to go to any public body of water that has a small public access. And the cost of entry is very low.

Trait & Chris - Out West we 100% know it. Bryant Smith just qualified for the Elites and has one interview to about 30 that Bradley Hallman or John Soukup have had. The guys out here who fish well entirely get that there is not a financial gain to be had strictly from tournaments, there are a few guys trying to get the ball rolling on circuits to help but quite frankly it seems there is never really a unified support. Hope it changes one day! Thanks for bringing it up on the show!

He fishes more than the rest of us and doesn’t spend any time working on his boat. He’s fishing out of a paddle sit on top basic kayak. The nobody that knows how to fish ever fished it places he fishes is a big factor.

I lived out there when I first started college. My my Mom was born in Southern California and her father’s side is all on the West Coast. My grandfather lived in San Francisco. Me saying Cali is jacked up isn’t because I took something personal, it’s really heart breaking because anglers trying to make it in fishing out there have no clue that they are only spinning their wheels. Moreover, what the state’s government has done to hamper bass fishing is mind blowing and in my opinion, straight robbery of its anglers. Hence why so many trying to make it in fishing have moved to Texas. - Trait
