That was one of the "Rafa beast" at hard court. So sad he got this back injury at the final...
You mean when he faked a back injury because he was getting roasted by Wawrinka? Riddle me this: If he injured his back, how was he able to win the third set? Think about that. I understand you're a huge Nadal fan, but please be fair.
@@fransiscoscaramanga674 Painkillers?
@@fransiscoscaramanga674 You sounds exactly like federer fan. You know what is painkillers?
@@fransiscoscaramanga674 finally someone who said it.. wawrinka crushed him at the first set and he saw there was no hope but to fake injury..he was playing some points like he was injured and then some like he was fine, which is not possible..this is how he confused wawrinka and managed to take one set
You fake your brain, and here we are
This was the last tournament of peak Nadal. After the back injury it was the final nail in the coffin for him and he was just never quite the same in the following years. His movement in this AO tournament was so free and his forehand was at peak levels even taking the ball early and it is just unfortunate that his body betrayed him at the worst time and stopped him from making history. Winning this tournament would've made Nadal the first player ever to win every grand slam at least 2 times at only 27 years of age which would've also made him the undisputed greatest player of all time. Out of all Nadal's loses in finals the loss in the final after this match will forever remain his most heartbreaking as most people were sure he would've finished it off.
Two GOATS 🎉❤❤❤
I Love ❤️ You!!! 🇪🇸🙌🇨🇭
🇪🇸 Rafael Nadal & 🇨🇭Roger Federer is a national treasure of tennis & hall of fame of tennis!!! Cheers!!! 🐐👑💎🎾🎾
Two great giants, great athletes 😊💪
This AO 2014 was his to win it (no one thinks he would have lost to Stan in normal circumstances), too bad for his injury. Rafa was very very close to win AO at least 4 times. You add the missing ones due to injury and everyone should realize AO was actually a really good place for Rafa, where he always played great tennis.
@alltrack_r Nadal would've also been the first player to ever win the double career grand slam in that 2014 AO at only the age of 27. Unfortunately his body betrayed him at the worst possible moment and obviously an injured Nadal was just not going to overcome a peak level Wawrinka. I believe if the back injury never happened Nadal would've beat Wawrinka in 4 or 5 very close sets and the coarse of tennis history would change as Nadal would've maintained his peak level on hard courts for a couple more years giving 2015 Djokovic very tough competition. Djokovic would not have it so easy in 2015 if Nadal remained healthy.
i wonder what was happening off court bc this was a tense match 😬
They knew Stan was waiting in the final; which for both of them (they thought) was a guaranteed victory. This was the de facto final in everyone’s eyes. Federer could have won 30 slams if he was mentally tougher in big moments against Rafa/Novak. Super sad, his skills were so much higher.
Federer should have switched bigger racket earlier in career. It solved Nadal problem on all courts except clay.
Hardly . He had one good year on HC only and Nadal would have easily flipped it again .
@@yussepig6629wrong, Fed beat Claydal in literally every match from 2015 going forward
@@initialize21 not true..they played only once in 2015 and in 2016 they never played .after 2017 they never met in 2018 and in 2019 they played in Roland Garros and Wimbledon..rafa 2022 hardcourt version is unbeatable till his rib injury stopped him against fritz ..he has 20 match winning streak so stop putting the false stat like he never beat olderer since 2015
@Laland_1196 Nadal in 2018 was physically stronger than he was in 2017 and the only thing that stopped him from winning 3 grand slams that year was the injury against Cilic in the AO SF and the injury against Del Potro in the USO SF.
@@patcisz3474 agree 💯
LUEGO DE ESTE TORNEO Y ESTA LESION NO FUE EL MISMO EN PISTA DURA POR MAS QUE GANARA OTROS US OPEN O AO. PERDIO VELOCIDAD.

Insane from Nadal! Missing him already...
Federer's hardcourt game should never have lost to Rafa's hardcourt game at the Aussie Open even once, forget thrice 09, 12, 14. He was way superior but had a major mental block which he finally got rid of in 2017 and we saw the results after that
Between 2004 and 2014, Nadal won 9 times against Roger on hard courts. Roger only defeated Rafa on indoor conditions, because on outdoor hard courts, the H2H between them was 8-2 in 2014 (now 8-6).
@ That’s exactly my point. Mental block. Because who was the overall better hard court player from 2004-2014 - by far?
I see how you failed to mention Nadal's huge decrease in speed and physicality after 2014.
@@patcisz3474and? Federer is 6 years older than Nadal and still managed to beat him every time after 2014. Nadal has no excuse
@@initialize21 and ? Rafa out of form from 2015-16 give advantage to Djokovic and federer to win him in hardcourts..don't forget rafa is the only man to defeat prime Federer 2006 version thrice
2017 Federer still doesn't beat this version of Nadal. You have to remember that Nadal just recently beat prime Djokovic in the
2013 US Open final and was literally at his peak on hard courts at that time. Nadal was much faster and physically stronger in this video than he was from 2017 onwards.
Can we have the full Rafas run in 2014 @australianopenTV??
Nadal was playing great in this tournament, it was very possible for him to win the cup, but he suffered an unfortunate injury in the final.
He was better than the 2013 USO tournament that he won. His movement in this AO was so free and his forehand was at peak levels even taking the ball early which showed the huge confidence he was playing with. Too bad his body betrayed him again and in my opinion this match was the last of prime Nadal. He was rejuvenated in 2017 and won a few more majors after that but he was much more vulnerable and players were able to hit through him much easier.
there was no way he was gonna beat Wawrinka the way he was playing, the way he was striking the ball, c/mon claydal fan boy, get a clue...... an opinion based purely on your love of the ocd-ass ss-picker..........
This was Rafas chance to win the AO, having no Djokovic in the final. And then he went on to lose to Wawrinka.......
Yes, well it's because Stan was mentally tougher than Roger!
Rafa had just beaten Djokovic at the last Grand Slam on outdoor hard court, so perhaps it would have been better for him not to meet this Wawrinka, but rather the Serb...
@@pauljohnson6019 Tbh, I think Federer would beat Wawrinka
@@richerlouis3391 I guess we never know...
@@richerlouis3391 Night and day difference between Djokovic in the US Open and the Australian Open.
It’s crazy fed fans always have their excuses if they met more times on hard court blah blah when in fact Rafa beat him in AO 3 times in 4 meetings.
Fed was undeniably better than Nadal on anything outside of clay, so it's a fair assessment to make
@ how do you explain him losing record vs Rafa on both clay and hard court slams then?
@@initialize21 his h2h ,masters ,slam record says rafa is better than Federer.. without injuries rafa will do more better than Djokovic and Federer combined
@@Laland_1196Nope
@@alexwalker7487 it's according to you ..rafa missed a whopping 16 slams and 30 masters in his career and reached 22 slams and 36 masters..his aura is greater than hard court players Federer and Djokovic
What is the point of playing Rafa in his prime? That guy is a nightmare on his day if fully fit
Only on clay. Definitely beatable everywhere else, especially by Fed and Djokovic
Nadal is the GOAT ❤

You can tell Roger still wasn't used to the larger racket head size at this point. However, once he got comfortable with it, it was game-over for Rafa, since he was unable to beat a 6-year older Federer in literally every match going forward.
Federer the freaking GOAT
Or more so, Nadal declined a lot in his legs and was no more able to counter Federer's game. Younger Nadal was nightmare for Federer on any outdoor surface, Fed had him on indoor hard.
Fewest slams, fewest masters, dominated by Nadal and Djokovic h2h. Some Goat.
This was peak Nadal against a recovering Federer and he didn't trashed him like the year before. There were some signs of what came afterwards.

He wasn't the favourite at all here.
@@masters.1000 whatever that means, my point is fed had no business losing to claydal on the hard courts of Australia......favorite or no favorite..........yet here he is losing to the grunting, ocd, ass-picker at the AO because he's soft......... no mental toughness like the GOAT NOVAK!
