The Human Brain is also partly wired to think of things as compared to their opposites. "Happy" doesn't exist without the concept "Sad". "Rich" doesn't exist without the concept of "Poor". "Safe" doesn't exist without there being some sort of "Danger". And therein lies the unease.
As someone who gets agitated by any sound or disturbance while playing. I stopped playing in peaceful mode, because although I could go to mines or build at night without mobs. I felt like something was off. Now I play in "normal mode" and It feels strange when I don't see mobs appear at night or when a cave is empty.
A peaceful world is so nice when you just want to build your world but don’t want to do it in creative. You still have to gather resources and wait for those resources to grow back.
I think in new versions the contrast between the normal and peaceful modes is even more noticeable. Back then in old versions there was always a feeling of loneliness and detachment. Just like to think about when you're switching to the peaceful you feel how much work the developers have done to make the world feel more alive now
Hm. I don't agree with you there. Minecraft itself is a lonely experience in single player, regardless of the difficulty. Everything that disappears in Peaceful is out to get you, and the sizzling sound of a Creeper is the only thing that gives me a mini heart attack. No one else but me has my back. This is why I carry an unholy amount of torches - the light is nice, but reducing the amount of mobs is the main appeal. Peaceful to me only removes the threats on my life. The feeling of solitude is still present, I just have less to worry about. Though, I think it also helps that when I got the game, I played on Peaceful for a while, to learn the controls, what interacts with what and just building a cool house. And it took me a long while to realize there is some sort of main quest in Minecraft - to slay the Ender Dragon, which is impossible in Peaceful, but for that long time I experienced loneliness. Alone in a world with nothing but animals, trees and rocks.
Problem is you aren’t used to no mobs going out to get you, the paranoia and autophobia is still there and amplified In normal you may be clogged with adrenaline and dopamine from killing mobs to care about how lonely you are In peaceful structures meant to inhabit hostile mobs become abandoned like mansions and trial chambers. Massive structures that are now completely empty and devoid of life and it brings a sense of uncanny and unease
Normal mode: scared of getting house blown up by creeper
Peaceful mode: scared of Herobrine
This is why I ALWAYS play on normal or hard mode, even hardcore, cuz even when peaceful mode is empty.. We are always full of fear.
Yeah the only time I use peaceful is when I'm afk at a farm
Why💀💀💀
Bro doesn't even mention Easy

Decides to go to sleep, " can't sleep, monsters are nearby". But I'm in peaceful mode tho.

Good point on minecraft feeling lonely in general, i suppose it could be attributed to the lack of threat
