Something that makes it even creepier is that Godzilla is in constant unending pain. In his third form he wobbles around like he can barley even stand up and (in a deleted scene) barfs up blood hot enough to melt cars. There's an argument to be made that Godzilla is the biggest victim of film, since he only exists because of humanity and is suffering because of it
This is the scariest Godzilla ever.
Not to be mean or anything but anytime there’s anything Shin Godzilla related, there is always, no matter what, this comment
This version of the big G is one of the badass versions of all time this is a godzilla you don't want to exist in any of the universes including our own
The other great thing about this movie is the OST. Such emotion and hidden detail within the lyrics. Also, Geekdom, look up "ASM Godzilla Vs. King Kong" on UA-cam. Watch for the Shin Godzilla and Neo Shin Godzilla segments, I promise you will not be disappointed. In a way, its like a continuation of the movie...
Seeing this movie in theaters was really cool because they composed the shots in a way that made Godzilla feel really huge and imposing on the big screen, like he was a force of nature instead of just a creature
I'm not the biggest Godzilla fan, buy Shin is my favorite iteration by far.
I love it so much man and the OST is incredible
This truly brought the horror aspect into a Godzilla movie! I wanna watch it again now!
Finally geekdom with the good Godzilla content
Shin Godzilla may be the best Godzilla movie of all time.
That atomic breath scene was one of the most destructible scene ive ever seen in a godzilla movie.
perhaps the best ever
I was so impressed with this film. It has very mature themes and sophisticated writing.
Two other cool things I’d like to add on this masterpiece of a film-
I love how the film just rips democracy and the whole human effort to bits with satire, but then celebrates our ability to eventually come together and make the world a better place. Just beautiful.
Also, while it is firmly rooted in the Japanese experience, I find that it is incredibly relatable to America and other places too. Especially after seeing the government flail in the face of Covid or whatever big issue it faces, just because the film is Japanese doesn’t mean that people all over the world can’t relate to it.
you right!
It’s a novel take on Godzilla. I enjoyed it. Potentially the most destructive Godzilla! ^.^
Easily a top 5 Godzilla movie ever
I have watched this about 15 times so far! I didn't know you did Godzilla so new scribe for this channel!
You covered what I was about to say as I was texting about the allegory XD. That said, Hell yes to Heisei XD. Best era of films for sure.
Thats funny man. I waited for this man to do this review when it came out lol i knew he'd dig it
Finally some goos sense in your comments about this movie. This movie is amazing indeed. My favorite Gojira movie by far.
Im finna watch it again thanks geekdom
Bro this was dope. When I first saw this I thought it was good but creepy. Glad your 2nd and 3rd time opened your eyes to how awesome it was. I wanna go back and watch it too lol
Hey just game over from your dbz page. Awesome content subbing.
God I love this movie. Seeing it in theaters was a blast.
Amazing 🎥 🎞
I could see this be godzilla before finally stop at monster island
Bro thoses creature's coming out of his tale looks like from the movie Alien
What's up, Geekdom! Have you watched Godzilla Singular Point? I had no idea you made a video on Shin Godzilla. I just saw your recent vid on Gojira (1954), so I was happy to collect your thoughts on Shin. Solid analysis, by the way. Shin Godzilla never ceases to amaze me on subsequent viewings. It's a riveting, complex story chronicling an existential arms race between Japan and Godzilla. Japan is composed of millions of people; Godzilla is an ascended super-organism. It's a race against time as both adapt to the other. While it's questionable to declare Japan the winner (surviving would be more appropriate), it's implied Godzilla, having seen the strength in numbers, has reached a point where he, too, will now become legion.
One thing I'd love to see explored more (not in a sequel, as I don't think it's necessary) in these films is the mysterious connection between nuclear fission/nuclear power and these godlike entities. Regardless, thank you so much for making this video!
YES LOVE THE SPOILER TALK
Sorry, I forgot to mention this in my previous comment, but have you read Kami-no-Kemono (Beast of God)? It's this incredible kaiju manga from the '90s, and its influences on Shin Godzilla are staggering. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend you track it down and give it a whirl -- it's fantastic!
I'm curious about how you'd review Godzilla Singular Point
His atomic breath was amazing. Starting as a gas that ignites into a sea of flames 🔥 then condenses into a dark pinkish purple laser like a lightsaber cutting through everything it touches.
Also for the ending, my impression is that Godzilla was trying to evolve into a democracy himself, as the film shows how strong the human race is when they work together. Our collective was able to beat the individual.
yeah but if he's still evolving, we're screwed lmao
Those things coming out of the tail reminds me of the xenomorphs aliens.
yeah creepy
When this movie first came out I didn’t like it due to the transformations, weird design and changes to Godzilla’s abilities. However, I now think this is the scariest and coolest looking and scariest Godzilla ever.
Shin godzilla was a quiet release over here cus of legendary success
Shin in theaters was amazing
I hope world if geekdom starts reviewing stranger things 😭😭
Yesh, it's awesome. Check out Jerome Weiselberry's review of this, she's an amazing underrated youtuber.
If you haven't already check out the anime "Godzilla Singular point" all I can say its weird like Shin Godzilla.
AHHHHHHHH
Although I haven't seen the film, it seems to be a really dark film. No wonder, since the director is the creator of Evangelion.
go see it asap
Shin Godzilla is also the highest-rated Godzilla movie in RT, Metacritic, etc you name it since the original 1954 one. And for once, I agree with the critics & the collective.
yea but i dont care about RT.
@@WorldofGeekdom RT is not the point. The point is, even non-Godzilla-fan critics & audience like Shin. Which makes it even more ironic that Shin haters are mostly longtime Godzilla fans who thinks the likes of "vs. Megalon" & "vs. Gigan" movies are better.
I think the creatures in the tail were people that Godzilla trampled. Like Godzilla is constantly mutating, and anything getting pulled into it gets roped into that mutation.
Did you get Cloverfield vibes too? It was terrifying! ^.^
that is creepy!
My favorite thing about the movie is that some of the soundtracks are actual perspectives. The song during the atomic breath scene, Who Will Know Tragedy, is in Godzilla's POV showing how scared and in constant pain it's in.
Geekdom Do you have favorite godzilla form or transform?
all.
Best Godzilla film
Where can you watch the movie
i saw it on blu ray.
I'm glad you liked this movie, but personally it didn't click with me. I found the concept behind this new version of Godzilla is more interesting than the movie itself. I get that most of it was being critical of Japanese politics, but since I am not familiar with Japanese politics that means little to me. Other than the main character and the American liaison, I don't remember a single person from this movie. Just quick introductions to multiple groups of people we don't get attached to. Don't get me wrong thou, I don't mind the film having a political tone, but the original Gojira and GmK did it much better IMO.
respect. I love GMK and OG Gojira too. Those are in my top 5, but so is this one.
@@WorldofGeekdom Thanks for the reply Geekdom. One thing that I find interesting about the Godzilla fanbase is that other than the original film, there is no standard as to what is considered "the best films." G-fans are all over the place with what they like or don't like.
@@Darthpsychonis I know and I'm weird because I like a little bit of everything.
Any chance you might see RRR? 🙏
RRR?
@@WorldofGeekdom it's an Indian action film set back when the British still occupied India. One guy lives in the jungle while the other works for the British. They become friends but then have to butt heads. It's kind of like Marvel had a kid with Fast and Furious. I say that because some feats seem ridiculous and it seems like the characters have some kind of "power". Unlike Marvel, it's played pretty straight (no quippy jokes) and you don't get one liners about "family"
Also, I loved Shin G. Great movie, and I've been wanting to rewatch. It got my wife and I chatting about the movie all over again.
The second movie of this is actually shin ultraman.
no its not. I have multiple friends who have seen it - it does not take place in the same universe.
Oh but they said it was referenced in the movie that shin godzilla was transported to antartica
