Did-Did-Did-Did-You see the frightend ones? Did-Did-Did-Did-You hear the falling bombs? Did-Did-Did-Did-You ever wonder why we had to run for shelter When the promise of a brave new world Unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?
A haunting song with tragic overtones; the memories never fade of human atrocities and injustices perpetrated against each other. The scars of war never completely heal.
David takes a role of a little light in the darkness that "the Wall" brought by Roger represents. It brings a new wave of emotion, it's not hapiness, it's not hope, you know the candle will stop burning as the songs from the album continue to come along, yet it makes you experience the feeling i've personaly never experienced before.. What a magical piece of art
David’s voice in the Wall to me is Pink’s subconscious. every time his voice appears it serves as a narration to what’s happening to Pink at that moment. When Roger comes in that’s pink Answering or quieting the voice in his head. They play off this nicely in hey you, mother and waiting for the worms. Comfortably numb especially with the emphasis on David singing “this is not how I am... I have become...” such great story telling. So well written
Without a doubt this is a stellar song from Pink Floyd. Hauntingly beautiful in so many levels. Such magical chemistry between Waters and Gilmour with the harmonies...almost, if not, transcending.
The flames are all long gone but the pain lingers on . . . Like so many Floyd lyrical lines, absolutely timeless and so deeply emotional if you dare to let the music take you there.

The convergence of the best guitarist with the best song writer of our time. It was hard enough to put a single out much less a double album like this in 1979.I have to say that I was lucky to have grown up with this music. I would have been proud to have done so with Elvis, Jerry Lee, and Johnny too, but wow. I still think the Wall is the best album ever released.
I have always had the greatest respect for British artist's and Pink Floyd was one of the greatest bands ever assembled. What happened to this style of music? I'm happy to have lived through one of the most fantastic times for music.
I'm 39...I remember hearing this coming from my sisters room for the first time back in '79. I thought it was the most beautiful song I had ever heard. Now, being the age I am, I cannot get over how significant the song still is....and how dark it actually is. But yet, it's still beautiful.
You wrote this comment 13 years ago, so you must be 52 now. I don’t know why it kinda hits me in a strange way. Time flies so fast, 13 years ago feels like yesterday. Wherever you are I hope you’re doing great man.
Such a simple song to play, but genius to write. (Guitarist perspective). Simplicity is gold, each note is exactly where it needs to be for this song needs to hit so hard. Damn
I just came here after listening to a modern guy sing his cover. He had three versions of himself doing the harmony. It was great. But then this....so much better. Unbelievably better. Incredible.
I am so happy for the time when I was born.We had black and white tv with no phone because my grandfather wouldnt have one. There were no cell phones or cable tv.I had a record player and an am radio with a single plastic earphone. But being able to have great bands to listen to like Pink Floyd was worth it all.No regretsI am so happy that all the giants of music are still enjoyed by the younger generations, real music.
We've been being lied to for decades and those who tried to open our eyes before it all went to Hell, were killed, either physically or politically, before they could tell us. Bring back President Trump or a true patriot like him. We cannot live under the Global Elitist rule.
KireKilleuse - There is a full version in 2 parts on UA-cam - One is called “The Wall August 8 1980” and the other is “The Wall August 9 1980.” The reason being, the bootleg is actually taken from 2 shows.
I've always had a block with this album, I never cared for it much aside from a few songs here or there. For some reason I never paid this particular song much attention until I was watching a documentary on the making of the tour and then suddenly the pure beauty and simplicity of this song hit me (no pun intended) like a ton of bricks. I don't know what's more beautiful here; David's playing or David's singing.
One of my greatest regrets in life is never having seen Floyd live. In my younger years, I thought of them as a "listen while you're messed up" band. Now I realize they played amazing music and did it to play amazing music, not to play for a bunch of messed up teenagers. Sadly, this music is being lost to todays computer generated, no talent, sing to get famous "artists". What is happening to good music...to REAL music? Roger/David...please save the world. Come back to us.
I wish I was born earlier to experience Pink Floyd live. Today I think too many artists rely on computers for vocal help, then it comes the time when they preform live and it sounds nowhere near as good. Pink Floyd kept consistency.
Am telling you sir When you wrote this comment I was five Now that I'm 15 I really thank God that I'm a Pink floyd- Sting - zeppelin - Frank sinatra - enya - eric clapton.... fan I also play classic and electric guitar and keyboard and I love to make music, I know I'd be never as good as these legends but I'll try to be better than others
This song is how to represent emotion. Emotion is a feeling we cannot describe with words. Instead, harmonized voices and instruments are the only way we can do this.. Just like this song :)
love the flange on bass and acoustic! wish it was in original album. To do the wall live is an incredible production. Very difficult!! Thanks again for posting this. MM
I saw pink floyd in sydney Aus in 1985 Without roger waters and they where brilliant ... Dave gillmore is a legend . One of the best concerts I've ever seen.
Awesome post -thanks! A friend of mine who saw 1 of the Animals concerts in 1977 at MSG told me how Waters had cursed the audience when people kept hitting the inflatable Pig with bottle rockets---it was a July 4 concert. This was right before the spitting incident--he was an angry dude back then...
It's your oppinion and i respect it, it's hard to understand why do we like the distortion, because it's not senseless to us. Anyway, you like Pink Floyd, so that's good ;)
am I the only one who thinks this song is never long enough.... it's okay, I just play it over and over
I gave you a 'like' 10 years later it looks like. But you're right, it's too short. It's a great song so it needs to be longer.
I agree that this song is not long enough. It’s so simple yet, awesom
Its about 20minutes too short 😎
You are not alone
I agree, this song should have been longer!
One of the best songs ever written.
But I think in the record they should sing the chorus more than just once.
Maybe after the first verse.
They "oooh's" that they sing in this live performance sound amazing. Totally atmospheric
Better is movie version, wich have exposed louder and darker synthesizer
It’s so beautiful
Omg yes I almost cry
I'm right there with ya, especially when you got earbuds. volume all way up itll give u chills
the greatest band of all times ....
Yes Sir,,,without a doubt.
Absolutely amazing Gift.

RW's father was killed in War. RIP
This song reminds me when the doctors told me that my mom had terminal cancer, still is a very personal song for me
Understand.
Sorry to hear that. I wish you peace
I'm sorry for your loss brother. I hope you have been able to heal from all of that. I wish you peace as well^
the only thing that ever fucked me off about this song, was that it is too short.
I totally agree.
Like my buzz😎
Yes.
This is so that such music does not drive us crazy! )

Without a doubt this is a stellar song from Pink Floyd. Hauntingly beautiful in so many levels. Such magical chemistry between Waters and Gilmour with the harmonies...almost, if not, transcending.
Jesus. Still one of the most haunting songs out there...
make love, not war. Pink Floyd forever!
Pink Floyd Harmonies are out of this world
The flames are all long gone but the pain lingers on . . . Like so many Floyd lyrical lines, absolutely timeless and so deeply emotional if you dare to let the music take you there.
Some of the most beautiful “OooOoohs” in any song. Those harmonies!
amazing vocals
This is definitely the best versione in my opinion

Can't get this one out of my head lately!

Looks like David sings in harmony with Rick in verses. Cool. Rest in peace, Rick Wright.
No, Richard Wright never sang any songs during The Wall concerts
@Step198626 Which is unfortunate because his voice would've sounded great in this song, as well as on Hey You.
@Step198626 That's definitely Rick's voice in there
i wish this song was way longer. i could listen to this tune for hours. i wouldnt even care if they just hummed the whole thing
I have always had the greatest respect for British artist's and Pink Floyd was one of the greatest bands ever assembled. What happened to this style of music? I'm happy to have lived through one of the most fantastic times for music.
One of my favourite floyd tunes. Short but that acoustic guitar and harmony jheez

How bloody apt is this song in 2024.

Still here!! And yes, I’m 52. This song is still very heavy and very relevant today! Hope you’re doing well and have had a great holiday!
Such a simple song to play, but genius to write. (Guitarist perspective). Simplicity is gold, each note is exactly where it needs to be for this song needs to hit so hard. Damn
The beginning harmonies are incredible!!
Try standing in front of 80,000 people with Roger's lyrics and concept. Dave knew it was good, but wow. Remember how few performances there were.
yeah is really woww
Highly under appreciated song.
Mon grand regret
N'avoir jamais vu les Pink Floyd en concert.
Merveilleuse chanson contre la guerre malheureusement toujours d'actualité
I just came here after listening to a modern guy sing his cover. He had three versions of himself doing the harmony. It was great.

Best Band Ever! !!!!!
Ever will be !!!!
So amazing live, so awesome
The ending transition is so beautiful
One of my favorite pink Floyd songs. I think this song is so beautiful
This song gives me goosebumps.
Richard's voice is standing out so much in this. He had such a small presence during the Wall years, it's great to hear his voice.
a masterpiece, the entire album - simply one of the greatest musical accomplishments in history - this will never leave my collection of albums :)))
Holy sound!
Wow, look how young! A wonderful and haunting song.
*Na minha humilde opinião, é e sempre será, a melhor banda de rock de todos os tempos sem dúvida 👍*
Usted tiene la boca llena de razón !
this song in much underappreciated, one of my favorite floyd songs right here :)
beautiful song
as relevant today as it was when it was written in 1979........sadly....

Pink Floyd is one of the greatest bands ever. As far as I’m concerned David is probably one of the greatest musicians ever
I've always had a block with this album, I never cared for it much aside from a few songs here or there. I cry everytime, I hear this song. Dont know why..
For me is like the loss of innocence and the voice of the kid in the begging, is like the calm before his life starts going wrong...
And if u are anything like myself u have a hard time deciding if they are tears in hope of what's left in the afterlife or tears in fear of the end
I'm only 17 and this song gets me everytime. Theres just something about it.......I cant explain but I cry everytime I hear it. Its beautiful.
One of the best
This is so kickass to me and I don't believe that I've found a great audio of these songs from the Wall. Thanks for uploading them
el sonido es increible grande Pink Floyd saludos a todos los amantes de la buena musica

It would have been amazing to see this in 1980/81. The Wall was the first Floyd album I remember my dad buying.
Great song.. great album
Hauntingly beautiful with great harmony. I am transported.
It was always going to be something special. The whole of The Wall is excellent, but this song, Comfortably Numb, and Hey You, stood out.
