After the semifinal, which was on Sept 11, the players spoke a bit. Rafa was asked about when he got his first ranking point. He was 15 at the time, but instead of talking about that, he told the story of the tournament he'd played the week before where he'd reached the final and had several match points but lost them all. He was very defected when he went back to the locker room, but he saw on the tv the attack on the Twin Towers. He said "I forget my match in 1 second." He was so shocked and appalled by what he was seeing. What he didn't talk about was that Rafa and his family, mom, dad and sis had made a trip to New York that summer and, as many tourists did, went up to the top floor of the South Tower. He and his beloved family had stood there a few months before the attack! The disaster had a profound effect on the young tennis player. Each time he came to NY for the Open he would quietly make a pilgrimage to the site during the tournament. No cameras, no interviews, just a personal journey. As his fame grew he stopped doing that. A quiet personal journey would have been impossible, I suppose. Rafa is a kind and generous man. His heart (and frequently, donations) goes out to all who suffer, but that one was very personal.

This is where it all started for me getting behind this guy as a diehard and USO 2010 will always remain my favorite moment of Rafa’s career. Something so special about Rafa in New York since this first title run in 2010. Always gave him his GOATiest kits for his night matches here and his intensity and electricity of the New York crowd was such a match made in heaven. This particular tournament was so awesome to watch looked like an assassin and played like a man on a mission. Booming shots off both wings while serving 130+ bombs. We often ask of generational athletes what if older more refined and experienced versions of them had their younger body and physicality and I think 2010 USO Rafa is exactly that with the aggression of 2017 and beyond Moyadal while still being at his physical peak and the product was such an awe inspiring watch. What a ride it’s been and he’s spoiled us rotten for so long. Been an absolute pleasure to stan this gift of a human being 🫡.

Roger Federer won half of his Grand Slams (10) when Nadal still had 3 and he had 12 when Novak won his first. When Novak started winning, he won his 24 Grand Slams while Roger won 8, three times as many. But Nadal faced Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in the Prime Time of both and won his 22 Grand Slams against the best version of both. Nadal was the second of the ‘big three’ to win all 4 Grad Slams. He was the first of the ‘big three’ to win the ‘Golden Grand Slam’. He has the best percentage of Grand Slam finals won of the ‘big three’. Between Djokovic and Nadal, Djokovic leads in total head-to-heads (32-29), in finals (15-13), on hard court (20-7) and in Masters 1000 (16-13), but Nadal, meanwhile, leads in Grand Slam matches (11-7), Grand Slam finals (5-4) and on clay (20-10). Between Nadal and Federer, Nadal has 24 wins to Federer's 16. Nadal also has the advantage in the finals in which they have met (14-10), including Grand Slam finals (6-3). Only injuries have prevented him from being the player with the most Grand Slams in history and the best of all time. Forever Nadal, the GOAT

Pretty sure you got some stats wrong. Nadal and Djokovic are 29-31. If you were to count this recent exhibition match, you might as well count the other ones and the doubles matches, cause why not. That would even it all out at 34 a piece. Additionally, he is 20-9 vs Djokovic in clay, not 20-10. One of the most remarkable achievements is having an 11-7 and 10-4 records over his greatest rivals in the Grand Slams stages.

@@den_525 It does cuz his title isn't complete. If Djokovic hadn't won any gold Olympic, then he would've been discredited to despite that title is just below ATP Masters. That can be the reason why Djokovic has 219 weeks at no. 1 ahead of Nadal despite he only has 2 GS more than Nadal. Remeber! ATP Finals awards 1,500 points!

@@wimzswimz9843 So what? I don't think Djokovic needed to win Olympic Gold to be one of the goats. Federer never won Olympic Gold, and no one discredit his achievements.
People only look at titles as the measurement, but not look any deeper. Rafa's 22 GS were harder than Federer's or Djokovic's, but no one look at that, because it's unfair to say the other players are not on par with them, but you look at the statistics and Rafa had to beat Djokovic or Federer to win a GS significantly more than Djokovic or Federer had to face each other to win their slams.
Nadal is the only one that had to go through Federer and Djokovic's prime. Can't be said for the other two.

Nadal would be much higher ranked than Novak if he hadn't had to sit out as so many matches due to injuries!

I'm ngl nerh but that point that they reviewed looks like a controversial one like yes Ik it's in but it's one of those u could've called out too, but nonetheless Rafa deserved it bcoz of how great he was🙌🏽🔥🐐

    Nadal is the true G.O.A.T
G.O.A.T of being no. 2! 387 weeks is a record for eternity as no. 2! Even Steffi Graf only spent 377 weeks at no. 1

La trayectoria de nadal no tiene mérito, al principio ganaba por la ayuda de su tio, y después, ganaba porque jugaba un tenis monótono y aburrido que desconcentraba y desmoralizaba a sus rivales.
nadal's career is not a success. At first he won with the help of his uncle, and later, he won because he played a monotonous and boring tennis that distracted and demoralized his rivals.
