I just joined Gingiber tea towel club . They are running a special right now. That is few joining now it’s only $16 a month instead of 20 and I thought that was fantastic.
You have a lot of control at Costco. I always come home with many things not on my list. I am always a sucker for "new" items and love trying new snacks, and deli items. Your hauls are so healthy! Not even a bag treats!
Wow, that’s a big shop! I notice that you use dish washer detergent pods. I assume, being a ranch, that you are on a septic system. A word of caution. The substance that makes the outer shell of the pod is called Poly Vinyl Alcohol and is not septic friendly. We found this out the hard way. It is not biodegradable and there is no way to remove it from your septic or leach field. It coats the soil and components of your system - reducing its efficiency. Laundry detergent sheets are composed of the same substance and are also not septic friendly. Just wanted to pass along this info from one septic owner to another.
I am in central Texas. I stopped using any kinds of cleaners, detergents and dishwasher cleaners with chemicals the last 3 months. My dishes had a film on them that we could not get off. I started realizing that those chemicals were on our plates we eat off of, our laundry and everything around our house. So we switched several times until we found what worked best to do its job and not poison us. We use Truly Fresh. Not a commercial. Just might look at other cleaners without the yuck chemicals. You will be surprised at how fresh your clothes and dishes will be without chemicals. I love your channel. It is shocking how much it costs large families to live. Crazy world.
The dried mushrooms are great! I especially love them in soups. I used to add them to a chicken, wild rice, and butternut squash soup I made. Really adds depth of flavor.
Great haul. The dish towels are beautiful. The canning jars have really gone up. Sometimes you need to buy convenience foods. Thanks for sharing with us.
What a wonderful haul !! Thanks for taking us along with you on your videos and sharing your Haul ! Can't wait till the next one and getting to see Dan in that Apron 😊..love sent from Kentucky ❤
You mention new subscriber back info - you should mention how big your family is! Makes the haul and short time frame between them more understandable ❤
The best cook in southern Alberta told me her secret was to use Apple Cider Vinegar in any recipe that called for white vinegar. I dislike the taste of white vinegar and have found that substituting the apple cider vinegar really does make any recipe taste better. Love seeing your hauls.
you should get you one of those brown sugar terra cotta stones. you just soak it in water and then put it in your brown sugar container your brown sugar will stay moist.
Place a marshmallow into the hard sugar. They don't spoil like bread. Once the sugar is soft again, just put a fresh marshmallow in the jar and replace it every 3-4 months or when you notice it gets drier.
The dehydrated mushroom blend is delicious. I have it. I've worked in a restaurant and couldn't get past the texture at first. SoI asked and it fixed. Soak them in hot water rinse and again. (You can save the broth second time) And coat in flour before cooking. They make the most delicious cream of mushroom soup with fresh herbs and shallots ❤️
So many wonderful things! During the last seconds the hanging Sunflower Decoration caught my eye and made me smile, as well as remind me to continue to pray for (Adrianna? God always knows who I mean) the dear woman your heart went out to when you showed us her creation! The shopping videos are encouraging for meal ideas, the unique preferences of different family members you reference makes me smile. I could go on but I've got to rest my back to hopefully sit up and turn my video option on for tonight's Garden Visit with everyone!
I understand the bit hauls! We are 3 hrs from Costco & one hour from town. We just moved so I need to get a garden going next year! This is impressive. I just found you and your amazing pantry!!!
For my brown sugar, I buy a bag that size, but it's only me. I have a clay sugar keeper from Pampered Chef that keeps the sugar from drying up in a solid mass. Current glass jar has been at least 6 months. I did start using more recently fir cinnamon sugar sourdough bread.
A couple ideas. For anyone who has access to Azure Standard, they offer frozen raspberry PIECES for under $13 for a 5 lb box. Exceptional quality. We use them for jam and smoothies. Also, we aren’t a soda family either but occasionally we like one. We have a Soda Stream and a few flavored syrups and Bubly drops. That takes care of the craving for us. (Plus I was fortunate enough to find the syrups and Bubly deeply discounted on clearance.)
I didn’t catch the name of the company with the …subscription…tea towels? Not that I am a flour sack tea towel addict. Nope. I’m just *asking*. For a friend. 😂
Hello from PEI . Our Costco is 2 1/2 hrs each way in New Brunswick. If we travelled to Nova Scotia to shop at Costco it would be a two day trip. The same chicken nuggets we purchased, we found them to be full of salt and little bit of chicken.
It's a whole other skill to learn, but BC has some of the best locations for foraging mushrooms and if you like the dried ones it could be a fun family adventure to do your own foraging! I'm in Alberta and just started foraging and dehydrating mushrooms this year. I have taken a class and have a friend who is an expert. I always double check with him and then cross reference with other resources before eating any mushrooms I find, but there are some easily identifiable ones like oyster mushrooms that are great to start with.
Superstore had large tortillas (packages of 10) on sale for $0.99! They had a huge bin of them right when you walked in to the store. So I bought 8 packs & threw them in our freezer. We love having them on hand for tacos, chicken caesar wraps, quesadillas. ☺️
Thank you for the awesome video. We are in B.C, too! We shop at the Wholesale Club often, but find that No Frills (same Parent company) is a lot cheaper, on many things! Costco is about 4.5 hours away from us, in Kelowna. We go there, twice a year! We are a small family of three adults!
I make homemade vanilla with vanilla beans sliced down the middle and glass bottles and vodka or spiced rum. I let mine age as long as I can sometimes 6 mos or a year. I make my own laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent with baking soda, super washing soda and borax. I grate up a bar of kirks Castile soap with a cheese grater. I used to use fels napha soap but I switched to the kirks Castile soap and I really like the new consistency
I did enjoy your video , some of your items I also get from Costco but now that there is just myself at home I don’t buy near as much as I don’t have a need for that much volume ! Great video , I like the freeze dried smash burger balls comparison, very educational!!
My shopping trip would be much more expensive because I would have to buy a new refrigerator to hold cases & cases of those pirogies! What a great price. I am so envious here in the States. I have been to Superstores in NB & BC but now live in Florida.
Oh my goodness! Here in Tucson, Arizona, the packages of the Kirkland nut bars have 30 bars in them and cost $17. Love seeing what you purchase for your family to complement what you preserve on your ranch. Thank-you for sharing.
This is so interesting- seeing the prices and all. We lived in remote Australia and we’d do our shopping once a month as “the shops” were also an 8 hours journey. We would hook up the box trailer and go to town. With a family of 5 we’d enjoy some time in the nearby town and do our 4-6 week shop. The price was horrendous but it was just “life”.
You mentioned you dont do a great job of making butter. On youtube search HOMESTEADING WITH THE ZIMMERMANS. Ruth Ann makes butter among many other things if you're interested in her process of making it. I enjoy watching you and also them. I wish I had all your energy!❤
Dehydrated mushrooms are great and if you can find them for a good price and you grind them a small amount goes a long way in flavour ing soups in stews.
Just found your channel, wow!! On the topic of dried mushrooms, I dry as many as I can and also power some. The powderd ones you can add to everything. I'm a pescatarian so no meat, but lots of seafood and mushrooms. In fact I'm just finishing my last soup up as I'm watching: fresh chanterelles, ginger, garlic, onions, shredded carrots, leftover airfried tofu, and yondu. No salt or pepper needed. Subscribed and will keep watching. Take care of yourself and your family.
I can't believe there was no sweets.😮 I didn't see one Mars bar or chocolate biscuit. I'm just amazed that your children don't miss them. Well done, Mum.😁 I always had a chocolate drawer 😂
The Cedar Valley pita chips are delicious. My favorite are cinnamon sugar. I agree with you that they do have a little bit of an oily aftertaste and I also can only have just a few at a time.
Good Morning from North Western Suburbs of Chicago.. Chelsea you don't have to buy tortilla chips, I buy fresh made corn tortillas and cut in quarters, fry in peanut oil..my family love them. It's quick easy and cheaper, they last a longtime, however we haven't had a chance to test that theory before they get eaten quickly, and with the salsa I make from my garden to left over smoke beef (what ever cut we ma have left over) I'll make Nachos and combined everything in our smoker..❤
I'm in the UK and it's actually cheaper to shop at our local large supermarket than bulk buying from Costco. I can't fault the quality of Costco but not the price. I have 5 supermarkets within a 20 minute drive from home, so lots of choice too.
I find that quite a few things work out cheaper in the smaller supermarket packaging then buying big bottles or package online (I'm also in UK). Yes I have more packaging to bin but most is cardboard and little plastic bottles and containers. Cardboard and plastic (mostly bottles) are collected every 2 weeks here. So is glass. Some containers like the bigger spice and herb ones I donate to school and a local nursery. They come in handy for craft projects there and It's not like I'm giving them 100 a week or so.
@@elysiana8889 Like you I can console myself on the carbon footprint with recycling packaging. I'm not convinced that there is that much extra to be fair.
I paid 21.95 for wide mouth pint jars and thought that price was crazy! 😊 I had to nod in agreement with your comment on the taste of butter. I’ve had Amish butter where i swear i could taste the scent of the barn, if that makes sense. I just could not eat it. I tried several times. Ack!!
Great shopping trip Chelsea i love that carpet it is Calvin klein so think it's worth every penny. Chelsea i don't think there's enough hours in the day for Dan and you to do everything you would love to do yourself. I wonder what your going to buy when you get a granddaughter it should be magical i can just imagine her a little you with that lovely hair you have. And Dan spoiling her rotten when she's helping him around the farm with her dungarees on. Take care Jean Scotland.
Chelsea with the freeze dried mushrooms this year I bought a dehydrator don't have a freeze dryer with just my husband and myself don't need one but we had just the right year and our wild mushrooms were fantastic. I dehydrated galleons of Chantrell mushrooms and a small amount of Chicken of the woods after dehydrating I used the food processor and chop them. Also caught a couple of sales in my area and did some Portabellas and white button ones. They work great in soups and stews also used some in pasta sauce. I think you will really like them. Amy from MS
Yes the canning jars have doubled this year. It is ridiculous. I restocked last fall to wide mouth on a lot. And price was ok just as normal. So why this year all sizes have doubled in price is a bit odd. Oh I was going to say CAN not wait for the pantry tour this Fall. hugs
SAME HER !!!! 3 hours each way to go to costco straight highway driving! 6 hrs just to get there & back plus time shopping !!! the same butter is $6.99 at costco right now here ! The trick to the brown sugar is Tupperware Modular Mates! I started selling Tupperware a long time ago to get a little discount & got modular mates & put my brown sugar in it...2 yrs later still as fresh as it was when i bought it !!! The Superstore & costco are so expensive but not much options here ... i miss having Fresh Co & Basics but thats the price i pay to live near the ocean !!!
The trick to brown sugar is to just make your own when you need it one cup of white sugar to 1 tablespoon of molasses. This is how brown sugar is made anyways so you only make it as you need it and it’s fresh every time.
I can't wait for Dan in the apron😂😂😂 i saw it and thought how pretty...then u told us how Dan claimed it. I'm done laughing, but will try to stop smiling for now.
Have you every considered buying a soda stream for Dan's fizzy drink fix? He could sweeten the carbonated water with any fruit juices or syrups you keep in the pantry. It's cheaper (and more eco-friendly!) than buying sparkling drinks at the store. Plus, it can be a lot of fun making your own flavors!
I absolutely love my soda stream! I love to give my cranberry and something juices the fizz! You just want to fizz up a bottle of water right after a bottle of juice so it will make sure it is cleaned out.
@@renabarnett2238That’s so interesting that you can add carbonation to juices. My daughter bought me a soda stream, but it said you can only fizz up water, or it may explode, so I got rid of it. That’s a bummer, I wish I would have kept it. I’ll try to find another one at a thrift store.
HOLY MOLY! Now, that's a shop! You know, I really think you could grow bluette or winecap mushrooms in your hightunnel under your tomatoes pretty easily.
That's a big shopping. Love the dishtowels. I'm from a town near Ottawa Ontario and for the big mason jars here at Wal Mart I was suprised at the price at 28.99 and for small ones 25.99. It has gone up a lot.
I'm in Alberta, and shop mostly at Wal-Mart. I thought my grocery prices were high, as I routinely spend bettween $500.00 - $600.00 on groceries per month. But your prices are much higher then mine. I used to cry every time I went shopping, but after seeing your prices I'm glad I live in Alberta. Thank you for showing me such a huge difference.
Chelsea I have had great success getting jars from FB market place , our local Salvation Army ( Vernon BC ) Quarts I paid .50 ,Pints .25 and jelly size was .20. I filled the back of my car ( SUV) for $35 . I just run finger over rim . I too have in the 1000 range of 1000 various jars .
As it is just me, with some to share, I do not buy the level of bulk that you do. OTOH, I will be beefing up my bulk buying for some shelf stable products and some for my freezer. Strangely, getting organic items where I live in the US is difficult from the big membership clubs. Organic, I buy from an interesting grocery store that has been in my town for over 40 years. I live in the Ohio Valley of the US, just outside of a large metro area. Your videos inspire me to make sure that I have enough food to get me through rough times. If my electric goes out during storms, I am making alternative plans for heating and cooking. No natural gas where I live. Thanks for this video. I am sure you will be making another haul for some items before hard winter sets in where you live. Looking forward to all your upcoming videos.
I find your hauls so interesting just from the Canadian content perspective. Thought you would be interested to know that where I live (Thunder bay , Ontario) we have both wholesale club and real Canadian superstore. The closest Costco is about 8 hours away. So I can only order online from Costco and thus there is lots I can’t order (like cheese etc). Those tea towels are adorable.
You should try spreading wine cap mushroom spawn in your gardens where you have straw or woodchip mulch. I spread one package of spawn 2 years ago and now don't have to buy mushrooms at all anymore. I just dehydrate them. Grow Mushrooms Canada is a BC based mushroom spawn dealer you could check out 😉
I found a utube video on butter making that said to put it in a bowl of cold water and rinse it before molding it it made the taste better before putting it in a butter bell
Chelsea mentioned once that she and Dan moved in together when she was 15, that could explain why she is such a young grandmother. Being a young grandmother is such a blessing.
Yay, first🥳 What a great haul! I always love to see your shopping hauls. Also as a comparison with the Dutch prices of food items. Especially vegetables, fruit and butter are a lot cheaper here. I don't know the bulk prices, I never come to those stores, but I can imagine that it's even quite a lower price than in our supermarkets. I always see you buy a lot of canned mushrooms. Is it possible to share a (stew) recipe how you use them? To be honest: it's just curiosity. I don't cook because I'm tube fed and on IV fluids. But I still love to collect delicious recipes to share them with my loved ones. And sometimes I cook in large quantities for my mom, so she has freezer meals. I love cooking, and she hates it. 😅 I hope you have a wonderful week! Saying hi and sending love from the Netherlands. 🤗 🇳🇱 ❤

100% correct you are and why we stopped using both...also because of allergies.
In the US we have Azure buying coop that has environment friendly household cleaners. Great products, great company.
I am in central Texas. I stopped using any kinds of cleaners, detergents and dishwasher cleaners with chemicals the last 3 months. My dishes had a film on them that we could not get off. I started realizing that those chemicals were on our plates we eat off of, our laundry and everything around our house. Im so excited to see your pantry tour this year! Its very inspirational as someone whose only been canning a couple years
I whole heartedly agree and I've been canning over a decade!!

Thanks, Chelsea. Your stock-up hauls are always amazing! I'm looking forward to that pantry tour. 🥰
It’s always so nice to have a few convenience items on hand! Love 💕 the kitchen towels and that apron will look nice on Dan 😂!
Throw a slice of bread into brown sugar, and it will definitely soften. It will surprise you.
Just a psa remember if you have anyone over for dinner that can’t eat gluten you don’t use the brown sugar in the food.
Yes so true my momma taught me that and I'm 66 years old.
A slice of apple will do the same thing.
@@TamingTheWild12 I did ot know that... Is it the molasses?
Great video Chelsea

Hi, great haul! I don’t buy brown sugar anymore because it gets hard too fast. I just add molasses to my white sugar. 😊
Put a piece of bread in the container and it will remain soft for forever. Honest.
you should get you one of those brown sugar terra cotta stones. you just soak it in water and then put it in your brown sugar container your brown sugar will stay moist.

Tip for stopping brown sugar from drying out. Put a slice of brown bread in with the sugar you're storing. Keeps it soft for ages. X

Stick a piece of bread I usually use the crust in with the brown sugar to keep it moist.
It’s easier just to make your own brown sugar when you need it instead of trying to store it very simple to make

Oh I was going to say CAN not wait for the pantry tour this Fall. hugs
You should maybe get a soda stream to satisfy Dan’s cravings
Hoooo.... waiting for the pantry tour....
I'm sure that when you make the mixed ones next year you'll probably use them all the time cuz it's more convenient like that
SAME HER !!!!
That dried mushroom mix from Costco, is my favorite!
These are the same prices as Australia. We do a big Costco haul every six months.
Wow. Good shopping 😊
I can't wait for Dan in the apron😂😂😂 i saw it and thought how pretty...then u told us how Dan claimed it. I'm done laughing, but will try to stop smiling for now.
Enjoyed the video 😊
Have you every considered buying a soda stream for Dan's fizzy drink fix? He could sweeten the carbonated water with any fruit juices or syrups you keep in the pantry. It's cheaper (and more eco-friendly!) than buying sparkling drinks at the store. Plus, it can be a lot of fun making your own flavors!
I absolutely love my soda stream! I love to give my cranberry and something juices the fizz! You just want to fizz up a bottle of water right after a bottle of juice so it will make sure it is cleaned out.
That would be a great Christmas gift for Dan!
@@mkv6632 We make sparkling apple juice using frozen apple juice concentrate (thawed of course.) Love our soda stream
Just not the best moral choice to support the soda stream company. A quick Google search outlines why.
HOLY MOLY! Now, that's a shop! You know, I really think you could grow bluette or winecap mushrooms in your hightunnel under your tomatoes pretty easily.
Wow! Wonderful. Everything seems so expensive. 😊
You can freeze dry mushrooms and powder it to use as a seasoning
And they pay PST in BC.. I'm barely getting by on alberta prices
Nice haul! Thanks for sharing your life with us!!
❤ your channel and place!
Grow Mushrooms Canada is a BC based mushroom spawn dealer you could check out 😉
I'm new here, just found you! I don't understand why you don't have SOOOOO many more subscribers. You're really, really good!
Thank you so, so much!
I found a utube video on butter making that said to put it in a bowl of cold water and rinse it before molding it it made the taste better before putting it in a butter bell
Brown sugar bears work wonderful to keep your brown soft. And they are cheap
Your grandson?! I had no idea! I hope i can be as productive as you when I'm old enough for my kids to have kids!!
Chelsea mentioned once that she and Dan moved in together when she was 15, that could explain why she is such a young grandmother. Being a young grandmother is such a blessing.
Yay, first🥳
What a great haul!
I hope you have a wonderful week!
Saying hi and sending love from the Netherlands. 🤗 🇳🇱 ❤
I love the chickens
Canadian Tire has had cases of jars between $15-$20, depending on size and shape.
Costco here in Ontario had 1L reg mouth 12 jars on for 12.99 on sale for 9.99 for the last couple months
Wow!
