      @thedogwoods5716 think back to deacon batista. If hhh hadn't stepped in an replaced jindrak, batista may never have been...... a lot of good talkers were wasted during that time too. Abraham Washington. (Granted he kinda fucked himself) vince still didn't know what to do with him. Armando estrada who should be brought back to replace Paul when the bloodline boots him. Lots of talkers. Lots of other big men, Matt Morgan who eventually learned to cut a promo. There was tons of wasted talent. My favorite would have been sean o'haire

    Vince's ego was simultaneously the best and worst thing for WWE during his tenure. Unfortunately for everyone, at a certain point it really just started getting in the way and affecting the product for the worse. He really should've stepped away from the day-to-day operations yesrs ago, and just let his team run the show, while he worked on making deals for the company. Unfortunately, his ego would never let him let go. He saw the WWE as HIS show, and he was gonna run it for as long as possible. I honestly believe that if the circumstances didn't end up being what they were, and essentially forcing his hand, Vince would've tried to keep running that company until the day he died.

      how was he affecting the product for the worse ? they had record profits the last few years before the sales and all the biggest stars and storylines from wrestlemania were started by vince years ago like bloodline , cody , gunther , dominc , judgement day and logan . it is too early to tell how well the management is working .

    • @donovanbradford8231
      @donovanbradford8231 2 місяці тому +1

      @@antonycuff4512 A fair point but when you looked at the day to day operations of WWE you saw massive issues. Wrestlemania is still top ten most profitable sporting events in the U.S. but how often did you see consistent WWE events on an average Raw or Smackdown show tens of thousands of people at these arenas, which 20 years ago they did all the time. Viewership was at an all time low even with their own streaming service when Peacock bought the WWE Network they admitted that it had like 1.5 or 1.75 million subscribers 400 thousand weren't active, so if a Raw gets 2.5 million eyes on tv the total viewership is still under 4 million within a 24 to 48 hr window which is terrible. Despite these record numbers most of this is coming from the massive tv and streaming deals that are being done which giving they did the Netflix deal of several more billion dollars after Vince left strikes me Vince wasn't behind the billion dollar deals of the last few years more likely that would've been Nick Khan. So while Vince took WWE to new heights at a certain point over the last 10 to 15 years it seemed more, more that there were many other people that were now taking the company to bigger heights and Vince was hindering the company more than helping it. But those are my two cents.

    • @antonycuff4512
      @antonycuff4512 2 місяці тому +1

      @@donovanbradford8231 i don't know where you heard those wwe network numbers ? i heard aroun 10 mil at time of sale . peacock now has 34 mil with the wwe as their only big draw . nick khan couldn't have done anything without vince's approval . khan was vince's partner in crime when it came to grant . vince's business model and promotion style is what the ufc followed . so without him there would be no ufc or tko .

    I used to be a diehard fan of wrestling be it WWE, NWA or WCW then something happened in the 2010s or maybe earlier that my interest in pro wrestling started to diminish. Though I still kept tabs on my favorite wrestlers from the era of the 80s and 90s, for that reason I ended up attending WWE pay-per-view in my hometown Jeddah
    Having attended the recent king and queen of the ring, pay-per-view event, to me it was a huge qualitative upgrade compared to what we had been experiencing for the last 15 years, thanks to Vince McMahon’s declining approach
    Paul and his team have really improved sports entertainment to the extent that this was the first time I actually enjoyed even watching female wrestling matches. Though there is a lot more needed still it’s better than what wins was throwing out at us for the last 15 years at least
    It is my wish that one day we get to enjoy the same amount of intense wrestling as we did back in the 80s and the 90s. The drama or the story is important but most important is the actual fight in the squared circle. We need hard hitting matches, whether they are for male or female wrestlers. We need an experience that keeps us stalking about these matches for years to come instead of forgetting about them as soon as the pay-per-view ends.

    Vince should have retired back in 2010 when he had Super Cena bury Nexus at SummerSlam 2010. 2013 wasn't much better with The Authority storyline which was change the channel heat. Trying to recreate Monday Night Wars by having NXT compete with AEW, which was stupid then Vince kills NXT & then making NXT 2.0 even more unwatchable than Monday Night Raw was at the time. Those are 3 examples but there are so much examples of Vince losing it

      Yea I took a break for a few years around 2008. Product to me was all over the place especially with the failed resurrection of ecw. It was pretty obvious Vince wasn't building new stars and relying on John Cena way too much. Vince was already in his 60's around that time and to me for the demanding job that was running wwe for so long he needed to pass that off to someone younger and walk away.

    The other thing with Nia winning over BeLair - there already seeds of Jax vs Jade down the line, my guess Nia will take Smackdown Women's championship and then, somewhere at Survivor Series lose it to Cargill, and then for your Mania program you can go with Jade Cargill vs Bianca Belair.
    See, Tony Khan, this is what the real plan looks like: it's simple enough, it's reasonable, there is no random sh*t, there already alot of seeds for this to happen, and because it have more story involved, this program will make more money. 1 year of story right here.
    In AEW: Nia wins the RAW title, Bilair get forgotten for 6 months, Rhea Ripley fight Jade Cargill the night she returns (because this is the "dream match") and don't give a sh*t about Dominic at all, and there probably Young Bucks shoot on Punk somewhere just because they want to.

    Vince was never good for the WW(F)E. He brought in the absolute scummiest version of wrestling that has ever existed and is the sole reason that wrestling has become associated with trailer trash. The attitude era succeeded because of money and gimmicks, not because of storytelling or interesting plots or any of that. That's all McMahon has ever known how to do as a creative director, he has the creative chops of a wooden stool. Hurr durr ok so this week we're gonna have rock let out a one liner, then austin is gonna drink a beer, then mankind is gonna do something completely insane and hurt himself, then undertaker will come out in a coffin.
    He took the dignified technical part of wrestling and ran it into the ground. Admittedly the technical stuff already had a foot in the grave but Vince took it out back and put a bullet in its head.

    No, Eric. No. I'd rather have Vince or I'd rather have him select a younger booker with a mind for character development and storytelling.
    The King of the Ring is exactly what Bischoff made fun of AEW over last week: Just another pointless tournament.
    In 2001, the KOTR was booked excellently. You have Edge, Christian, Kurt Angle, Rhyno, Jeff Hardy, Big Show, Tajiri, Perry Saturn, all interesting names and draws, so much intrigue and storytelling based on where these wrestlers came from on TV and where they were going. Their matches were all less than 4 minutes long. It worked. Vince and creative still had room to write all this other material while the tournament was taking place.
    Now this year. Levesque not only books 1 tournament but 2, and most matches were around 10-15 minutes. Why? And there was barely any story or a "why" for these wrestlers to want to win. Zoey Stark, Ivy Nile, Tama Tonga, Shayna Baszler, Ilja Dragunov, Lyra Valkyria, they all have the personality of pocket lint. And after all that time wasted, all that happens is that the prize at the end is a number one contender match. This tournament did not feel special, especially when Triple H has done 4-5 other tournament in the past year. How is this better without Vince around?
