I feel like this is the climax of the album, with Brain Damage and Eclipse being a nice ending. It’s always an amazing experience to go from Us and Them to Any Colour You Like.
I had this taxi ride from one of Moscow's airports into the city about 1999 past lots of half completed office and apartment blocks many needing to be restarted. The driver explained that they were being built with no money. All the contractors would apply their trades to the construction and would be paid with a share of the apartments when finished. It was all done on trust. On the CD player: Pink Floyd
I saw this a few months later at Winterland Ballroom in San Fransisco. Was expecting to hear Obscured by Clouds tracks, instead we got 45 minutes of all new music.
I don't know..I was way up in back for Dark Side, and on a blanket about mid-center field for Animals. 2 of the best shows I've ever seen! Best sound team in the biz!
You really don't want to be in the first row. Too much to see and hear. You want to be in the 40 - 50 rows. Which we ( my girlfriend then wife ) were 5 times going back to 1975 thru 1994. Life changing experiences. Yes, my wife and I are still together.

Yes that's right - she was told to just do whatever came to her as she went along ! The result could / should have been chaotic, but is actually a melodious tune that has a structure to it ! This is by far the best version of Any Colour You Like I've heard. It has such a lovely blues groove to it. This might be the period when Pink Floyd were at their best, when they dared to experiment and allowed themselves to let loose. I once heard someone describe Led Zeppelin as psychedelic blues, and as much as I love Led Zep, I think that description fits the Floyds even better.

Terrific version of one of my personal fave PF songs. Dark Side is to modern music what War and Peace is to the novel, or what The Godfather is to movies, or what Apollo 11 is to transportation, etc., etc.
Usually lyrics are expressed in words, but with Pink Floyd they are also expressed through music, without the need for lyrics. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, I say that a David Gilmour guitar chord, or Richard Wright’s keyboard equals a thousand words, you just have to close your eyes and open your ears to read them. In (Any Color You Like) the thought behind this song expresses the illusion that man has the power to choose. At least that's what Roger Waters said.
